Abstract

Organic molecules with second near‐infrared (NIR‐II, 1000–1700 nm) emission have significant advantages over NIR‐I (600–900 nm) dyes, and have been widely used as phototheranostic agents (PTAs) and fluorescent probes. However, the two biggest challenges for such reagents are improving photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE), and simplifying tedious synthetic procedures. Herein, different from the traditional NIR skeleton, for the first time, it develops two novel dibenzofulvene‐based NIR‐II emission PTAs via D‐π‐A concept with high PCEs through two simple synthetic steps. The increased intramolecular charge transfer effect and extended π‐conjugation effectively red‐shift their emissions to the NIR‐II region. In addition, the introduction of molecular rotors/vibrators and the formation of π–π stacking prompt the two PTAs to exhibit high PCEs. Notably, FE‐IDMN nanoparticles (FE‐IDMN NPs) achieve an exciting PCE of 82.6%, higher than most reported photothermal agents with NIR‐II emission. FE‐IDMN NPs also possess good colloidal, pH, and photothermal stabilities, as well as excellent photoacoustic response, which is further successfully applied for NIR‐II fluorescence/photoacoustic/photothermal imaging‐guided photothermal therapy. 15. A field experiment on surface wave isolation by partially embedded periodic pile barriers.

Abstract

The bandgap characteristics of periodic structures show a great application prospect in seismic isolation and vibration mitigation. A T-shaped partially embedded periodic pile barrier is designed and studied based on the Bloch's theorem. The proposed structure is fabricated and tested in field experiment to validate the simulation and the isolation performance. Good agreements are observed between the measured and the corresponding simulated results which present effective isolation for surface waves. The influences of the embedded length in the soil and the arrangement of the pile are investigated. The results show that the embedded length is the key parameter affecting the vibration attenuation. The smaller the embedded length, the lower the frequency of attenuation zone, and thanks to the embedded length; the proposed barrier exhibits better performances than the fully embedded and non-embedded barriers in maximum bandgap width, tunability, and feasibility in engineering. Abstract

A novel approach for determining the reactivity of dissolving pulp according to the chemical oxygen demand (COD) of water has been discussed. First, a sample of dissolving pulp was subjected to mercerization and xanthation in order to obtain dissolved cellulose fractions. Next, the fractions were digested with a testing solution as applied in COD procedures. Finally, the resulting liquid was rapidly tested by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis). By quantifying the absorbance of Cr3+ at a wavelength of 600 nm, the reactivity of dissolving pulp was indirectly calculated. The results measured by this novel COD method correlated well with the most accepted Fock test results with less than 10% relative difference. Meanwhile, this newly developed COD method required less time-consuming procedures as compared to the Fock test.

21. Evolution Toward the Observational Features of a Stripped Envelope Type IIb Supernova in a Binary System

Abstract

Type IIb supernovae (SNe IIb) that have a thin layer of hydrogen left in their outer envelope have been believed to belong to core collapse supernovae. Mass transfer via Roche lobe overflow can significantly change the nucleosynthesis and surface chemical elements of the progenitors of SNe IIb. We aim to explore what conditions a close binary can meet with the observational features of SNe IIb. We find that an observed low mass SN IIb cannot be produced by a low mass isolated star with M < 20 M ⊙ due to the existence of a thick hydrogen envelope regardless of rotation. Binaries dominate as progenitors in the mass interval (i.e., M < 20 M ⊙) considered in this paper. The 16 M ⊙ primary with a 14 M ⊙ companion in a binary system with ∼10 days < P orb < 720 days can reproduce observational features of SNe IIb (i.e., T eff, log L / L ⊙ , M He, M H, etc.). With the decrease of the hydrogen-rich envelope mass, the radius of the progenitor shrinks. The associated types of SN IIb progenitors from RSGs and YSGs to BSGs are closely related to the amount of hydrogen left in the envelopes. Rotation can bring the production of the CNO reaction to the stellar surface at an early phase, which would explain the nitrogen-rich circumstellar material of SN 1993J and can also explain the large He/H ratio of supernova ejecta. Rotation can increase the corresponding region of the orbital period which can produce an SN IIb.

Abstract

Association rules tell us interesting relationships between different items in transaction database. Traditional association rule has two disadvantages. Firstly, it assumes every two items have same significance in database, which is unreasonable in many real applications and usually leads to incorrect results. Secondly, traditional association rule representation contains too much redundancy which makes it difficult to be mined and used. This paper addresses the problem of mining weighted concise association rules based on closed itemsets under weighted support-significant framework, in which each item with different significance is assigned different weight. Through exploiting specific technique, the proposed algorithm can mine all weighted concise association rules while duplicate weighted itemset search space is pruned. As illustrated in experiments, the proposed method leads to good results and achieves good performance.

Abstract

A new pyrazolate-bridged quasi-hexacopper(II) complex [Cu3(μ3-OH)(μ-pz)3(pzH)3 (μ3-ClO4)]2(μ-ClO4)2 · (CH3OH)0.33 · (C2H5OH)0.66 · H2O (pz = pyrazolate), 1, has been isolated and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR and UV-visible spectra and magnetic susceptibilities. The complex crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pbca ( [image omitted], No. 61), a = 17.771(4) Å, b = 16.143(4) Å, c = 25.502(6) Å, V = 7316(3) Å3, Z = 8, F(000) = 3521, Dc = 1.576 g cm-3. The structure of 1 consists of two [Cu3(μ3-OH)(μ-pz)3(pzH)3(μ3-ClO4)]2+ trimers, which are weakly bridged by two perchlorate ions via centrosymmetric operation to form a trigonal prism with the six Cu atoms at six vertexes. Magnetic measurements were performed in the temperature range 2-300 K. The experimental data above 9 K could be satisfactorily reproduced by using an isotropic exchange model, [image omitted] (1), with parameters of J = -241.91 cm-1, ZJ' = -23.04 cm-1 and g = 2.07, showing strong antiferromagnetic behaviors in Cu3 unit and weak intertrimer magnetic interaction. Abstract

The directed assembly of N,N‐bis(benzimidazol‐2‐yl‐methyl)amine (BMA), 4,4′‐bipyridine (4,4′‐bipy) and NiIIor MnIIsalts resulted in the formation of  the novel compounds [{Ni(BMA)(SCN)2}2]·(μ‐4,4′‐bipy)(DMSO)2(1) and [{Mn(BMA)(SCN)2}2]·(μ‐4,4′‐bipy) (2), which were characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV/Vis spectroscopy and magnetic measurement. The X‐ray single‐crystal analysis reveals that 1 and 2 are discrete dinuclear compounds bridged by 4,4′‐bipy, further arranged in multidimensional supramolecular networks which are stabilized by different modes of hydrogen bonding and π–π interactions. Variable‐temperature magnetic measurements (2–300 K) of 1and 2were modeled with magnetic coupling constants J= –0.16 and –0.022 cm–1, respectively showing the weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the two metal ions in each dinuclear complex, which is also observed for similar 4,4′‐bipyridine bridging complexes.

In the title compound, C(9)H(9)BrO(3), the dihedral angle between the ethanone group and the aromatic ring is 3.6 (2)°. The mol-ecular conformation is consolidated by an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The crystal structure is stabilized by π-π inter-actions between the benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.588 (2) Å].
