Abstract

The Accelerator Neutrino Neutron Interaction Experiment (ANNIE) is a 26-ton water Cherenkov neutrino detector installed on the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) at Fermilab. Its main physics goals are to perform a measurement of the neutron yield from neutrino-nucleus interactions, as well as a measurement of the charged-current cross section of muon neutrinos. An equally important focus is placed on the research and development of new detector technologies and target media. Specifically water-based liquid scintillator (WbLS) is of interest as a novel detector medium, as it allows for the simultaneous detection of scintillation and Cherenkov light. This paper presents the deployment of a 366L WbLS vessel in ANNIE in March 2023 and the subsequent detection of both Cherenkov light and scintillation from the WbLS. This proof-of-concept allows for the future development of reconstruction and particle identification algorithms in ANNIE, as well as dedicated analyses, such as the search for neutral current events and the hadronic scintillation component within the WbLS volume., Comment: 19 pages, 16 figures

14. Robust Gain-Scheduled Control of Switched-Mode DC-DC Converters

Abstract

10.1109/TPEL.2011.2178271 This paper presents a robust control synthesis framework for switched DC-DC converters. The framework is based on an LMI formulation which can be solved automatically by efficient convex optimization algorithms. The method considers parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions such that it can take into account the uncertainty of converter parameters, nonlinear dynamics (such as state-dependence), as well as transient and steady-state performances that can be imposed beforehand. The result of the proposed synthesis method is a gain-scheduled controller that guarantees stability despite the accounted nonlinear dynamics and can provide excellent performances. Two different synthesis examples are shown for a DC-DC boost converter and their performance and robustness are compared with a standard control approach as current-mode control, both in nominal and non-nominal conditions. Finally, the proposed approach is verified with experimental results.

16. Improvement of energy performances of dwelling housing in Belgrade

Abstract

The main concern of this research is to estimate different possibilities of energy performances improvement of existing dwelling housing in settlement Konjarnik, Belgrade, Serbia. Different solutions for reduction of energy consumption for heating of existing dwelling housing are proposed and taken into consideration. Two hypothetical models of improvement of building envelope are created and the annual energy savings for space heating according to the models is recognized. Comparative analyses of energy performances of existing building and predicted models of improvement are carried out regarding energy savings and reduction of CO 2 emissions. The results show that significant energy savings and reduction of CO 2 emissions can be obtained with a very simple refurbishment measures.
