School libraries store the energy that enlightens and empowers the creative minds of students. As the COVID-19 outbreak has put up a bar on going outside, school libraries play a unique role in the process of providing students access to knowledge. In the present Internet era, students can visit a library without leaving home. Current research assesses how students utilize and perceive their school library to access knowledge. To examine the questionnaire survey was developed to collect data from 200 secondary school students in Mysore North block and an overall 194 questionnaires were received and the response rate was 97 percent. The findings of the study inferred that the intensification of the internet has helped students to access various educational resources for their academic and individual information improvement. Notable findings from the study offered insights into professional librarians to initiate library orientation programs to make students and teachers aware of the library resources and services in the knowledge society of the 21st century.

The main purpose of the present study is to identify and understand the objectives and factors that influenced LIS teachers to make academic and research contribution towards the profession in India. It also intended to know the opinions of LIS teachers on their overall academic and research contributions towards the profession. A survey approach was used in this study and structured online questionnaire framed. Response was found that out of 353 respondents, 287 (81 %) responses received. The scope of study was confined to in-service teachers of library and information science in state and central universities of India. A total of 287 respondents, 202(70.38 %) was male and 85(29.61) was female. The study found that, the self-interest and professional interest are the major factor responsible for contributing to the LIS field. The self-interest of the LIS teachers has positive direct effect on professional interest and positive indirect effect on overall professional contribution to the LIS field. The professional interest of the LIS teachers has positive direct effect and its positive effect on overall professional contribution to the library and information science profession is statistically significant. It also found that, the overall opinion of LIS teachers on their academic and research contribution towards the profession in India is stating ‘adequate’.

The purpose of this study is to identify the authorship patterns and degree of collaboration of Indian research publications in the field of Chemistry. The main data source for the study is the citations/references of research publications of chemistry indexed in Web f Science during the period 2009-2018. The research method of this study was citation analysis method. Findings of the analysis revealed that the majority of the publications are contributed by multiple authors and the degree of collaboration found to be very high in cited journal literature compared to books and other forms of citations.

The present study attempted to explore and analyze various attributes of research publications of Prof.K.Byrappa, a renowned Indian academician and researcher. The data used in the study have covered from K. Byrappa’s early date of publication to 13th January 2020, indexed in Google Scholar. A total number of 378 articles have been retrieved from Google Scholar for the said period. His h-index is 31 and received 7774 citations for his scholarly research work. In this study, an attempt has been made to highlight the profile and publications of Prof. K. Byrappa as a role model for future researchers and academicians.

To analyze the patterns of failure and factors affecting recurrence and overall survival in mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary gland. The hospital records were retrospectively analyzed from October 2010 to January 2016. Patients diagnosed as mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary gland were eligible for analysis. All patients received surgery as the primary treatment modality with or without post operative radiotherapy. Statistical analysis for factors affecting recurrence was done by cox regression analysis and p value less than 0.05 was considered significant. A total of 116 patients were diagnosed to have malignant salivary gland tumors of which 69 were mucoepidermoid carcinomas (69.5%). The median age was 43 years (8–75 years). Majority of the tumors occurred in major salivary glands gland (77%). 51% patients were females. Most common stage was stage II (36%) followed by stage I (27.5%), stage IV (20.3%) and stage III (16%). High grade carcinomas comprised 34.8%, intermediate grade 30.4% and low grade 34.8%. 36 patients (52.2%) received adjuvant radiotherapy (60 Gy in 30 fractions). At a median follow up of 42 months (8–70 months), 8 (11.6%) patients died (7 cancer related and 1 noncancer related). The locoregional recurrence rate was 4.3% whereas the distant metastasis rate was 11.6%. Most common site of distant metastasis was lung. Badiadka Narayana, a professor in Chemistry from Mangalore University, is a prolific writer in Chemistry and a well-known expert in Crystallography. 691 articles in international journals, 49 in national journals and 165 papers in conference proceedings are the vivid record of his prolific writings. A significant number of articles (392) appeared between the years 2007 and 2011. 325(59.2%) papers of Narayana have appeared in the international journal 'Acta crystallographica section e-structure'. Most of his collaborative works, 242 articles in total, are with H. S. Yathirajan and Sarojini Balladka K.

