Het Ministerie van LNV heeft gevraagd om inzicht te krijgen in (1) het aantal veehouderijlocaties gelegen op de volgende grondsoorten: beekdalen, (hoge) zandgronden of veen- en moerige gronden, en (2) hoeveel locaties daarvan voldoen aan de criteria i) een uitstoot van minimaal 250 kg NH3/j voor de diergroepen melkvee/rundvee óf ii) minimaal 750 kg NH3/j voor de overige diergroepen.

Eerder dit jaar is het rapport ‘Analyse ontwikkeling stikstofemissie en -depositie’ (RIVM-briefrapport 2024-0007) door het RIVM opgeleverd. De op dat moment meest actuele kennis en ontwikkelingen van stikstofemissies en -depositie zijn hierin op een rij gezet. Dit op verzoek van het ministerie van LVVN ter voorbereiding op de rechtszaak die Greenpeace heeft aangespannen tegen de Nederlandse staat. Recentelijk zijn de cijfers over stikstofemissie- en depositie geactualiseerd. Het gaat hierbij om de resultaten uit de rapportage ‘Monitor stikstofdepositie in Natura 2000-gebieden 2024’ (RIVM-rapport 2024-0076, hierna: Monitor 2024). Het ministerie van LVVN heeft gevraagd om de inzichten hieruit samen te vatten. Jaarlijks wijzigen de cijfers over stikstofdepositie, omdat nieuwe gegevens en inzichten beschikbaar komen en verbeteringen in het rekenmodel worden doorgevoerd. De recente wijzigingen hebben geen effect op de eerder gepresenteerde conclusies. Daarnaast is de lijst met urgente en zeer urgente habitats recentelijk geactualiseerd (zie ‘Herstelbaarheid van door stikstofdepositie aangetaste Natura 2000-habitats - Update urgentietabel 2023’ van Bobbink en Tomassen). Het ministerie van LVVN heeft gevraagd om de geactualiseerde urgentietabel te verwerken in de analyse van de benodigde depositiereductie van (zeer) urgente habitats. Deze kennisnotitie beschrijft de geactualiseerde cijfers en de verschillen met het rapport ‘Analyse ontwikkeling stikstofemissie en -depositie’, RIVM-briefrapport 2024-0007.

Greenpeace Nederland eist dat de natuur in Nederland beter beschermd wordt tegen de negatieve effecten van stikstofdepositie. Daarvoor heeft het de Nederlandse staat in juli 2023 gedagvaard. Greenpeace heeft hiervoor als element in de rechtszaak de urgentielijst ingebracht: het beschermen van de staat van instandhouding van de (zeer) urgente habitats en leefgebieden uit het rapport “Herstelbaarheid van door stikstofdepositie aangetaste Natura 2000-habitattypen - Update urgentietabel 2023” van Bobbink en Tomassen. Eerder rekende RIVM al uit wat de benodigde emissiereducties zijn om voor 100 procent van het oppervlak van deze (zeer) urgente habitattypen en leefgebieden de stikstofdepositie onder de Kritische depositiewaarde (KDW) te krijgen. Deze notitie beantwoordt de recente vraag van LVVN naar aanleiding van een verzoek aan de rechtbank vanuit Greenpeace welke extra emissiereductie vanuit Nederland er nodig is om niet in 100 procent maar in een geringer aandeel van de (zeer) urgente habitattypen en leefgebieden de depositie onder de KDW te krijgen.

Dit rapport geeft op verzoek van het ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselveiligheid (LNV) een actueel overzicht van de bij het RIVM aanwezige kennis op het gebied van de uitstoot en depositie van stikstof vanaf 1900 tot heden, het gevoerde stikstofbeleid en de verwachtingen hiervan voor de toekomst (tot 2040). En de mate van overschrijding van de kritische depositiewaarde voor de stikstofgevoelig natuur binnen de Natura 2000-gebieden. Het geeft daarnaast ook een overzicht van de bestaande meetsystemen in Nederland voor ammoniak en stikstofoxiden.

Publicatie met daarin de door het Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM) gevalideerde stikstofberekeningen van het ministerie van Financiën over het doelmatig en doeltreffend behalen van de stikstofdoelstellingen.

