It became necessary to integrate alternative teaching methods having excellent results in the nursing curriculum such as high-fidelity human patient simulation. High fidelity simulation improves nursing students' thinking, and emotional and decision-making capabilities. The pretest-posttest control group design was conducted to examine the effect of high-fidelity simulation (HFS) intervention on clinical decision-making for pediatric nursing students at the Arab American University in Palestine. One hundred fifty participants took part in the present study, where 50% (n = 75) were in each of the intervention and control groups. The intervention group received theory-based learning and high fidelity simulation, while the control group was provided with theory based learning and usual training in the nursing laboratory. Findings showed that after implementing the intervention, a significant change was noticed in means of clinical decision-making between the control and intervention groups. Therefore, high fidelity simulation intervention was effective, thus it could benefit the nursing students by enhancing clinical decision-making. The results support nursing educators and universities especially in developing countries to adopt such an intervention strategy for nursing students.

This study assessed the effect of virtual reality therapy on the stress and anxiety symptoms, in addition to physiological measures, including mean arterial pressure (MAP) and pulse rate among university students. A one group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants were baccalaureate students who enrolled in all faculties at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Amman Governorate. This study was conducted between December and January, 2019. The intervention involved an experience as a therapy called River Relaxation virtual reality (VR), which downloaded through Stream VR. The participants attended eight sessions for 15 min two sessions weekly over one month in the VR laboratory. There was a significant difference between the pre-post virtual reality therapy intervention for perceived stress (t = 8.411, p < 0.001), anxiety (t = 10.145, p < 0.001), MAP (t = 6.393, p < 0.001), and pulse (t = 2.571, p < 0.05). There was a statistically significant lowering in perceived stress, anxiety, and physiological measures including, MAP and pulse as a result of the Virtual Reality Therapy. Introduction Methods Results Conclusion There is a lack of research on the effect of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on minimising test anxiety and enhancing sleep quality among nursing students in Arab countries, including Palestine. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of a PMR intervention programme on test anxiety and sleep quality in fourth‐year nursing students before the comprehensive examination in Palestine.A one‐group pre‐/postdesign was conducted on a group of fourth‐year nursing students before the comprehensive examination (N = 60) at Arab American University in Palestine. The PMR programme consisted of five sessions lasting 45 min over the course of 1 week and was implemented from the beginning of January to the end of January 2024.Findings indicated a significant difference in test anxiety pre‐ and post‐PMR exercise (t[59] = 19.3, p < .01). Also, a significant difference was found in sleep quality before and after the PMR exercise (t[59] = 15.4, p < .01). Additionally, no difference was found in test anxiety and sleep based on age and gender pre‐/post‐PMR intervention programme.This study proposes that PMR effectively reduces test anxiety and improves sleep quality among nursing students. Therefore, the PMR programme should be incorporated as a therapeutic intervention for nursing students and students in general and particularly those suffering from test anxiety and poor sleep quality. Introduction: Innovative technologies, including virtual reality (VR), can be used for conducting VR exposure therapy (VRET) for individuals with psychiatric disorders, including claustrophobia. Unfortunately, there is a lack of studies on the effect of VR in treating claustrophobia in Arab countries, including Jordan. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of VRET on minimising anxiety symptoms at 1 week post‐therapy and the physiological arousal measures (heart rate, O2 saturation and mean arterial pressure) of participants before and following therapy. Methods: A pre‐/post‐test one‐group design was used, and participants (N = 44) who suffered from claustrophobia from Al‐Zaytoonah University of Jordan were recruited. VRET was conducted using the Cave experience, which consists of four stages and was carried out in 4 to 6 sessions during the period from April to September 2023. Results: The findings revealed a significant difference between pre‐ and post‐VR simulation intervention for anxiety symptoms and physiological measures; in addition, the participants perceived the usability of VR therapy. Conclusion: This study suggested that VRET was effective in managing claustrophobia, particularly in minimising anxiety symptoms. Therefore, VRET can be integrated into the therapeutic methods for individuals with claustrophobia. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of creative art therapy on reducing depressive symptoms and improving the quality of life among Jordanian older people.A one-group time-series design (pretest, posttest, and follow-up) was adopted between June 2021 and April 2022 on 102 community-dwelling older people who suffered from depressive symptoms and low quality of life in Amman Governorate.Significant differences were found among older people in pre-, post-, and follow-up therapy for depressive symptoms and quality of life. Post hoc tests showed a statistically significant reduction in symptoms and an improvement in quality of life from pre to post-intervention, which was sustained at follow-up.Results suggested that using creative art therapies as a therapeutic intervention for older persons was effective in minimizing depressive symptoms and improving quality of life. Aim. This study investigated the role of cultural, organizational, and managerial support, workplace fun, affective commitment, innovative behavior with innovative output, and also the mediating role of innovative behavior in the framework of a causal model. Background. Innovation is the driving force of development in hospitals, and the quality of healthcare is closely related to hospital innovation. Today, nurses with innovative behaviors are the biggest asset of any hospital because they are involved in any improvement and progress. Methods. This descriptive cross‐sectional correlational study was conducted using causal modeling methods, including path analysis and structural equation modeling. Using the proportional stratified sampling method, 321 nurses from Ardabil teaching hospitals were included in the study. Data were collected by standard demographic characteristics, innovative behaviors, innovative support, workplace fun, and affective commitment questionnaires. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM) was used to test the conceptual model using PLS‐SMART 2 software. Results. Cultural support had a positive and significant effect on innovative behavior by affecting organizational support and then managerial support. In addition, workplace fun had a positive and significant effect on innovative behavior directly and indirectly through the mediating role of affective commitment. Finally, innovative behavior also had a positive and significant effect on nurses' innovative output. Conclusion. Supervisors and managers can adopt the organizational and managerial support approach to improve the nurses' innovative behaviors. Workplace fun will also improve nurses' innovative behaviors and affective commitment, thereby increasing their innovative output. Implications for Nursing Management. By adopting organizational and managerial support for nurses' innovative behaviors, managers should take measures that promote workplace fun and affective commitment to improve nurses' innovative output by encouraging innovative behaviors. AbstractThis study aimed to assess the relationship between management commitment, psychological empowerment, and job performance among Palestinian academic employees in higher education institutions. A multi-wave survey was utilized and 665 academics were recruited from several public and private universities in West Bank, in which the stratified sampling method was adopted to select universities. Findings demonstrated that participants reported moderate levels of management commitment and job performance and agreeable levels of psychological empowerment. Management commitment and psychological empowerment positively correlated with job performance (p < 0.01). However, management commitment had a direct influence on job performance and management commitment had a relationship with psychological empowerment (p < 0.01). Thus, strategies should be carried out to enhance management commitment and psychological empowerment to improve job performance among academic staff. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim. This study was conducted to determine the association between knowledge management and social value among nurses working in hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Background. Knowledge management plays a significant role in healthcare systems. Healthcare providers require knowledge in every aspect of their work, and they must be able to rely on a knowledge management system to access the newest research and practice to ensure the highest quality of care. One of the evident goals of knowledge management is creating value in organizations. Creating value does not necessarily mean creating economic value, but creating social value is a category proposed as a prerequisite for knowledge management. Methods. This research is a descriptive‐analytical study conducted in Tehran in 2021 on two groups of nurses (N = 228) selected through a stratified random method. The data collection tools were Choi knowledge management questionnaire and a researcher‐made questionnaire on social value validated in Iranian society. Results. There was a positive and significant correlation between the variables of knowledge management and social value in Bachelor of Science (BSc) nurses (P value ≤0.01, r = 0.43), and no significant correlation was observed in Master of Science (MSc) nurses (P value >0.05, r = 0.14). Conclusions. In the BSc nurses' group, a direct and significant association was found between knowledge management and social value of BSc nurses so that by increasing the score of knowledge management in the nursing community, individuals feel more self‐worth, resulting in achieving a favorable level of customer satisfaction. Implication for Nursing Management. It is suggested that an accurate program should be designed for all academic levels of nurses in hospitals, the principal elements of creating knowledge and learning and its provision should be assessed, and the necessary measures should be taken. Aim. The current study investigated the levels and predictors of leaders' humble leadership, participants' psychological safety, knowledge sharing in the team, and followers' creativity in nursing. Background. Humble leadership, psychological safety, knowledge sharing, and followers' creativity are non‐nursing research fields, and humble leadership has recently been examined in nursing. Methods. A cross‐sectional research design was employed via an online survey. A nonprobability convenience snowball sample of 245 nursing academics (n = 85, 34.70%), nurses (n = 140, 57.10%), and nursing leaders (n = 20, 8.20%) was recruited from three universities and three hospitals. Results. The participants rated "high" the leaders' humble leadership, knowledge sharing in the team, and followers' creativity in nursing. However, participants' psychological safety was precarious. The four variables' predictors were assessed based on the sample's characteristics. Leaders' humble leadership did not predict participants' psychological safety; the sole predictor of the variable was the organization's quality initiatives. The predictors of knowledge sharing in the team were leaders' humble leadership, age, level of education, and accreditation initiatives in the organizations. The predictors of followers' creativity were leaders' humble leadership, level of education, and quality initiatives in the organizations. The lowest means of the four variables should be immediately managed. Conclusion. Quality initiatives in organizations and the number of tenures were the most influential predictors of the four variables evaluated. Leaders' humble leadership predicted knowledge sharing in the team and followers' creativity, but not participants' psychological safety. As followers' psychological safety contributes to trustful relationships within the team, workplace boundaries and conducive work environments should be promoted. AbstractThe environment of critical care units is a highly stressful situation where nurses face critical decisions and daily confrontations with ethical dilemmas. Thus, this study aimed to examine the relationship between the ethical behavior of a co-worker, ethical climate, self-ethical behavior, and job satisfaction among