Abstract

A high-precision calibration method for all-sky cameras has been realized using images from the Ali observatory in Tibet, providing application results for atmospheric extinction, night sky brightness, and known variable stars. This method achieves high-precision calibration for individual all-sky images, with the calibration process introducing deviations of less than 0.5pixels. Within a 70-degree zenith angle, the calibration deviation of the images is less than 0.25pixels. Beyond this angle, the calibration deviation increases significantly due to the sparser distribution of stars. Increasing the number of stars with zenith angles greater than 70degrees used for calibration can improve the calibration accuracy for areas beyond the 70-degree zenith angle, reducing the calibration deviation at an 85-degree zenith angle to 0.2pixels. Analysis of the all-sky images indicates that the atmospheric extinction coefficient at the Ali Observatory is approximately 0.20, and the night sky background brightness is about 21 magnitudes per square arcsecond, suggesting the presence of urban light pollution., Comment: 11 pages, 15 figures, and 5 tables. Abstract

We have monitored a 3 deg2 area toward Serpens Main in the Pan-STARRS1 r, i, and z bands from 2016 April to September. Light curves of more than 11,000 stars in each band were obtained, and 143 variables have been identified. Among those, 119 variables are new discoveries, while 24 variables were previously known. We present variability classes and periods of 99 stars. Of these, 81 are located in the upper giant branch, displaying long periods, while the remaining 18 variables are pre-main-sequence objects with short periods. We also identify eight eclipsing binary systems, including the known binary V0623 Ser, and derive their physical parameters. According to a clustering analysis of Gaia DR2 stars in the observed field, there are 10 variable members in Serpens Main, where six members have been classified as young stellar objects in previous studies. Here we provide color-magnitude and color-color diagrams for these variables. The color variability of most variables in the color-magnitude diagrams produce the expected displacements, while the movements of cluster members point in different directions; this behavior may be associated with accretion spots or circumstellar disks., Comment: 35 pages, accepted by AJ; typos corrected

Abstract

Ali CMB Polarization Telescope (AliCPT-1) is the first CMB degree-scale polarimeter to be deployed on the Tibetan plateau at 5,250m above sea level. AliCPT-1 is a 90/150 GHz 72 cm aperture, two-lens refracting telescope cooled down to 4 K. Alumina lenses, 800mm in diameter, image the CMB in a 33.4{\deg} field of view on a 636mm wide focal plane. The modularized focal plane consists of dichroic polarization-sensitive Transition-Edge Sensors (TESes). Each module includes 1,704 optically active TESes fabricated on a 150mm diameter silicon wafer. Each TES array is read out with a microwave multiplexing readout system capable of a multiplexing factor up to 2,048. Such a large multiplexing factor has allowed the practical deployment of tens of thousands of detectors, enabling the design of a receiver that can operate up to 19 TES arrays for a total of 32,376 TESes. AliCPT-1 leverages the technological advancements in the detector design from multiple generations of previously successful feedhorn-coupled polarimeters, and in the instrument design from BICEP-3, but applied on a larger scale. The cryostat receiver is currently under integration and testing. During the first deployment year, the focal plane will be populated with up to 4 TES arrays. Further TES arrays will be deployed in the following years, fully populating the focal plane with 19 arrays on the fourth deployment year. Abstract

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a significant cause of community-acquired pneumonia, which is often empirically treated with macrolides (MLs), but, presently, resistance to MLs has been a matter of close clinical concern. This assay is intended to contribute to resistance detection of M. pneumoniae in clinical practice. A novel real-time PCR assay with two non-overlapping probes on the same nucleic acid strand was designed in this study. It could effectively detect all mutation types of M. pneumoniae in 23S rRNA at loci 2063 and 2064. The results were determined by the following methods: ΔCT < 0.5 for MLs-sensitive M. pneumoniae; ΔCT > 2.0 for MLs-resistant M. pneumoniae; 10 copies as a limit of detection for all types. For detection of M. pneumoniae in 92 clinical specimens, the consistency between the results of this assay and the frequently used real-time PCR results was 95.65%. The consistency of MLs resistance results between PCR sequencing and this assay was 100% in all 43 specimens. The assay could not only cover a comprehensive range of targets and have high detection sensitivity but is also directly used for detection and MLs analysis of M. pneumoniae in specimens. Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the change of economic structure on the emissions and energy use in China. The study uses the ChinaLINDA model, a calculation framework especially well-suited for analyzing structural change and sectoral shifts in Chinese economy and industry. We illustrate the implications of the different economic development paths up to year 2030 regarding emissions, energy use and employment with a set of three scenarios. In comparison with the reference scenario, the reduction in CO2 emission level in Policy scenario is less than 1 3 by 2030 even with huge investment in renewable energy capacity and a clear turn away from carbon-intensive growth pattern. Cumulatively the difference of emissions between the Reference scenario and Policy scenario within 2013–2030 is less than 20%. The Chinese CO2 intensity and energy intensity targets are rather stringent. Reaching the CO2 intensity target is difficult even with the optimistic assumption of fast expansion of renewable energy capacity and fast structural change. However, while the renewable energy capacity grows fast, targets set for it are not equally ambitious. The set CO2 intensity and energy intensity targets call for concretization of energy policy.

41. First report of macrolide-resistant and -susceptible Mycoplasma pneumoniaeclinical strains isolated from a single case

•First report of isolation of macrolide (ML)-resistant and -susceptible Mycoplasma pneumoniaeco-infecting the same patient.•Genotype 1 harbouring the A2063G mutation was resistant to MLs, while genotype 2 not carrying the mutation was susceptible.•Genotype 1 monoclones accounted for 70.8% (34/48) in Sp01 and 95.7% (44/46) in Sp13.•All genotype 1 monoclones were 4-5-7-2 MLVA type, while all genotype 2 monoclones were 3-5-6-2 type.•After treatment, proportion of resistant M. pneumoniaeincreased from 70.8% to 95.7%, but ML-susceptible strains remained.
