Este trabajo ha sido posible gracias a dos proyectos concedidos por la Dirección General de Patrimonio del Gobierno de Canarias: Estudio Integral sobre pasado, presente y futuro de la lucha canaria, 2019 (LRS2019KA00224); y Lucha canaria, sociabilidad y proceso de deportivización (1800-1984). Historia de la lucha canaria desde una perspectiva sociológica, 2020 (193/2020). La lucha canaria (en adelante, lucha) es un deporte tradicional desarrollado y practicado en las Islas Canarias y las zonas de influencia de la diáspora canaria (especialmente Cuba, Argentina, Venezuela y la antigua colonia española del Sahara Occidental). Como deporte de lucha o combate, la masculinidad es representada y visibilizada mediante múltiples elementos, tal y como han señalado algunos autores que han abordado el binomio “deportes de lucha-masculinidad”. También coincidiendo con otros deportes de lucha, desde la década de 1970 se constató la presencia activa de mujeres practicantes y gestoras. Se trataba de una presencia asimétrica, tanto en los distintos países como en las distintas modalidades de práctica. Que testimoniaba tanto las transformaciones experimentadas en el seno del deporte, como la pujanza del papel y la presencia de las mujeres durante el periodo. La lucha también tomó parte en este proceso, mediante la presencia activa e intensa de mujeres de manera reconocida y pública, en el periodo 1972-1984. Este trabajo intenta mostrar y explicar el desenvolvimiento del proceso. Canarian wrestling (lucha) is a traditional sport developed and practised in the Canary Islands and the areas of influence of the Canarian diaspora (especially Cuba, Argentina, Venezuela and the former Spanish colony of Western Sahara). As a wrestling or combat sport, masculinity is represented and made visible through multiple elements, as has been pointed out by some authors who have addressed the “wrestling sports-masculinity” binomial. Also coinciding with other wrestling sports, since the 1970s, the active presence of women practitioners and managers has been noted. It was an asymmetrical presence, both in the different countries and in the different forms of practice. It testified both to the transformations experienced within the sport and to the strength of the role and presence of women during the period. Canarian wrestling (lucha) also took part in this process, through the active and intense presence of women in a recognised and public way, in the period 1972-1984. This work attempts to show and explain the development of the process.

A series of bidentate allene- and enyne-containing ligands have been synthesized and the photochemical properties of their rhenium(I) complexes have been studied. These complexes exhibit facile isomerization of the conjugated double bonds upon ambient light exposure. Simulations unveiled a very efficient intersystem crossing and the consequent key role of the triplet states in the observed photochemistry of these substrates upon rhenium(I) complexation.

Three new spirobifluorene iridaaromatic compounds bearing electron-withdrawing or electron-donor substituents or another iridanaphthalene moiety have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Thorough experimental and theoretical evaluation revealed that these novel systems present a high thermal, air and electrochemical stability as well as low optical and electronic energy gap values with a significant redshift of the absorption maximum in the UV-Vis spectra and predicted remarkably higher first hyperpolarizabilities compared to their organic counterparts. Therefore, the combination of a metallaaromatic system with a spirobifluorene moiety leads to the design and development of new spirobifluorene derivatives. These new systems have shown interesting optical and electronic properties making them of interest for future applications in optoelectronics.