De Nederlandse overheid wil de kwaliteit van de natuur herstellen in gebieden die gevoelig zijn voor stikstof. In de Wet stikstofreductie en natuurverbetering (Wsn) staat dat er op minimaal 74 procent van de stikstofgevoelige natuur in Natura 2000-gebieden niet te veel stikstof mag neerslaan in 2035. Om dit wettelijke doel te halen is in 2022 met de provincies het Nationaal Programma Landelijk Gebied (NPLG) opgesteld. Het NPLG geeft onder andere aan hoeveel de uitstoot van stikstof per provincie moet dalen. Het RIVM berekende in 2021 voor het eerst hoeveel minder stikstof de landbouw moet uitstoten om het wettelijke doel te halen. Het deed dat op verzoek van het ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit (LNV). Volgens deze berekening kon het doel worden gehaald als de landbouw 40 procent minder ammoniak uitstoot in 2035. Sindsdien zijn naar aanleiding van Europees onderzoek de normen voor stikstofdepositie (de KDW: kritische depositiewaarde) strenger geworden. Daarnaast zijn de wetenschappelijke inzichten over de uitstoot en neerslag van stikstof veranderd. Elk jaar worden namelijk de nieuwste gegevens over onder andere de uitstoot en metingen van stikstof gebruikt voor de berekeningen. Het RIVM heeft met al deze nieuwe inzichten berekend in hoeverre het wettelijke stikstofdoel wordt gehaald als de doelen van het NPLG worden bereikt. Berekend met de nieuwste inzichten wordt meer natuur met te veel stikstof belast dan in 2021 was berekend. In slechts 40 procent van de kwetsbare natuur wordt in 2035 de norm voor stikstof gehaald met de in het NPLG opgenomen gewenste daling in de provincies. Met deze daling zal het teveel aan stikstof dat op de natuur neerslaat wel veel lager (67 procent) zijn dan in 2021. Item does not contain fulltext, Tocilizumab and sarilumab are IL-6-receptor antagonists registered for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with equal effectiveness and safety. Switching from tocilizumab to sarilumab could be a strategy to reduce injection burden, in case of drug shortages, and to reduce costs. This study therefore aims to investigate the effectiveness and safety of switching patients with RA with well-controlled disease under tocilizumab treatment to sarilumab. Patients with RA with low Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28;-CRP < 2.9 or < 3.5 with clinical judgment), on stable dose tocilizumab (> 6 months) were offered to switch to sarilumab. Patients who switched and consented were followed for 6 months. Sarilumab was started at 200 mg and double the last tocilizumab interval. Co-primary outcomes at 6 months were (i) the 90% confidence interval (CI) of DAS28-CRP change from baseline compared with the non-inferiority margin of 0.6 and (ii) the 90% CI of the proportion of patients persisting with sarilumab, compared with a prespecified minimum of 70%. Of 50 invited patients, 25 agreed to switch to sarilumab, and 23 patients switched and were included. One patient was lost to follow-up immediately after inclusion, therefore 22 patients are included in the analyses. At 6 months, mean change in DAS28-CRP was 0.48 (90% CI: 0.11-0.87), compared with the non-inferiority margin of 0.6. Sarilumab persistence was 68% (90% CI: 51-82%, 15 out of 22 patients), compared with the prespecified minimum of 70%. Non-medical switching from tocilizumab to sarilumab in patients doing well on tocilizumab failed to show non-inferiority regarding disease activity and drug persistence.

Het Ministerie van LNV heeft gevraagd om inzicht in de effecten van een aanpassing van de Rav-factoren (Regeling ammoniak en veehouderij) voor enkele diercategorieën. Aan de hand van de aangepaste emissies is een nieuwe depositievracht berekend voor de agrarische bedrijfslocaties. Vervolgens is de nieuwe depositievracht vergeleken met de drempelwaarde om in aanmerking te komen voor de Lbv of voor de Lbv-plus regeling. Voor de Lbv-regeling komen 532 (+5%) extra bedrijven boven de drempelwaarde. De totale emissie voor alle bedrijven die in aanmerking komen stijgt met 3%. Voor de Lbv-plus (landelijke top 3000) komen 280 (+9%) extra bedrijven boven de drempelwaarde. De totale emissie voor alle bedrijven die in aanmerking komen stijgt met 32%.

