Abstract Introduction In Ghana, access to health care is impeded mostly by financial capital. The National Health Insurance (NHIS) rolled out in 2003 was an attempt to remove cost as a barrier and help bridge this gap in health access. Despite the benefits, enrolment and use have been low. Hence a need to assess the knowledge, access and satisfaction of pregnant women on the use of NHIS to access healthcare. Materials and methods The study employed a facility-based descriptive cross-sectional study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from a total of 387 pregnant women using a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected to gain an insight into the knowledge, accessibility and satisfaction level of pregnant women on the usage of NHIS. Data was analyzed using Stata version 17.0 and results were presented in frequency tables. Results Overall, most of the pregnant women had a good knowledge of 228 (67.5%) and a high accessibility of 279 (82.5%) to using NHIS use it in accessing healthcare. Whilst for satisfaction, 311 (92.01%) said they were satisfied with the services and would prefer the use of NHIS to out-of-pocket payment. Conclusion In the current study the level of knowledge, accessibility, and satisfaction of NHIS is high. However, to sustain this gain, a multidimensional approach to community education should be intensified.

BackgroundMalaria in pregnancy (MiP) is a preventable condition leading to maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Invariably, with all the knowledge about the serious consequences of MiP for the woman, the unborn child, and the neonate, the uptake of Intermittent Preventive Treatment of Malaria in pregnancy using sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (IPTp-SP) is low in most malaria-endemic countries, including Ghana. This study sought to examine the uptake and service user predictors of the implementation of IPTp-SP after the policy upgrade in 2014.MethodsThis cross-sectional survey was carried out in two selected districts in the Volta Region. The study participants were randomly selected from communities within Nkwanta North and North Tongu District. A total of 438 mothers who have delivered in the past 24 months were selected for the study. The women were interviewed on their background, knowledge, and attitude toward the use of IPTp-SP using a structured questionnaire. Multiple logistic regression was done to determine the factors that influence the demand for IPTp-SP. The results were presented in the form of tables.ResultsThe mean number of antenatal care (ANC) attendance was 5 (SD:2.6) visits per client, with 262 (59.82%) of them getting the 3+ doses of IPTp-SP. Also, a significant 44 (10.1%) of the mothers did not receive any dose of IPTp-SP. Respondents who attended antenatal clinics 4-7 times had 7 (CI:3.9-12.3) times higher uptake of 3+ doses of IPTp-SP as compared to others who attended less than 4 visits. Similarly, women who had 8 or more visits had a 16.1 (CI: 5.9-43.6) times higher chance of getting more than 2 doses of IPTp-SP compared with others who had fewer than 4 attendances.ConclusionThe uptake of 3+ doses of IPTp-SP is still lower than the global target of 80%. Thus, the need for innovative interventions aimed at improving antenatal attendance and early booking for IPTp-SP are recommended.

The women were interviewed using a structured questionnaire and the bivariate and multivariable logistic regression results presented in tables.ResultsThe level of knowledge, and attitude were reported as 45.9% and 58.9% respectively. Knowledge of the service user is determined by the level of education of the women. The attitude of the service user is determined by making 4-7 visits during ANC, Gestational age at booking for ANC is 4-7 weeks, income level between 100 to 999, partner educational level above Middle/JHS/JSS, and age of a partner is above 40 years.ConclusionThe findings from the present studies highlighted important factor such as number of antenatal visits that affect both knowledge of services and attitude to use IPTp-SP. Therefore, a community-based health promotion programmes to help to increase knowledges and improved attitude on timely and regular antenatal attendance to promote the benefit of IPTp-SP should be encouraged.

