The second Gaia data release (Gaia DR2) provided us with the precise five-parameter astrometry for 1.3 billion of sources. As stars passing close to the Solar System are thought to be responsible for influencing the dynamical history of long period comets, we update and extend the list of stars that could potentially perturb motion of these comets. We aim to announce a publicly available database containing an up to date list of stars and stellar systems potentially perturbing long period comets motion. We add new objects and revise previously published lists. Special emphasis was placed on stellar systems. Discussion on masses estimation is included. Using the astrometry, preferably from Gaia DR2, augmented with data from other sources, we calculate spatial positions and velocities for each star. To filter studied objects on the basis of their minimal heliocentric distances we numerically integrate motion of stars under the Galactic potential and their mutual interactions. We announce the updated list of stellar perturbers of cometary motion, including masses of perturbers along with the publicly available database interface. These data are ready to be used with the observed long period comets orbits to study an individual influence of a whole sample of perturbers, or specific stars, on a dynamical past or future of a specific comet. 147 new perturbers were added in comparison to the previously published sources. We demonstrate that a new set of potential perturbers constitute an important tool in studies of cometary dynamics. The usage of our data significantly changes results of the past and future comet motion analysis. We point out a puzzling object in our list, star ALS 9243. The Gaia DR2 astrometry suggests a very close encounter of this star with the Sun however, its astrophysical parameters result in a completely different current distance of ALS 9243 and its large mass., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Astronomy and Astrophysics

Physical studies of asteroids depend on an availability of lightcurve data. Targets that are easy to observe and analyse naturally have more data available, so their synodic periods are confirmed from multiple sources. Also, thanks to availability of data from a number of apparitions, their spin and shape models can often be obtained. Almost half of bright (H12 hours) and are rarely chosen for photometric observations. There is a similar selection effect against asteroids with low lightcurve amplitudes (a_max, Published in Planetary and Space Science. 13 pages, 20 figures

We have analysed high-resolution spectra of 28 A and 22 F stars in the Kepler field, observed with the FIES spectrograph at the Nordic Optical Telescope. We provide spectral types, atmospheric parameters and chemical abundances for 50 stars. Balmer, Fe I, and Fe II lines were used to derive effective temperatures, surface gravities, and microturbulent velocities. We determined chemical abundances and projected rotational velocities using a spectrum synthesis technique. Effective temperatures calculated by spectral energy distribution fitting are in good agreement with those determined from the spectral line analysis. The stars analysed include chemically peculiar stars of the Am and Lambda Boo types, as well as stars with approximately solar chemical abundances. The wide distribution of projected rotational velocity, Vsini, is typical for A and F stars. The microturbulence velocities obtained are typical for stars in the observed temperature and surface gravity ranges. Moreover, we affirm the results of Niemczura et al., that Am stars do not have systematically higher microturbulent velocities than normal stars of the same temperature., 21 pages, 8 figures, 4 tables

