This article studies the problem of real‐time path planning for unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in complex environments. Although this problem has received increasing research attention recently, it is still unsolved to a large extent due to the complexity of obstacles and their high dynamics. In particular, the existing path planning approaches are only able to solve the simplest scenarios. The main contribution of this article is to propose a new dynamic artificial potential field to represent the influence of obstacles on the danger degree of the surrounding environment, which is an important step towards the uniform and appropriate description of dynamic and static obstacles in real‐time path planning. At the same time, based on state constraints of USV, the obstacle avoidance strategy consistent with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs, short for Collision Regulations) is set up, and the optimal path is solved by genetic algorithm. Trait-based approaches are of increasing concern in predicting vegetation changes and linking ecosystem structures to functions at large scales. However, a critical challenge for such approaches is acquiring spatially continuous plant functional trait maps. Here, six key plant functional traits were selected as they can reflect plant resource acquisition strategies and ecosystem functions, including specific leaf area (SLA), leaf dry matter content (LDMC), leaf N concentration (LNC), leaf P concentration (LPC), leaf area (LA) and wood density (WD). A total of 34 589 in situ trait measurements of 3447 seed plant species were collected from 1430 sampling sites in China and were used to generate spatial plant functional trait maps (∼1 km), together with environmental variables and vegetation indices based on two machine learning models (random forest and boosted regression trees). To obtain the optimal estimates, a weighted average algorithm was further applied to merge the predictions of the two models to derive the final spatial plant functional trait maps. The models showed good accuracy in estimating WD, LPC and SLA, with average R2 values ranging from 0.48 to 0.68. In contrast, both the models had weak performance in estimating LDMC, with average R2 values less than 0.30. Meanwhile, LA showed considerable differences between the two models in some regions. Climatic effects were more important than those of edaphic factors in predicting the spatial distributions of plant functional traits. Estimates of plant functional traits in northeastern China and the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau had relatively high uncertainties due to sparse samplings, implying a need for more observations in these regions in the future. Our spatial trait maps could provide critical support for trait-based vegetation models and allow exploration of the relationships between vegetation characteristics and ecosystem functions at large scales. Care-giving to older adults with disabilities could lead to relatively high levels of care-giving burden and low levels of life satisfaction among their family care-givers. However, there is a lack of research examining the role of care-giver wisdom in the above stress process model. This study examined the moderator role of wisdom in the relationship between care-giver burden and life satisfaction among family care-givers of disabled older adults in urban China. A multi-stage quota sampling method was used to recruit 789 disabled older adult–family care-giver dyads in Shanghai in 2013. The average age of older adults and their family care-givers was 84 and 63 years old, respectively. Multiple-group path analysis was conducted to examine the proposed hypotheses. The results showed that care-giver wisdom played a moderator role in the association between care-giver burden and life satisfaction. Care-giver burden was found to only negatively affect life satisfaction among care-givers with relatively low wisdom levels. The findings highlight the influences of care-giver wisdom on the relationship between burden and life satisfaction in Chinese contexts. The concept of wisdom should be used in needs assessment among family care-givers of older adults with disabilities. Rational design and fabrication of catalysts with excellent efficiency, high selectivity and outstanding stability is of great significance for the practical application of formic acid dehydrogenation into hydrogen gas. Herein, Pd catalysts with a narrow size distribution around 2.2 nm are deposited on the porous chitosan microspheres, which are produced by the polycondensation with Schiff base linkage. The Pd–N bond configuration is formed upon the abundant amino-group on the chitosan backbone with the surface anchoring Pd nanocluster. The surface charge is redistributed to generate high-valence Pdδ+ species due to the ligand-to-metal charge transfer between Pd and N, thus greatly improving the catalytic performance of formic acid dehydrogenation at room temperature and maintaining outstanding stability during 15 consecutive reaction cycles. Early detection of prostate cancer (PCa) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is crucial for maintaining the health and well-being of aging male populations. This study aims to evaluate the performance of transfer learning with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for efficient classification of PCa and BPH in transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images. A retrospective experimental design was employed in this study, with 1380 TRUS images for PCa and 1530 for BPH. Seven state-of-the-art deep learning (DL) methods were employed as classifiers with transfer learning applied to popular CNN architectures. Performance indices, including sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), Kappa value, and Hindex (Youden's index), were used to assess the feasibility and efficacy of the CNN methods. The CNN methods with transfer learning demonstrated a high classification performance for TRUS images, with all accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, PPV, NPV, Kappa, and Hindex values surpassing 0.9400. The optimal accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity reached 0.9987, 0.9980, and 0.9980, respectively, as evaluated using twofold cross-validation. The investigated CNN methods with transfer learning showcased their efficiency and ability for the classification of PCa and BPH in TRUS images. Notably, the EfficientNetV2 with transfer learning displayed a high degree of effectiveness in distinguishing between PCa and BPH, making it a promising tool for future diagnostic applications. Convolutional deep learning models have shown comparable performance to radiologists in detecting and classifying thoracic diseases. However, research on rib fractures remains limited compared to other thoracic abnormalities. Moreover, existing deep learning models primarily focus on using frontal chest X‐ray (CXR) images. To address these gaps, the authors utilised the EDARib‐CXR dataset, comprising 369 frontal and 829 oblique CXRs. These X‐rays were annotated by experienced radiologists, specifically identifying the presence of rib fractures using bounding‐box‐level annotations. The authors introduce two detection models, AB‐YOLOv5 and PB‐YOLOv5, and train and evaluate them on the EDARib‐CXR dataset. AB‐YOLOv5 is a modified YOLOv5 network that incorporates an auxiliary branch to enhance the resolution of feature maps in the final convolutional network layer. On the other hand, PB‐YOLOv5 maintains the same structure as the original YOLOv5 but employs image patches during training to preserve features of small objects in downsampled images. Furthermore, the authors propose a novel two‐level cascaded architecture that integrates both AB‐YOLOv5 and PB‐YOLOv5 detection models. This structure demonstrates improved metrics on the test set, achieving an AP30 score of 0.785. Political ideology and political trust are key factors that affect people's political expression. With the