Abstract Background Malaria in pregnancy control interventions have been implemented through antenatal care services for more than 2 decades in Ghana. The uptake of these interventions has seen steady improvement over the years. This has occurred within the context of decreasing global trends of malaria infection confirmed by decreasing malaria in pregnancy prevalence in Ghana. However, not much is known about how these improvements in interventions uptake and reduction in malaria infection prevalence have impacted pregnancy outcomes in the country. This study aimed at describing trends of maternal anaemia and low birth weight prevalence and uptake of malaria in pregnancy control interventions over the last decade using data from Ghana’s District Health Information Management System (DHIMS II). Methods Data from Ghana’s DHIMS II on variables of interest covering the period 2012 to 2021 was analysed descriptively using Microsoft Excel 365. Results were computed as averages and percentages and presented in tables and graphs. Results The prevalence of maternal anaemia at booking and at term and low birth weight increased marginally from 31.0%, 25.5% and 8.5% in 2012 to 36.6%, 31.9% and 9.5% in 2021 respectively. Severe anaemia prevalence at booking and at term remained under 2% over the study period. Women making at least 4 ANC visits, receiving at least 3 doses of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria and an insecticide-treated net increased from 77.0%, 41.4% and 4.1% in 2012 to 82%, 55.0% and 93.3% in 2021, respectively. Malaria test positivity rate reduced from 54.0% to 34.3% between 2014 and 2021 while women receiving iron and folate supplementation for 3 and 6 months rose from 43.0% and 25.5% to 89.7% and 61.8%, respectively between 2017 and 2021. Conclusion Maternal anaemia and low birth weight prevalence showed marginal upward trends over the last decade despite reduced malaria infection rate and improved uptake of malaria in pregnancy control interventions. There is room for improvement in current intervention implementation levels but the complex and multi-factorial aetiologies of maternal anaemia and low birth weight need urgent investigation and quantification to inform policy and practice.

Abstract Background and Aims Dementia is becoming a major global public health menace in the aging population affecting 47 million people globally. Dementia has no cure and effective interventions. Treatment of dementia is a big problem. The most common symptomatic medications for cognition, behavior, and global functioning among patients with dementia currently are cholinesterase inhibitors and memantine. However, Information on the effectiveness of cholinesterase inhibitors for dementia is conflicting and controversial. Thus, this makes it difficult for decision‐makers, healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers to decide on the most effective intervention. The current meta‐analysis sought to investigate the efficacy of pharmacologic interventions to improve cognitive and behavioral symptoms in people with living dementia. Methods This current systematic review and meta‐analysis used the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta‐analyses to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness. The Cochrane MEDLINE, Database of Systematic Reviews, and other databases were thoroughly searched for relevant studies. We selected Studies such as randomized controlled trials published in English with a sample size of at least 20 subjects. We selected and applied the random‐effects meta‐analysis as the most preferred model because of the heterogeneity across studies. The computation of the weighted effect size was based on the result from the test of heterogeneity. Results Twenty‐two studies were finally used in the meta‐analysis. Abstract Background Immunization has been an important public health intervention for preventing and reducing child morbidity and mortality over the years and coverage has increased in the past decades. However, the validity of the data from immunization coverages is usually disputed. Immunization data from health facilities show poor concordance between tallied registers and monthly reports as they are reported to higher levels of the health system. The study assessed the quality of data from routine immunization of some health facilities in the Ho central municipality in the Volta region of Ghana. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was used to review routine immunization data in tallied registers and reports submitted to the Municipal Health Directorate (MHD) from January to December, 2015. Simple random sampling was used to select three health facilities in Ho central municipality. The World Health Organization (WHO) Data Quality Self-assessment (DQS) tool was the main instrument used to present and analyze data for accuracy and discrepancy level between the tallied registers and reports. A template was created in Microsoft excel which automatically presented accuracy and discrepancy levels when data was entered. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from Ghana Health Service Ethics Review Committee. Results The result showed discrepancies between recounted tallies at the facilities and reports submitted to the MHD. Accuracy ratios of 102, 64 and 94% for Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG), Pentavalent (Penta) vaccine dose 3 and Measles 2 respectively indicating underreporting for BCG and over reporting for the rest were obtained. There was 460 over reported data to the municipal level representing accuracy ratio of 80% and discrepancy level of 20%. Conclusions Immunization data was characterized by underreporting and overreporting, hence not accurate and lacked quality. Immunization data quality should be a priority among health staff at health facilities.

