In order to verify the effect of the new fully biodegradable external dressing on the repair of diabetes skin wounds and the promotion of wound healing, this study applied sodium alginate hydrogel dressing products which are supplemented with phage and conotoxin analgesic peptides to the skin lesions of diabetes mice, and comprehensively used the quantitative measurement of serological indicators, Image J Tissue section and other techniques to evaluate the effect of the new hydrogel dressing on the repair of diabetes wounds and the promotion of wound healing. The behavioral observation and analysis of mice did not show obvious regularity and difference. According to the results of serum cytokine analysis, functional hydrogel dressings can promote cell regeneration and wound healing in mice. Image J software analysis showed that the healing results of the experimental group were better than those of the negative control group, and the percentage of collagen fiber content showed an upward trend. Through comprehensive evaluation, it can be observed that the new fully biodegradable external dressing has obvious positive effects on wound healing, collagen fiber reconstruction and wound infection prevention of diabetes. The new biodegradable dressing not only promotes wound healing but also solves environmental pollution problems. It meets the sustainable development needs of society and has broad application prospects.

In order to verify the effect of the new green and low-carbon hydrogel dressing on promoting wound healing, this project applied a sodium alginate hydrogel dressing product containing Escherichia coli and taro toxin analgesic polypeptide (The specific ingredients of the dressing) to skin wounds in common rats. Effects of the hydrogel dressing on promoting skin wound healing was evaluated by observing the occurrence and frequency of behavioral changes in rats, observing wwhistological sections under a high-power microscope, changes in serum cytokine indicators, and Image J analysis of collagen fiber reconstruction ratios in tissue sections. Through comprehensive evaluation, it can be found that hydrogel dressing has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-infection effects on rat wound surface, and acts on promoting wound healing, promoting the formation of new blood vessels in the damaged skin tissue area, promoting the growth of granulation tissue, and promoting the reconstruction of collagen fibers in wound tissue.

Abstract Background Traditional Chinese medicine uses various herbs for the treatment of various diseases for thousands of years and it is now time to assess the characteristics and effectiveness of these medicinal plants based on modern genetic and molecular tools. The herb Flos Lonicerae Japonicae (FLJ or Lonicera japonica Thunb.) is used as an anti-inflammatory agent but the chemical quality of FLJ and its medicinal efficacy has not been consistent. Here, we analyzed the transcriptomes and metabolic pathways to evaluate the active medicinal compounds in FLJ and hope that this approach can be used for a variety of medicinal herbs in the future. Results We assess transcriptomic differences between FLJ and L. japonica Thunb. var. chinensis (Watts) (rFLJ), which may explain the variable medicinal effects. We acquired transcriptomic data (over 100 million reads) from the two herbs, using RNA-seq method and the Illumina GAII platform. The transcriptomic profiles contain over 6,000 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) for each of the three flower development stages from FLJ, as well as comparable amount of ESTs from the rFLJ flower bud. To elucidate enzymatic divergence on biosynthetic pathways between the two varieties, we correlated genes and their expression profiles to known metabolic activities involving the relevant active compounds, including phenolic acids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and fatty acids. We also analyzed the diversification of genes that process the active compounds to distinguish orthologs and paralogs together with the pathways concerning biosynthesis of phenolic acid and its connections with other related pathways. Conclusions Our study provides both an initial description of gene expression profiles in flowers of FLJ and its counterfeit rFLJ and the enzyme pool that can be used to evaluate FLJ quality. Detailed molecular-level analyses allow us to decipher the relationship between metabolic pathways involved in processing active medicinal compounds and gene expressions of their processing enzymes. Our evolutionary analysis revealed specific functional divergence of orthologs and paralogs, which lead to variation in gene functions that govern the profile of active compounds.

