Abstract

In this paper, a rotating functionally graded (FG) polymer nanocomposite shaft-disk assembly reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) resting on elastic supports is modelled and its vibration behaviours are analysed. The effective material properties of the shaft and disk are assumed to vary along their radius directions and determined via the Halpin–Tsai model together with the rule of mixture. Different non-uniform and uniform distributions of GPLs in the rotating assembly are taken into account. In accordance with the finite element (FE) method, the modelling and free vibration analysis of the nanocomposite shaft-disk rotor system is conducted. To verify the present analysis, both the theoretical and experimental methods are employed. A comprehensive parametric study on the effects of the graphene nanoplatelets (GPL) weight fraction, GPL distribution pattern, length-to-thickness ratio and length-to-width ratio of GPLs, shaft length, elastic support stiffness and rotating speed on the free vibration results are investigated, which gives effective ways to achieve improved mechanical performance of a rotating nanocomposite disk-shaft assembly. 19. G12V190 Type Diesel Engine Exhaust Muffler Design Based on Transfer Matrix Method

Abstract

In this paper the diesel engine exhaust noise in petroleum well workplaces has been measured, the peak values scatters mainly in the low-frequency range, and the top value has reached 123dB. Based on transfer matrix method, this paper analyzes six kinds of silencing elements and establishes optimizing calculation procedure for diesel engine exhaust muffler. According to optimizing calculation procedure and exhaust noise frequency spectrum characteristic of diesel engine, we have designed a new large amount resistance muffler for G12V190 type diesel engine. After petroleum well scene experiment, the insertion loss of exhaust muffler has reached 33dB.

20. Molten Salt Synthesis of LaPO4:Eu3+

Abstract

Eu doped LaPO4 nanocrystals were successfully synthesized by molten salt method calcined at 700°C. The structure, morphology and photoluminescence of as-synthesized product were characterized. The results reveal that all the doped samples are well crystalline at 700°C and assigned to the monoclinic monazite-type structure of the LaPO4 phase. It has been shown that the obtained nanocrystals to be long rod-like with diameters of 5-10 nm and length of 100-150 nm. The luminescence intensities strongly improved due to the high crystallinity because of the molten salt as the medium in thermal treatment posscess.

21. Influence of Calcining Temperature on the Microstructure of LaPO4 Powders

Abstract

Nanometer LaPO4 powders were synthesized by liquid-liquid direct precipitation method. La(NO3)3•6H2O and (NH4)3PO4•3H2O were used as raw materials. The calcining temperature was 900°C, 1000°C, 1100°C, respectively. DTA result shows that the LaPO4 precursor is LaPO4•4H2O. The calicined powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and exhibited a pure LaPO4 phase with a monazite structure about 50-100 nm in diameter size. With the calcining temperature increasing, the crystallization of the LaPO4 became better and the grain shape changed from elongated grain shape to spherical grain shape.
