Abstract

We present the results from our deep optical photometric observations of Bochum 2 (Boc2) star cluster obtained using the 1.3-m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope along with archival photometric data from Pan-STARRS2/2MASS/UKIDSS surveys. We also used high-quality parallax and proper motion data from the Gaia Data Release 3. We found that the Boc2 cluster has a small size (∼ 1.1 pc) and circular morphology. Using Gaia parallax of member stars and isochrone fitting method, the distance of this cluster is estimated as 3.8 ± 0.4 kpc. We have found that this cluster holds young ( ∼ 5 Myr) and massive (O7–O9) stars as well as an older population of low mass stars. We found that the massive stars were formed in the inner region of the Boc2 cluster in a recent epoch of star formation. We have derived mass function slope (Γ ) in the cluster region as - 2.42 ± 0.13 in the mass range of ∼ 0.72 < M / M ⊙ < 2.8 . The tidal radius of the Boc2 cluster (∼ 7–9) is much more than its observed radius ( ∼ 1.1 pc). This suggests that most of the low-mass stars in this cluster are the remains of an older population of stars formed via an earlier epoch of star formation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The strange quark matter (SQM) whose distribution is governed by the simplified MIT bag model equation of state has been the subject of a series of investigations within the framework of Rastall's theory. We obtain an exact solution of the modified form of the Tolman–Oppenheimer–Volkoff (TOV) equation in the Rastall gravity theory and study the dependence of different physical properties (the total mass, radius, energy density, and pressure) for the chosen values of the Rastall parameter . To examine physical acceptability of the proposed stellar model, we conduct different tests in detail: the energy conditions, the the mass–radius relation, the Compactification factor, the redshift, the system stability, the modified TOV equation, the causality condition, and the adiabatic index in terms of . We precisely explain the effects arising due to the Rastall parameter and geometry on the compact stellar system. We find that as the factor decreases, the strange star candidates become gradually massive and larger in size with a less dense stellar configuration. But when increases, the stars shrink gradually and become less massive, turning into a more compact stellar system. For , our proposed model is therefore suitable for explaining the ultradense compact stars well within the observational limits; for , it allows representing the recent massive pulsars and super-Chandrasekhar stars. 8. Theoretical Prediction of Presupernova Neutrinos and Their Detection.

Abstract

More than 30 years have passed since the successful detection of supernova (SN) neutrinos from SN 1987A. In the last few decades, remarkable progress has been made in neutrino detection techniques, through which it may be possible to detect neutrinos from a new source, presupernova (pre-SN) neutrinos. They are emitted from a massive star prior to core bounce. Because neutrinos escape from the core freely, they carry information about the stellar physics directly. Pre-SN neutrinos may play an important role in verifying our understanding of stellar evolution for massive stars. Observation of pre-SN neutrinos, moreover, may serve as an alarm regarding an SN explosion a few days in advance if the progenitor is located in our vicinity, enabling us to observe the next galactic SN. Abstract

[W60]B90 is a red supergiant in the Large Magellanic Cloud with a luminosity close to the Humphreys-Davidson limit that exhibits a nebular structure in its vicinity. In this work, we search for evidence of shocked material around the star and nebular bar and whether this structure could be related to an unresolved bow shock. As a consequence [W60]B90 would turn into the 1st extragalactic RSG with a bow shock.