$\delta$ Scuti stars are remarkable objects for asteroseismology. In spite of decades of investigations, there are still important questions about these pulsating stars to be answered, such as their positions in $\log$$T_{\rm eff}$ $-$ $\log g$ diagram, or the dependence of the pulsation modes on atmospheric parameters and rotation. Therefore, we performed a detailed spectroscopic study of $41$ $\delta$ Scuti stars. The selected objects are located near the $\gamma$ Doradus instability strip to make a reliable comparison between both types of variables. Spectral classification, stellar atmospheric parameters ($T_{\rm eff}$, $\log g$, $\xi$) and $v \sin i$ values were determined. The spectral types and luminosity classes of stars were found to be A1$-$F5 and III$-$V, respectively. The $T_{\rm eff}$ ranges from $6600$ to $9400$ K, whereas the obtained $\log g$ values are from $3.4$ to $4.3$. The $v \sin i$ values were found between $10$ and $222$ km s$^{-1}$. The derived chemical abundances of $\delta$ Scuti stars were compared to those of the non-pulsating stars and $\gamma$ Doradus variables. It turned out that both $\delta$ Scuti and $\gamma$ Doradus variables have similar abundance patterns, which are slightly different from the non-pulsating stars. These chemical differences can help us to understand why there are non-pulsating stars in classical instability strip. Effects of the obtained parameters on pulsation period and amplitude were examined. It appears that the pulsation period decreases with increasing $T_{\rm eff}$. We present a new non-convex model of the 90 Antiope binary asteroid, derived with a modified version of the SAGE (Shaping Asteroids with Genetic Evolution) method using disk-integrated photometry only. A new variant of the SAGE algorithm capable of deriving models of binary systems is described. The model of 90 Antiope confirms the system's pole solution ($\lambda=199^{\circ}$, $\beta=38^{\circ}$, $\sigma=\pm5^{\circ}$) and the orbital period ($16.505046 \pm 0.000005$ h). A comparison between the stellar occultation chords obtained during the 2011 occultation and the projected shape solution has been used to scale the model. The resulting scaled model allowed us to obtain the equivalent radii ($R_{1}=40.4\pm0.9$ km and $R_{2}=40.2\pm0.9$ km) and the distance between the two system components ($176\pm4$ km), leading to a total system mass of ($9.14\pm0.62$)$\cdot10^{17}$ kg. The non-convex shape description of the components permitted a refined calculation of the components' volumes, leading to a density estimation of $1.67\pm0.23$ g cm$^{-3}$. The intermediate-scale features of the model may also offer new clues on the components' origin and evolution.

International audience; CCD photometry of 809 Lundia obtained between September 2005 and January 2006 at Borowiec and Pic du Midi Observatories demonstrates that this object is a synchronous binary system with an orbital period of 15.418 ± 0.001 h. In this paper, we present the results of photometric observations of Lundia from two oppositions in 2005/2006 and 2007, as well as the first modelling of the system. For simplicity we assumed a fluid-like nature for each component with a modified Roche model and a triaxial ellipsoid shape in kinematic models. Our models provided similar results. Poles of the orbit in ecliptic coordinates are lambda = 119 ± 2°, beta = 28 ± 4° (modified Roche) or lambda = 120 ± 5°, beta = 18 ± 12° (kinematic). Triaxial ellipsoid shape solutions and a separation between components of 15.8 km are given after taking an equivalent diameter of 9.1 km from H = 11.8 mag and assuming an albedo of 0.4. The orbital period of the Lundia system obtained from modelling is the same as from the lightcurve analysis i.e., 15.418 ± 0.001 h. The bulk density of both components is 1.64 or 1.71 ± 0.01 g/cm^3. The double system of Lundia probably originates from the fission process of a single body that could have been spun up by the YORP effect. The predicted lightcurves for future oppositions are also presented.

We present a set of new photometric observations of three main belt asteroids: 160 Una, 747 Winchester, and 849 Ara. This, combined with the available data, allowed us to construct their physical models. The lightcurve inversion method was used to obtain their spins and shapes. We have resolved problems with the rotation period of 160 Una, and found it to be 11.033176 ± 0.000011 h, almost twice the value given in the literature.

In 2007, the M-type binary asteroid 22 Kalliope reached one of its annual equinoxes. As a consequence, the orbit plane of its small moon, Linus, was aligned closely to the Sun's line of sight, giving rise to a mutual eclipse season. A dedicated international campaign of photometric observations, based on amateur-professional collaboration, was organized and coordinated by the IMCCE in order to catch several of these events. The set of the compiled observations is released in this work. We developed a relevant model of these events, including a topographic shape model of Kalliope refined in the present work, the orbit solution of Linus as well as the photometric effect of the shadow of one component falling on the other. By fitting this model to the only two full recorded events, we derived a new estimation of the equivalent diameter of Kalliope of 166.2+/-2.8km, 8% smaller than its IRAS diameter. As to the diameter of Linus, considered as purely spherical, it is estimated to 28+/-2 km. This substantial "shortening" of Kalliope gives a bulk density of 3.35+/-0.33g/cm3, significantly higher than past determinations but more consistent with its taxonomic type. We present photometric observations of three asteroids: 73 Klytia, 377 Campania, and 378 Holmia, together with their spin and shape models. The models were constructed with the lightcurve inversion method, using all available lightcurves of these objects. In the case of Campania, the long persisting doubts about its rotational period have been resolved. Various authors state periods between 8.48 and 16 h, while the period we determined is 11.664401 ± 0.000010 h.