Revolutionary technological advancements have introduced the integration of Conversational AI into a multitude of different settings. This widespread implementation has raised questions about the impact of AI on learning, its benefits are and its potential costs. This study aims to explore the perspectives of parents, investigating their confidence in allowing conversational AI tools to become part of children's learning. The study analyses survey responses of 101 parents to investigate how they feel about this emerging tool. Our primary hypothesis was that parents would be overall positive toward implementing conversational AI into education. Secondly, it was hypothesised that alongside the positivity, parents would also show moderate apprehension to their children using conversational AI. Results showed most participants would allow their children to use these tools in confidence, and believed they will learn quicker with authentic information provided by AI and when educational apps have AI integrated in their systems. In conclusion, participants generally had a positive outlook on the potential impact of conversational AI on the future of their children's education, in duality the study also finds a coinciding level of uncertainty and apprehension toward conversational AI is and its uses.

Team based learning (TBL) is a co-operative learning method, increasingly used online within our digitalised society. The aim of this study is to better understand the factors influencing student satisfaction and engagement with online TBL. The study measures student satisfaction, accountability and preference for online TBL across three compulsory psychology undergraduate modules; PY1604 (Clinical Psychology), PY1608 (Employability in Psychology) and PY1702 (Academic Skills in Psychology). Seventy-two psychology students enrolled at a UK university completed the TBL-SAI online survey, where they answered 33 statements relating to online TBL on a five-point Likert-type scale. It was found students were significantly more accountable in the TBL method for PY1608 and PY1604 and significantly less accountable for PY1702. It was also found that there was significantly higher satisfaction for PY1604 compared to both PY1702 and PY1608, as well as students attending significantly more PY1604 sessions than PY1702 and PY1608. Overall, there was no significant difference in preference for online TBL over online lectures when comparing the three modules. The findings support our hypothesis, that there would be differences across the three modules in terms of satisfaction, accountability and preference for online TBL.

Prostate cancer is frequently treated with radiotherapy. Unfortunately, aggressive radioresistant relapses can arise, and the molecular underpinnings of radioresistance are unknown. Modern clinical radiotherapy is evolving to deliver higher doses of radiation in fewer fractions (hypofractionation). We therefore analyzed genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data to characterize prostate cancer radioresistance in cells treated with both conventionally fractionated and hypofractionated radiotherapy. Independent of fractionation schedule, resistance to radiotherapy involved massive genomic instability and abrogation of DNA mismatch repair. Specific prostate cancer driver genes were modulated at the RNA and protein levels, with distinct protein subcellular responses to radiotherapy. Conventional fractionation led to a far more aggressive biomolecular response than hypofractionation. Testing preclinical candidates identified in cell lines, we revealed POLQ (DNA Polymerase Theta) as a radiosensitizer. POLQ-modulated radioresistance in model systems and was predictive of it in large patient cohorts. The molecular response to radiation is highly multimodal and sheds light on prostate cancer lethality.SignificanceRadiation is standard of care in prostate cancer. Yet, we have little understanding of its failure. We demonstrate a new paradigm that radioresistance is fractionation specific and identified POLQ as a radioresistance modulator.

Abstract Objectives To determine the incidence of later epilepsy in full‐term infants with neonatal encephalopathy (NE) who undergo continuous electroencephalography (cEEG) monitoring in the neonatal period and to identify potential predictors of later epilepsy both in infants with and without electrographic neonatal seizures (ENS). Methods This was a retrospective observational study performed at Cork University Maternity Hospital, Cork, Ireland, between 2003 and 2019. All term infants with NE had a minimum of 2 h of cEEG monitoring in the neonatal period. ENS were identified via cEEG monitoring. Pediatric medical charts were reviewed to determine if epilepsy developed after the neonatal period and to determine potential predictors of epilepsy in infants both with and without ENS. Results Two hundred and eighty infants were included. The overall incidence rate of epilepsy was 17.55 per 1000 person‐years (95% CI: 10.91 to 28.23). In infants with ENS (n = 82), the incidence rate was 39.27 per 1000 person‐years (95% CI: 22.30 to 69.16). In infants without ENS (n = 198), the incidence rate was 7.54 per 1000 person‐years (95% CI: 3.14 to 18.12). The incidence rate was significantly higher in the ENS group compared to the non‐ENS group (p‐value = 0.002). Several potential predictors for the development of later epilepsy were identified including infants delivered vaginally, low Apgar scores at 1 and 5 min, severe HIE diagnosis, presence of ENS, a severely abnormal EEG background and an abnormal brain MRI. Significance Following NE, term infants are at risk of epilepsy with a significantly higher incidence rate in infants who experience ENS compared to those who did not. Close follow‐up is required in both groups well into the childhood period. Plain Language Summary This study aimed to determine the occurrence of epilepsy in children who were monitored for seizures in the newborn period. The occurrence of epilepsy was higher in infants who experienced seizures in the newborn period compared to those who did not. Several potential predictors of later epilepsy were identified in both groups of infants (those with and without seizures in the newborn period). Both groups of infants require close follow‐up in childhood.

