El trabajo de investigación que presentamos a continuación se centra en el análisis, desde una perspectiva espacio-temporal, de SHK Principal y SHK Extensión, dos yacimientos con naturaleza de palimpsesto ubicados en el Lecho II de la Garganta de Olduvai (Tanzania), a partir fundamentalmente del registro lítico recuperado durante las recientes excavaciones realizadas por nuestro equipo en dichos yacimientos. Esta finalidad general conlleva la consecución de varios objetivos específicos: a) delimitar, a través del método arqueoestratigráfico, los conjuntos de materiales (restos líticos y faunísticos) que emplearemos como marcos analíticos -con la máxima resolución temporal alcanzable en los palimpsestos objeto de estudio- para conocer las conductas humanas del pasado; b) evaluar el grado de integridad de cada una de las unidades arqueoestratigráficas identificadas para determinar en qué medida las dinámicas postdeposicionales han podido afectar a las asociaciones de artefactos y los patrones generados por la actividad antrópica; c) caracterizar desde un punto de vista tecno-tipológico los distintos conjuntos líticos aislados previamente mediante el estudio arqueoestratigráfico de sendas secuencias; d) identificar los remontajes líticos y explorar la distribución espacial de las conexiones halladas., Escuela de Doctorado, Doctorado en Europa y el Mundo Atlántico: Poder, Cultura y Sociedad

La anorexia nerviosa es un trastorno de la alimentación que se caracteriza por el peso corporal anormalmente bajo, el temor intenso a aumentar peso y la percepción distorsionada del peso. El objetivo de este estudio es realizar una revisión bibliográfica de los tratamientos utilizados en adolescentes con anorexia nerviosa. Esto se ha llevado a cabo por la búsqueda de artículos científicos de los últimos 5 años (2017-2021). Los cuales han sido encontrados en las bases de datos Pubmed y Web of Science a través de la biblioteca digital de la Universidad Miguel Hernández. Tras la búsqueda de artículos, seleccionamos los que estaban dentro de estudios con al menos 6 meses de seguimiento, y estudios realizados con muestras aleatorias de pacientes diagnosticadas con anorexia en base al DSM-IV-R o al DSM-V con el objetivo de encontrar unos resultados claros a la hora de saber el tratamiento más efectivo. Dentro de los estudios más significativos hemos hecho una comparación entre los tratamientos más efectivos para la intervención de esta afección. Primero los tratamientos de terapias multifamiliares y familiares, después los relacionados con la cognición y el peso y seguidamente los de estimulación profunda. Los últimos son los de tratamiento hospitalario familiar. Dentro de todos estos resultados hemos dado con los más efectivos gracias a los datos obtenidos. Estas intervenciones psicológicas están diseñadas para ayudar a las personas con anorexia. Cambiar nerviosamente comportamientos y actitudes relacionados con los trastornos alimentarios

We owe it our ability to adapt to a complex environment in continuous change; it ensures that decisions are made on the basis of knowledge, previously acquired through experience or transmitted from generation to generation in human culture. It is also the cognitive capacities that allow us to imagine the future in order to anticipate it, being creative in problem-solving, but also identifying beauty in our perceptions and reproducing it in art pieces. Our cognitive capacities make us humans. Looking for a comprehensive theory of cognition implies first recognizing that many of the key dynamics that enable information processing can, in fact, be implemented by different biological hardware, not only brains, and that this has been widely exploited by evolution. Therefore, future research plans need to study cognition as the total set of mechanisms and processes that underlie information acquisition, storage, processing, and use. This has to be done across organizational levels and biological systems connected to each other and with the environment. In short, the path that cognitive science needs to take, represents the refounding of a discipline of knowledge. We identify three pillars: (1) to focus in organisms (not only organs) and collectives of organisms, (2) to put forward the ecological dimension of cognitive behaviour and (3) to consider an evolutionary, cultural, and historical perspective. Cognitive science can no longer run on parallel paths of science, but must converge and define a new holistic direction that will bring about new understanding.