Asteroid (234) Barbara is the prototype of a category of asteroids that has been shown to be extremely rich in refractory inclusions, the oldest material ever found in the Solar System. It exhibits several peculiar features, most notably its polarimetric behavior. In recent years other objects sharing the same property (collectively known as "Barbarians") have been discovered. Interferometric observations in the mid-infrared with the ESO VLTI suggested that (234) Barbara might have a bi-lobated shape or even a large companion satellite. We use a large set of 57 optical lightcurves acquired between 1979 and 2014, together with the timings of two stellar occultations in 2009, to determine the rotation period, spin-vector coordinates, and 3-D shape of (234) Barbara, using two different shape reconstruction algorithms. By using the lightcurves combined to the results obtained from stellar occultations, we are able to show that the shape of (234) Barbara exhibits large concave areas. Possible links of the shape to the polarimetric properties and the object evolution are discussed. Photometric observations of 283 Emma (1998, 2000, 2001, 2004), 665 Sabine (1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005), and 690 Wratislavia (1998, 2000, 2004, 2005-2006) carried out on 44 nights at two observatories are presented. Using all available lightcurves, the spin vectors, senses of rotation, and shape models for these three asteroids have been determined.

Context. The shapes and spin states of asteroids observed with photometric techniques can be reconstructed using the lightcurve inversion method. The resultant models can then be confirmed or exploited further by other techniques, such as adaptive optics, radar, thermal infrared, stellar occultations, or space probe imaging.Aims. During our ongoing work to increase the set of asteroids with known spin and shape parameters, there appeared a need for displaying the model plane-of-sky orientations for specific epochs to compare models from different techniques. It would also be instructive to be able to track how the complex lightcurves are produced by various asteroid shapes.Methods. Basing our analysis on an extensive photometric observational dataset, we obtained eight asteroid models with the convex lightcurve inversion method. To enable comparison of the photometric models with those from other observing/modelling techniques, we created an on-line service where we allow the inversion models to be orientated interactively.Results. Our sample of objects is quite representative, containing both relatively fast and slow rotators with highly and lowly inclined spin axes. With this work, we increase the sample of asteroid spin and shape models based on disk-integrated photometry to over 200. Three of the shape models obtained here are confirmed by the stellar occultation data; this also allowed independent determinations of their sizes to be made.Conclusions. The ISAM service can be widely exploited for past and future asteroid observations with various, complementary techniques and for asteroid dimension determination.

Aims. We determine the physical properties (spin state and shape) of asteroid (21) Lutetia, target of the ESA Rosetta mission, to help in preparing for observations during the flyby on 2010 July 10 by predicting the orientation of Lutetia as seen from Rosetta. Methods. We use our novel KOALA inversion algorithm to determine the physical properties of asteroids from a combination of optical lightcurves, disk-resolved images, and stellar occultations, although the latter are not available for (21) Lutetia. Results. We find the spin axis of (21) Lutetia to lie within 5 degrees of ({\lambda} = 52 deg., {\beta} = -6 deg.) in Ecliptic J2000 reference frame (equatorial {\alpha} = 52 deg., {\delta} = +12 deg.), and determine an improved sidereal period of 8.168 270 \pm 0.000 001 h. This pole solution implies the southern hemisphere of Lutetia will be in "seasonal" shadow at the time of the flyby. The apparent cross-section of Lutetia is triangular as seen "pole-on" and more rectangular as seen "equator-on". The best-fit model suggests the presence of several concavities. International audience; We analyze photometric observations of the three main-belt asteroids 350 Ornamenta, 771 Libera, and 984 Gretia, conducted over a twelve-year interval. Our data and those of other authors allow us to determine pole and shape models using the lightcurve inversion technique. In all three cases, a single pole solution was obtained without any significant mirror solution: Ornamenta - P = 9.180 414 h, lambdap = 184°, betap = -29° Libera - P = 5.890 423 h, lambdap = 64°, betap = -78° Gretia - P = 5.778 025 h, lambdap = 245°, betap = +52°. This analysis and the development of asteroid models increase the set of asteroids with known spin and shape parameters, which consists of only around 100 objects.