PURPOSE This study aimed to assess the efficacy of the combination of nivolumab (nivo) plus ipilimumab (ipi) as a first-line therapy with respect to the 12-month overall survival (OS) in patients with metastatic uveal melanoma (MUM) who are not eligible for liver resection. METHODS This was a single-arm, phase II trial led by the Spanish Multidisciplinary Melanoma Group (GEM) on nivo plus ipi for systemic treatment-naïve patients of age > 18 years, with histologically confirmed MUM, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group-PS 0/1, and confirmed progressive metastatic disease (M1). Nivo (1 mg/kg once every 3 weeks) and ipi (3 mg/kg once every 3 weeks) were administered during four inductions, followed by nivo (3 mg/kg once every 2 weeks) until progressive disease, toxicity, or withdrawal. The primary end point was 12-month OS. OS, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall response rate were evaluated every 6 weeks using RECIST (v1.1). Safety was also evaluated. Logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard models comprising relevant clinical factors were used to evaluate the potential association with response to treatment and survival. Cytokines were quantified in serum samples for their putative role in immune modulation/angiogenesis and/or earlier evidence of involvement in immunotherapy. RESULTS A total of 52 patients with a median age of 59 years (range, 26-84 years) were enrolled. Overall, 78.8%, 56%, and 32% of patients had liver M1, extra-liver M1, and elevated lactate dehydrogenase. Stable disease was the most common outcome (51.9%). The primary end point was 12-month OS, which was 51.9% (95% CI, 38.3 to 65.5). The median OS and PFS were 12.7 months and 3.0 months, respectively. PFS was influenced by higher LDH values. CONCLUSIONS Nivo plus ipi in the first-line setting for MUM showed a modest improvement in OS over historical benchmarks of chemotherapy, with a manageable toxicity profile.

The last decade has seen a huge growth in the construction of chiral systems to expand the scope of chiroptical applications. Dependence of chiroptical response on molecular conformation typically leads to low chiroptical intensities of chiral systems that feature several conformations in solution. In this respect, allenes were employed for the preparation of open and cyclic oligomers as well as molecular cages, presenting remarkable chiroptical responses in solution. Their molecular chirality was also transferred to metal surfaces, yet photoisomerization of allenes limited their further exploration. In search of a more robust chiral axis, theoretical and experimental studies confirmed that spirobifluorenes could give rise to stable systems with tailored optical and chiroptical properties. Additionally, incorporating a conformational lock into spirobifluorene cyclic architectures served as an efficient strategy towards the generation of distinct helical molecular orbitals. This review article outlines our results on developing device-compatible chiroptical systems through axially chiral allenes and spirobifluorenes. The contribution from other research groups is presented briefly.

Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade de Vigo/CISUG Push-pull organic compounds with π-conjugated backbones are attracting considerable interest in terms of their highly efficient (NLO) non-linear optical effects. In this respect, cyano groups constitute one of the strongest electron acceptors suitable for NLO materials. We herein report the first 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobutadiene (TCBD) spirobifluorene (SBF) through a double [2+2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization. Enantiomeric resolution by HPLC using a chiral stationary phase (CSP) and theoretical calculations unveiled not only the nature of the potential energy surface, but also the absolute configuration of each enantiomer. Since both the presence of strong donor and acceptor, as well as the intrinsic non-centrosymmetric character of chiral compounds are a prerequisite for the development of NLO properties, the first hyperpolarizability of the developed system was theoretically calculated. The results suggested a strong dependence on the conformation and an intensity enhancement for certain conformers of 1 as compared to its allenic TCBD analogue. La violencia es una problemática que afecta a todas las sociedades en su conjunto y hay muchos tipos (de violencia). Este trabajo se centra en la violencia que es ejercida del hombre hacia la mujer, en la que hay o ha habido algún tipo de relación previa, es decir la violencia de género. En este trabajo se hace un análisis lexicométrico de los diferentes programas que recogen el ámbito de la violencia de género de las distintas Comunidades de España. El análisis ha sido realizado a través de un software de acceso libre especializado en el análisis cualitativo. Este software está elaborado por el profesor Pierre Ratinaud en el seno del laboratorio LERASS de la Universidad de Touluse y se conoce como Iramuteq. Se trata de una investigación descriptiva, ya que se identifican y relacionan las palabras para demostrar las conexiones que existen entre ellas. El corpus de texto objeto de estudio está formado por un total de 17 textos. Han sido adaptados al formato “txt”, y posteriormente codificado con un formato UTF-8 para ser interpretado por dicho software. Los resultados obtenidos han sido un número de palabras de 82.991 (nº de ocurrencias), de las que 3.395 aparecen una sola vez (nº de hápax). Las palabras “violencia”, “mujer” y “programa” son las que aparecen con mayor frecuencia en los análisis de los textos y presentan una gran co-ocurrencia entre ellas. Para concluir, el objetivo principal de este análisis fue conocer el estado de estudio y desarrollo de los programas de violencia de género en el Estado español. Violence is a problem that affects all societies as a whole and there are many types of violence. This work focuses on the violence that is exercised by men towards women, in which there is or has been some type of previous relationship, that is, gender violence In this paper, a lexicometric analysis is made of the different programs that cover the field of gender violence in different Spanish Communities. The analysis has been carried out through open access software specialized in qualitative analysis. This software was created by Professor Pierre Ratinaud within the LERASS laboratory of the University of Touluse and is known as Iramuteq. It is a descriptive investigation, since words are identified and related to demonstrate the connections that exist between them. The corpus of text under study is made up of a total of 17 texts, they have been converted to a “txt” format, and later encoded with a UTF-8 format to be interpreted by said software. The results obtained were a total of 82,991 words of 82,991 (number of occurrences), of which 3,395 appeared only once (number of hapax). The words "violence", "woman" and "program" are those that appear most frequently in the analysis of the texts and present a great co-occurrence between them. To conclude, the main objective of this analysis was to know the state of study and development of gender violence programs in the Spanish state.