Jordanian critical care nurses. A cross-sectional design was used to perform this study. A convenience sampling method was adopted, and data were collected from 376 registered nurses from two health sectors (government and private) from March to May of 2022. Findings revealed the mean scores of ethical behavior of co-worker, ethical climate, self-ethical behavior, and job satisfaction were as follows: 3.07 (SD = 0.73) out of 4, 3.57 (SD = 0.65) out of 5, 3.45 (SD = 0.49) out of 5, and 3.20 (SD = 0.60) out of 6, respectively. There were positive relationships between job satisfaction and the ethical behavior of co-worker, ethical climate, and self-ethical behavior. Therefore, this study could direct hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to develop proper strategies for promoting job satisfaction among critical care nurses, possibly by focusing on ethical behaviors and climates. Airway management is one of the main situations that required nursing skills. Actual airway management experience on live patients is limited due to few opportunities to perform endotracheal intubation for students and issues related to students' liability. Therefore, this study evaluated the effect of High Fidelity Simulation airway management training program on nursing students' performance, satisfaction, and self-confidence in Palestine. A pre-post-test control group was applied through the recruitment of a 154 nursing students from Arab American University Palestine. The sample distributed randomly to experimental and control groups. Data were collected using the American Heart Association airway management performance checklist and the learner satisfaction and self-confidence for Learning (LSSCL) Questionnaires. Findings showed that there were no significant differences of airway management performance, satisfaction, and self-confidence scores between both groups at pre-test. On the contrary, there were significant differences between both groups of airway management performance, satisfaction, and self-confidence at post-test. Thus, High-fidelity simulation (HFS) was found to be an effective tool to provide a safe and effective learning environment for nursing students, consequently improving their airway management performance and increasing their satisfaction and self-confidence. Using Electronic Health Records results in better quality and safety in healthcare provided to patients. It enhances the productivity in health-care services and communication between health-care providers. Nurses are the largest group of health-care professionals anticipated to use Electronic Health Records during their work in health-care settings, including the emergency department. Thus, this study purposed to assess the factors that correlate acceptance of applying for Electronic Health Solutions Records among Jordanian emergency department nurses. A cross-sectional, descriptive correlational design was adopted. A total of 422 nurses participated in this study. A self-reported questionnaire included demographic data, acceptance of applying for Electronic Health Records, and acceptance-related factors of applying for this program were used to collect data. Findings showed that emergency nurses agreed on the acceptance of applying Electronic Health Records. There was a positive relationship between acceptance of applying Electronic Health Records and perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and nurses' involvement. Thus, the correlated factors should be considered during the implementation of Electronic Health Records in any health-care institution, especially the emergency department to enhance the nurses' acceptance of this system. Background: Although breakfast skipping among university students is a significant concern, its prevalence and the contributing factors among university students have received little attention in the literature. This study aims to determine the prevalence of skipping breakfast among Jordanian university students and examine the associated factors and variations in rates of skipping breakfast by day of the week. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among undergraduate students between March and May 2022 through a self-questionnaire. A convenience sample of 891 students was chosen at four Jordanian public universities. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The prevalence of skipping breakfast among university students was 66%. The reasons for skipping breakfast were having no time due to oversleeping and having no feeling of hunger (59% for both), followed by having no energy to prepare the breakfast and making no difference (49% and 48%), and not being able to afford to eat or buy breakfast (19%). There is a strong correlation between eating fast food and skipping breakfast. With whom the student eats breakfast is significantly associated with breakfast skipping, revealing that the highest percentages of skipping occur with friends. About 63% of students skipped breakfast through university days compared with 37% on the weekend, while 37% of them had breakfast through university days compared with 67% on the weekend. Conclusions: A high percentage of university students in Jordan skip breakfast. More attention should be paid to correlating factors and developing interventions to help students adhere to the breakfast. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Clinical training allows nursing students to acquire and strengthen their psychomotor abilities, which is an important component of nursing education. The clinical components of nursing training programs were much more demanding than the academic ones. Purposes: The purpose of this study was to examine sources of stress-related and coping behaviors during first clinical training among nursing students in the Arab American University. Methods: The study was cross-sectional and conducted with a convenience sample of 266 participants of nursing students. Data collection was performed by "Perceived Stress Scale and the Coping Behavior Inventory." The data were analyzed by using the descriptive, that is, frequency and percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Results: The results revealed that the perceived stress mean was 41.2 (SD = 19.5). The main stressors were taking care of the patients (M = 11.4 ± 0.85) and teachers and nursing staff (M = 8.32 ± 5.3). Coping behaviors mean was (M = 29.0 ± 15.2). The main coping behavior was problem-solving (M = 9.5 ± 5.6). Conclusion: The study confirmed that students perceived moderate levels of stress in their first clinical training, and the most common sources of stress were taking care of the patients and teachers and nursing staff.