development of the internet, social media is at the forefront of China's mainstream ideological dissemination, and social media users are becoming the dominant force in various online public opinion and political expression venues. This study examines whether Chinese netizens' trust in the government and their political ideology impact the relationship between their social media news consumption and their online political expression. By analyzing data from the 2018 Netizens' Social Consciousness in China Survey (N = 5,415), we found that social media news consumption is positively associated with people's online political expression, and Chinese netizens' trust in government mediates this relationship. Additionally, netizens' political ideology moderates the relationship between social media news consumption and online political expression. Objectives: The present study examined the moderating effects of family social capital on the relationship between community social capital and loneliness among older adults in urban Chinese communities during the COVID-19 outbreak period between January and March 2020.Method: We used quota sampling to recruit 472 community-dwelling older adults aged 60 years or older. A multiple-group analysis was applied to examine the proposed hypotheses.Results: Community-based cognitive social capital was significantly associated with both social and emotional loneliness among older adults with relatively low levels of family social capital. However, these associations were statistically nonsignificant among those with high family social capital levels. Community-based structural social capital was not associated with loneliness in either family social capital group.Conclusion: The findings highlight the role of cognitive social capital in reducing loneliness and support community social capital replacement theory in explaining the mechanism linking social capital to loneliness in later life in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigated the trajectory patterns of activities of daily living (ADLs) and cognitive function among older urban Chinese adults with disabilities and their influence on their family caregivers' (i.e., spouse and adult children) positive caregiving experiences. Data were derived from the three-wave longitudinal panel study titled "Longitudinal Study on Family Caregivers for Frail Older Adults Aged 75 or Above in Shanghai." A total of 251 older adults and their spouse/adult child caregivers participated in the 2010, 2013, and 2016 waves and were included in the final analytic sample. Growth curve modeling was applied to examine the proposed model. The findings suggest that ADLs and cognitive function trajectories declined over six years. Changes were predicted based on the older adults' age and education levels. In 2016, the change rate of cognitive function trajectory was associated with self-affirmation and life enrichment. Neither the initial status (intercept) nor the change rates (slope) of the ADLs' trajectory were associated with the two dimensions of positive caregiving experiences. This study extended the stress process model by demonstrating the trajectory patterns of stressors and their influence on positive caregiving experiences. Change rates in older adults' cognitive function were key risk factors for positive caregiving experiences. This finding has important implications for family-based care systems in China. Blood tests are considered as standard clinical procedures to screen for markers of diseases and health conditions. However, the complex cellular background (>99.9% RBCs) and biomolecular composition often pose significant technical challenges for accurate blood analysis. An emerging approach for point-of-care blood diagnostics is utilizing "label-free" microfluidic technologies that rely on intrinsic cell properties for blood fractionation and disease detection without any antibody binding. A growing body of clinical evidence has also reported that cellular dysfunction and their biophysical phenotypes are complementary to standard hematoanalyzer analysis (complete blood count) and can provide a more comprehensive health profiling. In this review, we will summarize recent advances in microfluidic label-free separation of different blood cell components including circulating tumor cells, leukocytes, platelets and nanoscale extracellular vesicles. Label-free single cell analysis of intrinsic cell morphology, spectrochemical properties, dielectric parameters and biophysical characteristics as novel blood-based biomarkers will also be presented. Next, we will highlight research efforts that combine label-free microfluidics with machine learning approaches to enhance detection sensitivity and specificity in clinical studies, as well as innovative microfluidic solutions which are capable of fully integrated and label-free blood cell sorting and analysis. Lastly, we will envisage the current challenges and future outlook of label-free microfluidics platforms for high throughput multi-dimensional blood cell analysis to identify non-traditional circulating biomarkers for clinical diagnostics. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of various fluence levels on prophylactic corneal cross‐linking (CXL) combined with femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis (FS‐LASIK‐Xtra) or transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (TransPRK‐Xtra) on biomechanics, demarcation line (DL), and stromal haze. Methods: Prospective analysis where two prophylactic CXL protocols (lower/higher fluence [LF/HF]: 30 mw/cm2, 60/80 s, 1.8/2.4 J/cm2) were performed as part of either an FS‐LASIK‐Xtra or TransPRK‐Xtra procedure. Data were collected preoperatively and at 1 week and 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively. Main outcome measures were (1) dynamic corneal response parameters and the stress–strain index (SSI) from Corvis, (2) actual DL depth (ADL), and (3) stromal haze on OCT images analysed by a machine learning algorithm. Results: Eighty‐six eyes from 86 patients underwent FS‐LASIK‐Xtra‐HF (21 eyes), FS‐LASIK‐Xtra‐LF (21 eyes), TransPRK‐Xtra‐HF (23 eyes), and TransPRK‐Xtra‐LF (21 eyes). SSI increased similarly by around 15% in all groups 6 months postoperatively (p = 0.155). All other corneal biomechanical parameters were statistically significant worsening postoperatively, but the change was similar in all groups. At 1 month postoperatively, there was no statistical difference in mean ADL among four groups (p = 0.613), mean stromal haze was similar between the two FS‐LASIK‐Xtra groups, but higher in the TransPRK‐Xtra‐HF group compared with the TransPRK‐Xtra‐LF group. Conclusions: FS‐LASIK‐Xtra and TransPRK‐Xtra lead to a similar ADL and improve SSI equally. Lower fluence prophylactic CXL might be recommended as it achieves similar mean ADL with potentially less induced stromal haze, especially in TransPRK. Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) are more likely to have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) than non-PCOS women; however, the exact mechanism underlying this trend is unknown. The receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) is strongly involved in bone metabolism and has multiple functions. Recent studies suggest that RANKL is implicated in hepatic insulin resistance (IR), which is the highest risk factor for NAFLD. This study aimed to assess the role of RANKL in NAFLD in Chinese women with PCOS. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on women newly diagnosed with PCOS, which included 146 patients with NAFLD and 142 patients without NAFLD. Sex hormones, glucose, insulin, and lipids were measured, and anthropometric data were collected. The concentration of serum total RANKL was measured using commercial ELISA kits. PCOS patients with NAFLD had a significantly higher mean age, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and worsened metabolic profile than non-NAFLD subjects. The concentrations of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol increased with the RANKL tertile (p for trend = 0.023, 0.026, and 0.035, respectively). A significantly positive association was found between RANKL (per SD change) and the risks of NAFLD (OR = 1.545, 95% CI = 1.086–2.199) after adjusting for confounders, including demographic factors, metabolic markers, and sex hormones. Subgroup multivariate logistic analyses stratified by age, BMI, and WC showed the same tendency. In addition, the positive association between RANKL and NAFLD seemed more prominent in lean patients with a BMI < 24 kg/m2 (OR = 1.70, 95% CI = 1.06–2.75) when compared to overweight/obesity subjects. Therefore, this study suggests that RANKL is positively associated with the increased risk of NAFLD in Chinese women with PCOS, independent of metabolic and reproductive factors. In this paper we study the estimation of the mixing proportions and component density functions for a nonparametric multivariate mixture model that satisfies the condition of identifiability. We propose a new estimation method which combines the advantages of the matrix simultaneous diagonalization method and the basis method. The consistency of the estimator is proved and its convergence rate is derived. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The method is also applied to the US communities and crime data set. Background: Fatty acids increase ATP‐binding cassette ABC transporter A12 (ABCA12) levels via an increase in peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor β/δ (PPAR β/δ). Promoting lipid transport to lamellar granules has been suggested to improve epidermal barrier function in patients with dry skin. Objective: We investigated whether mevalonolactone (MVL) produced by Saccharomycopsis fibuligera improves dry skin by promoting ABCA12 expression and the amount of free fatty acids in epidermal keratinocytes. Methods: We examined whether MVL increases ABCA12 mRNA and protein levels and the amount of Nile red‐positive lipids in cultured epidermal keratinocytes and in a three‐dimensional epidermal model by cell staining. Promotion of fatty acid production by MVL was analyzed by liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry. We also evaluated whether MVL addition increases PPAR β/δ mRNA expression in cultured keratinocytes. Based on the results, a randomized controlled trial was conducted in which milky lotions containing MVL and placebo were applied to dry facial skin of healthy female volunteers in winter. Results: MVL increased ABCA12 mRNA and protein levels and lamellar granule number and size. Fatty acid analysis revealed that MVL elevated myristic acid, palmitic acid, and palmitoleic acid levels as well as PPAR β/δ mRNA expression. In human tests, milky lotions containing MVL were shown to significantly improve transepidermal water loss (TEWL) in the stratum corneum compared to placebo. Conclusion: The results suggest that MVL increases fatty acid uptake and ABCA12, promotes fatty acid transport to lamellar granules, and improves epidermal barrier function in dry skin through increased expression of PPAR β/δ. This study aimed to examine whether older adults' financial status moderated the association between neighbourhood environment (i.e. physical and social environment) and loneliness among older adults in urban China. A cross‐sectional survey was collected from urban communities of Shanghai in mid‐2020. The final analytic sample was 459 older adults (age range = 60–91 years; proportion of women: 55.8%). Multiple group analysis was applied to test the hypothesised model. A measurement model of community social capital (i.e. cognitive and structural dimensions of social capital), a crucial indicator of neighbourhood social environment, was first established in both high‐income and low‐income groups. Factor loading invariance was established in these two groups. The results show that structural social capital (i.e. organisation memberships, volunteering, social participation and citizenship activities) was negatively associated with loneliness among older respondents from the high‐income group only, whereas better community security was significantly associated with lower levels of loneliness among low‐income older respondents only. The findings imply that both structural social capital and household income should be considered as important indicators in needs assessment among lonely older adults. Future social policies and interventions should pay attention to enhancing the role of both social and physical neighbourhood environment among older adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We aimed to evaluate the depth of the demarcation line following accelerated epithelium-off corneal cross-linking (A-CXL) performed at the slit lamp with the patient sitting in an upright position. Twenty-three eyes from twenty patients, undergoing epi-off A-CXL (9 mW/cm2 for 10 min) using a CXL device at the slit lamp in the upright position. Demarcation line depth was assessed at 1 month after the procedure using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) and specialized software. Surgery was uneventful in all cases. The average postoperative demarcation line depth achieved was 189.4 µm (standard deviation: 58.67 µm). The demarcation line depth achieved with patients sitting upright, receiving CXL at the slit lamp, is similar to published data on CXL performed in the supine position, suggesting that demarcation line depth is not dependent on patient orientation during CXL. Background & Aims: The multiplicity of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence patterns is the most important determinant of patients' postsurgical survival. A systematic HCC recurrence classification is needed to help prevent and treat postoperative HCC recurrence in the era of precision medicine. Methods: A total of 1319 patients with recurrent HCC from four hospitals were enrolled and divided into a development cohort (n = 916), internal validation cohort (n = 225) and external validation cohort (n = 178). A comprehensive study of patients' clinicopathological factors and biological features was conducted. Results: Four subtypes of recurrence were identified, which integrated recurrence features, survival, effects on systemic and liver function and potential therapeutics after recurrence: type I (solitary‐intrahepatic oligorecurrence); type II (multi‐intrahepatic oligorecurrence); type III (progression recurrence) and type IV (hyper‐progression recurrence). Type III~IV recurrence indicated exceptionally poor prognosis. Subsequently, two nomogram models were established for type III~IV recurrence prediction, and both demonstrated excellent predictive performance and applicability of pre and postoperative strategy formulation. Multiple biological analyses revealed that HCC cases with type III~IV recurrence were characterized by enrichment in p53 mutations, CCND1 amplification, high proliferation/metastasis potential, inactive metabolism and immune exhaustion features. Over‐expression of high mobility group protein 2 (HMGA2) enhanced the highly malignant behaviour of HCC through multiple molecular pathways, making it a potential prognostic predictor and therapeutic target. Conclusions: This 'recurrent HCC classification' has important potential value in identifying patients with surgical benefit, predicting postsurgical survival and guiding treatment strategies. Most Corvis corneal biomechanics parameters display excellent repeatability in myopic and post-LVC corneas, but care is required when interpreting SSI in post-LVC corneas. Purpose: To assess the repeatability of several corneal biomechanical parameters with a Scheimpflug tonometer (Corvis ST) in myopic eyes and eyes that underwent transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (transPRK), small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), or femtosecond laser–assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) surgery. Setting: Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China. Design: Prospective randomized controlled study. Methods: 315 eyes from 315 patients (135 myopes, 58 post-transPRK, 52 post-SMILE, and 70 post–FS-LASIK) were included. 