Chiroptical responses have been an essential tool over the last decades for chemical structural elucidation due to their exceptional sensitivity to geometry and intermolecular interactions. In recent times, there has been an increasing interest for the search of more efficient sensing by the rational design of tailored chiroptical systems. In this Review article, advances on chiroptical systems towards their implementation in sensing applications are summarized. Strategies to generate chiroptical responses are illustrated. Theoretical approaches to assist in the design of these systems are discussed. Development of efficient chiroptical reporters in different states of matter, essential for the implementation in sensing devises, is reviewed. In the last part, remarkable examples of chiroptical sensing applications are highlighted.

En el presente trabajo se muestran los resultados de la investigación realizada por un grupo multidisciplinario de especialistas a un territorio, con vistas a evaluar su posible uso con fines turísticos. Al efectuarse la misma ya el territorio contaba con el ordenamiento, pues se había ejecutado un estudio de impacto ambiental, el cual planteaba, entre otros aspectos, que se aceptaba la ejecución de las obras propuestas en el proyecto. El problema radicaba en que, al tratarse de una zona ambientalmente muy frágil, se precisaba además de un estudio de riesgo ambiental. Los métodos de investigación empleados se corresponden con lo aprobado en el país para tales fines, tanto por el Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente como por los Órganos de la Defensa Civil Nacional, instituciones que exigen su estricto cumplimiento, y al concluirse la investigación fue evaluada y aprobada por especialistas de estos organismos. Se empleó un Sistema de Información Geográfica. Los resultados obtenidos fueron relevantes por cuanto, al realizarse el estudio de riesgo ambiental, se demostró que el proyecto no se debía ejecutar en dicha zona al encontrarse la misma muy afectada por el cambio climático, específicamente por los aspectos relacionados con la elevación del nivel medio del mar y las inundaciones locales, debidas al incremento de las lluvias intensas en un área que hasta el momento de ejecutarse el estudio se había visto agobiada por un largo período de sequía extrema. Quedaron además plenamente confirmadas las afectaciones que el cambio climático está ocasionando a esta región.

