O presente artigo propõe uma análise de Encontros (2006), de Pierre-Marie Goulet, segundo filme da trilogia que o cineasta francês realizou em Portugal. Pretende-se com esta reflexão crítica dar conta do trabalho etnográfico, artístico e antropológico que Goulet desenvolveu através deste filme, em que estabelece o cruzamento entre a poesia popular, a comunidade piscatória de Furadouro, o filme Mudar de Vida (1966), de Paulo Rocha, os cantares alentejanos e corsos, e em que assinala os encontros entre Michel Giacometti, António Reis e as gentes do povo que se dedicavam a formas de expressão artística, como a camponesa e poetisa Virgínia Dias. A estrutura do filme de Goulet vai além do registo de testemunhos ou do olhar pessoal sobre a memória, lugares e afinidades eletivas entre pessoas que temporal e espacialmente poderiam estar distantes. O cineasta trabalha por associações livres, de imagens e sons, dentro de unidades temáticas que se vão acumulando e aprofundando, centrando-se na polifonia de vozes e sonoridades, na repetição de imagens que adquirem valores dramáticos diferentes. Juntamente com os restantes filmes do tríptico, Encontros contribui para aprofundar o pensamento sobre a etno-ficção e o documentário, no contexto do cinema português e da antropologia visual.

This article aims to systematise and provide a structure for research into the Future of Work (FoW). We used SciMAT to conduct a science mapping analysis based on co-word bibliographic networks. The Web of Science (WoS) database was used for article retrieval, and a total of 2,286 documents were identified from 1959 to 2019. Our results are counterintuitive, as concerns over satisfaction, leadership values or corporate social responsibility (CSR) appear alongside traditional human resource management (HRM) themes, such as organisational commitment or careers, as well as more current FoW themes, such as the impact of technological change on employment, wage inequality, vulnerable workers, telework or talent management. In addition, we offer a classification of the most prolific FoW research themes and challenges into technological, social, economic and political categories.

A pesar del interés en la Gestión Internacional de los Recursos Humanos en los últimos años, aún deben abordarse varios problemas para proporcionar claridad y comprensión conceptual. Este artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer una revisión sistemática de la literatura de la Gestión Internacional de los Recursos Humanos, destacando los principales temas y tendencias observados en este campo. El estudio ofrece una evaluación crítica, profundizando la comprensión de lo que es la Gestión Internacional de los Recursos Humanos, e identificando las líneas de investigación futuras más prometedoras. Se desarrolló un análisis de mapeo científico basado en redes de co-palabras de la literatura, utilizando la herramienta bibliométrica SciMAT. Se siguieron tres pasos: primero, se detectaron temas de investigación; segundo, se visualizaron los temas de investigación y las redes temáticas; y tercero, se midieron mediante análisis de rendimiento las contribuciones hechas por los temas de investigación. Mil setecientos siete documentos publicados entre 1974 y 2020 fueron recuperados de la Web of Science. En el último periodo (2015-2020) los temas motores son el ajuste intercultural, las multinacionales, las carreras globales y la gestión intercultural. La satisfacción de los trabajadores es un tema especializado, mientras que China es un tema transversal. La gestión global del talento, las mujeres en el contexto internacional y la diversidad son temas emergentes. Este análisis ayudará a informar a los investigadores, profesionales y administraciones públicas sobre la importancia de la Gestión Internacional de los Recursos Humanos.

The current socio-economic and politico-humanitarian crisis is reflected in the progressive entanglement of social cohesion. The increase of social, political, and economic vulnerabilities, consequently with the perspective of local human development, make one realize the importance of dimensions such as social capital—and in the networks of relationships according to a perspective of the subject—that occur in a specific urban context where territory is understood as a resource and networks, building new environments of citizen empowerment, avoiding to increase marginal structural contexts. With these premises, this research aims to analyze the scientific production with the greatest impact on the social cohesion crisis, interpreted as a consequence of advanced marginality, a complex set of economic, political, and socio-structural vulnerabilities in relation to stigmatization, a key element in the vulnerability of subjects. SciMAT, a bibliometric science mapping software tool based on co-word analysis and h-index, is applied using a sample of 4297 articles from 1963 to 2018 published in 1119 journals main communication in the database Web of Science. The results show how social exclusion and stigma are strongly related to the understanding of the constant increase in social vulnerabilities.

