POINTS of zero charge ,FLY ash ,X-ray diffraction ,SODALITE ,INFRARED spectroscopy ,COPPER-zinc alloys - Abstract
In this work, we report the synthesis of magnetic zeolite A using fly ash as the main sources of SiO₂ and Al₂O₃, by hydrothermal use in the adsorption of Pb
2 , Cd2 , Zn2 ⁺ and Cu2 . The composite synthesis was successful, and the obtained material was characterised by using different techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Infrared vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR), Electron Microscopy (SEM), and pH point of zero charge (pHpzc). XRD measurements confirm zeolites A as the main crystalline phases (98.5%), with the presence of a small amount of sodalite (1.5%). In the SEM of magnetic composite, the characteristic morphology for zeolite A was noted, with magnetite nanoparticles dispersed on its surface, resulting in a composite with magnetic properties. In the adsorption study, the magnetic composite showed a fast rate of adsorption, in which the pseudo second order model was the one that best described the experimental data of the metal ions under study. The Redlich-Peterson isotherm model best represented the experimental data of Pb2 ⁺ and Cd2 ⁺, while the Langmuir and Sips models fitted Zn2 ⁺ and Cu2 ⁺, respectively. Thus, the results showed that the magnetic composite presented high magnetic quality, facilitating its separation from the aqueous medium, as well as being a promising adsorbent in the adsorption of metal ions in aqueous medium. Tsetse flies are the sole vectors of human African trypanosomiasis throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Both sexes of adult tsetse feed exclusively on blood and contribute to disease transmission. Notable differences between tsetse and other disease vectors include obligate microbial symbioses, viviparous reproduction, and lactation. Here, we describe the sequence and annotation of the 366-megabase Glossina morsitans morsitans genome. Analysis of the genome and the 12,308 predicted protein-encoding genes led to multiple discoveries, including chromosomal integrations of bacterial (Wolbachia) genome sequences, a family of lactation-specific proteins, reduced complement of host pathogen recognition proteins, and reduced olfaction/chemosensory associated genes. These genome data provide a foundation for research into trypanosomiasis prevention and yield important insights with broad implications for multiple aspects of tsetse biology.

This article presents and discusses results obtained in an educommunicative dynamic with elementary and high school students from the State School Professora Tereza Conceição de Arruda, located in the Quilombo Mata Cavalo (state of Mato Grosso). The qualitative research methodology is supported by Gaston Bachelard’s dream phenomenology and Michele Sato’s imaginary cartography. As a resource for obtaining data, we use observation and in-depth interview. We identified that the climate emergency phenomenon affects the quilombo and that its effects are more severe in a population in a situation of vulnerability. We conclude that socio-environmental educommunication, in audiovisual arguments, communicates the climate crisis that affects the community and poses itself as a resistance manifestation by quilombola students.

- Abstract
The strong affinity between the Spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptor is postulated as one of the main reasons for the high viral transmission rate, leading the WHO to declare COVID-19 as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and to adopt measures to contain viral spread. Moreover, due to the virus’s pathophysiological mechanism, non-specific symptoms, atypical progression, especially in the elderly and immunocompromised, and a faster and more lethal progression are observed. Additionally, as knowledge about the natural history of the virus infection has advanced, persistent symptoms and/or sequelae causing organic dysfunctions and negatively impacting patients’ quality of life have been noted. In light of this, the objective of this article was to present an integrative review of the main sequels of COVID-19 in the years 2021 and 2022. To achieve this, full articles were searched in the Scientific Electronic Library Online, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, and PubMed research databases, in both Portuguese and English languages, using the PRISMA methodology (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), resulting in the selection of 14 articles. Among the results, the following stand out: the pathogenesis of persistent COVID-19 is based on the theory of immune phenomena secondary to infection, abnormal immune response, and the presence of the virus in immunologically privileged sites; prevalent complications include fatigue, dyspnea, subjective cognitive impairment, neurological sequelae, central nervous system inflammatory diseases, and post-viral olfactory dysfunction; evidence of a causal relationship between COVID-19 and subacute thyroiditis was presented; a higher number of complications and hospitalizations were demonstrated in vitamin D-deficient patients; as well as the presence of neuropsychiatric symptoms in the healthcare professional population. In conclusion, a scarcity of