El objetivo de este artículo es el de mostrar las contradicciones, tensiones y conflictos latentes en relación con los deportes étnicos, las políticas públicas y la promoción del turismo deportivo en las Islas Canarias. El artículo, basado en etnografía y en información cualitativa, muestra cómo determinados deportes étnicos se llevan a cabo en un contexto turístico maduro como es el del archipiélago canario, y para ello hemos desarrollado un estudio de caso encuadrado de manera principal en la isla de Fuerteventura. Si bien las políticas públicas apoyan estas prácticas deportivas atendiendo a su fundamento identitario y cultural, dicho apoyo resulta difuso cuando se habla específicamente de política turística, donde la atención al deporte pasa hoy en día muy principalmente por el turismo activo. Asimismo, los actores participantes presentan posicionamientos diferentes en torno a la potencial presencia de estos deportes étnicos en el ámbito turístico, lo que permite ver con mayor significación las tensiones resultantes.Abstract. The aim of this article is to show the different contradictions, tensions, and latent conflicts related to ethnic sports, public policies, and promotion of sports tourism in the Canary Islands. This article, based on ethnography and qualitative information, shows the development of certain ethnic sports in a tourist context. A case study was carried out in the island of Fuerteventura, where tensions and latent conflicts exist despite public policies actually supporting these sports practices –underlining their identity and cultural basis-. Such support is very frequently diffuse in terms of tourism policy, where attention to sport is mainly driven by active tourism. Likewise, those having a role in the tourism field assume different positions regarding the potential presence of these ethnic sports in it, a fact that makes the resulting tensions more evdient.

Este trabajo se suscribe al paradigma critico reflexivo de la investigación educativa; y tiene como objetivo: identificar las carencias y fortalezas de la implementación de la asignatura Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación en Ecuador, analizarlas en su contexto y plantear alternativas de éxito. Participan setecientas personas entre estudiantes de primaria, secundaria y universidad, padres y madres de familia, y docentes en actual ejercicio profesional, quienes fueron seleccionados al azar de 45 centros escolares públicos y privados localizados en la provincia de Manabí, Ecuador. Se aplica el Cuestionario Análisis de la Satisfacción en Educación Física, y el Modelo de Competencias Docentes de Marchesi. Entre los hallazgos se revelan niveles insuficientes en la satisfacción de las expectativas de estudiantes, padres y madres de familia respeto a las prácticas deportivas ejecutadas en los centros escolares participantes. Además, la autoevaluación de competencias docentes reveló una tendencia hacia el nivel bajo en la mayoría de las categorías estudiadas; resultados que coinciden con las observaciones de clase ejecutadas. Los resultados permiten inferir que para superar las actuales limitaciones se debe trabajar respecto al mejor conocimiento de la política pública respecto a educación, la motivación a la enseñanza, y la innovación curricular. Se concluye que la asignatura Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación impartida en los centros de educación básica y secundaria de Ecuador; puede ser positivamente transformada mediante el fortalecimiento de las competencias de los docentes y potenciada por medio de la participación comprometida de padres y madres de familia.Abstract. This work belongs to the reflexive critical paradigm of educational research, and aims to identify the shortcomings and strengths of the implementation of the subject Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation in Ecuador; analyze them based on their context; and propose successful alternatives. Participants were seven hundred students from primary and secondary education and university, as well as parents and teachers in current professional practice, who were randomly selected from 45 public and private schools located in the province of Manabí, Ecuador. The Satisfaction Analysis Questionnaire in Physical Education was applied, together with the Teacher Competencies Model of Marchesi. Among the main findings, insufficient levels of satisfaction of students’ and parents’ expectations are shown in regard to sports practice carried out at the participating schools. In addition, the self-evaluation of teaching competencies revealed a tendency toward the low levels in most of the categories studied; results that are confirmed by data from the observation of classes. These results allow us to infer that we should work on improving the knowledge of public administration regarding education, motivation to teaching, and curricular innovation, so to overcome the current limitations. Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation subject taught in the Ecuadorian education centers can be positively transformed by strengthening teachers’ competences, as well as it can be enhanced through a more committed participation of students’ parents.