Abstract Synchrotron microbeam radiotherapy (MRT), which has entered the clinical transfer phase, requires the development of appropriate quality assurance (QA) tools due to very high dose rates and spatial hyperfractionation. A microstrip plastic scintillating detector system with associated modules was proposed in the context of real-time MRT QA. A prototype of such a system with 105 scintillating microstrips was developed and tested under MRT conditions. The signal obtained from each microstrip when irradiated was reproducible, linear with the dose, and independent of both the dose rate and the beam energy. The detector prototype was capable of measuring an entire 52-microbeam field in real time and exhibited outstanding radiation hardness. It could withstand more than 100 kGy absorbed dose, which is at least ten times higher than the doses reported in the literature for plastic scintillators before deterioration. The potential of this detector system in MRT QA was demonstrated in this study.

With the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in place, the quality of teacher education is a global concern. With so much talent mobility and brain circulation, any migration of low-quality educators from one region will affect the quality of education in the destination part of the global village. The study examined how the interplay in the aftermath of the cyclones, COVID-19, supervisors' quality, and student characteristics impacted student-teachers' experiences during the scrambled teaching practice supervision model. Thematic and content analyses of data from document analysis and semi-structured interviews from purposefully sampled Southern Africa Development Community countries revealed that relying on physical teaching practice supervision negatively impacts assessment, especially when even non-specialists are involved in the supervision. Educators' inadequate pedagogical content knowledge, space effect, and multiple exposures to assessment compromise teacher education amidst pandemics and natural disasters. The study recommends migration to computer-based online supervision strategies as a mitigation strategy. Recommendations for an educational policy, practicum, and architectural adaption are discussed.

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is arguably the most lethal human malignancy. It often co-occurs with differentiated thyroid cancers, yet the molecular origins of its aggressivity are unknown. We sequenced tumor DNA from 329 regions of thyroid cancer, including 213 from patients with primary anaplastic thyroid carcinomas. We also whole genome sequenced 9 patients using multi-region sequencing of both differentiated and anaplastic thyroid cancer components. Using these data, we demonstrate thatanaplastic thyroid carcinomas have a higher burden of mutations than other thyroid cancers, with distinct mutational signatures and molecular subtypes. Further, different cancer driver genes are mutated in anaplastic and differentiated thyroid carcinomas, even those arising in a single patient. Finally, we unambiguously demonstrate that anaplastic thyroid carcinomas share a genomic origin with co-occurring differentiated carcinomas and emerge from a common malignant field through acquisition of characteristic clonal driver mutations.

The response of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum) to the Self-regulating low energy clay-based irrigation (SLECI) system burying depth and fertilizer application dosage was investigated under open field conditions in the coastal savannah agroecological zone of Ghana. A factorial design with 3 SLECI system depths (5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm) and 3 fertilizer dosages (100% recommended application dosage RAD, 80% RAD and 60% RAD) was adopted. Data was measured, determined and analyzed at a significant (P ≤ 0.05) level. Results indicated that the highest yield of 0.7974 t/ha was recorded under a burying depth of 5 cm which is 8.6% and 63.9% more compared to 10 cm and 15 cm. Burying depth of 10 cm exhibited the highest water use efficiency of 0.1435 kg/l, which outperformed the 5 cm burying depth (0.1312 kg/l) and 15 cm burying depth (0.0517 kg/l) by 8.6% and 63.9%, similarly a depth of 10 cm (5,980 kg/kg) exhibited significantly greater fertilizer use efficiency over a depth of 15 cm (2,154 kg/kg) by 64% and 5 cm by (5.465 kg/kg). The highest yield of 0.8772 t/ha was exhibited by 80% RAD which is 29.5% and 63.7% more compared to 100% RAD (0.6179 t/ha) and 60% RAD (0.3181 t/ha) respectively. 80% RAD exhibited significantly superior water use efficiency of 0.1579 kg/l, and fertilizer use efficiency of 6,579 kg/kg. The interaction of burying depth of 10 cm and 80% RAD significantly produced the highest yield of 1,187.7 t/ha, resulted in the highest water use efficiency of 0.214 kg/l, and exhibited the best-performing fertilizer use efficiency of 8,908 kg/kg.