Item does not contain fulltext, The ability to monitor and adjust our performance is crucial for adaptive behaviour, a key component of human cognitive control. One widely studied metric of this behaviour is post-error slowing (PES), the finding that humans tend to slow down their performance after making an error. This study is a first attempt at generalizing the effect of PES to an online adaptive learning environment where children practise mathematics and language skills. This population was of particular interest since the major development of error processing occurs during childhood. Eight million response patterns were collected from 150,000 users aged 5 to 13 years old for 6 months, across 23 different learning activities. PES could be observed in most learning activities and greater PES was associated with greater post-error accuracy. PES also varied as a function of several variables. At the task level, PES was greater when there was less time pressure, when errors were slower, and in learning activities focusing on mathematical rather than language skills. At the individual level, students who chose the most difficult level to practise and had higher skill ability also showed greater PES. Finally, non-linear developmental differences in error processing were found, where the PES magnitude increased from 6 to 9-years-old and decreased from 9 to 13. This study shows that PES underlies adaptive behaviour in an educational context for primary school students.

In the broadest of these ways, often denoted the network approach, the researcher views a substantive phenomenon through the lens of networks. In this case, networks mainly function to organize observations and to suggest theoretical ideas. The network approach can subsequently be specified in at least two ways. First, by constructing psychometric network models, which formulate a probability distribution for a set of observations, typically by representing variables as nodes and conditional associations between these variables as edges. Second, by constructing network theories, which offer putative explanations of empirical phenomena. Thus, where network theories are tied to a particular empirical domain, network models are generic, i.e., independent of any particular domain. Finally, the chapter discusses ways in which the relation between network approaches, network theories, and network models can be understood.

Contains fulltext : 285184.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access), In this study, we investigated which spelling cues are used in word-medial consonant spelling by learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Previous research has shown that native speakers of English rely on different cues to decide whether a single ("diner") or double consonant ("dinner") needs to be used in word-medial consonant spelling. These cues include phonology, orthography, morphology and lexical frequency. We investigated whether these cues play a similar role in Dutch spellers who are EFL learners, next to similarity of the English target to Dutch. We analyzed dictation task data that was part of an unsupervised digital learning environment for EFL learning. The error analyses revealed that novice EFL spellers mainly used phonological and cross-linguistic cues in consonant doubling. In contrast, more proficient spellers relied less on phonological cues, and relied on morphological cues instead. The EFL spellers did not rely on orthographic cues. Furthermore, spelling difficulty was influenced by the frequency of a word and its similarity with the native-language equivalent, in terms of cognate status (non-cognate/cognate) and consonant doubling. Together, our findings indicate that a higher number of converging cues facilitates spelling for EFL spellers and that their reliance on cues changes as spelling proficiency increases.

METHODS: A global case-based online survey was conducted including 41 image-based rectal cancer cases focusing on various items included in the TNM system. Cases reaching < 80% agreement among survey respondents were identified as problem areas and discussed among an international expert panel, including 5 radiologists, 6 colorectal surgeons, 4 radiation oncologists, and 3 pathologists. RESULTS: Three hundred twenty-one respondents (from 32 countries) completed the survey. Sixteen problem areas were identified, related to cT staging in low-rectal cancers, definitions for cT4b and cM1a disease, definitions for mesorectal fascia (MRF) involvement, evaluation of lymph nodes versus tumor deposits, and staging of lateral lymph nodes. The expert panel recommended strategies on how to handle these, including advice on cT-stage categorization in case of involvement of different layers of the anal canal, specifications on which structures to include in the definition of cT4b disease, how to define MRF involvement by the primary tumor and other tumor-bearing structures, how to differentiate and report lymph nodes and tumor deposits on MRI, and how to anatomically localize and stage lateral lymph nodes. CONCLUSIONS: The recommendations derived from this global survey and expert panel discussion may serve as a practice guide and support tool for radiologists (and other clinicians) involved in the staging of rectal cancer and may contribute to improved consistency in radiological staging and reporting. Dit rapport beschrijft de resultaten van een inventarisatie van innovatieve teeltconcepten voor verschillende land -en tuinbouwsectoren die is uitgevoerd door WUR-experts in samenwerking met sectorvertegenwoordigers. Teeltconcepten, d.w.z. de inrichting van een teeltsysteem in de tijd en ruimte waardoor ziekten, plagen en onkruiddruk kunnen worden verminderd, worden gezien als één van de componenten van weerbare teeltsystemen. De geïnventariseerde teeltconcepten in dit rapport kunnen een rol spelen in de verdere ontwikkeling van weerbare teeltsystemen en bieden een handelingsperspectief voor de verschillende land- en tuinbouwsectoren in Nederland.

