- Abstract
▵ ~ 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthase (P5CS) is a key enzyme in plant proline biosynthesis. In recent years, P5CS gene cloning and its expression characteristic and application on stress resistance genetic engineering were studied widely. P5CS gene has been proved to be successfully overexpressed in many plants and could improve plant drought resistance and salt-tolerance. With the rapid development of molecular biology and modern biotechnology, P5CS gene in more plants should be studied to verify its function and role mechanism. The interaction of P5CS gene with other genes and their physiological-chemical mechanism on regulating plant resistant stress should be explored. The role of P5CS gene on growth and development, and organogenesis of plant should be further studied. Further more, transgenic plant varieties with high - efficiency, practical and strong stress resistance should be bred to improve plants resistant to adversity stress in the future.
