Giriş ve Amaç: Tek kitle (bulk-fill) rezin kompozitler, tabakalama tekniği ile uygulanan rezin kompozitlere göre avantajları nedeniyle tercih edilmektedir. Çalışmamızın amacı, farklı yerleştirme tekniklerinin ve ışınlama sürelerinin rezin kompozitlerin mikrosertliği üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Yöntem ve Gereçler: Çalışmada, üç farklı tek kitle kompozit materyali (Grup-1: Tetric Evo Ceram (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan- Liechteinstein), Grup-2: Quixfill (Dentsply De Trey, Konstaz-Germany), Grup-3: Ever X Posterior (GC Corp., Tokyo-Japan)) ve bir konvansiyonel tabakalama tekniği ile uygulanan kompozit materyali (Grup-4: Tetric N Ceram (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan- Liechteinstein)) kullanıldı. Her grup için hazırlanan 14 örnek, ışınlama süresine (20s/40s) göre 2 gruba ayrıldı. Kompozitlerin mikrosertlik değerleri ölçümü, örneklerin alt ve üst yüzeylerinden gerçekleştirildi. İstatistiksel değerlendirme ANOVA, t-testi ve Bonferroni Post-hoc testleri ile yapıldı. Bulgular: Grup-2’nin alt ve üst yüzeyinden elde edilen mikrosertlik değerlerinin, her iki ışınlama süresinde diğer gruplara göre yüksek olduğu saptandı. Soğuk püskürtme, katı tozların yakınsak/ıraksak türde bir nozul vasıtasıyla altlığa doğru hızlandırıldığı bir katı hal biriktirme işlemidir. Kaplama birikimi püskürtülen parçacıkları ergitmeden gerçekleşir. Püskürtülen parçacıklar yüksek kinetik enerjiye sahip olduğu için çarpma esnasında altlığa yapışır. Başarılı bir yapışma sağlamak için toz parçacıkların, kendi malzeme özelliklerine bağlı olan kritik hız değerini çarpma esnasında aşması gereklidir. Metaller, seramikler, kompozitler ve polimerler gibi farklı malzemeler soğuk püskürtme kullanılarak biriktirilebilir. Soğuk püskürtme, yüzey kaplaması elde etmek için yeni ve gelecek vaat eden bir teknolojidir ve biriktirme için termal enerji yerine kinetik enerji kullandığından termal püskürtmeye göre çeşitli teknolojik avantajlar sunar. Sonuç olarak, kalıntı gerilmeler, oksidasyon ve istenmeyen kimyasal reaksiyonlar önlenebilir. Soğuk püskürtme teknolojisi endüstride birçok uygulama alanına sahiptir. Birçok endüstride kullanılan bileşenlerin korunması ve onarımı amacıyla geliştirilmiştir. Son yıllarda soğuk püskürtme işlemi elektronik sistemlerin tamiri, eklemeli imalat, kaynak, sert lehimleme, yüzey koruma, tıbbi cihazlar ve tıbbi malzemeler gibi uygulama alanlarında kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışma, soğuk püskürtme işleminin tarihsel gelişimini, temel ilkelerini ve özelliklerini, yapışma mekanizmasını ve endüstriyel uygulama alanlarını kısaca gözden geçirerek soğuk püskürtme işlemini özetlemektedir., Cold spray (CS) is a solid-state deposition process in which solid powders are accelerated towards the substrate via a converging/diverging nozzle. Coating deposition occurs without melting the sprayed particles. Spray particles adhere to the substrate on impact because of their high kinetic energy. For successful bonding, powder particles have to exceed a critical velocity on impact, which is dependent on the properties of the particular spray material. Different materials such as metals, ceramics, composites and polymers can be deposited using CS. CS is a novel and promising technology to obtain surface coating, offering several technological advantages over thermal spray since it utilizes kinetic energy rather than thermal energy for deposition. As a result, residual stresses, oxidation and undesired chemical reactions can be avoided. Cold spray technology has many applications in the industry. It has been developed for the protection and repair of components used in many industries. In recent years, cold spray process has been used in application fields such as repair of electronic systems, additive manufacturing, welding, brazing, surface protection, medical devices, and medical materials. This study summarizes the cold spray process by briefly reviewing the historical development, basic principles and features, adhesion mechanism and application areas of the cold spray process.