Zowel Europees als landelijk zijn doelstellingen geformuleerd om het gebruik en emissie van bestrijdingsmiddelen te reduceren. Zo bestaat vanuit de Green Deal van de Europese Unie de visie dat de inzet van chemische bestrijdingsmiddelen in de landbouw met 50% wordt verminderd in 2030 De provincie Fryslân ondersteunt deze visie en wil de vermindering van het gebruik van bestrijdingsmiddelen faciliteren. De provincie heeft hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein en CLM Onderzoek en advies BV gevraagd om via onderzoek een strategisch advies op te stellen m.b.t. handelingsperspectief van de provincie om het middelengebruik, en daarmee de emissie, terug te dringen. Ten behoeve van dat advies is in deze studie allereerst is het huidige gebruik van bestrijdingsmiddelen door verschillende groepen (landbouw, hoveniers, particulieren, overheden, Prorail) in Fryslân geïnventariseerd. Ook is gekeken naar de effecten van het middelengebruik op het milieu, met name de kwaliteit van grond- en oppervlaktewater. Vervolgens is geïnventariseerd welke mogelijkheden er zijn om het gebruik te reduceren en wat het draagvlak van deze alternatieve maatregelen is bij met name vertegenwoordigers uit de landbouw. Daarnaast is een overzicht gemaakt van ontwikkelingen in monitoring en onderzoek, ten behoeve van (toekomstig) zicht op (trends in) gebruik en emissie. Op grond van de resultaten zijn tenslotte kansrijke handelingsperspectieven voor de provincie beschreven om het middelengebruik bij verschillende doelgroepen terug te dringen. Hierbij zijn wederom de verschillende gebruikersgroepen onderscheiden: overheden, de land- en tuinbouw, , (hoveniers)bedrijven, (groot)grondbezitters en particulieren.

Hittestress is net als droogte en wateroverlast een belangrijke uitdaging in klimaatadaptatie. Onderzoek met publieke en particuliere partijen, door vijf hogescholen in tien wijken, heeft geresulteerd in nieuwe kennis over meten, beleven en doen ten aanzien van klimaatadaptie in de wijk. Zo blijkt ook uit dit onderzoek dat het hitte-eilandeffect ongeveer met 0,5 graden afneemt wanneer er 10 procent meer groen wordt gerealiseerd. Klimaatadaptatie blijkt nog beperkt te leven onder inwoners en er is nog weinig bereidheid om zelf initiatief te nemen. Toch eindigde dit onderzoek met honderden concrete oplossingen.

However, it remains unclear whether WTI can be trained in seventh grade ESL learners, who often struggle with reading comprehension and display large individual differences. To pay attention to individual differences, the present study examined an adaptive computer game-based WTI-intervention. The intervention, replacing 50 minutes of ESL classroom instruction, comprized a 12-week program in which students had to complete WTI-based assignments within four serious games, targeting morphosyntactic awareness, translation of words within sentences, recognizing idioms from words in contexts, and a filler game targeting dictation. The intervention group (n=164) was compared to a control group (n= 166), who only received regular ESL classroom instruction. Both groups completed the following reading measures: decoding, morphological, and syntactic awareness, WTI (argument and anomaly reading speed and processing), and reading comprehension tasks at the beginning (T1) of the school year and at the end (T2) of the school year. Results demonstrated an intervention effect on decoding and anomaly processing as reflected by an interaction between time (T1 vs. T2) and group (intervention vs. control) in a repeated measures MANOVA. Follow-up mediation analyses for the intervention group only - with game performance as mediators between reading measures at T1 and T2 - indicated that students with better T1 scores on reading measures showed more growth in performance within games. More performance growth within the translation game and the idiom recognition game was related to better reading scores at T2. Het debat over de schuldvraag van de Eerste Wereldoorlog is een lang slepende kwestie. Keizer Wilhelm II werd in de Vrede van Versailles aangewezen als (een van de) hoofdschuldige en dat beeld is bij veel mensen blijven hangen. In de monumentale biografie van John C.G. Röhl wordt Wilhelms rol uitgediept. Ook Röhl komt tot de conclusie dat Wilhelm II de hoofdschuldige is van het uitbreken van de oorlog. Met zijn biografie over Wilhelm II wil Christopher Clark een alternatieve visie geven op Wilhelm II en zijn rol bij het uitbreken van de oorlog. In deze scriptie zullen de biografieën van Röhl en Clark en het dagboek van Sigurd von Ilsemann behandeld worden. Uit de biografieën van Röhl en Clark zijn karaktereigenschappen van Wilhelm II gehaald die een rol hebben gespeeld bij zijn politieke beleid. Het dagboek van Von Ilsemann zal onderzocht worden aan de hand van deze twee karaktereigenschappen. Daaruit zal een conclusie worden getrokken of Von Ilsemanns beschrijving overeenkomt met het beeld dat door de biografen geschetst wordt en wat dat betekent voor Wilhelms rol bij het uitbreken van de oorlog.