3 consecutive scans were performed to evaluate the repeatability of the 40 parameters examined. Results: 315 eyes were included. In all eyes, the coefficient of variation (CoV) for intraocular pressure (IOP) and biomechanical-corrected IOP (bIOP) ranged from 7.29% to 9.47% and 6.11% to 7.75%, respectively; the CoV of pachymetry was <0.8%. The intraclass correlation coefficient of Corvis Biomechanical Index-Laser Vision Correction (LVC) was 0.680 for post-transPRK, 0.978 for post-SMILE, and 0.911 for post–FS-LASIK. The CoV of Stress–Strain Index (SSI) was 204.93% for post-transPRK, 91.92% for post-SMILE, and 171.72% for post–FS-LASIK. The CoV of the 6 clinically important dynamic corneal response parameters ranged from 2.0% to 7.8% for myopia, 1.8% to 11.1% for post-transPRK, 2.1% to 8.7% for post-SMILE, and 1.8% to 8.8% for post–FS-LASIK. Conclusions: Excellent intrameasurement repeatability of IOP, bIOP, and pachymetry was observed in all groups; SSI measurement in post-LVC corneas displayed more variation. Caution is warranted when assessing SSI in post-LVC corneas for the purpose of diagnosing iatrogenic ectasia or evaluating biomechanical remodeling of postoperative refractive corneas. BACKGROUND: Dividing liver organs or lesions depicting on computed tomography (CT) images could be applied to help tumor staging and treatment. However, most existing image segmentation technologies use manual or semi-automatic analysis, making the analysis process costly and time-consuming. OBJECTIVE: This research aims to develop and apply a deep learning network architecture to segment liver tumors automatically after fine tuning parameters. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The medical imaging is obtained from the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), which includes 3D abdominal CT scans of 131 patients diagnosed with liver tumors. From these CT scans, there are 7,190 2D CT images along with the labeled binary images. The labeled binary images are regarded as gold standard for evaluation of the segmented results by FCN (Fully Convolutional Network). The backbones of FCN are extracted from Xception, InceptionresNetv2, MobileNetv2, ResNet18, ResNet50 in this study. Meanwhile, the parameters including optimizers (SGDM and ADAM), size of epoch, and size of batch are investigated. CT images are randomly divided into training and testing sets using a ratio of 9:1. Several evaluation indices including Global Accuracy, Mean Accuracy, Mean IoU (Intersection over Union), Weighted IoU and Mean BF Score are applied to evaluate tumor segmentation results in the testing images. RESULTS: The Global Accuracy, Mean Accuracy, Mean IoU, Weighted IoU, and Mean BF Scores are 0.999, 0.969, 0.954, 0.998, 0.962 using ResNet50 in FCN with optimizer SGDM, batch size 12, and epoch 9. It is important to fine tuning the parameters in FCN model. Top 20 FNC models enable to achieve higher tumor segmentation accuracy with Mean IoU over 0.900. The occurred frequency of InceptionresNetv2, MobileNetv2, ResNet18, ResNet50, and Xception are 9, 6, 3, 5, and 2 times. Therefore, the InceptionresNetv2 has higher performance than others. CONCLUSIONS: This study develop and test an automated liver tumor segmentation model based on FCN. Study results demonstrate that many deep learning models including InceptionresNetv2, MobileNetv2, ResNet18, ResNet50, and Xception have high potential to segment liver tumors from CT images with accuracy exceeding 90%. An increasing number of studies have focused on the relationship between neighbourhood environment and depressive symptoms among older people. However, the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. This study examined the association between neighbourhood environment and depressive symptoms among older urban Chinese adults and the mediator role of social capital in this association. Using a quota sampling approach, 472 respondents aged 60 years or older were recruited from 23 urban communities of Shanghai, China, in 2020. Depressive symptoms were measured with the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. Social capital was measured by two latent constructs: cognitive social capital (e.g., trust, reciprocity, belongingness) and structural social capital (e.g., memberships, social participation). Perceived physical neighbourhood environment was assessed in terms of health care, security, and public transportation status. Structural equation modelling was conducted to test the study hypotheses. Health care services in the community had a direct effect on depressive symptoms (β = −0.097, p <.05). Cognitive social capital played a mediator role in the relationship between physical neighbourhood environment and depressive symptoms (community health care: β = −0.124, p <.01; community security: β = −0.284, p <.01). The mediator effect of structural social capital in the relationship between physical neighbourhood environment and depressive symptoms was not significant. The findings highlight the role of physical neighbourhood environment in fostering community‐based social capital and promoting mental health among older adults in urban China. Three T-shaped concrete walls built with HRB 600 MPa reinforcement were tested under cyclic loading, and research parameters included axial load ratio and lateral loading direction. As part of the study, the method to obtain the yield strength and deformation was proposed. Test results show that compared to the specimen loaded along the web length direction, the wall loaded at 45° direction has smaller strength, initial stiffness, energy dissipation, and larger drift ratio capacity. The present study investigated the moderator role of multidimensional wisdom (i.e. individuals' positive personality traits) on the association between caregiver burden and depressive symptoms among family caregivers of disabled older adults in China. A quota sampling was used to recruit 789 pairs of disabled older adults and their primary family caregivers in Shanghai, China, in 2013. Multiple-group path analysis was used to test the proposed model. Cognitive, reflective, and affective wisdom were found to moderate the association between burden and depressive symptoms. The association was statistically significant among those with relatively low levels of cognitive, reflective, and affective wisdom. These associations, however, were found to be statistically nonsignificant among those with relatively high levels of cognitive, reflective, and affective wisdom. The findings highlight the important role of multidimensional wisdom in the underlying mechanisms of family caregiving from the perspective of the stress process model. Brain dysfunction resulting from damage to the heart-brain link leads to a decline in cognitive function. This, in turn, gives rise to the clinical symptom of perioperative delirium in patients undergoing coronary artery revascularization. Those affected are provided symptomatic treatment, but many do not recover fully. Thus, medium- and long-term mortality and adverse event rates remain relatively high in patients with perioperative delirium. Despite the relatively high incidence of perioperative delirium in patients undergoing coronary artery revascularization, it has not been systematically investigated. Inflammation, vascular damage, neuronal damage, and embolism are all involved in the injury process. Here, we discuss the incidence rate, pathological mechanisms, and prognosis of delirium after coronary artery revascularization. We also discuss in detail the risk factors for delirium after coronary artery revascularization, such as anxiety, depression, mode of operation, and drug use. We report an efficient process to dehydrogenate formaldehyde in alkaline solution, catalyzed by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via a unique reaction mechanism involving molecular O 2. The superior catalytic performance