Objective To explore the effect of moderate fatty liver on cardiac function in orthotopic autologous liver transplantation model rats. Methods Sixty SPF-grade healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups (20 rats in each group). Group A was fed ordinary diet for 6 weeks and underwent laparotomy followed by separation of the blood vessels and ligaments around the liver and abdominal closure; group B was fed ordinary diet for 6 weeks and underwent orthotopic autologous liver transplantation; group C was fed high-fat diet for 6 weeks and underwent orthotopic autologous liver transplantation. The body mass, liver wet mass, liver index, and serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) after 6 weeks of feeding, as well as intraoperative blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, proportion of arrhythmia occurring in the new liver stage, and serum levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (α-HBDH), creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB), and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) at 0, 5, 10, and 60 min in the new liver stage were compared. Results The body mass, liver wet mass, liver index, and serum AST and ALT levels, as well as intraoperative systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and proportion of arrhythmia occurring in the new liver stage in group C were significantly higher than those in groups A and B (F=36.40-4 060.54,χ2 =10.91,P0.05). The serum levels of LDH, α-HBDH, CK, CK-MB, and hs-cTn at different time points in the new liver stage were significantly higher in group C than in groups A and B (F=14.11-1 057.08,P

● The pursuit of green development faces challenges of environmental impacts and low resource-use efficiency in fertilizer production.● Green intelligent fertilizers can be designed to harness the synergy among plants, soils, microorganisms, nutrient sources and the environment.● New strategies are proposed to align with the principles of green development in both industry and agriculture.● Green intelligent fertilizers highlight a path toward harmonizing fertilizer production with the imperatives of green agriculture.This review addresses the growing disparity between the current state of fertilizer production in China and the evolving demands of green agriculture in the 21st century. It explores major advances in fertilizers, proposes the concept of green intelligent fertilizers and develops new strategies aligned with the principles of green development in fertilizer industry and agriculture. Green intelligent fertilizers may be designed to maximize the synergistic effects among plants, soils, microorganisms, nutrient sources and the environment. This concept emphasizes the integration of industry and agriculture toward green development for entire industry chain, using an interdisciplinary approach to drive the green transformation of fertilizer industry, and promote green and sustainable development of agriculture. By bridging the gap between the current state of fertilizer industry and a growing need for environmentally responsible agricultural practices, this review highlights a path toward harmonizing fertilizer production with the imperatives of green agriculture.

Boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) is a promising therapeutic method for malignant tumors and has entered the clinical trials. As a binary cellular accurate therapy, BNCT relies on tumor-targeting boron delivery. It is intriguing for boron delivery design that selective recognization, target, and accumulation are based on specific or differential expression receptors on the tumor cell surface. Several delivery strategies targeting other subcellular organelles have also emerged. Here, we summarized the selection, challenges, and improvement of boron targeting delivery methods in small molecule boron drugs and boron-containing nanoparticles. In the future, new technologies, new methods, and new ideas include target receptors finding via omics, ligands optimization via machine learning, and establishment of modular boron cores based on receptors and ligands libraries, thereby provide great convenience for the development of molecular-targeted boron drugs and multi-targeted boron drugs.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been tested for the prevention and treatment of various intestinal and extra-intestinal diseases, but its efficacy is not stable, which may be due to the lack of an optimized method for screening high-quality donors. The low efficiency and high cost of donor screening are also obstacles to the clinical application of FMT. In this study, we tested the efficiency of the constitution theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in screening high-quality FMT donors. College student volunteers were sorted into either the balanced TCM constitution (BC) or unbalanced TCM constitution (UBC) groups, with the latter group comprising eight different constitution types, and the gut microbiota profiles of each UBC were compared with that of BC. Subsequently, the success rates of the qualified donors of BC and UBC volunteers were compared. Finally, the anti-obesity effect of FMT, obtained using the fecal microbiota of BC and UBC donors, was tested on mice with high fat diet-induced obesity. The results showed that the gut microbiota of BC and UBC volunteers were significantly different. There was a higher proportion of qualified FMT donors in the BC volunteer group than in the UBC volunteer group. Moreover, the experiment in mice showed that the fecal microbiota of BC and UBC volunteers conferred different anti-obesity effects. Overall, TCM constitution could be a reference for FMT practice. Our study presents a new idea, namely, using TCM constitution theory to efficiently screen high-quality FMT donors.

Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is an important complication following the use of iodinated contrast media. Bilirubin has a protective effect but may also aggravate CI-AKI. The purpose of this systematic review was to assess whether bilirubin is a risk factor for CI-AKI. We searched the databases PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Ovid Medline, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), VPCS (Vip Paper Check System), Wanfang, and CBM (Chinese BioMedical Literature Database) from the initial date to May 6, 2023. We summarized the results by directly combining the effect-size odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) and identified sources of heterogeneity through subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, and meta-regression analysis. A total of 10 studies (14 data sets) were included: 7 retrospective studies (10 data sets) and 3 prospective studies (4 data sets), involving 12776 participants. The incidence of CI-AKI of 16% (95% CI: 14-19%). Total bilirubin was positively associated with the occurrence of CI-AKI (OR = 1.80; 95% CI: 1.36-2.38). Both low and high bilirubin concentrations were risk factors for CI-AKI. The incidence of CI-AKI was higher in the low bilirubin group than in the high bilirubin group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: We conducted this multicenter, retrospective cohort study aiming to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of vedolizumab (VDZ) and infliximab (IFX) in biologic‐naïve patients with moderate‐to‐severe ulcerative colitis (UC). Methods: Biologic‐naïve patients with moderate‐to‐severe UC who were treated with IFX or VDZ for at least 14 weeks at three tertiary hospitals in southwest China between January 2021 and January 2023 were retrospectively included. Efficacy of the biologics was evaluated based on the steroid‐free clinical remission rate, clinical remission rate, and mucosal healing rate at Weeks 14 and 52. Adverse events related to biologic use were recorded. Results: Altogether 122 biologic‐naïve patients with moderate‐to‐severe UC were included. No marked differences in the steroid‐free clinical remission rate and clinical remission rate were observed between the two groups at Week 14 or Week 52 (P > 0.05). The VDZ group exhibited a higher mucosal healing rate at Week 14 compared to the IFX group (33.3% vs 16.9%, P = 0.036), while that at Week 52 did not differ between the two groups (65.6% vs 47.1%, P = 0.098). There was no statistically significant difference in the rate of adverse events between the two groups (P = 0.071). Conclusion: VDZ and IFX showed comparable clinical efficacy and safety profiles and can be used as viable first‐line therapeutic options for biologic‐naïve patients with moderate‐to‐severe UC.