In this study, ceramic coatings were developedon AA7075 alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method in differentsolutions prepared by adding aluminum oxide, silicon oxide, wolfram-titaniumcarbide and titanium carbide particles. The phase composition of the coatingswas investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The surface morphology ofthe coatings and the microstructure of the cross-section were investigated byscanning electron microscopy (SEM). Chemical analyzes of the coatings were madeby means of energy distribution x-ray spectrometry (EDX). The hardness valuesof the coatings were measured by microVickers hardness tester. In order toexamine the friction and wear behavior of the coated substrates, dry slidingwear tests were performed against 100Cr6 steel and alumina balls. After thewear test, the wear profile was obtained by the surface profilometer and thematerial volume loss was calculated. As a result of the tests, it has beenobserved that the surface hardness and wear resistance of the AA7075 alloy wassignificantly increased by the application of PEO coatings. Thecoatings consist of a dense inner layer and a porous outer layer. It has beendetermined that the coating hardness increased close to substrate/coatinginterface while decreasing towards the free surface due to the increasedporosity. The coatings produced in silicon oxide particle-containing solutionswere found to be thicker and rougher than the other coatings. Yapılan testler sonucunda AA7075 alaşımın yüzeysertliği ve aşınma dayanımının üretilen PEO kaplamalarla önemli ölçüde arttığıgözlenmiştir. Kaplamalar yoğun iç tabaka ve gözenekli üst tabakadanoluşmaktadır. Kaplama sertliğinin altlık/kaplama arayüzeyine yakın bölgedeyüksek, yüzeye doğru ilerledikçe gözenekliliğin artışından dolayı düştüğübelirlenmiştir. Silisyum oksit parçacık içeren çözeltilerde üretilenkaplamaların diğer kaplamalara göre daha kalın ve pürüzlü olduğu tespitedilmiştir. En düşük aşınma kaybı titanyum karbür içeren çözeltilerde üretilenkaplamada elde edilmiştir.

The objective of this study was to bulk float the discoloured impurities from feldspar ores at alkali conditions compared to conventional treatment method where the impurities are removed from the ore in acidic conditions in two stages. Conventionally, the feldspar concentrate is produced by reverse multi-stage flotation of impurities such as micaceous and heavy minerals separately in an acidic medium in two-stages using two different collectors of amine and oleate types. This study showed that the impurities in three different feldspar ores, received from Aydin, Milas and Manisa, located in the western part of Turkey, were bulk floated successfully in an alkali medium, using a fatty acid based collector. With this novel approach, increased capacity, decreased collector and acid consumption, easy circuit control, lower unit cost were achieved. The results of bench scale flotation tests with this novel method were compared to conventional method and its applicability was discussed.

Inorganic and organic hybrid coatings were deposited on Al 7075 substrate by dip coating in a sol prepared from tetraethoxysilane with and without addition of both boric acid and ormosil. The samples were heat treated at two different temperatures of 120 and 220 degrees C. In case of using ormosil coated samples it was necessary to be heat treated at 120 degrees C to obtain full coverage of coatings. For this composition a film thickness of 2-3 micron could be reached by repeatedly coating and heat treatment for 5 times, whereas by other compositions a thickness of only about 1 micron could be reached. Microstructures of the films were characterized by SEM and energy dispersive X-ray analyses (EDX). The crystallization behaviour and thermal analysis of the films as well as gels were studied by XRD and DTA. According to electrochemical results the coated samples from the composition with ormosil repeatedly coated and heat treated for five times at 120 degrees C showed the best corrosion resistance. However increasing the temperature resulted in occurrence of micro holes defects and in island forms broken of coatings, which caused weakness of corrosion effect. These findings were confirmed with the SEM micrographs of the same samples. On the other hand boron additives exhibited better adherence of the solution to the substrate compared to tetraethoxysilane solution.