An effort is made herein to demonstrate advanced terrain motion products obtained via operational SAR interferometric services running on the Geohazards Exploitation Platform to support the World Bank's City Resilience Program. The objective is to highlight the validity of medium resolution terrain motion products for the provision of systematic terrain motion analysis to operational teams, allowing for the prompt identification of potential hazardous phenomena over wide areas. The challenge is to inform the City Resilience Program and its connected operational teams about urban hazards in a rapid manner in order to capably guide their investment plans in resilience. Such services, combined with tailored capacity building activities, pave the way for the use of a platform-based InSAR solution directly by EO practitioners and end-users for the purpose of monitoring cities according to various concerns. The introduction of online tools expands and scales the skills of technical staff of local authorities and relevant agencies while increasing their acceptance of Earth Observation and its solutions.

The Earth Observation is proven to be extremely useful in the management of the aftermaths of tsunami and earthquakes. ESA-Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is a project within the Earth Observation for Sustainable Development (EO4SD) program aiming to demonstrate on large scale in developing countries the usefulness of Earth Observation to reduce disaster risks and to support the management of the post-event rehabilitation and reconstructions. Among the activities of the project, the ESA-DRR team, following the dramatic event of the Sulawesi earthquake (28 September 2018) supported the Indonesian authorities, through the cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Palu area. The provided EO services are presented.

Este trabajo se centra en presentar el uso del texto literario en el aula de inglés basándonos en sus beneficios y posibilidades en el aula. Nos centraremos principalmente en la utilización de tres géneros literarios como recursos didácticos en la enseñanza del inglés en las aulas de Educación Primaria. Justificando su importancia, las ventajas que puede proporcionar en el alumnado y las formas de trabajarlo en el aula. Para apoyar la fundamentación teórica se ha diseñado un proyecto que abarca los tres géneros literarios y una serie de tareas para distintos niveles de la etapa educativa que nos ocupa. Algunas de ellas se han llevado a cabo a través de las TIC, herramienta adecuada para aumentar la motivación del alumnado en su desarrollo. Dichas tareas han sido llevadas a la práctica lo cual ha dado lugar a reflexiones sobre la adecuación del objeto de estudio., This work focuses on the presentation of the use of literary text in the English classroom based on its benefits and possibilities in the classroom. We will focus mainly on the use of three literary genres as didactic resources in the teaching of English in Primary Education classrooms. Justifying its importance, the advantages it can provide for students and the ways of working on it in the classroom. To support the theoretical foundation, a project has been designed that covers the three literary genres and a series of tasks for different levels of the educational stage in question. Some of them have been carried out through ICT, a suitable tool to increase the motivation of students in their development. [Resumen] Introducción: El pie plano flexible es una patología frecuente en niños y adolescentes que se caracteriza por la depresión del arco longitudinal interno del pie, valgo de retropié y abducción del antepié. El tratamiento resulta controvertido, sin embargo, los autores concuerdan que el pie plano debe ser sometido a intervención quirúrgica solo en casos de presencia de sintomatología; dolor incapacitante que no responde a tratamiento conservador. Objetivo: Conocer y comparar las diferentes técnicas quirúgicas existentes en el pie plano flexible infanto- juvenil y determinar su eficacia. Metodología: Se realiza una búsqueda sistemática en las bases de datos de ciencias de la salud Pubmed y Cochrane durante los meses de febrero a marzo de 2021. Los principales límites usados fueron: articulos publicados desde el 2011 hasta la actualidad, escritos en inglés, que fuesen ensayos clínicos y tratamiento conservador ineficaz. Resultados: Se obtienen un total de 37 artículos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 25 por mantener algún tipo de relación con la temática principal. Finalmente, tras revisar las publicaciones en profundidad y ver si se ajustan los criterios, se obtienen 8 artículos que describen principalmente dos tipos de técnicas: artrorrisis subastragalina y osteotomías. Conclusiones: Todas las técnicas quirúrgicas son eficaces para el tratamiento del pie plano flexible, siendo la artrorrisis subastragalina la técnica más empleada, menos invasiva, con un alivio de síntomas precoz y carga temprana [Resumo] Introdución: O pé plano flexible é unha patoloxia frecuente en nenos e adolescentes que se caracteriza pola depresión do arco lonxitudinal interno do pé, valgo de retropé e abducción do antepé. The treatment is controversial, however, the authors agree that flatfoot should be subjected to surgical interventions only in cases where symptoms are present; disabling pain that doesn`t respond to conservative treatment. Objective: Know and compare the different existing surgical techniques in infantile-juvenile flexible flatfoot and determine their effectiveness. Methodology: A systematic search was carried out in the Pubmed and Cochrane health sciences databases during the months of February to March 2021. The main limits used were: articles published from 2011 to present, written in English, that were essays clinical and conservative treatment ineffective. Results: A total of 37 articles were obtained, of wich 25 were selected for maintaining some kind of relationship with the main theme. Finally, after reviewing the publications in depth and seeing if the criteria are adjusted, 8 articles were obtained that mainly describe to types of techniques: subatalar arthrorrisis and osteotomies. Conclusions: All surgical techniques are effective for the treatment of flexible flatfoot, subtalar arthrorrisis being the most widely used, least invasive technique, with early symptom relief and early loading Traballo fin de grao (UDC.FEP). Several theoretical studies have proposed strategies to reach helical molecular orbitals (Hel-MOs) in [n]cumulenes. While chiral even-[n] cumulenes feature Hel-MOs, odd-[n] cumulenes may also present them if the terminal groups lie on different planes. However, the hitherto proposed systems have been either experimentally unfeasible or resulted in opposite pseudo-degenerated Hel-MOs, impeding their use in real applicatons. To overcome this challenge, we hereby demonstrate the introduction of a remarkable energy difference between helical orbitals of opposite twist by fixing the torsion angle between the terminal groups in butadiyne fragments. In order to experimentally lock the conformation of the terminal groups, we designed cyclic architectures by combining acetylenes with chiral spirobifluorenes. A straightforward synthetic strategy along with the high stability allowed the isolation and full characterization of systems presenting distinct helical orbitals. Finally, a thorough computational analysis revealed that the most significant optical responses of these systems originate mainly from the exciton coupling between the featured diphenylbutadiyne fragments. This novel strategy opens now access to the development of systems with distinct helical molecular orbitals suitable for their implementation into chiroptical and optoelectronic applications.