This paper provides a systematic review of the phenomenon of menopause at the workplace from a sustainable career perspective, by highlighting its major themes along with the evolution and tendencies observed in this field. A conceptual science mapping analysis based on co-word bibliographic networks was developed, using the SciMAT tool. From 1992 to 2020, 185 documents were retrieved from the Web of Science. In the first analyzed time span (1992–2002), postmenopausal women, health, and risk factors appeared to be the motor themes (well-developed and important for the structure of the discipline under focus), and disorder was an emerging or disappearing theme in the phenomenon under research. In the second studied period (2003–2013), risk and health were motor themes, menopausal symptoms was a basic or transversal theme (important for the discipline but not well-developed), coronary heart disease was a specialized theme (well-developed but less important for the structure of the research field), and postmenopausal women was an emerging or disappearing theme (both weakly developed and marginal to the field). In the third studied period (2014–2020), menopause, breast cancer, and menopausal symptoms were motor themes, Anxiety was a specialized theme and risk and body mass index were emerging or disappearing themes. Sustainability of women’s careers in the second half of life is of increasing importance given the increasing equal representation of men and women in working organizations, and the impact of the changing nature of work in the 21st century on older workers.

When a company goes into crisis, the first and most typical response is the dismissal of people, even before considering the sources of the decline. Although the reduction of costs may seem a quick and reasonable measure in this context, downsizing is not the only possibility, nor the most advisable response when facing decline. In turn, by identifying and understanding the sources of decline in time, a company may want to decide on human resource (HR) alternatives to layoffs. This research shows how the HR responses of declining companies should be in line with the sources of the decline. Adopting a configurational perspective, we propose a model of analysis that links sources of decline, turnaround strategy, and HR strategy (HRS) and practices. This model identifies four basic HRS for organizations in decline, according to its sources: flexibility-oriented, efficiency-oriented, niche-oriented, and maintenance-oriented HRS."

The influence of national institutions, particularly employee representation, on managers' turnaround strategiesremains largely unexplored in the literature. Therefore, this paper assesses the pressures that affected two Europeanairline companies, British Airways (BA) and Iberia, and their turnaround responses in a context of economic crisisand austerity, particularly from the perspective of strategic human resource management (SHRM). Our case studiesshow that when national institutions grant a number of rights to employee representatives, an innovative HRM strategy enables the recovery strategy required to deal with internal sources of decline. In contrast, when nationalinstitutions provide fewer rights to employee representatives, there is room for company HRM strategy to challengeor resist institutional pressures. Despite the relevance of human resources in the management of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), confusion and theoretical chaos are still evident in the area. This manuscript provides a systematic review of the link between CSR and Human Resource Management (HRM), stressing the main topics along with the evolution and tendencies founded in this field. SciMAT was used to conduct a conceptual science mapping analysis based on co-word bibliographic networks. From 2006 to 2019, 194 documents were retrieved from the Web of Science. Considering the last period (2017&ndash, 2019), the motor themes (those which are well-developed and relevant for the structure of the research field) were environmental management (including green HRM), sustainable HRM and pro-environmental behaviour. Socially responsible HRM (SR-HRM) was a basic theme (important, although not developed). Perceived organisational support was a specialised theme (well-developed, although less important), and employee commitment was an emerging theme (both weakly developed and marginal). In addition, a review of the measurement tools used in the main topics extracted from the previous analysis was carried out. Our analysis will help inform researchers and practitioners on the future of CSR and HRM and the previous efforts in the creation of measurement instruments.

This study investigates the coevolution of the sources of decline, the turnaround strategy and the human resource strategy (HRS) at Iberia Airlines, together with the influence of employee responses to these strategies. The analysis of several moments of organisational decline at Iberia, comparing measures adopted in pre- and post-financial crisis periods, shows that, in a sector experiencing a fiercely competitive transformation that negatively affects established companies, the use of downsizing in an organisation with internal deficiencies may create further problems within the company, while an HRS based on flexibility-oriented practices and a fostering approach to strategic negotiations will improve the requisite recovery strategy., Management and Marketing Department (University of Pablo de Olavide)

CD5 is a surface receptor constitutively expressed on thymocytes and mature T and B-1a cells. CD5 expression is tightly regulated during T and B cell development and activation processes. In this study we shown that the constitutive expression of CD5 on human T cells correlates with the presence of a DNase I-hypersensitive (DH) site at the 5′-flanking region of CD5. Human CD5 is a TATA-less gene for which 5′-RACE analysis shows multiple transcriptional start sites, the most frequent of which locates within an initiator sequence. Luciferase reporter assays indicate that a 282-bp region upstream of the initiation ATG displays full promoter activity in human T cells. Two conserved Ets-binding sites (at positions −239 and −185) were identified as functionally relevant to CD5 expression by site-directed mutagenesis, EMSAs, and cotransfection experiments. A possible contribution of Sp1 (−115 and −95), c-Myb (−177), and AP-1-like (−151) motifs was also detected. Further DH site analyses revealed an inducible DH site 10 kb upstream of the human CD5 gene in both T and B CD5+ cells. Interestingly, a 140-bp sequence showing high homology with a murine inducible enhancer is found within that site. The data presented indicate that the 5′-flanking region of human CD5 is transcriptionally active in T cells, and that Ets transcription factors in conjunction with other regulatory elements are responsible for constitutive and tissue-specific CD5 expression.