m ÖZET Toplam eklem protezinin dünya çapmda kabul görmesi ve başarısının tanınmasınına rağmen, aşınma kullanılan yüksek molekül ağırlıklı polietilen (UHMWPE) bileşenin ömrünü sınırlandıran ana engeldir. Bu çalışma, (i) 316 L paslanmaz çeliği üzeirndeki TiN ve ZrN lü PVD kaplamaların ve (ii) UHMWPE nin gamma radyasyonunun bu malzemelerden oluşan sürtünen ikilinin aşınma davranışları üzerindeki etkiyi incelemek üzere yağılmıştır. Aşın yüksek molekül ağırlıklı polietilen UHMWPE pimlerin aşınması tek yönlü pin-disk tribometresi kullanılarak 120 dev/dak hız ve 225 N temas yükü uygulanarak ölçüldü. Toplam kayma mesafesi 32.5 km olarak belirlendi. Polietilen bileşenler EN 552 Avrupa standardına göre gama radyasyonuna tabi tutuldu. Pimlerin yüzey pürüzlülükleri deney başında ve deney sonunda temassız Taylor Habson yüzey profilometresi ile ölçüldü. Gama radyasyonuna tabi tutulmuş pin, kaplamasız paslanmaz çelik çifti en iyi aşınma direncini gösterdi. Bu malzeme çiftinin net kütle kaybı 0.4 mg olarak ölçüldü. TiN kaplı diskler için net kütle kaybı gama radyasonu yapılmış olanlar için 20.5mg, gama radyasyonu yapılmamışlar için 103 mg olarak ölçüldü. Aşınma çiftlerinin kütle kayıplarına göre sıralaması ortalama sürtünme kuvvetleri ve deney sounda ölçülen Ra yüzey pürüzlülük değerleri sıralaması birbirleri ile uyumlu bulunmuştur, implant kalite 316 L S S malzemesinin yorulma ömrünün kaplama yapılması ile arttığı ispat edilmişse de (Azem Z. 1999), protez kafalarının TiN veya ZrN ile kaplanması polietilenin, gama radyasyonu yapılmış olsabile, aşınmasını hızlandırmaktadır. II ABSTRACT Despite the recognized success and worldwide acceptance of total joint arthroplasty, wear is a major obstacle limiting the longevity of implanted ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) components. The study was undertaken to investigate effect of (i) PVD coating of TiN and ZrN on 316 L stainless steel and (ii) gamma irradiation of UHMWPE on the wear behavior of the friction couples comprised the named materials. The wear of the UHMWPE pins were measured using a Plint & Partners unidirectional pin-on-disk tribometer at a speed of 120 cycle/min by applying a contact load of 225 N. The total sliding distance was 32.5 km. The polyethylene components were gamma irradiated at a dose of 2.5 Mrad according to European standard En 552. The surface roughnesses of the pins were measured using a Taylor Habson non-conducting profilometer. The gamma irradiated polyethylene pin and un coated 316 L stainless steel pan- showed the best wear resistance. The net weight loss for this pair was 0,4 mg. The net weight loss for TiN coated disks were 103 mg for unirradiated pin and 20.5 mg for gamma-irradiated pin. The order of weight losses corresponded to the order of mean friction force and the Ra values measured after the test of each couple. Although PVD coating by TiN and ZrN the femoral stems improved the fatigue life of the implant quality 316 L SS (Azem Z. 1999), coating the femoral head either by TiN or ZrN was found to accelerate the wear of the polyethylene even if it was gamma irradiated. 98