Recent reports have illustrated the promising potential of chiral metal nanostructures, which exploit the characteristic localized surface plasmon resonance of metal colloids, to produce intense optical activity. In this article we review the concepts, synthetic methods, and theoretical predictions underlying the chirality of metal colloids with a particular emphasis on the size range of 10–100 nanometers. The formation of individual colloidal nanoparticles with a chiral morphology and a plasmonic response remains elusive; however, collective chirality and the associated optical activity in nanoparticle assemblies is a promising alternative that has seen a few recent experimental demonstrations. We conclude with a perspective on chiral nanostructures built up from achiral anisotropic metal particles.

Chiroptical methods have been proven to be superior compared to their achiral counterparts for the structural elucidation of many compounds. To expand the use of chiroptical systems to everyday applications, the development of functional materials exhibiting intense chiroptical responses is essential. Particularly, tailored and robust interfaces compatible with standard device operation conditions are required. Herein, we present the design and synthesis of chiral allenes and their use for the functionalization of gold surfaces. The self-assembly results in a monolayer-thin room-temperature-stable upstanding chiral architecture as ascertained by ellipsometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure. Moreover, these nanostructures anchored to device-compatible substrates feature intense chiroptical second harmonic generation. Both straightforward preparation of the device-compatible interfaces along with their chiroptical nature provide major prospects for everyday applications.
