In order to effectively mitigate the risk of bird strikes, it is imperative that radomes situated in areas prone to such incidents possess the capability to endure the impact loads caused by bird collisions. Additionally, these radomes must maintain their electromagnetic transparency. Therefore, glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) with Nomex honeycomb sandwich material is used for radome structural design. The current research is intended to examine the dynamic behavior of sandwich composite panels in order to determine the penetration velocity by testing them at three distinct bird impact velocities, such as 88 m/s, 135 m/s, and 153 m/s. It is necessary to find the velocity at which the bird will penetrate / rupture the radome for the safety of Antenna / Electronic units mounted behind the radome. Finite element explicit code LS-DYNA simulates all three impacts. Extension of the simulation estimated the threshold bird impact velocity to be 146 m/s at which it penetrates the sandwich panel under fixture-controlled boundary condition.

The enhancement of composites’ mechanical characteristics (tensile, compressive, and hardness) is a constant demand for technological advancement. The stir casting process is used to make the hybrid aluminium alloy metal matrix composites Al 6061-SiC-AlN in our present study. To create mechanical qualities such as tensile, compressive, and hardness, silicon carbide and aluminium nitride (both 3% and 6%) were utilized as the reinforcement. The tensile strength, compressive strength, and hardness of the Al 6061-SiC-AlN hybrid composites samples were determined. The tensile, compressive, and hardness parameters of Al 6061-SiC-AlN hybrid composites are estimated and evaluated to those of the matrix Al 6061 alloy. With the inclusion of silicon carbide and AlN nanoparticles, the tensile strength, compressive strength, and hardness increased from 328 to 385 MPa, 145 to 178 Mpa, and 302 to 724 VHN, respectively.

The current work focuses on peanut shells and agricultural wastes richly in many nations subjected to pyrolysis treatment at various temperatures in the range of 500–800°C to determine the feasible physiochemical characteristics of the biochar. The biochars with the high surface area were employed to adsorb Pb2+ (lead) ions, the heaviest pollutants in the water bodies. The raw material, biochar, and pyrolyzed biochar were characterized by SEM, FTIR, partial and elemental analysis, and BET tests. The adsorption characteristics of the biochar, pre- and postpyrolysis treatment, were studied with the assistance of batch adsorption tests under varying test conditions. Adsorbing conditions were determined by evaluating the effects of adsorbing parameters like initial concentration of the lead in water, pH of the adsorbent, contact time, and mixing speed on the effective adsorption of Pb2+ ions from water. Langmuir, Freundlich, and Themkin isotherm expressions were employed to study the experimental results. The adsorption kinetics study showed that the synthesized biochars were chemically stable enough to adsorb the Pb ions onto the surface.

For examination, fiber sequences are arranged in the combination of GJBJG, GBJBG, GJGJG, and GBGBG, where G, J, and B refer to glass fiber, jute fiber, and bamboo fiber, respectively. Context and Aim: Diabetes mellitus (DM) can affect one's quality of life (QoL). Literature on the association of QoL among type II diabetics with drug compliance and diet quality among rural communities is poor. This study aimed to determine the QoL among those with type II DM attending an outpatient clinic at a secondary hospital in Tamil Nadu. Settings and Design: A cross-sectional, interview-based study was carried out among those with type II DM. A questionnaire comprising the WHO-BREF tool, Diabetes Healthy Eating Index, Hill-Bone Medication Adherence Scale was administered to participants selected via systematic random sampling. Results: The prevalence of good QoL was estimated to be 51.7% (n = 45, 95% CI: 41.20–62.20). There was no association between good QoL and medication compliance. None of the patients had a good diet quality. Bivariate analysis revealed significant association (p < 0.05) between good QoL and higher education (OR-2.70), those not on medication for complications (OR-2.81) and decreased frequency of general random blood sugar (GRBS) monitoring (OR-2.44). Multivariable analysis adjusting for gender, education, treatment/medication for complications, hospitalisation for DM and GRBS frequency demonstrated significant association between good QoL, lack of medication for complications/co-morbidities and decreased GRBS monitoring frequency with likelihood ratios of 3.25 and 3.44, respectively. Conclusions: The drop in QoL observed could be due to the aftermath of the COVID pandemic. Keeping in mind the impact of healthcare interventions on the QoL of type II DM patients, primary physicians must consider dietary and treatment plans suited to their socio-economic status.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 infection in children can present with varied clinical phenotypes and understanding the pathogenesis is essential, to inform about the clinical trajectory and management. Methods: We performed a multiplex immune assay analysis and compared the plasma biomarkers of Paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection (PIMS-TS), acute COVID-19 infection (COVID-19), SARS-CoV-2 seropositive and control children admitted to a tertiary care children's hospital in Chennai, India. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and growth factors were correlated with SARS-CoV-2 clinical phenotypes. Findings: PIMS-TS children had significantly elevated levels of cytokines, IFNγ, IL-2, TNFα, IL-1α, IFNα, IFNβ, IL-6, IL-15, IL-17A, GM-CSF, IL-10, IL-33 and IL-Ra; elevated chemokines, CCL2, CCL19, CCL20 and CXCL10 and elevated VEGF, Granzyme B and PDL-1 in comparison to COVID-19, seropositive and controls. COVID-19 children had elevated levels of IFNγ, IL-2, TNFα, IL-1α, IFNα, IFNβ, IL-6, IL-17A, IL-10, CCL2, CCL5, CCL11, CXCL10 and VEGF in comparison to seropositive and/or controls. Similarly, seropositive children had elevated levels of IFNγ, IL-2, IL-1α, IFNβ, IL-17A, IL-10, CCL5 and CXCL10 in comparison to control children. Plasma biomarkers in PIMS-TS and COVID-19 children showed a positive correlation with CRP and a negative correlation with the lymphocyte count and sodium levels. Interpretation: We describe a comprehensive plasma biomarker profile of children with different clinical spectrum of SARS-CoV-2 infection from a low- and middle-income country (LMIC) and observed that PIMS-TS is a distinct and unique immunopathogenic paediatric illness related to SARS-CoV-2 presenting with cytokine storm different from acute COVID-19 infection and other hyperinflammatory conditions.