Alüminyum hafif metal oluşu ile tanınmaktadır. Bu özelliği sayesinde alüminyum; uzay, havacılık, otomotiv, gemicilik, hidrolik ve pnömatik sistemlerdeki devre elemanları ve hatta ev gereçleri gibi çok geniş bir uygulama yelpazesinde bulunmaktadır. Son yıllarda sürekli gelişim gösteren yüzey teknolojileri alanında önemli bir yere sahip olan Mikro Ark Oksidasyon (MAO) yöntemi ile her türlü alüminyum alaşımı kolayca kaplanabilmektedir. Bu işlemler ile mekanik, yüzey ve tribolojik özellikleri geliştirilebilmektedir.Bu tez çalışmasında MAO kaplanmış ve kaplanmamış AA6082 test numunelerinin tribolojik özelliklerinin belirlenebilmesi için üç farklı deney düzeneklerinde belirlenen çalışma şartlarında testler uygulanmıştır. Pim-Disk Aşınma Deney Düzeneğinde ve Gidip-Gelme Aşınma Deney Düzeneğinde numunelere 0,146 m/s, 0,292 m/s, 0,438 m/s kayma hızlarında ve 50 N, 100 N, 150 N yüklerde, 5000 m (5km) kat etme mesafesinde farklı yağlama koşullarında testler yapılmıştır. Ayrıca MAO kaplanmış ve kaplanmamış radyal kaymalı yatak numunelerin tribolojik özelliklerinin belirlenebilmesi için ise Sabit Yüklü Radyal Kaymalı Yatak Deney düzeneğinde 5 d/d, 10 d/d, 50 d/d, 100 d/d, 250 d/d, 500 d/d, 750 d/d ve 1000 d/d mil hızlarında ve 150 N, 250 N ve 500 N sabit yatak yüklerinde 40 °C sıcaklıktaki yağla besleyerek testler uygulanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında; sürtünme kuvveti, sürtünme katsayısı, aşınma oranı ile aşınma miktarı, pim test numunelerinin yüzey pürüzlülük ölçümleri, kaplama kalınlık ölçümleri, numunelerin makro görüntü incelemeleri, kaplamaların Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM), Enerji dağılımlı X ışını spektrometresi (EDX), X-Işını Difraksiyon (XRD) ve Atomik Kuvvet Mikroskobu (AFM) incelemeleri yapılmıştır.Pim-Disk ve Gidip-Gelme deney düzeneklerinde hem yağ beslemeli hem de sınır yağlama şartlarındaki testlerde MAO kaplanmış numunelerden elde edilen sürtünme katsayıları, kaplanmamış numunelerden genellikle daha yüksek çıkarken, aşınma oranları ise daha düşük çıkmıştır. Sabit Yüklü Radyal Kaymalı Yatak Deney düzeneğinde ise; özellikle orta ve yüksek hızlarda MAO kaplanmış numunelerde daha düşük sürtünme katsayıları elde edilmiştir. Aluminum with this feature has a very wide variety of applications from aircraft, aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding ,hydraulics and elements of pneumatic systems to household products. Whole aluminum alloys can be coated easily by micro arc oxidation has an important place in surface process area showing continuous improvement in recent years. With these transactions, properties of mechanical, surface and tribological can be improved.In this study, the tests were applied to determine the tribological proporties of MAO coated and uncoated AA6082 test samples on three different test platforms with determined working conditions. Some tests were realized on different lubrication conditions at room temperature with the velocity of 0,146 m/s, 0,292 m/s, 0,438 m/s at the load magnitude of 50 N, 100 N, 150 N, and with the distance of 5000m by using a pin on disk abrassive test apparatus and reciprocating abrassive test apparatus. Other tests were realized with the rotational velocity of 5, 10, 50, 100, 250, 500, 750, and 1000 rev/min, with the constant radial load of 150 N, 250 N 500 N and feeding a oil with 40 °C in order to realize the tribological properties of journal bearing of the MAO coated and uncoated samples. In the aim of this thesis study, friction force, coefficient of the friction, wear ratio, wear quantities, surface roughness of the pin test samples, coating with measurements, macro view analsys, SEM, energy distributed X ray spectrometer, X-ray difraction and atomic force microscope were all investigated.The wear ratio of MAO coated samples is found lower than the uncoated samples while the friction coefficients of MAO coated samples are generally higher than that of the uncoated ones in the tests of the MAO coated and uncoated samples under boundary friction and lubricating conditions