Item does not contain fulltext, While response time and accuracy indicate overall performance, their value in uncovering cognitive processes, underlying learning, is limited. A promising online measure, designed to track decision-making, is computer mouse tracking, where mouse attraction towards different locations may reflect the consideration of alternative response options. Using a speedy arithmetic multiple-choice game in an online adaptive learning environment, we examined whether mouse movements could reflect arithmetic difficulties when error rates are low. Results showed that mouse movements towards alternative responses in correctly answered questions mapped onto the frequency of errors made in this online learning system. This mapping was stronger for the younger children, as well as for easy arithmetic problems. On an individual level, users showed more mouse movement towards their previously made response errors than towards other alternative options. This opens the possibility of adapting feedback and instruction on an individual basis through mouse tracking.

Ten behoeve van beeldvorming m.b.t. de aanwezigheid van diergeneesmiddelen in oppervlaktewater en (ondiep) grondwater, zijn door WON in 2019 en 2020 meetcampagnes uitgevoerd. In totaal zijn daarbij 50 monsters geanalyseerd op (dier)geneesmiddelen, afkomstig van 8 grondwaterlocaties en 17 oppervlaktewaterlocaties in Noord Nederland.

Klimaatverandering leidt steeds vaker tot overschrijding van acceptatiegrenzen voor neerslag, hitte en droogte. Het creëren van een klimaatbestendige inrichting in samenwerking met bewoners is essentieel voor gemeenten en waterschappen. Bewoners voelen zich vaak betrokken bij de inrichting van hun straat, en richten hun tuin in op een manier die bij hun leefstijl past. In de 10 onderzochte wijken beslaan tuinen ongeveer 10-40% van het stedelijk oppervlak. Hoe kunnen professionals van gemeenten en waterschappen met inzet van burgers klimaatadaptatie in stedelijk gebied in praktijk brengen? Het doel van dit onderzoek is om een praktisch toepasbare werkwijze te ontwikkelen voor ‘burgerparticipatie in klimaatadaptatie’.