International audience; Context: Research of asteroid families has been recently refreshed by the discovery of very young ones. These families are of great interest because they represent the product of their parent body fragmentation before orbital and physical evolutionary processes can change them. A cluster of seven objects around the largest body (1270) Datura is of particular interest because it has enough known members and resides in the inner part of the main asteroid belt, facilitating observations. Aims: We carried out photometric observations of the two largest members of the Datura family - asteroids (1270) Datura and (90265) 2003 CL5 - with the goal of inferring their physical parameters. We also used numerous astrometric observations of Datura-family members in the past few years to revisit the age of this cluster. Methods: We performed numerous photometric observations of (1270) Datura over several oppositions. We then used the lightcurve inversion method to determine the spin state and shape of this asteroid. In the case of (90265) 2003 CL5, for which only limited lightcurve data have been acquired so far, we used Fourier analysis to determine the synodic rotation period during the 2008 apparition. We also used backward numerical integration of the improved orbits of Datura family members to reduce uncertainty in its age. Results: We determined the rotation state of (1270) Datura, the largest member of its own family. Its major properties are a short rotation period of ~3.36 h and small obliquity, which, however, exhibits ~±15° excursions because of a forced Cassini state of the proper nodal frequency. Any possible initial non-principal rotation state has probably been damped and the asteroid rotates about the shortest axis of the inertia tensor. Its global shape, although convex in our representation, may reflect regions related to the excavation of the family members from the parent body surface. Interestingly, the second largest member of the Datura family - (90265) 2003 CL5 - appears to be very slow rotator with the rotation period ~24 h. The large amplitude of its rotation curve suggests that its shape is extremely elongated, possibly bi-lobed. Improved orbits of the family members allow us to re-determine the possible age of this family. We find an age that is slightly older than previously reported. Using a conservative approach, we obtain an age in the 450 to 600 kyr range. With strengthened, but plausible, conditions, we find that the current data may support an age of 530±20 kyr. Further astrometric and photometric observations of the Datura cluster members are needed to determine its age more accurately.

International audience; We report photometric lightcurve observations of 184 Dejopeja (apparition years: 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006), 276 Adelheid (2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006), and 556 Phyllis (1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006) carried out on 48 nights at four observatories. Using all of the available lightcurves, the spin vectors, senses of rotation, and shape models of these three asteroids have been determined.

A long-term adaptive optics (AO) campaign of observing the double Asteroid (90) Antiope has been carried out in 2003–2005 using 8–10-m class telescopes, allowing prediction of the circumstances of mutual events occurring during the July 2005 opposition [Marchis, F., Descamps, P., Hestroffer, D., Berthier, J., de Pater, I., 2004. Bull. Am. Astron. Soc. 36, 1180]. This is the first opportunity to use complementary lightcurve and AO observations to extensively study the (90) Antiope system, an interesting visualized binary doublet system located in the main belt. The orbital parameters derived from the AO observations have served as input quantities for the derivation of a whole set of other physical parameters (namely shapes, surface scattering, bulk density, and internal properties) from analysis of collected lightcurves. To completely model the observed lightcurves, we employed Roche figures to construct an overall shape solution. The combination of these complementary observations has enabled us to derive a reliable physical and orbital solution for the system. Our model is consistent with a system of slightly non-spherical components, having a size ratio of 0.95 (with R avg = 42.9 ± 0.5 km , separation = 171 ± 1 km ), and exhibiting equilibrium figures for homogeneous rotating bodies. A comparison with grazing occultation event lightcurves suggests that the real shapes of the components do not depart from Roche equilibrium figures by more than 10%. The J2000 ecliptic coordinates of the pole of the system are λ n = 200 ° ± 2 ° and α n = 38 ° ± 2 ° . The orbital period was refined to P = 16.5051 ± 0.0001 h , and the density is found to be slightly lower than previous determinations, with a value of 1.25 ± 0.05 g / cm 3 , leading to a significant macro-porosity of 30%. Possible scenarios for the origin of the system are also discussed.