with lubricant feeding in Pin-on-Disc and Reciprocating tester. The MAO coated journal bearings had low friction performance at the medium and high velocities of the shaft on the constant loaded journal bearing in the experimental setup. Titanyum ve alaşımları, yüksek özgül mukavemet, yüksek korozyon direnci ve biyouyumluluk gibi üstün özelliklere sahip olduğu için havacılık, biyomedikal ve kimya sanayilerinde standart malzeme olarak kabul görmüştür. Ancak, titanyum ve alaşımlarının kullanımıyla ilgili önemli bir eksikliği zayıf aşınma direncine sahip olmasıdır. Titanyum kendisine karşı veya diğer metallere karşı sürtündüğünde, birbirine yapışmaya eğilimlidir ve adeziv aşınma hasarına sebep olur. Titanyum alaşımlarının yüksek sürtünme katsayısı, burç ve rulman gibi yüksek yük altında çalışan birçok tribolojik sistemin aşınarak işlevsiz hale gelmesiyle sonuçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, ticari saflıkta titanyum ve Ti6Al4V alaşımlarının elektrokimyasal ve tribolojik özelliklerini iyileştirmek amacıyla plazma elektrolitik oksidasyon yöntemi kullanılarak oksit kaplamalar üretilmiştir. Düşük gözenekliliğe ve yüksek yük taşıma kapasitesine sahip sert kaplama geliştirmek amacıyla farklı elektrolit bileşimleri oluşturulmuştur. Kaplamaların mikroyapısı elektron mikroskobuyla incelenmiştir. Kaplamaların faz bileşimi X-ışını kırınımıyla tespit edilmiştir. Kaplamaların mikro-mekanik özelliklerini belirlemek için nanoiz testi yapılmıştır. Kaplamaların yapışma mukavemetini belirlemek için kazıma testi kullanılmıştır. Kaplamaların tribolojik davranışını incelemek için çelik ve alumina bilyalara karşı kuru kaymalı aşınma testleri yapılmıştır. Potansiyodinamik polarizasyon ve elektrokimyasal empedans spektroskopisi teknikleri kullanılarak sodyum klorür çözeltisi içerisinde elektrokimyasal korozyon testleri yapılmıştır. Test sonuçları göstermektedir ki, titanyum alaşımların korozyon ve aşınma direnci gerek doğru bir elektrolit seçimi gerekse uygun bir son işlem uygulanarak önemli ölçüde arttırılabilir. Titanium and its alloys have been adopted as standard materials in aviation, biomedical and chemical industries owing to their outstanding properties involving high specific strength, high corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. But, an important shortcoming related to the application of titanium and its alloys is their poor wear resistance. When titanium slides against itself or other metals it tends to gall and cause adhesive wear damage. The high friction coefficient of titanium alloys may result in seizure of many tribological systems under high load such as bushings and bearings. In this study, oxide coatings on commercially pure titanium and Ti6Al4V alloys were produced using plasma electrolytic oxidation technique in order to enhance their electrochemical and tribological properties. Different electrolyte compositions were formulated to develop hard coating with less porosity and high load bearing capacity. Microstructure of coatings were investigated using scanning electron microscopy. Phase composition of coatings was identified by X-ray diffraction. Nano-indentation test was carried out to determine the micromechanical properties of the coatings. Scratch test was utilized to determine the adhesion strength of coatings. In order to investigate the tribological behavior of coatings, dry sliding wear tests were performed against steel and alumina balls. The electrochemical corrosion tests were conducted using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques in sodium chloride solution.