Altres ajuts: Fundación Piel Sana AEDV. Background: There are several therapeutic options for infantile haemangiomas (IH). Propranolol is used according to a pivotal trial. We aimed to describe the characteristics of IH in clinical practice, including the therapies used, and to compare the characteristics of patients treated with propranolol with those of the trial to assess its external validity. Methods: Consecutive patients attending 12 Spanish hospitals from June 2016 to October 2019 were included (n = 601). Results: The mean age was 3.9 (SD:1.9) months, with a 2:1 female-to-male ratio. Most IHs were localized (82%, 495), superficial (64%, 383) and located in the face (25%, 157) and trunk (31%, 188). Median size was 17 (IR: 10-30) x 12 (IR: 7-20) mm. Complications were found in 16 (3%) patients. Treatment was initiated for 52% (311). Most patients received timolol (76%, 237); propranolol was reserved for complications or high-risk IHs. Aesthetic impairment was the main reason for starting therapy (64%, 199). Several characteristics of the patients and IHs treated with propranolol are similar to those of the pivotal clinical trial, but 1/3 of IHs did not reach the minimum diameter to meet the inclusion criteria, and important prognostic information was not reported. Conclusions: As most patients receive treatment for aesthetic impairment, there is a need to better understand the aesthetic results of therapies and to increase evidence on the use of timolol, which is currently the most common therapy. Propranolol is being used in a population generally similar to that of the trial; however, this statement cannot be definitely confirmed.

[Introducción] la endoscopia tiene un papel fundamental en el manejo de los pacientes con colitis ulcerosa (CU), ya que permite la visualización y evaluación de la gravedad de la enfermedad. No obstante, dicha evaluación no es siempre algo objetivo, por lo que se han desarrollado diferentes escalas que pretenden homogeneizar los hallazgos., [Objetivo] el objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la variabilidad interobservador entre el Índice de Mayo Endoscópico (IME) y el Índice de Severidad Endoscópica de la Colitis Ulcerosa (UCEIS), al analizar la gravedad de las lesiones endoscópicas en pacientes con CU. El objetivo secundario fue analizar si la preparación catártica afectaba al grado de concordancia entre los endoscopistas., [Material y métodos] se trata de un estudio observacional comparativo de una única cohorte a la cual se realiza una colonoscopia bajo guía de práctica clínica habitual a pacientes con CU y se estadifica según el IME y el UCEIS por tres endoscopistas expertos. Para valorar el grado de correlación interobservador se utilizaron el índice de Kappa para el IME y el coeficiente de correlación intraclase para el UCEIS. Se incluyeron 67 pacientes, con edad media de 51 años (DE ± 16,7) e índice de Mayo clínico medio de 3,07 (DE ± 2,54)., [Resultados] el índice de Kappa ponderado entre los endoscopistas A y B para el IME fue de 0,8; entre el A y el C, de 0,52; y entre el B y el C, de 0,49. Para el UCEIS, el coeficiente de correlación intraclase fue del 0,922 entre los tres endoscopistas (IC 95 %: 0,832-0,959). Se encontró una mejor correlación interobservador cuando la preparación catártica era ≥ 8 según la escala de Boston., [Conclusión] existe, por tanto, una superior correlación entre los diferentes endoscopistas para el UCEIS que para el IME, por lo que debería ser considerado como el mejor índice a utilizar en la práctica clínica. Una buena preparación catártica es importante para mejorar la correlación interobservador.

