1. Successive one-sided Hodrick-Prescott filter with incremental filtering algorithm for nonlinear economic time series

Abstract

We propose a successive one-sided Hodrick-Prescott (SOHP) filter from multiple time scale decomposition perspective to derive trend estimate for a time series. The idea is to apply the one-sided HP (OHP) filter recursively on the updated cyclical component to extract the trend residual on multiple time scales, thereby to improve the trend estimate. To address the issue of optimization with a moving horizon as that of the SOHP filter, we present an incremental HP filtering algorithm, which greatly simplifies the involved inverse matrix operation and reduces the computational demand of the basic HP filtering. Actually, the new algorithm also applies effectively to other HP-type filters, especially for large-size or expanding data scenario. Numerical examples on real economic data show the better performance of the SOHP filter in comparison with other known HP-type filters.

Abstract

Radiopharmaceuticals derived from targeted molecules labeled with radioiodine have always been the research hotspots in the field of nuclear medicine. Radioiodine labeling also has a clear application demand in pharmacokinetic research. Methods for radioiodine labeling include direct labeling method and indirect labeling method. Direct labeling method has the advantages of rapid reaction, simple operation and high radiochemical yield, but it has the problems of narrow scope of application and deiodination in vivo; and for the indirect method, although radioiodine labeled drugs shows good stability in vivo, it has the problems as complicated process and low radiochemical yield. With the purpose of providing reference for the development of radioiodine labeled drugs and isotope pharmacokinetics study, this paper introduced the research progress, application scope, advantages and disadvantages of radioiodine labeling methods, and prospected the development of radioiodine labeling methods.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Extreme learning machine (ELM) is combined with the discretized whale optimization algorithm (WOA) for spectral quantitative analysis of complex samples. In this method, the spectral variables selected by the discretized WOA were used to build the ELM model. Before establishing the model, the activation function and the number of hidden nodes in ELM as well as the transfer function of the discretized WOA are determined. Furthermore, the predictive performance of the full‐spectrum partial least squares (PLS), ELM, and WOA‐ELM models was compared with four complex sample datasets: blood, light gas oil and diesel fuels, ternary mixture, and corn samples using root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) and correlation coefficient (R). The results show that the WOA‐ELM model has the best prediction accuracy compared to full‐spectrum PLS and ELM models. Therefore, the proposed method provides a novel approach for the quantitative analysis of complex samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A series of novel near-infrared (NIR) xanthene-chalcone fluorophores were constructed through a modular synthesis with the electron-donating xanthene moiety and the electron-withdrawing chalcone moiety. These fluorophores are convenient for fluorescence imaging in living cells, benefiting from their NIR emissions (650–710 nm), large Stokes shifts (>100 nm), moderate quantum yields and low cytotoxicity. The substituted hydroxyl group of the xanthene-chalcone fluorophore HCA-E facilitates the development of multifunctional fluorescent probes. As an example, a highly sensitive and selective probe N-HCA-E for glutathione (GSH) detection was developed based on the fluorophore HCA-E. A 4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl (4-Ns) group was introduced to cage the hydroxyl group of HCA-E, which was used as a selective recognition site for the thiol of GSH and an effective fluorescence quencher. Probe N-HCA-E revealed NIR "turn-on" fluorescence (709 nm) for endogenous and exogenous GSH detection in lysosomes with a large Stokes shift (129 nm) and high anti-interference ability.
