The possibility of incorporating organic manure (OM) to reduced rates of chemical fertilizers to augment biomass production and carbon sequestration (Cseq) and the role of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) uptake in vegetation Cseq were investigated through pot experiment with 1-year-old Zanthoxylum armatum seedlings. Seven treatments were designed, including NPK, PK, NP, NK, OM, MNPK (50% NPK + 50% OM), and control (CK, no fertilization). MNPK application improved nutrient uptake of 2.76-fold N, 3.34-fold P, and 2.01-fold K, resulting in the highest biomass production and biomass Cseq (1.65-fold) as compared to CK. Correlation and redundancy analysis revealed that Cseq is significantly associated with biomass production (r = 0.994) and regulated by N and P uptake. The highest nutrient use efficiency was recorded for N (38.8%), followed by K (21.1%) and P (16.4%) under MNPK application. Therefore, MNPK could be an optimum measure regarding fertilizer saving, biomass production, and attaining C neutrality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic, progressive, and inflammatory autoimmune disease of unknown origin that affects the axial skeleton and sacroiliac joints, resulting in pain and loss of function. AS is characterized by the overdifferentiation of T helper 17 (Th17) cells, which contribute to the development of the disease. The Hippo signaling pathway is an important regulator of Th17 differentiation, but its role in patients with AS is unclear. We aimed to investigate the role of key molecules of the Hippo signaling pathway in inflammatory Th17 differentiation in patients with AS and to examine their correlation with disease stages. Methods: We examined the activity of the Hippo pathway in patients with AS and the regulation of Th17 differentiation during AS‐mediated inflammation. Blood samples were collected from 60 patients with AS at various stages and 30 healthy controls. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from peripheral blood by density gradient centrifugation. The Serum Interleukin‐17 (IL‐17) levels in patients with AS and healthy controls were quantified by ELISA. The key molecules of Hippo pathway were assessed by real‐time PCR for their mRNA expression, and protein levels were determined by Western blot analysis. Results: Elevated serum interleukin‐17 (IL‐17) levels were observed in patients with AS compared with healthy controls. The protein and mRNA levels of retinoic acid receptor‐related orphan receptor γt (RORγt), transcriptional coactivator with a PDZ‐binding motif (TAZ), and key upstream transcription factors in the Hippo signaling pathway were measured. The expression of RORγt and TAZ was increased in the blood of patients with AS, whereas the expression of other Hippo pathway proteins, such as MST1/2 and NDR1/2, was significantly decreased. Increased levels of IL‐17 and TAZ were significantly associated with disease activity. In addition, MST1, MST2, and NDR1 levels were negatively correlated with TAZ, RORγt, and IL‐17 levels. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the Hippo pathway plays a significant role in the regulation of Th17 differentiation and disease activity in patients with AS. The upregulation of TAZ and downregulation of key Hippo pathway proteins, such as MST1/2 and NDR1/2, may contribute to AS pathogenesis. This paper examines the impacts of a government‐led e‐commerce expansion project on household income. We find that the project has led to increases in rural household income. The positive impacts are more prominent for lower‐income rural households. The income‐increasing effects are driven by the reduction in information search costs and transportation costs. The provision of complementary interventions for e‐commerce, such as promoting the internet‐related skills of farmers and the expansion of formal financial credit support is also important for the program's success. The results provide policy implications for the design and implementation of government‐led e‐commerce policies in developing economies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This meta‐analysis examined the post‐operative wound effect of both obese and non‐obese in total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients. To gather as complete an overview as possible, the researchers took advantage of 4 databases—PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science—to conduct a critical assessment. Following the development of inclusion and exclusion criteria, the researchers evaluated the quality of each document. A total of 9 related trials were conducted to determine the 95% CI (CI) and OR using a fixed‐effect model. The final meta‐analyses were conducted with RevMan 5.3. Our findings indicate that there is no statistically significant benefit in terms of post‐operative wound complications among obese and non‐obese patients. Obese subjects had a significantly higher risk of injury than those without obesity (OR, 1.43; 95% CI, 1.04, 1.95, p = 0.03); obesity was also associated with a significantly higher risk of operative site infection than in non‐obese subjects (OR, 1.96; 95% CI, 1.76, 2.18, p < 0.0001); and after surgery, there was also a significant increase in the risk of post‐operative wound infections among obese subjects than in non‐obese subjects (OR, 1.57; 95% CI, 1.34, 1.84, p < 0.0001). However, due to the small size of the cohort study in this meta‐study, caution is required in the analysis. More randomized, controlled studies will be needed to validate these results.