We present a photometric and spectroscopic study of the visual binary V342 Andromedae. Visual components of the system have angular separations of 3 arcseconds. We obtained two spectroscopic data sets. An examination of both the A and B component spectra reveals that the B component is a spectroscopic binary with an eccentric orbit. The orbital period, taken from the Hipparcos Catalog, agrees with the orbital period of the B component measured spectroscopically. We also collected a new set of photometric measurements. The argument of periastron is close to 270 ◦ and the orbit eccentricity is not seen in our photometric data. About five years after the first spectroscopic observations, a new set of spectroscopic data was obtained. We analysed the apsidal motion, but we did not find any significant changes in the orbital orientation. A Wilson-Devinney model was calculated based on the photometric and the radial velocity curves. The result shows two very similar stars with masses M1 = 1.27 ± 0.01 M� , M2 = 1.28 ± 0.01 M� , respectively. The radii are R1 = 1.21 ± 0.01 R� , R2 = 1.25 ± 0.01 R� , respectively. Radial velocity measurements of component A, the most luminous star in the system, reveal no significant periodic variations. We calculated the time of the eclipsing binary orbit’s circularization, which is about two orders of magnitude shorter than the estimated age of the system. The discrepancies in the age estimation can be explained by the Kozai effect induced by the visual component A. The atmospheric parameters and the chemical abundances for the eclipsing pair, as well as the LSD profiles for both visual components, were calculated from two high-resolution, well-exposed spectra obtained on the 2-m class telescope.

We present the new, second spectroscopic telescope of Poznań Astronomical Observatory. The telescope allows automatic simultaneous spectroscopic and photometric observations and is scheduled to begin operation from Arizona in autumn 2013. Together with the telescope located in Borowiec, Poland, it will constitute a perfect instrument for nearly continuous spectroscopic observations of variable stars. With both instruments operational, the Global Astrophysical Telescope System will be established.

The Global Astronomical Telescope System is a project managed by the Astronomical Observatory Institute of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland) and it is primarily intended for stellar medium/high resolution spectroscopy. The system will be operating as a global network of robotic telescopes. The GATS consists of two telescopes: PST 1 in Poland (near Poznań) and PST 2 in the USA (Arizona). The GATS project is also intended to cooperate with the BRITE satellites and supplement their photometry with spectroscopic observations.

Context. Recent studies have uncovered evidence that the statistical properties of asteroids’ physical parameters are a fundamental source of information on the physics of their collisions and evolution. The analysis of the spin rates and spin vector distributions helps us to understand the role of various known and new effects. The alignment of spin vectors and the correlation of spin rates are for the first time observed for ten members of the Koronis family. These unexpected non-random orientations of the spin axes and correlations of the spin rates, now known as Slivan states are interpreted in terms of a YORP effect and spin-orbit resonances. Aims. To study non-gravitational-effects, there appears to be a need for new observational campaigns devoted to determining the physical parameters of the asteroid families. Methods. We analysed the photometric observations of the asteroids, which are the most efficient method of studying asteroid physical parameters.Results. We report the results of a ten-year long observational survey of the light variations of objects in the Flora region. We present 544 individual lightcurves of 55 objects obtained at various observing geometries. These lightcurves yield new or refined synodic periods for 32 asteroids and confirm period determinations for 23 objects in our sample. To improve the statistics of the Flora family objects, we add to our dataset 91 objects with reliably determined periods. The distribution of rotation rates for the Flora family is non-Maxwellian at a confidence level of 94% and different from those of the Koronis and the Hungaria families. It seems to be consistent with the long-term influence of the YORP effect, although it is also indicative of a younger age for the Flora family compared to both the Koronis and the Hungaria families. Conclusions. Our new data is a foundation for the spin vector and shape determinations that will be the objectives of the second paper of the series. We search for spin vector and spin periods correlations in order to determine whether Slivan states exist in the Flora family.

