Reversible and dendrite‐free zinc (Zn) circulation is essential for longevous aqueous zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) and greatly impacted by the property of Zn interface and electrolyte, especially when confronted with high current density and large area capacity. Herein, a hierarchical Zn interface is constructed by the preferential anion surfactant adsorption and reaction, and assists to reduce the interfacial energy and side reactions for enhanced diffusion kinetics and reversibility during Zn plating/stripping. Thus, highly reversible and smooth Zn anodes are achieved with a long‐term stability of 5500 h at 1 mA cm−2/1 mAh cm−2, an impressive rate up to 40 mA cm−2 for 10 mAh cm−2 and a large cumulative plating capacity of 4.45 Ah cm−2 at 10 mA cm−2 in Zn symmetric cells. Even under a high depth of discharge of 60% (5.85/7.65 mAh cm−2), Zn symmetric batteries can still maintain ca. 800 h's life. The proposed countermeasure has also proved to be valid in prolonging the lifespan and stability of Zn‐MnO2 full batteries at both low and high cycling current densities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heavy alkyl benzene sulfonates are inexpensive surfactants that are extensively used as oil-displacing agents during tertiary oil recovery. Among these, C16–18 heavy alkyl benzene sulfonates possess an excellent ability to reduce the oil-water interface tension. In this study, hexadecylbenzene sulfonic acid (HBSA) was synthesised in a continuous stirred-tank microreactor using a continuous method with 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) dilution. Post-sulfonation liquid SO3 solution was used as a sulfonating agent for hexadecylbenzene (HDB). The effects of reaction conditions, such as the SO3:HDB molar ratio, sulfonation temperature and sulfonation agent concentration, on the yield and purity of the product were investigated. Optimisation of the reaction process yielded high-quality HBSA samples with a purity exceeding 99 wt%. The continuous sulfonation process significantly enhanced the production and efficiency in the case of a considerably short residence time (10 s) in the reactor, without the need for aging. The results of this study demonstrate significant potential for application in industrial production.

Efficient dual‐single‐atom catalysts are crucial for enhancing atomic efficiency and promoting the commercialization of fuel cells, but addressing the sluggish kinetics of hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) in alkaline media and the facile dual‐single‐atom site generation remains formidable challenges. Here, we break the local symmetry of ultra‐small ruthenium (Ru) nanoparticles by embedding cobalt (Co) single atoms, which results in the release of Ru single atoms from Ru nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide (Co1Ru1,n/rGO). In situ operando spectroscopy and theoretical calculations reveal that the oxygen‐affine Co atom disrupts the symmetry of ultra‐small Ru nanoparticles, resulting in parasitic Ru and Co dual‐single‐atom within Ru nanoparticles. The interaction between Ru single atoms and nanoparticles forms effective active centers. The parasitism of Co atoms modulates the adsorption of OH intermediates on Ru active sites, accelerating HOR kinetics through faster formation of *H2O. As anticipated, Co1Ru1,n/rGO exhibits ultrahigh mass activity (7.68 A mgRu−1) at 50 mV and exchange current density (0.68 mA cm−2), which are 6 and 7 times higher than those of Ru/rGO, respectively. Notably, it also displays exceptional durability surpassing that of commercial Pt catalysts. The host population in epidemiology may actually be at risk of more than two infectious diseases with stochastic complicated interaction, e.g., HIV and HBV. In this paper, we propose a class of stochastic epidemic model that applies the double epidemic hypothesis and Crowley-Martin incidence rate in order to explore how stochastic disturbances affect the spread of diseases. While disregarding stochastic disturbances, we examine the dynamic features of the system in which the local stability of equilibria are totally determined by the basic reproduction numbers. We focus particularly on the threshold dynamics of the corresponding stochastic system, and we obtain the extinction and permanency conditions for a pair of infectious diseases. We find that the threshold dynamics of the deterministic and stochastic systems vary significantly: (ⅰ) disease outbreaks can be controlled by appropriate stochastic disturbances; (ⅱ) diseases die out when the intensity of environmental perturbations is higher. The effects of certain important parameters on deterministic and stochastic disease transmission were obtained through numerical simulations. Our observations indicate that controlling epidemics should improve the effectiveness of prevention measures for susceptible individuals while improving the effectiveness of treatment for infected individuals.