METHODS: Data from the international prospective pan-European cohort study, Collaborative European NeuroTrauma Effectiveness Research for TBI (CENTER-TBI), were used (n=4509). For prehospital intubation, we excluded self-presenters. For in-hospital intubation, patients whose tracheas were intubated on-scene were excluded. The association between intubation and outcome was analysed with ordinal regression with adjustment for the International Mission for Prognosis and Analysis of Clinical Trials in TBI variables and extracranial injury. We assessed whether the effect of intubation varied by injury severity by testing the added value of an interaction term with likelihood ratio tests. RESULTS: In the prehospital analysis, 890/3736 (24%) patients had their tracheas intubated at scene. In the in-hospital analysis, 460/2930 (16%) patients had their tracheas intubated in the emergency department. There was no adjusted overall effect on functional outcome of prehospital intubation (odds ratio=1.01; 95% confidence interval, 0.79-1.28; P=0.96), and the adjusted overall effect of in-hospital intubation was not significant (odds ratio=0.86; 95% confidence interval, 0.65-1.13; P=0.28). However, prehospital intubation was associated with better functional outcome in patients with higher thorax and abdominal Abbreviated Injury Scale scores (P=0.009 and P=0.02, respectively), whereas in-hospital intubation was associated with better outcome in patients with lower Glasgow Coma Scale scores (P=0.01): in-hospital intubation was associated with better functional outcome in patients with Glasgow Coma Scale scores of 10 or lower. However, preliminary data suggest that anti-adalimumab antibodies (anti-drug antibodies, ADA) and adalimumab serum levels (ADL) during treatment predict response to a TNFi as subsequent treatment. OBJECTIVE: To validate the association of presence of ADA and/or low ADL with response to a subsequent TNFi bDMARD or non-TNFi bDMARD. Sub-analyses were performed for primary and secondary non-responders. METHODS: A diagnostic test accuracy retrospective cohort study was done in consenting RA patients who discontinued adalimumab after >3 months of treatment due to inefficacy and started another bDMARD. Inclusion criteria included the availability of (random timed) serum samples between ≥8 weeks after start and ≤2 weeks after discontinuation of adalimumab, and clinical outcome measurements Disease Activity Score in 28 joints - C-reactive protein (DAS28-CRP) between 3 to 6 months after treatment switch. Test characteristics for EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism) good response (DAS28-CRP based) after treatment with the next (non-)TNFi bDMARD were assessed using area under the receiver operating characteristic and sensitivity/specificity. RESULTS: 137 patients were included. ADA presence was not predictive for response in switchers to a TNFi (sensitivity/specificity 18%/75%) or a non-TNFi (sensitivity/specificity 33%/70%). The same was true for ADL levels in patients that switched to a TNFi (sensitivity/specificity 50%/52%) and patients that switched to a non-TNFi (sensitivity/specificity 32%/69%). With the rising interest in and representation of LGBTQ+ people, more gender nonconforming picture books are being published and are gaining in popularity. Studies of older gender nonconforming picture books have offered critique on the representations present in those picture books. In this paper the representation of gender nonconforming characters in three recently published (2018 and 2019) picture books will be discussed in relation to the critique given on those earlier gender nonconforming picture books. This is done to see if the three picture books discussed here, Julian is a Mermaid, Prinses Kevin, and A House for Everyone succeeded in bringing something new to the genre of gender nonconforming picture books. The interaction between picture and text is examined and a close reading analysis with a focus on gender is performed for each book in order to assess this. This thesis concludes that all three books, despite some still perpetuating a few issues that were found in previous gender nonconforming picture books, do add new valuable representation to the genre.

This thesis centres around early (eight-sixth century BC) Athenian and Attic state formation by focussing on the relations between Athens and another Attic locality that would occupy an important religious role within the Classical Athenian polis: Eleusis. The research question that is answered is the following: ‘When did the Athenian polis incorporate Eleusis, and how did this unification come about’? In summary, it is argued that Athenian-Eleusinian religious integration (starting in the seventh century BC) preceded a political unification at the end of the sixth century BC, when Eleusis became an Athenian deme. The first half of the thesis is devoted to literary (chapter 1) and archaeological (chapter 2) scholarship on the question of the incorporation of Eleusis and the related process of the Athenian synoecism. The argumentations and sources used by previous scholars are examined, and it is determined that these sources do not reflect a simultaneous (early) political and religious incorporation, as has been posited previously. Instead, the Archaic relations between Athens and Eleusis presented in the sources can be understood better with the help of the concept of ‘peer polity interaction’. It is then argued that throughout the Archaic period the Eleusinians and Athenians interacted with each other on equal terms in the fields of warfare, elite competition, trade and – most importantly – religion, all within a shared cultural framework (that of the Attic ethnos). While (shared) cults had integrating qualities, a full political unification only took place at the end of the sixth century BC, by way of the Kleisthenic reforms of 508/7 BC. This hypothesis is elaborated upon in the second half of the thesis, in which the origins of Athenian-Eleusinian religious ties are examined. The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has set a GHG reduction target of worldwide shipping by at least 50 per cent in 2050, relative to 2008, to ensure a sustainable future for the port and maritime sector. Alternative marine fuels and innovative vessel propulsion systems play a key role in achieving this target. However, there is a global uncertainty about the future dominant alternative fuel(s). This makes it difficult for Port of Amsterdam and her stakeholders to determine a business development strategy regarding fuel supply chains, bunkering facilities and vessel propulsion systems. This research identifies the most promising alternative marine fuels via multi-criteria analysis. The assessment aims at alternative fuels for coastal vessels in the year 2030 and beyond. Included alternative fuels are biodiesel (HVO), bio LNG, bio methanol, compressed hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, e-methanol and sodium borohydride.