The present study was carried out to explore the Information Literacy Competency (ILC) among students of Kittur Rani Chennamma College of Horticulture Arabhavi, Belagavi. Data was collected through questionnaire method. The tabulation and analysis was done based on the necessary statistical tools. Results of the study revealed that all the respondents need information for the study, to prepare seminars, assignments and notes. For location of information in the library they search on OPAC / Web OPAC and seek the assistance from the library staff. Majority of them use search engines and using simple search keywords. The respondents suggested incorporating the information literacy programmes in their curriculum. Majority of them suggested conducting information literacy programmes on use of information resources.

The present study explores the information literacy skills among the faculty members of the College of Horticulture, Bagalkote, Karnataka. A survey method was adopted in the study. The structured questionnaire was designed for data collection. A total of 110 questionnaires were distributed and 90 questionnaires were received back. The total response rate was 81.81 percent. The study found that the majority of the faculty members have better knowledge and skills about the use of different types of sources, tools, and services. The respondents suggested that the college library should conduct seminars, workshops, and training programmes from experts to improve information literacy skills.

In this project work, Carbon dioxide using as a working fluid integrated with PCM in the solar receiver is experimentally investigated. Scheffler reflector is applied to get additional solar vitality on the cavity receiver surface. Cavity receiver is designed inside this kind of way in which it can obtain the maximum sun radiation which had been felling on their surface and decrease the heat losses. Apart from the cavity surface staying all surfaces have been completely insulated to be able to reduce the heat loss. PCM can be used to be able to store heat and help to make use of that once the photograph voltaic energy is not available. PCM’s store the power during sunlight hours or getting time. The saved energy is utilized to heat the particular CO2 gas and generates hot CO2 gas throughout off-shine hours or even discharging time. CO2 Brayton cycle consists of a solar receiver, turbocharger, shell and tube heat exchanger, and micro-generator connected with the turbocharger. Acetanilide is using as a PCM in the solar receiver which is gain thermal energy from the sun rays. The melting point of PCM is 113 °C. In the cycle, the lower limit and upper limit of pressure are 75 bar and 130 bar to assemble the compressor (turbocharger) specification. The proper number of thermocouples inserted for typically the identification of thermodynamic state at k-type thermocouples across the solar receiver, condenser, and also inserted thermocouple inside the receiver surface. The mass flow rate control valve is placed at the delivery side of the compressor to control the flow rate. A micro-generator is connected with the turbocharger to generate power. The pressure relief valve is placed between the receiver and turbine (turbocharger) and between the receiver and compressor (turbocharger). Tubes of 25 mm nominal inner diameter with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm. Tube material using SS316L. Typical, the results display that this solar receiver with each other with phase-change heat storage components works extremely well along with a good off the turbocharger concerning power generation within the particular solar Brayton cycle.

Research is one of the key elements that require special focus in management education at present. It has become imperative for management institutions to brace up to the challenges posed by globalisation, and augment the quality of research and allied activities. Researchers today can access resources online, anytime from anywhere—thanks to the “open access” movement, which enables free and unrestricted access to scientific research publications. The present study aimed at assessing and comparing attitude towards open access sources and services among students, researchers and faculty of management colleges in Karnataka. A total of 923 respondents were selected through stratified random sampling. Interview schedule was employed to obtain the required data from the respondents through a structured questionnaire based on vital aspects of open access sources and services. Findings of the study revealed that the respondents, on the whole, held favourable attitudes towards open access. It was found that the faculty group had significantly higher preferences than students and researchers for quality of contents in open access, in terms of increasing reputation of authors, publishers and organisations, and improving peer review process.

This study aims to discover the relationship between delayed gratification in information seeking behavior of research scholars and online resources. The survey method was adopted for data collection through a questionnaire whichwere distributed among research scholars using stratified sampling in three universities in Karnataka (India). The result shows that almost half of the research scholars are satisfied with the Internet access and databases access. The study of dimensions of delayed gratification in information seeking behavior (DGISB) indicates that there is a significant relationship between Internet access with two dimensions of DGISB which are ‘search information’ and ‘communication with experts,’ and there is a significant association between database access and ‘search information.’