of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) compared to the other carbon-based catalysts is attributed to their sp2-carbon-rich surface, hydrophilicity and abundant surface defects, which are the most plausible active sites. Peroxide species originating from the activation of adsorbed molecular oxygen on the CNTs is found to be a key to C–H activation, leading to efficient hydrogen production. The cost-effective carbon-based dehydrogenation catalysts offer new opportunities to the development of novel liquid organic hydrogen carrier technologies. Anthocyanins and proanthocyanins (PAs) are two end products of the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway. They are believed to be synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum and then sequestered into the vacuole. In Arabidopsis thaliana , TRANSPARENT TESTA 19 (TT19) is necessary for both anthocyanin and PA accumulation. Here, we found that MtGSTF7, a homolog of AtTT19, is essential for anthocyanin accumulation but not required for PA accumulation in Medicago truncatula. MtGSTF7 was induced by the anthocyanin regulator LEGUME ANTHOCYANIN PRODUCTION 1 (LAP1), and its tissue expression pattern correlated with anthocyanin deposition in M. truncatula. Tnt1 -insertional mutants of MtGSTF7 lost anthocyanin accumulation in vegetative organs, and introducing a genomic fragment of MtGSTF7 could complement the mutant phenotypes. Additionally, the accumulation of anthocyanins induced by LAP1 was significantly reduced in mtgstf7 mutants. Yeast-one-hybridization and dual-luciferase reporter assays revealed that LAP1 could bind to the MtGSTF7 promoter to activate its expression. Ectopic expression of MtGSTF7 in tt19 mutants could rescue their anthocyanin deficiency, but not their PA defect. Furthermore, PA accumulation was not affected in the mtgstf7 mutants. Taken together, our results show that the mechanism of anthocyanin and PA accumulation in M. truncatula is different from that in A. thaliana, and provide a new target gene for engineering anthocyanins in plants. Growth in height (GH) is a critical determinant for tree survival and development in forests and can be depicted using logistic growth curves. Our understanding of the genetic mechanism underlying dynamic GH, however, is limited, particularly under field conditions. We applied two mapping models (Funmap and FVTmap) to find quantitative trait loci responsible for dynamic GH and two epistatic models (2HiGWAS and 1HiGWAS) to detect epistasis in Catalpa bungei grown in the field. We identified 13 co-located quantitative trait loci influencing the growth curve by Funmap and three heterochronic parameters (the timing of the inflection point, maximum acceleration and maximum deceleration) by FVTmap. The combined use of FVTmap and Funmap reduced the number of candidate genes by >70%. We detected 76 significant epistatic interactions, amongst which a key gene, COMT 14, co-located by three models (but not 1HiGWAS) interacted with three other genes, implying that a novel network of protein interaction centered on COMT 14 may control the dynamic GH of C. bungei. These findings provide new insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying the dynamic growth in tree height in natural environments and emphasize the necessity of incorporating multiple dynamic models for screening more reliable candidate genes. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) has been classified separately as an independent risk factor for hypertension. However, comparisons between different body size indices and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in hypertensive populations have not been reported yet. In this study, we enrolled 4,639 hypertensive patients from rural China. Anthropometric indices and cardiovascular disease risk factor variables were measured and analyzed using Spearman's correlation, logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. Patients in the highest quartile of body size indices were more likely to have left ventricular hypertrophy than those in the lowest quartile; these indices were BMI (adjusted OR: 3.55, 95% CI: 2.90; 4.35), WC (adjusted OR: 2.23, 95% CI: 1.84; 2.70), WHR (adjusted OR: 1.44, 95% CI: 1.18; 1.75), and WHtR (adjusted OR: 3.23, 95% CI: 2.62; 3.99). The areas under the ROC curves of BMI (AUC: 0.628, 95% CI: 0.612; 0.644), WHtR (AUC: 0.628, 95% CI: 0.560; 0.593), WHR (AUC: 0.530, 95% CI: 0.513; 0.547), and WC (AUC: 0.576, 95% CI: 0.513; 0.547) were all above 0.5, which indicated that the four anthropometric indicators may be associated with LVH. This study examined the mediator role of social capital on the association between perceived neighborhood environment and life satisfaction among older adults in urban China, and further tested the moderating effect of gender in the above paths (i.e., from neighborhood environment to life satisfaction; from neighborhood environment to social capital; from social capital to life satisfaction). We used quota sampling approach to recruit 472 respondents aged 60 years old or older in Shanghai in 2020. From the perspective of structural equation modeling, multiple group analysis was conducted to examine the proposed hypotheses. The measurement model of social capital was well established in urban Chinese community contexts. Based on the whole sample, the results of the mediation model showed that social capital played a mediation role in the association between neighborhood environment and life satisfaction. Furthermore, the results of multiple group analysis showed that the association between neighborhood environment and cognitive social capital was only significant among older women. The mechanism for DMAP-promoted [4 + 2]-annulation of prop-2-ynylsulfonium with isatoic anhydride is investigated using the M06-2X functional. The reaction comprises isomerization of prop-2-ynylsulfonium in stage 1. Stage 2 includes DMAP-promoted deprotonation, nucleophilic addition, ring opening, and decarboxylation. Three steps of intramolecular cycloaddition, DMAP-promoted protonation, and dealkylation occur in stage 3, generating methylated DMAP and neutral thioether, which undergo double-bond isomerization to yield 3-methylthio-4-quinolone. The ability of DMAP to promote the reaction lies in the barrier decrease for alkyne isomerization, deprotonation/protonation of allenes, and dealkylation as effective bases for transferring protons and methyl groups. The roles of prop-2-ynylsulfonium and isatoic anhydride were demonstrated to be C2 and C4 synthons via Multiwfn analysis on the frontier molecular orbital. The preparation of MgO-stabilized ZrO 2 powders was based on combustion synthesis between Mg powders and CO 2 with ZrO 2 powders as the diluent. The effects of the diluent content on the combustion process parameters, phase composition, microstructure, and high-temperature stability were systemically investigated. As the diluent content increased, the reaction temperature, propagation velocity, and MgO content decreased. The reactant powders underwent different reaction processes and were transformed into different phase compositions due to the change in diluent content. [Display omitted] Compressibility of zinc-manganese oxide (Zn-MnO 2) batteries is an essential element of modern flexible electronics. Hydrogel electrolytes with superior elasticity and compressibility are highly demand to guarantee a stable energy output of the flexible Zn-MnO 2 battery. Herein, a highly compressible hydrogel electrolyte was developed by introducing soybean protein isolate nanoparticles (SPI) into covalently cross-linked polyacrylamide (PAAM) polymer networks. The SPI/PAAM hydrogel electrolyte for Zn-MnO 2 battery possessed outstanding reversible compressibility due to the aggregation of SPI nanoparticles on the PAAM chains through the weak electrostatic interaction, which could dissipate energy effectively. Consequently, the Zn-MnO 2 battery based on the compressible hydrogel electrolyte displayed a decent specific capacity (299.3 mA h g−1) and desirable capacity retention rate (78.2%) after 500 charge/discharge cycles. Notably, the device could maintain stable power output under 96% compress strain and light the bulb even under severe mechanical stimulation like being-bent and hammered. Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have arisen as a promising class of biotherapeutics for targeted cancer treatment, combining the specificity of monoclonal antibodies with the cytotoxicity of small-molecule drugs. The choice of an appropriate payload is crucial for the success development of ADCs, as it determines the therapeutic efficacy and safety profile. This review focuses on payloads derived from natural products, including cytotoxic agents, DNA-damaging agents, and immunomodulators. These offer several advantages such as diverse chemical structures, unique mechanism of actions, and potential for improved therapeutic index. Challenges and opportunities associated with their development were highlighted. This review underscores the significance of natural product payloads in the elaboration of ADCs, which serves as a valuable resource for researchers involved in developing and optimizing next-generation ADCs for cancer treatment. Bisphenols (BPs) are a series of widely used endocrine disruptors, which potentially harm the environment and human health. In this work, a novel Z-scheme TiO 2 -BiVO 4 -PI heterostructure was synthesized, characterized, and used for the simulated sunlight-driven photoelectrocatalytic degradation of BPs. Due to the existence of surface-surface contacted direct Z-scheme between BiVO 4 and PI, holes were concentrated on the valence band of BiVO 4 and electrons were concentrated on the conduction band of PI, resulting in a stronger redox activity. All six BPs exhibited appreciable degradation following the order of bisphenol A (BPA, 93.5%) > bisphenol B (BPB, 92.7%) > bisphenol AP (BPAP, 85.6%) > bisphenol F (BPF, 75.9%) > bisphenol AF (BPAF, 69.8%) > bisphenol S (BPS, 39.2%), within 120 min under the optimal condition. In the process of degradation, superoxide radicals (·O 2 −) and hydroxyl radicals (·OH) played dominant roles, and the intermediates of BPs degradation were mainly formed via the substituent shedding or C–C bond breaking of phenol ring, hydroxylation, and ring opening of phenol ring. The ECOSAR program was used to analyze the changes in the toxicity of the intermediates, and it was proved that the toxicity showed a decrease trend during the degradation process. This study provides a Z-scheme mechanism for TiO 2 -BiVO 4 -PI, which can degrade BPs and reduce their toxicity effectively. Plant functional traits shape many ecosystem processes, including carbon sequestration in vegetation and soil. The shifts of trait-based indices can reflect changes in plant resource-use strategies during successional processes. The aim of this study was to determine how plant functional diversity affects carbon sequestration during secondary succession in semi-arid grassland, and how the limiting environmental factor (that is, soil water) affects these processes. We investigated 16 plots at three sites with different stand ages and climate conditions in the semi-arid area of the Loess Plateau, China. We measured the key plant functional traits: plant height; leaf dry matter content (LDMC); specific leaf area (SLA); leaf carbon (LC), nitrogen (LN), and phosphorus contents (LP); and ecosystem carbon components: aboveground biomass (AGB); root biomass (RB); and soil organic carbon stock (SOC). The community weighted mean (CWM) of LDMC increased and SLA and LN decreased with stand age at a wetter site, indicating that plants' resource-use strategy might shift from acquisition to conservation during succession. The exception of the shifting of CWM_SLA deviated from the general trend during succession can be attributed to the appearance of slow-growing species in the early successional stage at a drier site. The structural equation models (SEM) showed that stand age, soil water content (SWC) and functional diversity indices accounted for 55.7%, 53.2%, and 56.5% of variations in AGB, RB, and SOC during succession, respectively. The interplays of stand age and SWC were regulated by functional diversity indices, especially the CWMs of plant height and SLA, functional variance (FDvar) of plant height and functional evenness (FEve). Carbon stocks accumulated faster at wetter sites. Our results indicate that the mass ratio and niche complementary hypotheses are not contradictory in explaining relationships between community functional diversity and ecosystem carbon stocks during the restoration of semi-arid grasslands, and that SWC affects the progress of succession and carbon sequestration. This study investigated the moderating role of income in the relationship between community social capital and cognitive function among community‐dwelling older adults in rural China. Data were derived from a community survey conducted in Dongliao county, Jilin province, China, in 2019. Trained interviewers completed face‐to‐face interviews with 458 respondents. Multiple group analysis was applied to examine the proposed model. The latent constructs of cognitive social capital and structural social capital were established in low‐income and high‐income groups in rural Chinese contexts. Factor loading invariance of social capital constructs was established across the two income groups. The results showed that income has moderating effects on the relationship between social capital constructs and cognitive function. Social capital that was significantly associated with cognitive function was statistically significant in low‐income group only. The findings highlight the important role of income in understanding the mechanism linking social capital to cognitive function in a rural Chinese context. Allylic amines are valuable and functional building blocks. Direct N‐allylation of pyrazole and its derivatives as an atom economic strategy to provide allylic amines has been achieved only using commercial Bu4NHSO4 as the metal‐free catalyst and water as the solvent without any additives. 11–93% isolated yields were obtained for the N‐allylation of pyrazole and its derivatives with allylic alcohols. Bu4NHSO4 could be reused for six times by simple extraction nearly without loss of catalytic activity and was also suitable for a gram‐scale production. The reaction of allylic ether and pyrazole did not occur to give the desired product indicated that allylic ether was not the active intermediate in the pathway. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that there are hydrogen bonding effects among substrates, solvent and catalyst, especially the one formed between allylic alcohol and H2O. This study examined the association between childhood conditions and arthritis among middle-aged and older adults in China. The data were derived from the 2015 wave and the life-history module of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with respondents age 45 and over across China. Multiple imputation was used to handle the missing data, generating a final analytic sample of 19,800. Doctor-diagnosed arthritis was the main outcome variable. Random-effects logistic regression models were used to test the proposed models. Approximately 8 per cent of the respondents had better family financial status in childhood than their neighbours. Close to 8 per cent had been hospitalised or encountered similar conditions (e.g. confined to bed or home) for at least one month in childhood. Around one-third reported better subjective health in childhood than their peers. The majority of the respondents (80%) reported that they had stable health resources, and that their mothers were illiterate during their childhood. Childhood family financial status, subjective health, mother's education, access to health care and medical catastrophic events were found to be significant factors associated with arthritis in later life, after controlling for adulthood and older-age conditions (family financial status: odds ratio (OR) = 0.885, 95 per cent confidence interval (95% CI) = 0.848–0.924; subjective health: OR = 0.924, 95% CI = 0.889–0.960; mother's education: OR = 0.863, 95% CI = 0.750–0.992; access to health care: OR = 0.729, 95% CI = 0.552–0.964; medical catastrophic events: OR = 1.266, 95% CI = 1.108–1.446). The study results highlight an important role that childhood conditions play in affecting the onset of arthritis in late life in China. Health-care providers may consider childhood conditions as a valuable screening criterion to identify risk populations, which could be used to guide health promotion and prevention programmes, and promote healthy ageing. Aim: Root traits play important roles in plant growth and ecosystem processes. Clarifying the primary drivers of variation in root traits is indispensable for understanding and predicting ecosystem responses to environmental changes. Location: China. Taxon: Seed plant species. Methods: We compiled six key first‐order root traits of 437 seed plant species from different biomes, phylogenetic affiliations, plant growth forms and mycorrhizal types in China. The six root traits included root diameter (RD), root tissue density (RTD), specific root length (SRL), root C content (RCC), root N content (RNC) and root C:N ratio (RCN), which are highly relevant for plant growth rate and resource acquisition. The phylogenetic linear mixed model was employed to examine the effects of climate and soil variables on root traits and to quantify the relative contributions of environment, phylogeny, plant growth form and mycorrhizal type to root trait variation. Results: Environment explained most of the variations in RTD and RCC (37.4% and 24.2%, respectively). Mean precipitation of the wettest quarter and mean diurnal temperature range were the main climate drivers of RTD and RCC, respectively. Phylogeny contributed the most to the variation in RD, RNC and RCN (27.0%–52.3%). SRL showed strong links to both environment and phylogeny (35.0% and 27.8%, respectively). However, plant growth form and mycorrhizal type had little effect on root trait variation (<6.0%). Main conclusions: Our study revealed the primary drivers of variations in different root traits of seed plants in China. Climate variability and seasonality variables were more important factors driving root trait variation than the annual averages of temperature and precipitation. Incorporating the different responses of root traits to changing environments and phylogenetic affiliations observed in the present study into terrestrial ecosystem models will improve our ability to predict future vegetation distribution and ecosystem functions under global change. Non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE) on microfluidic chips is still a comparatively little explored area, despite the inherent advantages of this technique and its application potential for, in particular, lipophilic compounds. A main reason is probably the fact that implementation of NACE on microchips largely precluded the use of polymeric substrate materials. Here, we report non-aqueous electrophoresis on a thiol-ene-based microfluidic chip coupled to mass spectrometry via an on-chip ESI interface. Microchips with an integrated ESI emitter were fabricated using a double-molding approach. The durability of thiol-ene, when exposed to different organic solvents, was investigated with respect to swelling and decomposition of the polymer. Thiol-ene exhibited good stability against organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, N-methylformamide, and formamide, which allows for a wide range of background electrolyte compositions. The integrated ESI emitter provided a stable spray with RSD% of the ESI signal ≤8%. Separation efficiency of the developed microchip electrophoresis system in different non-aqueous buffer solutions was tested with a mixture of several drugs of abuse. Ethanol- and methanol-based buffers provided comparable high theoretical plate numbers (≈ 6.6 × 104–1.6 × 105 m−1) with ethanol exhibiting the best separation efficiency. Direct coupling of non-aqueous electrophoresis to mass spectrometry allowed for fast analysis of hydrophobic compounds in the range of 0.1–5 μg mL−1 and 0.2–10 μg mL−1 and very good sensitivities (LOD ≈ 0.06–0.28 μg mL−1; LOQ ≈ 0.20–0.90 μg mL−1). The novel combination of non-aqueous CE on a microfluidic thiol-ene device and ESI-MS provides a mass-producible and highly versatile system for the analysis of, in particular, lipophilic compounds in a wide range of organic solvents. Summary: Proanthocyanidins (PAs), also known as condensed tannins, are plant natural products that are beneficial for human and livestock health. As one of the largest grown crops in the world, soybean (Glycine max) is widely used as human food and animal feed. Many cultivated soybeans with yellow seed coats lack PAs or anthocyanins, although some soybean cultivars have coloured seed coats that contain these compounds. Here, we analyse the transcriptional control of PA and anthocyanin biosynthesis in soybean. Ectopic expression of the transcription factors (TFs) GmTT2A, GmTT2B, GmMYB5A or R in soybean hairy roots induced the accumulation of PAs (primarily in phloem tissues) or anthocyanins and led to up‐regulation of 1775, 856, 1411 and 1766 genes, respectively, several of which encode enzymes involved in PA biosynthesis. The genes regulated by GmTT2A and GmTT2B partially overlapped, suggesting conserved but potentially divergent roles for these two TFs in regulating PA accumulation in soybean. The two key enzymes anthocyanidin reductase and leucoanthocyanidin reductase were differentially upregulated, by GmTT2A/GmTT2B and GmMYB5A, respectively. Transgenic soybean plants overexpressing GmTT2B or MtLAP1 (a proven up‐regulator of the upstream reactions for production of precursors for PA biosynthesis in legumes) showed increased accumulation of PAs and anthocyanins, respectively, associated with transcriptional reprogramming paralleling the RNA‐seq data collected in soybean hairy roots. Collectively, our results show that engineered PA biosynthesis in soybean exhibits qualitative and spatial differences from the better‐studied model systems Arabidopsis thaliana and Medicago truncatula, and suggest targets for engineering PAs in soybean plants. Lu2(1–x)Y2xSiO5 (LYSO) crystals readout by a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) will be used in the barrel timing layer of a precision timing detector for the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). This detector is expected to be exposed up to 5-Mrad γ-ray dose, 2.5 × 1013 charged hadrons/cm2, and 3 × 1014 neq/cm2 at the HL-LHC for 10 years of operation. We present results of the photocurrent in LYSO+SiPM packages induced by Co-60 γ-rays and Cf-252 neutrons of the expected dose rate and neutron flux, respectively. The γ-ray-induced readout noise is about 30 keV, which is negligible when compared to the 4.2-MeV signal from the minimum ionization particle signals. The neutron-induced readout noise is about 7 keV, which is more than a factor of 4 smaller than that from the γ-rays. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of dual locking plate osteosynthesis for treating 3- or 4-part proximal humeral fractures combined with multiple fractures of the greater tuberosity. Methods: From January 2012 to December 2018, 19 skeletally mature patients, who suffered 3- or 4-part proximal humeral fractures combined with multiple fractures of the greater tuberosity, were treated with open reduction and internal fixation using a dual locking plate technique through a delto-pectoral approach. Indexes for evaluation included fracture healing, quality of reduction, and incidence of complications (infections, screw perforation into the glenohumeral joint, subacromial impingement, hardware failure, avascular necrosis, and loss of reduction). Shoulder function was evaluated using Constant–Murley scoring. Results: The patients were assessed at a mean time of 25.3 months after surgery. Union of fractures was radiographically confirmed for all 19 patients. The mean Constant–Murley patient score was 85.2 points, and complications were identified in two patients during follow-up evaluations. Conclusions: The method of using dual locking plate osteosynthesis through a delto-pectoral approach resulted in a satisfactory union rate, excellent fracture reduction, low complication rate and good shoulder function for patients with complex proximal humeral fractures. Objective Previous longitudinal studies have found that cognitive function affected oral health, and vice versa. However, research is lacking on the reciprocal relationships between cognitive function and edentulism simultaneously, especially in developing countries. The present study aimed to examine the reciprocal relationship between cognitive function and edentulism among middle-aged and older adults in China. Methods Data were derived from the 2011 and 2015 waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. The sample included 14,038 respondents aged 45 or older. A two-wave cross-lagged analysis was adopted to test the hypothesized model. Results Among respondents aged 45–59, baseline cognitive function was associated with subsequent edentulism [ b  = −0.017, standard deviation (SD) = 0.006, P  < 0.01]. In contrast, baseline edentulism was not significantly associated with poorer cognitive function at the follow-up wave (b  = −0.744, SD = 0.383, P  > 0.05). However, among respondents aged 60 or older, baseline cognitive function was associated with subsequent edentulism (b  = −0.017, SD = 0.005, P  < 0.01), and baseline edentulism was also associated with follow-up lower levels of cognitive function (b  = −0.419, SD = 0.143, P  < 0.01). Conclusions These findings demonstrated the reciprocal relationships of cognitive function and edentulism. However, such relationships varied across age groups. The mechanism is investigated for organocatalytic asymmetric Povarov reaction of anilines and aldehydes using M06‐2X functional. Two molecule of aldehyde condense with aniline and catalyst giving N‐arylimine and enamine. The reaction is stepwise involving [2 + 2] cycloaddition and ring‐opening/cyclization. Four competitive paths exist in step 1 leading to isomers of quaternary nitrogen heterocycle as cycloadduct. Step 2 is sequential with proton transfer and concerted ring‐opening/cyclization in two feasible orders. Each path in step 1 divides into two in step 2 producing isomers of tetrahydroquinoline (THQ) bonded with catalyst as cyclization product. The reactive nucleophilic adduct with two charge centers in step 1 supports the recovery of catalyst and generation of aldehyde assisted by water. THQ alcohol is obtained in the following intramolecular Friedel–Crafts reaction. The enantio‐ and diastereoselectivity are both thermodynamic control with preferred path yielding the most stable isomer with 2S3S or 1R2S3S configuration. The path bias is in line with the reduction degree of energy barrier in solvent compared with gas phase. Objectives: The present study examined the moderating effects of functional health on the association between family social capital and life satisfaction among older adults who live alone in urban China. Method: Data for this study were derived from a study "Survey on older adults aged 70 and above who live alone in urban China," which was carried out in five Chinese cities between November 2013 and May 2015. 2801 respondents passed the screening test of cognitive capacities and successfully completed the survey. Family social capital was operationalized as family interaction, number of children, and family relationship. Random-effects logistic regression was conducted to test the proposed hypotheses. Results: The moderating effects of functional health on the association between family interaction and life satisfaction were identified. While family interaction was positively associated with life satisfaction among older adults without disabilities who live alone, family interaction was negatively associated with life satisfaction among those with disabilities. Furthermore, the association between number of children and life satisfaction was nonsignificant among older adults without disabilities, when family relationship was controlled. However, number of children was positively associated with life satisfaction among those with disabilities. Finally, the results showed family relationship were important protective factors of life satisfaction among older adults living alone, regardless of their functional health levels. Conclusion: Theoretical aspects on how family social capital, living alone, and functional health are interwoven and influence mental health in later life were deliberated. The growing application domain of energy storage devices (ESDs) is leading research to temperature tolerant supercapacitors. To realize reliable and safe devices, high modulus solid electrolytes are favored by most researchers. However, the inferior infiltrating ability of such electrolytes usually results in poor electrochemical performances of the ESDs. Herein, we adopted a hierarchical optimization strategy to address the aforementioned interfacial issues. Continuous ionic percolation throughout the hierarchical pores of the 3D electrode was formed by in-situ introducing an ionogel buffer layer. Benefiting from this, the rate of ions diffusing within electrodes was increased by 5 times. Furthermore, the kinetics of ions entering into nanopores was improved via introducing small size ions into ionic liquids (ILs) and adjusting the solvated structures. Both the capacity and rate performance of the electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) were improved. Additionally, the buffer layer exhibited sufficient thermostability to cooperate with poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)-based solid electrolyte. Consequently, the EDLCs exhibited excellent cycling stability (79% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles) at 120 °C and delivered a maximum energy density of 46.9 Wh kg−1 with a power density of 926.9 W kg−1. A controllable, general, and simple alkaline etching strategy was used to synthesize deformable hollow mesoporous organosilica nanocapsules (DMONs), in which multiple organic moieties were homogeneously incorporated into the framework. Deformable materials have garnered widespread attention in biomedical applications. Herein, a controllable, general, and simple alkaline etching strategy was used to synthesize deformable hollow mesoporous organosilica nanocapsules (DMONs), in which multiple organic moieties were homogeneously incorporated into the framework. DMONs with double-, triple-, and even quadruple-hybridized frameworks were prepared by the selective introduction of organosilica precursors in accordance with the chemical homology principle through a surfactant-directed sol–gel procedure and a subsequent etching process in alkaline solution. The triple-hybridized DMONs possessed uniform and controllable diameters (100–330 nm), and large hollow cavities (50–270 nm). Liquid cell electron microscopy images demonstrated that the DMONs were deformable in solution. Elemental mapping images suggested that the organic components were homogeneous distribution within the entire DMONs framework. Statistical analysis of cell proliferation assays showed that breast cancer MCF-7 viability exceeded 85% when the cells are incubated with the triple-hybridized DMONs (800 μg mL−1) for 24 h. Histological assessments of main organs indicated no tissue injury or necrosis after intravenous injection of the DMONs 7 days (5 mg kg−1 body weight). Quantitative analysis indicated that the cellular uptake of the DMONs was 6-fold higher than that of their hard counterparts when the number of nanoparticles added was 1.25 × 104, and similar results were found for 4 T1 cells. Furthermore, doxorubicin (DOX) loaded triple-hybridized DMONs with a loading efficiency of 16.9 wt%, produced a strong killing effect on tumor cells.