Outbreaks of bacterial diseases occur in farmed Chinese longsnout catfish (Leiocassis longirostris). Due to limited information on aquatic Klebsiella variicola-infected animals, this study aimed to identify strain LL2208 isolated from diseased L. longirostris, determine its biological features, and evaluate its risk to public health. Strain LL2208 was tested for molecular identification, challenge, string, biofilm formation, and antimicrobial susceptibility. Furthermore, the whole genome of the strain was sequenced and analyzed. Based on molecular identification, strain LL2208 was identified as K. variicola. Artificial infection showed that this strain was moderately virulent to L. longirostris with an LD50 = 7.92 × 107 CFU/mL. Antibiotic sensitivity tests showed that this strain was resistant to penicillins, macrolides, aminoglycosides, amphenicols, glycopeptides, and lincosamide, indicating multidrug resistance. Strain LL2208 has a genome size of 5,557,050 bp, with a GC content of 57.38%, harboring 30 antimicrobial resistance genes and numerous virulence-related genes. Its molecular type was ST595-KL16-O5. Collinearity analysis showed that strain LL2208 was highly similar to the human-derived K. variicola strain. In conclusion, the multidrug-resistant and virulent K. variicola strain LL2208 was isolated from fish and may have originated from humans. With the swift advancement of wearable electronics and artificial intelligence, the integration of electronic devices with the human body has advanced significantly, leading to enhanced real-time health monitoring and remote disease diagnosis. Despite progress in developing stretchable materials with skin-like mechanical properties, there remains a need for materials that also exhibit high optical transparency. Supercapacitors, as promising energy storage devices, offer advantages such as portability, long cycle life, and rapid charge/discharge rates, but achieving high capacity, stretchability, and transparency simultaneously remains challenging. This study combines the stretchable, transparent polymer PEDOT:PSS with MnO2 nanoparticles to develop high-performance, stretchable, and transparent supercapacitors. PEDOT:PSS films were deposited on a PDMS substrate using a spin-coating method, followed by electrochemical deposition of MnO2 nanoparticles. This method ensured that the nanosized MnO2 particles were uniformly distributed, maintaining the transparency and stretchability of PEDOT:PSS. The resulting PEDOT:PSS/MnO2 nanoparticle electrodes were gathered into a symmetric device using a LiCl/PVA gel electrolyte, achieving an areal capacitance of 1.14 mF cm−2 at 71.2% transparency and maintaining 89.92% capacitance after 5000 cycles of 20% strain. This work presents a scalable and economical technique to manufacturing supercapacitors that combine high capacity, transparency, and mechanical stretchability, suggesting potential applications in wearable electronics. In the evolving landscape of portable electronics, there is a critical demand for components that meld stretchability with optical transparency, especially in supercapacitors. Traditional materials fall short in harmonizing conductivity, stretchability, transparency, and capacity. Although poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) stands out as an exemplary candidate, further performance enhancements are necessary to meet the demands of practical applications. This study presents an innovative and effective method for enhancing electrochemical properties by homogeneously incorporating Ru(III) into PEDOT:PSS. These Ru(III) PEDOT:PSS complexes are readily synthesized by dipping PEDOT:PSS films in RuCl3 solution for no longer than one minute, leveraging the high specific capacitance of Ru(III) while minimizing interference with transmittance. The supercapacitor made with this Ru(III) PEDOT:PSS complex demonstrated an areal capacitance of 1.62 mF cm−2 at a transmittance of 73.5%, which was 155% higher than that of the supercapacitor made with PEDOT:PSS under comparable transparency. Notably, the supercapacitor retained 87.8% of its initial capacitance even under 20% tensile strain across 20,000 cycles. Drought stress is a major abiotic factor affecting tomato production and fruit quality. However, the genes and metabolites associated with tomato responses to water deficiency and rehydration are poorly characterized. To identify the functional genes and key metabolic pathways underlying tomato responses to drought stress and recovery, drought-susceptible and drought-tolerant inbred lines underwent transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses. A total of 332 drought-responsive and 491 rehydration-responsive core genes were robustly differentially expressed in both genotypes. The drought-responsive and rehydration-responsive genes were mainly related to photosynthesis–antenna proteins, nitrogen metabolism, plant–pathogen interactions, and the MAPK signaling pathway. Various transcription factors, including homeobox-leucine zipper protein ATHB-12, NAC transcription factor 29, and heat stress transcription factor A-6b-like, may be vital for tomato responses to water status. Moreover, 24,30-dihydroxy-12(13)-enolupinol, caffeoyl hawthorn acid, adenosine 5′-monophosphate, and guanosine were the key metabolites identified in both genotypes under drought and recovery conditions. The combined transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis highlighted the importance of 38 genes involved in metabolic pathways, the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, the biosynthesis of amino acids, and ABC transporters for tomato responses to water stress. Our results provide valuable clues regarding the molecular basis of drought tolerance and rehydration. Silver nanowires (AgNWs) have shown great potential in various optical and electronic applications, especially in flexible and wearable devices. Polyol method is now a mainstream strategy to synthesize AgNWs. However, unreacted reagents including silver salt, surfactant, and solvent are usually discarded after the collection of products, resulting in a huge waste as well as a burden to the environment. In this work, we demonstrate a simple recycle method to reuse these reagents based on a two-step direct centrifugation protocol. Larger nanowires are separated, while remaining small nanowires and nanoparticles provide nucleation sites and likely function as catalysts to achieve a three-times faster nanowire growth. The cyclic synthesis can maintain at least five consecutive rounds to produce AgNWs with similar size and yield and more rounds under suitable adjustment of Ag+ supply. Transparent conductive films based on AgNWs grown from recycled reagents show excellent and consistent optoelectronic performance, namely, a sheet resistance of 141.3 Ω/sq at a transmittance of 99.7% and 9.48 Ω/sq at 92.9%. A transparent heater with a PDMS/AgNWs/PET structure exhibits a resistance of 8.6 Ω at a total transmittance of 76.5% and is heated to 75.8 °C at a 3.5 V power supply. A fast-defrosting process is demonstrated. The recycling method significantly reduces the cost of AgNW production and may widen their application in high-performance flexible devices.
