Abstract

The tower foundation is an important component of the tower grounding device. The conditions in permafrost areas are relatively harsh, and damage to the foundation can affect the grounding performance of the grounding device. However, the damage characteristics of permafrost to the tower foundation in permafrost areas are not yet clear, and effective protection of the foundation cannot be achieved. Based on this, this article constructs a simulated frozen soil experimental platform through experiments, replacing the tower foundation with concrete specimens. The electrical and mechanical properties after freeze-thaw were measured using the quadrupole method and resonance method, respectively. The self performance of the tower foundation under different moisture content freeze-thaw conditions was studied, and the performance change law of the tower foundation after freeze-thaw was obtained to explore the damage of frozen soil to the tower foundation in frozen soil areas. It can be considered that the frozen soil in permafrost areas does not cause significant damage to the tower foundation itself in a limited number of years.

15. Accurate Measurement of Tower Grounding Resistance for Single-Tower and Multi-Tower Parallel Scenarios Based on the Clamp Meter Method: For the Sustainable Operation of Towers.

Abstract

Transmission tower grounding safety is a critical element that significantly impacts the reliability and sustainability of power grids. Tower grounding resistance is a significant grounding characteristic parameter. In order to accurately measure the grounding resistance of towers using the clamp meter method in both single-tower and multi-tower parallel scenarios, this paper establishes theoretical calculation models for measuring tower grounding resistance using the clamp meter method. Considering the interaction between the artificial grounding device and the tower foundation, this paper models and simulates transmission towers and lightning shield wires, analyzing the influencing factors on the grounding resistance measurement results using the clamp meter method in both single- and multi-tower parallel scenarios. The results show that for single towers, the clamp meter measurement results increase with decreasing foundation root spacing and increasing length of the artificial device's extension lines, but the changes are relatively small. In multi-tower grounding scenarios, due to the shunting effect of the parallel branches formed by the towers and lightning shield wires, the value is smaller than in single-tower grounding scenarios. Changing the number of parallel towers and the type of lightning shield wire produces little effect on the measurement results. However, changes in soil resistivity have the most significant impact. Therefore, correction formulas for the impact of soil resistivity on clamp meter measurements are proposed and then verified by applying them to field tests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) is a saponin compound, isolated from licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), which has been wildly explored for its intriguing pharmacological and medicinal effects. GA is a triterpenoid glycoside displaying an array of pharmacological and biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiviral and antioxidative properties. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanisms of GA on acne vulgaris through network pharmacology and proteomics. After the intersection of the 154 drug targets and 581 disease targets, 37 therapeutic targets for GA against acne were obtained. A protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analysis highlighted TNF, IL1B, IL6, ESR1, PPARG, NFKB1, STAT3 and TLR4 as key targets of GA against acne, which is further verified by molecular docking. The experimental results showed that GA inhibited lipid synthesis in vitro and in vivo, improved the histopathological damage of skin, prevented mast cell infiltration and decreased the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6. This study indicates that GA may regulate multiple pathways to improve acne symptoms, and the beneficial effects of GA against acne vulgaris might be through the regulation of sebogenesis and inflammatory responses. 25. Research on the Lightning-Struck Tower Localization and Fault Identification Based on Residual Magnetism Detection

Abstract

At present, the precise location of fault tower struck by lightning still relies on manual line inspection, the search process is time-consuming and laborious. This paper proposes a lightning-strike fault tower localization criterion based on detection of residual magnetism on the tower. This paper firstly calculates the tower shunt coefficient of lightning current under different lightning striking faults. After a transmission tower is struck by lightning, residual magnetism is generated in the tower. An experiment platform is designed to study the residual magnetism characteristics of the fault and adjacent towers in the cases of both back flashover and shielding failure flashover at 110 kV, 220 kV and 500 kV voltage level. The specific values of residual magnetism under different conditions are obtained, and it is found that the residual magnetism of the fault tower is far larger than that of the adjacent towers. Besides, the effect of power frequency follow current during the flashover is also taken into account. Based on the experimental results, the residual magnetism law is summarized, and the criterion of lightning-struck tower localization and fault identification based on residual magnetism detection is proposed. Finally a field test was conducted which verified the validity of the method proposed.

30. Method for Calculating the Galvanic Corrosion Rate of Copper-Steel Connected Ground Grids

Abstract

During the reconstruction or expansion of power plants and substations, copper and steel ground grids are often connected, and the resulting galvanic corrosion shortens the service life of steel ground grids. However, no method is yet available for calculating the galvanic corrosion rate of the entire ground grid. On the basis of electrochemical theory, method of moments, and Taylor's formula, a method is proposed for calculating the galvanic corrosion rate of connected ground grids composed of dissimilar metals, and the effectiveness of this method is verified through galvanic corrosion experiments and FEM. For an actual project in which copper and steel ground grids are connected, the galvanic corrosion rate distribution of ground grids is calculated and analysed. According to the results, galvanic corrosion can significantly reduce the service life of ground grids, and in this engineering case, the remaining service life of the steel ground grid is reduced from 17.4 to 9.7 years (a decrease of 44.3%). The galvanic corrosion rates at the edges and corners of steel ground grid are considerably higher than those in its interior, and the galvanic corrosion rate of the steel ground electrodes is highest near the copper ground grid.

31. Analysis of Field of View for Passive Interferometric Microwave Sensor in Target Detection

Abstract

Researches have demonstrated that passive interferometric microwave sensors (PIMSs) can be used in the imagery acquired and target detections, especially in low visibility and/or high sea clutter environments. Target detection by PIMSs is based on the high contrast against the background in the brightness temperature (TB) maps, and it is found that the targets still exhibit a high contrast within the alias field of view (FOV) of the background cancellation TB maps obtained by a background canceling method in the target detection algorithm. As a result, the targets can also be detected within the alias FOV of PIMSs, and PIMSs exhibit a wider FOV for target detection than that for Earth’s remote sensing. However, the effective FOV of PIMSs has never been studied for target detection before. In this article, the effective FOV of PIMSs is first studied for target detection. The effective FOV of PIMSs is analyzed and discussed for target detection in theory, which is based on the FOV of PIMSs for Earth’s remote sensing and the background canceling method. Numerical simulations are performed to analyze the effective FOV of PIMSs in terms of the metallic with a “cold” TB characteristic and the island with a “hot” TB characteristic. A series of experiments have been performed to verify the effective FOV of the PIMSs for target detection in ships, islands, and aircrafts. Both numerical and experimental results have demonstrated that the effective FOV of the PIMSs for target detection based on the background canceling method can be extended to the central hexagonal regions ( ${H}$ ), and it exhibits a wider FOV than alias-free FOV (AF-FOV) and/or extended AF-FOV (EAF-FOV) in Earth’s remote sensing, as expected.