Purpose: This study analyzes the influence of diagnostic and interactive use of the performance measurement system (PMS) on job satisfaction and affective organizational commitment. Originality/value: The study provides empirical evidence that contributes to highlighting the contrasting findings in the literature on how the use of PMS influences job satisfaction and the affective organizational commitment of individuals. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was carried out with middlelevel managers of companies featured in the Best Companies to Work For ranking by the Você S/A magazine, where a sample of 167 valid responses was obtained. We applied the structural equation modeling to test the hypotheses. Findings: The results show a direct relationship between the interactive use of PMS and job satisfaction. They also indicate a direct connection between job satisfaction and affective organizational commitment. Furthermore, they show that diagnostic use directly impacts affective organizational commitment, while interactive use indirectly impacts affective organizational commitment by mediating job satisfaction. These results contribute to the literature by revealing that PMS's diagnostic and interactive uses result in different psychological consequences, such as job satisfaction and affective organizational commitment. They also contribute by reinforcing the previous literature regarding the complementarity and interdependence of the dual role of the PMS in the organizational context since the interactive use provides a flexible basis for the performance of activities, and the diagnostic use requires alignment of individual behaviors with organizational standards. This study examines the use of Instagram by a group of federal deputies elected by the state of Mato Grosso in 2022, focusing on their digital communication tied to the image of Jair Bolsonaro. The goal is to comprehend the attributes employed by the candidates in constructing their public image and how these characteristics align with Bolsonarism. The text engages in a theoretical discussion centered around the concepts of political alignment, right-wing populism, and public image. In terms of empirical data, 1,292 posts were gathered from August 15 to October 30, 2022, and the top three posts with the highest engagement per week for each candidate were selected, resulting in a total of 231 publications. A content analysis reveals that the public image of the candidates invokes specific attributes that indicate varying degrees and forms of alignment with Bolsonarism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COAL ash ,FLY ash ,HEAVY metals ,ZEOLITES ,AQUEOUS solutions ,ATOMIC absorption spectroscopy - Abstract
Pollution of water bodies from improper disposal of toxic metal contaminated effluents causes several problems for the environment. Several processes can be used to remove these metal ions from aqueous media, and the adsorption being the most efficient technique. In this process, a diversity of adsorbent materials is used, with the use of zeolite 4A emphasized in this study. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of zeolite 4A as an adsorbent material for the removal of Cu
2+ , Cd2+ , Pb2+ , and Zn2+ from aqueous media. For this, zeolite 4A was synthesized by the hydrothermal route starting from two sources of precursors, one from standard reagents (ZA-P) and the other from coal fly ash (ZA), a residue from a thermoelectric industry plant in the state of Ceará (Brazil). Both materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and cation exchange capacity techniques. The materials were subjected to batch adsorption tests with multi-element synthetic solutions of Pb2+ , Cu2+ , Zn2+ , and Cd2+ . The parameters investigated in the adsorption experiments were the dosage effect, contact time, and adsorption equilibrium. Flame atomic absorption spectroscopy was used for metal ion quantitation. The characterization results showed that both ZA-P and ZA yielded mainly the crystalline phase of zeolite 4A. In the dosage test, a weight of 100 mg promoted the best results for both ZA-P and ZA, with ZA achieving superior removal results. Pb2+ was more efficiently removed at 95% for ZA and 93% for ZA-P. In addition, at the time of contact, it was observed that ZA reached equilibrium faster (10 min) than ZA-P (50 min). In the adsorption equilibrium, the Langmuir model was able to describe almost all results, only the Zn2+ for ZA was modeled by the Freundlich isotherm. The affinity of metal ions for materials followed the order (Pb2+ > Cd2+ > Zn2 > Cu2+ ) for ZA-P and (Pb2+ > Cd2+ > Cu2+ > Zn2+ ) for ZA. Finally, it is concluded that both products have potential for application as metal adsorbents of Cu2+ , Cd2+ , Pb2+ , and Zn2+ in aqueous solutions and that coal fly ash can be recycled to obtain zeolite. Textile effluents are known to be complex matrices, requiring a combination of treatment techniques to achieve conditions that allow effluent to be discarded into environment. The electrocoagulation technique manages to remove most of the pollutants present in textile effluents, but generally does not achieve complete removal. This work studied the efficiency of combined electrochemical oxidation and ozonation techniques in the post-treatment of a real textile effluent after electrocoagulation and decantation processes. The experiments were carried out in batch mode using Ti/RuO
2 electrodes (2 plates) and an ozone generator (0.875 g·h-1 ·L-1 ). Three current densities were studied, 33.3, 66.6, and 133.3 A·m-2. The turbidity, color, dissolved organic carbon, and pH were analyzed to evaluate the treatment process. The results showed higher efficiency for removing color and dissolved organic carbon with increasing current density. Applying the ozonation process alone had the lowest color and dissolved organic carbon removal efficiencies. The best experiment was with the current density of 66.6 A·m-2 integrated with O3 promoted removal percentages of 91.77%, 33.02%, and 91.09% for turbidity, dissolved organic carbon, and color, respectively.

Historical records of groundwater levels in tubular wells are important for environmental studies in water resources field. Monitoring the level of groundwater sources is essential for their management as it provides the necessary support to estimate their quantity to identify possible changes in water flow. In Rio Grande do Sul state, southern Brazil, groundwater is one of the main sources of water in several locations, being mostly used for public supply and agricultural activities. The prediction of groundwater levels is a matter of interest to public and private agencies, since they provide data for the construction of groundwater scenarios, necessary for the integrated management of water resources. Methodologies structured in monitored data and using artificial intelligence in the context of machine learning were implemented to carry out the prediction of groundwater levels. The objective was to obtain models to produce the prediction of daily data of groundwater levels in monitoring wells in light of techniques based on programming and computer learning. From an architecture composed of empirical models guided by climatological data, machine learning techniques were applied to simulate the behavior of groundwater levels in different monitoring wells. Models were built from techniques of Artificial Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, Random Forests and Gradient Boosting Machine. The results achieved evidenced the good performance in the use of methods based on machine learning, being approaches that present great advantages in view of their high accuracy and predictive attributes. The learning techniques and the structuring of models guided by climatological and spatial data showed high learning rates, which was demonstrated by the error estimators employed. Thus, this work proposes support tools for the analysis, development and implementation of methodologies for modeling time series of groundwater levels in monitoring networks.
