Aim: To explore the impact and interrelated pathway of work environment, career adaptability, and social support on the transition process and outcomes among new nurses. Background: The transition issue affecting new nurses has been discussed for many decades. However, the exact interplay of various factors influencing the transition process and outcomes needs further exploration. Methods: A cross‐sectional, descriptive survey design was employed, and a convenient sample of 1628 new nurses from 22 tertiary hospitals in China was surveyed between November 2018 and October 2019. Mediation model analysis was used to analyze the data, and the STROBE checklist was used to report the study. Findings: The transition status mediated the effects of work environment, career adaptability and social support, and had a significantly positive influence on their intention to remain and job satisfaction. Among the influencing factors, the work environment had the most significant positive impact on both the intention to remain and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Work environment was found to be the most significant factor affecting both the transition status and outcomes of new nurses. The transition status played an important mediating role between the influencing factors and the transition outcomes, whereas career adaptability was found to mediate the impact of social support and work environment in the transition process. Implications for nursing and nursing policies: The results underscore the critical role of the work environment and demonstrate the mediating effects of transition status and career adaptability in the transition process of new nurses. Therefore, dynamic evaluation of the transition status should serve as the foundation for developing targeted supportive interventions. Spectroscopic detection of radiocarbon dioxide (14CO2) offers several advantages, including real‐time detection, on‐site measurement capability, and ease of operation. Here, we propose a novel 14CO2 detection technique that utilizes optical feedback linear cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy. The feedback phase is actively compensated by adjusting the light path length. The combination of cavity‐based technique and optical feedback enables the recording of stable and enhanced 14CO2 spectra. Through Allan deviation analysis, a minimal detectable 14CO2 concentration of 3.5 parts‐per‐trillion is achieved. L-cysteine, a component of the symmetric L-cystine, is essential in numerous biological activities. Thus, detecting cysteine rapidly, selectively, and sensitively is of tremendous interest. Herein, g-C3N4@CdS composites were employed as sensing elements in a photoelectrochemical platform for L-cysteine sensing. In this system, g-C3N4@CdS composites provided much better optoelectronic function than bare CdS materials owing to their high photon-to-current conversion efficiency and excellent anti-photocorrosion properties. The innovative photoelectrochemical sensor has a wide determination range of 5 to 190 µM, a very low detection limit of 1.56 µM, a fast response time, and good long-term stability (ca. 1 month). Without applying any separation procedures, a low concentration of CySH was successfully detected in human urine samples, which is compatible with the results of chemiluminescence. Developing earth-abundant electrocatalysts useful for hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) is critical for electrocatalytic water splitting driven by renewable energy. Molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) with the crystal structure of hexagonal symmetry has been identified to be an excellent HER catalyst due to its platinum-like electronic structure while the synthesis of Mo2C is generally time consuming and energy intensive. Herein, we demonstrated the ultrafast synthesis of a Mo2C-based electrocatalyst with Joule heating at 1473 K for only 6 s. Benefitting from several advantages including efficient catalytic kinetics, enhanced charge transport kinetics and high intrinsic activity, the as-prepared catalyst exhibited drastically enhanced HER performance compared with commercial Mo2C. It showed an overpotential of 288 mV for achieving a current density of −50 mA cm−2 and good stability, which highlighted the feasibility of the Joule heating method towards preparing efficient electrocatalysts.