As conventional concrete repairs have shortcomings and impact the environment, multiple attempts exist to find alternative sustainable measures to address this issue. Microbial-induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) using microalgae is one of the proven methods that can heal microcracks. In this study, the method used in repairing micro-cracks is by spraying microalgae species, namely, Arthrospira platensis and Synechococcus elongatus, cultured in a high calcium-based medium onto the surface of the cement mortar. The crack healing was evaluated for 14 days after the cracks were induced by applying 65–70% of the maximum threshold load. The results show that the microalgal-treated specimens exhibited a higher strength recovery, crack closure, and less water absorption than the control specimen. It is also observed that over 75–80% (0.26 mm, approx.) of the cracks can be healed within the span of 14 days sustainably using microalgae. This research investigated the healing capacity of cracked cement mortar by applying a microalgal solution on the surface externally. The study proves that microalgae are a better and more eco-friendly way than other external chemical agents to crack repair. A maximum of 67% strength was regained in 14 days of treatment with Arthrospira platensis. Over 75–80% of cracks can heal after spraying microalgae. The internet of things (IoT) integrates plans, operations, data management, and strategies, because they continuously support businesses, they could be a new point of entry for cyberattacks. IoT security is being seriously threatened by viruses and illicit downloads. These dangers run the risk of obtaining sensitive information, damaging their reputation and their finances. The attack prevention in IoT is detected in this work using a hybrid optimisation mechanism and deep learning a frame. A cybersecurity warning system (CWS) is proposed in this paper, by first preprocessing the input, then classifying, and finally optimizing it. With the modified particle swarm optimization algorithm (MPSO), the IDS is more effective at identifying both normal and abnormal connection in the networks. The smart initialization phase combines various pre-processing strategies to ensure that the informational features incorporated in the early development phase have been enhanced. Then the dilated convolutional neural network (di-CNN) is used for classification and is optimized by using MPSO algorithm to detect the attack. The recommended method is implemented in MATLAB stimulator. The effectiveness of the proposed CWS method approach has been assessed utilising performance criteria such as accuracy, precision ratio, F1 score, specificity, and detection rate. Normally, finding out an optimum itinerary for the MA is a vital research problem in any MA-centred sensor network. Thus to attain effectual data gathering as of multiple sensory data source nodes, an Efficient multi-MA-based Data Aggregation (DA) in WSN centered upon HSSO route planning (EDA-HSSO) is proposed. Primarily, the MKMeans clustering algorithm clusters the sensor nodes (SN). From this generated cluster, the Cluster Head (CH) is chosen by utilizing the Improved Crow Search Algorithm (ICSA). Subsequent to CH-selection, the system plans the route discovery for collecting data as of the CH of every cluster; in addition, here, the Hybrid Salp Swarm Optimization (HSSO) algorithm is employed for route planning (RP).