Abstract Skin-to-skin contact between the mother and baby during the first hour after birth has significant benefits for mother, newborn and breastfeeding. However, optimal implementation is highly variable. The 2023 International Guidelines on skin-to-skin contact in the first hour after birth place high confidence in the evidence that immediate, continuous, uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact should be routine for all mothers and all babies over 1000 g, regardless of mode of delivery. The PRECESS (Practice Reflection Education and Training Combined with Ethnography for Sustainable Success) methodology provides evidence-based education, process-oriented practice, experiential learning and Interactive Analysis Labs to achieve sustainable best practice. This study aimed to determine if, using PRECESS methodology, the 2023 guideline could be fully implemented and sustained in a regional teaching and referral hospital in Uganda, and whether this resulted in an increase of breastfeeding initiation in the first hour after birth. PRECESS is a prospective cohort study methodology. Baseline data on a convenience sample of 92 dyads was collected, and video recordings made, of each newborn during the first hour after birth. Then, intervention began with an evidence-based lecture for health care workers describing the optimal practice of skin-to-skin contact and first-hour newborn behaviors. Practice experience followed the lecture with all of the health care workers as they came on shift for 105 dyads, who were also video recorded for the first hour. Interactive Analysis Labs allowed key informants to provide reflection on barriers and solutions. Approximately 6 weeks after the initial intervention, 128 dyads were observed and video recorded to determine sustainability of the procedure. Background The growth of biomedical literature presents challenges in extracting and structuring knowledge. Knowledge Graphs (KGs) offer a solution by representing relationships between biomedical entities. However, manual construction of KGs is labor-intensive and time-consuming, highlighting the need for automated methods. This work introduces BioKGrapher, a tool for automatic KG construction using large-scale publication data, with a focus on biomedical concepts related to specific medical conditions. BioKGrapher allows researchers to construct KGs from PubMed IDs.Methods The BioKGrapher pipeline begins with Named Entity Recognition and Linking (NER+NEL) to extract and normalize biomedical concepts from PubMed, mapping them to the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS). Extracted concepts are weighted and re-ranked using Kullback-Leibler divergence and local frequency balancing. These concepts are then integrated into hierarchical KGs, with relationships formed using terminologies like SNOMED CT and NCIt. Downstream applications include multi-label document classification using Adapter-infused Transformer models.Results BioKGrapher effectively aligns generated concepts with clinical practice guidelines from the German Guideline Program in Oncology (GGPO), achieving F1-Scores of up to 0.6. In multi-label classification, Adapter-infused models using a BioKGrapher cancer-specific KG improved micro F1-Scores by up to 0.89 percentage points over a non-specific KG and 2.16 points over base models across three BERT variants. The drug-disease extraction case study identified indications for Nivolumab and Rituximab.Conclusion BioKGrapher is a tool for automatic KG construction, aligning with the GGPO and enhancing downstream task performance. It offers a scalable solution for managing biomedical knowledge, with potential applications in literature recommendation, decision support, and drug repurposing.

Abstract Open-lung ventilation during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in patients undergoing heart transplantation (HTx) is a potential strategy to mitigate postoperative acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). We utilized an ovine HTx model to investigate whether open-lung ventilation during CPB reduces postoperative lung damage and complications. Eighteen sheep from an ovine HTx model were included, with ventilatory interventions randomly assigned during CPB: the OPENVENT group received low tidal volume (VT) of 3 mL/kg and positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) of 8 cm H20, while no ventilation was provided in the NOVENT group as per standard of care. The recipient sheep were monitored for 6 h post-surgery. The primary outcome was histological lung damage, scored at the end of the study. Secondary outcomes included pulmonary shunt, driving pressure, hemodynamics and inflammatory lung infiltration. All animals completed the study. The OPENVENT group showed significantly lower histological lung damage versus the NOVENT group (0.22 vs 0.27, p = 0.042) and lower pulmonary shunt (19.2 vs 32.1%, p = 0.001). In addition, the OPENVENT group exhibited a reduced driving pressure (9.6 cm H2O vs. 12.8 cm H2O, p = 0.039), lower neutrophil (5.25% vs 7.97%, p ≤ 0.001) and macrophage infiltrations (11.1% vs 19.6%, p