Several businesses are nowadays becoming more and more aware of the potential that lies beneath Big Data. From social media ‘titans’ and healthcare companies, to the mobile industry that propelled them, 5th Generation mobile network (5G) will be a fundamental factor that will drive our new reality. Current mobile service usage has been explored for data-driven organizational growth in the touristic sector, as it allows forecasting hotel occupancy rates or targeting customers. However, mobile data is continuously increasing, and therefore it is enormously important to analyze such data for networking purposes. Previous Ericsson Mobility Reports claimed that by the end of 2022 the total monthly traffic associated with mobile devices would be 77 exabytes (EB), representing 20% of the total Internet Protocol (IP) traffic around the world. They also declare that 50 EB/month would come from 2nd Generation mobile network (2G), 3rd Generation mobile network (3G), and 4th Generation mobile network (4G) devices. In terms of 5G subscriptions, it is expected to reach up to 2.8 billion subscriptions globally by the end of 2025, accounting for about 30% of total mobile subscriptions. Experts stake out that by the year 2020, 1.7 megabytes of data will be generated every second for every person on the planet, forcing the network to evolve and adapt to challenging new demands. Network providers not only deal with the deployment of the required resources to support this growth, but also the potential newcomers into the business, and the stringent conditions of the distinct services to be provided. One of the features proposed to face this dilemma is using the network slicing technique. It allows to transform and orchestrate a 5G network by creating multiple logical instances (i.e., slices) on top of it, while Big Data would provide the specifications of the services’ traffic dynamics to be served. In this way, operators achieve the best allocation of resources. This thesis contributes to the ongoing Network Slicing research, assessing a nationwide scenario. Our results show mobile traffic similarities and differences across time, space, and frequency domains, whereas we intend for distinct service clusterizations that would enhance the network efficiency in terms of resource management. For instance, we show that benefits are achieved when considering the top 10 consuming Network Slice (NS). In addition, we could observe mobile service similarities in the spatial domain, while the spectral and time domains open the door for wavelets uncertainty, where we point future directions to address this research branch. Moreover, we propose two data-driven algorithms that shed light on the trade-off between complexity and multiplexing efficiency derived from the network slice specifications, both exhibiting promising performances (e.g., leading to a new architecture for traffic balancing in the cloud and edge clusters, with 60% and 400% gain in efficiency respectively and 1/3 of dedicated resources). Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a quadruple regimen (BMTO) of the "3-in-1 capsule" (containing bismuth subcitrate potassium, metronidazole and tetracycline) plus omeprazole in naïve and previously treated patients diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in the clinical setting in Seville (Spain). Methods: This is a prospective study carried out on consecutive patients with a confirmed H. pylori infection and upper gastrointestinal symptoms. After providing their informed consent, the patients were treated for ten days with a 3-in-1 capsule containing bismuth subcitrate potassium (140 mg), metronidazole (125 mg) and tetracycline (125 mg: Pylera®), three capsules four times daily, plus omeprazole (20 or 40 mg) twice daily. Eradication of infection was determined by a negative urea breath test at least 28 days after the end of treatment. Results: A total of 58 consecutive patients were enrolled into this study, two of whom withdrew early due to vomiting on days three and five, respectively. In this cohort, 17 patients (29.3%) had a prior history of medication to treat H. pylori. In the intent-to-treat population, eradication was achieved in 97.6% (40/41) and 82.4% (14/17) of cases in patients treated with BMTO as a first-line or rescue therapy, respectively. At least one adverse event was reported by 28 (48%) patients, mostly mild effects (86%). Conclusion: A ten day treatment with BMTO is an effective and safe strategy to combat confirmed H. pylori infection in patients. Objetivo: evaluar la eficacia y seguridad de la terapia cuádruple con omeprazol más "una cápsula tres-en-uno" que contiene subcitrato de bismuto, metronidazol y tetraciclina (BMTO) en pacientes, naïve y fracasos previos, diagnosticados de infección con Helicobacter pylori, en el área de Sevilla, en condiciones de práctica clínica habitual. Métodos: estudio prospectivo realizado en pacientes consecutivos con infección confirmada por Helicobacter pylori y síntomas gastrointestinales del tracto superior. Los pacientes fueron tratados, tras firmar el consentimiento, con Pylera® (cápsula tres-en-uno que contiene 140 mg de subcitrato de bismuto, 125 mg de metronidazol y 125 mg de tetraciclina) cuatro veces al día, más omeprazol (20 o 40 mg) dos veces al día, durante diez días. La erradicación fue establecida mediante un test de urea en aliento negativo realizado, al menos, 28 días después de finalizar el tratamiento. Resultados: un total de 58 pacientes fueron incluidos consecutivamente, dos de ellos fueron retirados del estudio por vómitos al tercer y quinto día, respectivamente. Diecisiete (29,3%) pacientes tenían historia previa de tratamiento de su infección por Helicobacter pylori. En la población por intención de tratar las tasas de erradicación fueron del 97,6% (40/41) y del 82,4% (14/17) en los pacientes tratados con Pylera® como primera línea o como terapia de rescate, respectivamente. Veintiocho pacientes (48%) presentaron, al menos, un acontecimiento adverso, la mayoría (86%) leves. Conclusión: diez días de tratamiento con BMTO es una estrategia eficaz y segura en pacientes con infección confirmada por Helicobacter pylori.

There is a lack of knowledge on how ASes have been behaving at African IXPs from 2005 up to now, the period those IXPs have been existing for, their richness in term of reachable ASes or prefixes, etc. To correct this situation, we collected and analyzed PCH data from 2005-2015 which involve 12 African IXPs in Africa, including JINX and KIXP (known to host RouteViews Collector). The analysis of such data reveals some interesting metrics per IXP, namely the time difference between prefix allocation (AFRINIC DB) and appearance on the Internet (RIS data/RIPE stats), the time difference between prefix allocation (AFRINIC DB) and appearance at an IXP (PCH data), the number of prefixes visible at each IXP, Origin ASN and Prefix growth stats per year for each IXP, and etc. We presented the results during this talk.