As-synthesized Cu-Al LDH was dealuminated by treating with Ammonium hexafluorosilicate (AFS) and calcined to obtain Cu-Al oxide. Cu species from 5 to 20 wt% was impregnated on Cu-Al oxide derived from dealuminated Cu-Al LDH. Resulting samples were characterized by XRD, AAS, BET, TEM, TPR and XPS techniques. Copper species impregnated on dealuminated Cu-Al oxide exhibit enhanced activity in hydrogenation of furfural (FAL) to furfuryl alcohol (FOL). Hydrogen uptake and FAL conversion were found to increase proportionately as the copper species dispersed in the pores vary from 5 to 15 wt%. A maximum yield of 87 mol% FAL was observed with 15 wt% Cu loaded sample. Percent occupancy of the copper active species in the pores is calculated by the decrease in pore volume. A factor called pore occupancy hydrogenation efficiency is introduced to explain the FAL conversion ability of the copper loaded mixed oxides. In contrast, mixed oxides derived from Cu-Al LDH without dealumination showed moderate conversion.

The high-temperature solar coatings and heat transfer fluids play a key role in increasing the performance of concentrating solar power (CSP)/desalination plant. In this paper, the performance of a new type of exfoliated graphite (EG) solar coated on the receiver with sensible heat storage and Scheffler dish is evaluated. The results show that using of exfoliated graphite coating on absorber plate, the system enhances performance up to 40%, thermal stability of 643.9 °C on a rough surface with an absorptive of more than 97% of the solar incident. The several experiment trials conducted in microwave oven show that, EG has high thermal stability even upto 750 °C and observed no significant degrading of thermal properties. The outcome of this research confirms the suitability of such a system for the cavity, volumetric air and surface receivers used for the various solar thermal applications.

In this paper, a low-cost and efficient method based on Scheffler reflector, exfoliated graphite (EG) coating and paraffin wax are developed for desalination system. The solar coating plays a key role in increasing the absorptivity of concentrated solar energy to raise the temperature of the receiver. So, A new type of coating such as exfoliated graphite is adopted on the receiver for desalination. In this work, the coating is experimentally investigated for thermal stability and performance with a Scheffler dish. The brief fabrication procedure with Jigs has been discussed for easy fabrication of unskilled labour to promote entrepreneurship. Extensive tests have been carried out under the sun to find out the effect of exfoliated graphite coating on the absorber assisted with latent heat energy storage unit. It has been observed that the Scheffler reflector with EG coating on absorber plate gives the enhanced thermal performance up to 42% and thermal stability even up to 420 °C with absorptivity more than 97% of the solar incident.

Most of the desalination systems are energy intensive, which consume high grade energy like gas, electricity, oil and fossil fuels. These processes lead to carbon footprints, which causes depletion of ozone layer as well as health hazards on mankind. It is also lead to global warming which is the burning topic and becomes threat to life sustainability. The potential of harnessing solar energy is most efficient and effective for heat to heat conversion. The thermal desalination is a low temperature application processes with one time investment for life time water production up to 10 to 15 years. In this paper, various solar thermal desalination methods such as direct and indirect methods have been discussed. The indirect methods are preferable for medium and large scale desalination systems, whereas the direct methods employing the solar stills are more suitable for small scale systems. The performance of the low cost solar stills can be improved with simple modification by using various locally available materials. These low cost stills can be easily and economically fabricated for meeting daily need of the fresh drinking water. These low cost solar stills are sufficient for the small households and communities living in islands, coastal areas. It can also be uses for distillation of brackish water for the population residing near river banks. Such a system also suitable for the fluoride affected area to remove fluoride from the water. The low cost solar stills are sufficient for removal of arsenic, mercury, cadmium, coliform, virus and bacteria.

Knema Phytosociological studies have been carried out in a Myristica swamp in Northern Kerala to reveal the composition and distribution pattern of different tree species. On the basis of IVI, the family Myristicaceae was dominant and the association is attenuata - Myristica malabarica -Holigarna arnottiana type. The species like Gymnacranthera canarica and Myristica fatua var. magnifica, which are believed to be the essential elements of Myristica swamps, are totally absent here. A total 403 individuals (gbh > 10.1 cm) were recorded with a basal area of 34.25 m2 ha-1 in 0.5 ha. area. Total number of species recorded was 28, which represent 21families in which Myristicaceae represents 48.18% of total IVI. Among two dominant species, Myristica malabarica prefer swampy area hence their number of individual shows decreasing trend when we move from the swamp while the second dominant species Knema attenuata showing a reverse trend and was completely absent in the first five quadrats where soil water content is too high. Species specific eco-physiological studies are required to understand the reasons for change in the distribution pattern of these dominant species.