Abstract Fibroblast activating protein (FAP) is a cell surface marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts with a distinct pro-tumorigenic role. The present study analyzed the pan-cancer expression; and clinical and mutational profiles of the FAP coding gene. Molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) deciphered the backbone dynamics and energetics of FAP. Virtual screening and subsequent pharmacokinetic-profiling (PK) filtered lead molecules, which were subjected to molecular docking. MDS projected a stable trajectory for the protein, as dynamics evidenced by low residue-level fluctuations, stable backbone dynamics, and energetics. Around five stabilization and deleterious mutations in the catalytic domain were identified. The low binding energy (BE) profiles from molecular docking studies screened the top five lead molecules for site-specific intermolecular interaction studies. Lead-16 (ZINC000245289699) exhibited a significant BE and inhibition constant of −6.87 kcal/mol and 12.27 μM, respectively, across FAP and its mutants. Interestingly, the docked complexes of Lead-16 interacted with the catalytic triad residues (S624, D702, and H734). The docked complexes of Lead-16 with FAP showed lower average root-mean-square fluctuations compared to the unbound protein, suggesting a stable ligand–protein complex. The tumor-specific expression and its critical overall survival suggest the inhibitors of FAP for potential cancer therapeutic intervention and hindering tumor microenvironment-driven cancer progression.

Abstract Humans perceive illusory faces in everyday objects with a face-like configuration, an illusion known as face pareidolia. Face-selective regions in humans and monkeys, believed to underlie face perception, have been shown to respond to face pareidolia images. Here, we investigated whether pareidolia selectivity in macaque inferotemporal cortex is explained by the face-like configuration that drives the human perception of illusory faces. We found that face cells responded selectively to pareidolia images. This selectivity did not correlate with human faceness ratings and did not require the face-like configuration. Instead, it was driven primarily by the “eye” parts of the illusory face, which are simply object parts when viewed in isolation. In contrast, human perceptual pareidolia relied primarily on the global configuration and could not be explained by “eye” parts. Our results indicate that face-cells encode local, generic features of illusory faces, in misalignment with human visual perception, which requires holistic information.

A socio-legal analysis of the UK governance regime for data collected from children at school for teaching and learning contrasts the government-mandated data collection by schools to inform educational policy and planning with data processed and shared with third parties by commercial EdTech providers. We find the former is effectively governed by the government's 'Five Safes Framework' with some problematic exceptions. By contrast, EdTech providers process a growing volume of personal data under the DPA 2018/UK GDPR with a looser enforcement regime. While schools have few mechanisms and insufficient expertise or resources to hold EdTech providers accountable for processing children's data, EdTech providers have considerable latitude in interpreting the law. Consequently, and paradoxically, regulations governing (mostly) deidentified data used for public purposes are more systematically enforced than those governing personal (identifiable) data used for public and commercial purposes. We conclude with recommendations so that education data can serve children's best interests.

Graduate students face obstacles when attempting to pursue public sociology in general, but specifically when they desire to utilize public sociology as both a research and teaching orientation that fully incorporates undergraduate students. Drawing on a two-year public sociology project on student financial security challenges, the author advocates for graduate students interested in public sociology to engage in campus collaborations, where connections between undergraduate students and campus partners are forged based on relevant campus resources easily accessible to graduate students. Based on the specifics of the author's campus collaboration, six tips emerge for graduate students interested in replicating this approach to public sociology early in their careers. Gaining familiarity with conducting public sociology that fully incorporates undergraduate students in graduate school, a model that has been shown to benefit students, community partners, and sociology as a discipline, will prepare graduate student instructors to implement the model when they become faculty.
