The use of synthesized sex pheromone lures for the purpose of monitoring populations of webbing clothes moth, Tineola bisselliella (Hummel) in museum storage environments is typical in many museums. Questions about whether the pheromone incorporated in the dispensing lures could possibly transfer over to textiles that are in close proximity to the lures have been posed by museum conservators. Although some textiles may be naturally attractive to clothes moths, the concerns are that the textiles themselves may become even more attractive to insects due to exposure to the pheromone and that this could ultimately cause further damage to the collections. The focus of this study was to determine the degree to which textiles that have been exposed to pheromone lures absorb the pheromone and become attractive themselves. Based on the results of this study, the textiles observed here have little to no additional attraction to insect pests after focused exposure to synthetic pheromone lures over a two-week period.

Romania is currently facing a lot of challenges in the public administration (PA) field. In this paper, we are going to show how the European Union Services Directive implementation impacted the Romanian PA reform process by achieving one major objective: the implementation of a Point of Single Contact (PSC) in Romania. We started this quest by identifying and conducting an analysis of the existing administrative framework within the Romanian Trade Register Office (TRO), as part of the EUSDRO project. We developed a model for the TRO front and back office administrative processes. Our findings suggest that although progress has been made there are still several drawbacks associated with the administrative process, within the Romanian TRO. The IT implementation of the EU's Services Directive contributes to the goal of creating the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economic region in the world by the year 2009. Modernizing public administration is the basis for implementation of the EU directive, and in order to ensure this successfully, collaborative procedures between administrative institutions and countries must be put in place and further developed. This paper will present the concept of points of single contact, cover topics such as the vision for these points in relation to the EU Services Directive, some technical design options and an analysis of necessary requirements for an architectural framework that takes into consideration the specific e-Government background of Romania.