Context. The set of more than 100 asteroids, for which spin parameters have been modelled using an amplitude, magnitude or epoch methods, showed a pronounced gap in the distribution of the asteroid spin axes. These spin axes are rarely aligned with the ecliptic plane. Aims. The number of asteroids with known spin parameters should be increased to allow for statistical investigations. Methods. We gathered extensive photometric datasets on four selected main-belt asteroids to model their spin and shape parameters using the lightcurve inversion method. Our only criterion of selection was their observability for small telescopes. Results. All four of the modelled asteroids happened to have rotational poles that lie close to the ecliptic plane (periods and J2000 north pole coordinates): (94) Aurora − P = 7.226191 h, λp1 = 58 ◦ , βp1 =+ 16 ◦ ; λp2 = 242 ◦ , βp2 =+ 4 ◦ ; (174) Phaedra − P = 5.750249 h, λp = 265 ◦ , βp =+ 5 ◦ ; (679) Pax − P = 8.456016 h, λp1 = 42 ◦ , βp1 = −5 ◦ ; λp2 = 220 ◦ , βp2 =+ 32 ◦ (pole 2 preferred after comparison with AO-resolved observations); (714) Ulula − P = 6.998376 h, λp1 = 42 ◦ , βp1 = −9 ◦ ; λp2 = 227 ◦ , βp2 = −14 ◦ . Conclusions. This work suggests that asteroid spin axes do not avoid the ecliptic plane, contrary to what the classical modelling suggested.

Aims. Very small asteroids (VSAs) are thought to be the building blocks of larger asteroids and, as such, are interesting to study. Many of these monolithic or deeply fractured objects display rapid rotations with periods as short as several minutes. Observations of such asteroids can reveal their spin limits, which can be related to the tensile strength of their interiors. The evolution of the spins of these objects is primarily shaped by the YORP effect, the theory of which needs comparison with observations. Methods. With the 10 m SALT telescope, we observed VSAs belonging to near-Earth asteroids. The obtained lightcurves were used to derive synodical periods of rotation, amplitudes, and elongations of these bodies. Results. Results for 14 rapidly rotating asteroids were reported in the first paper in this series. Here we show lightcurves of 2 fast rotators, 9 objects with periods ≥1 h, and a possible non-principal axis rotator. We also list negative detections that most probably indicate asteroids with long periods and/or low amplitudes. Combining our results with the data from the literature, we obtain a set of 79 near-Earth VSAs with a median period of 0.25 h (15 min). By adjusting the spin limits predicted by theory to those observations, we find tentative evidence that the tensile strengths of VSAs, after scaling them to the same size, are of the same order as the minimum tensile strengths of stony meteoroids that undergo fragmentation under the atmospheric load.

Context. Earlier work suggests that slowly rotating asteroids should have higher thermal inertias than faster rotators because the heat wave penetrates deeper into the subsurface. However, thermal inertias have been determined mainly for fast rotators due to selection effects in the available photometry used to obtain shape models required for thermophysical modelling (TPM). Aims. Our aims are to mitigate these selection effects by producing shape models of slow rotators, to scale them and compute their thermal inertia with TPM, and to verify whether thermal inertia increases with the rotation period. Methods. To decrease the bias against slow rotators, we conducted a photometric observing campaign of main-belt asteroids with periods longer than 12 h, from multiple stations worldwide, adding in some cases data from WISE and Kepler space telescopes. For spin and shape reconstruction we used the lightcurve inversion method, and to derive thermal inertias we applied a thermophysical model to fit available infrared data from IRAS, AKARI, and WISE. Results. We present new models of 11 slow rotators that provide a good fit to the thermal data. In two cases, the TPM analysis showed a clear preference for one of the two possible mirror solutions. We derived the diameters and albedos of our targets in addition to their thermal inertias, which ranged between 3(-3)(+33) and 45(-30)(+60) Jm(-2) s(-1/2) K-1. Conclusions. Together with our previous work, we have analysed 16 slow rotators from our dense survey with sizes between 30 and 150 km. This project uses data from the SuperWASP archive.
