Understanding the impact of hybrid nanofluids (NF) on natural convection (NC) within complex enclosures can significantly advance the efficiency of heat transfer (HT) mechanisms. These advancements play a crucial role in various engineering applications, such as thermal systems in electronics, energy conversion, and heat exchangers. This study numerically examined the NC taking place within a sinusoidal corrugated enclosure filled with an Ag-MgO hybrid NF. This system was heated differentially by a vertical solid wall. The vertical right wall of the solid is maintained at an isothermal at a high-temperature Th, while the left vertical wall of the cavity is kept at an isothermal at a low-temperature Tc. The vertical left wall of the solid is in contact with the porous medium (PM) saturated with the cavity's hybrid NF. In contrast, the top and bottom horizontal walls are maintained adiabatic. The governing equations were solved by employing the Galerkin weighted residual finite elements approach. The porous domain is modeled by employing the Darcy-Brinkman formulation. The parameters being studied encompass the Darcy number (10−5 ≤ Da ≤ 10−2), Rayleigh number (103 ≤ Ra ≤ 106), nanoparticle volume fraction (0 ≤ ϕ ≤ 0.04), amplitude of waviness (0.05 ≤ A ≤ 0.2), and number of undulations (1 ≤ N ≤ 4). The results highlighted that the introduction of hybrid nanoparticles into the pure fluid enhances the HT rate across the parameter spectrum. The highest average Nusselt number (Nuav) is attained at Ra = 106, Da = 10−2, A = 0.2 and N = 4. The findings of the current study have practical implications for current industrial applications, particularly in the cooling of electronic devices.

This study was carried out to investigate the antimicrobial activity of methanolic flower extract of Plumeria alba and identification of the possible antimicrobial compounds through GC–MS analysis. Antimicrobial efficacy of the methanolic extract of 5 ppm to 1000 ppm concentrations was assessed against five fungal (Trichoderma viride, T. reesei, T. harzianum, T. hamatum and T. koningii) and five bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp., Pseudomonas sp., Bacillus sp. and Staphylococcus sp.). In general, all the concentrations of the extract significantly reduced growth of all the fungal and bacterial species. However, there was a significant variation in susceptibility of different fungal and bacterial species to the applied concentrations of the extract. The extract was the most effective against T. reesii followed by T. viride, T. harzianum, T. hamatum and T. koningii causing 11–97%, 36–90%, 24–86%, 7–77% and 9–76% reduction in their growth. Similarly, there was 23–93%, 12–92%, 36–90%, 19–90% and 8–84% reduction in growth of Bacillus sp., Staphylococcus sp., E. coli, Pseudomonas sp., and Salmonella sp., respectively, due to different concentrations of methanolic extract. GC–MS analysis of the extract showed the presence of 21 constituents. The most abundant compound was benzofuran, 2,3-dihydro- (27.95%). Other important compounds included cyclononanone (14.59%), 9-octadecyne (14.29%), 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, methyl ester, (Z,Z,Z)- (10.28%), benzyl alcohol (5.57%), 1-decanol, 2-hexyl- (5.44%), 2,6-octadien-1-ol, 3,7-dimethyl-, acetate, (Z)- (3.76%), 4H-pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl- (2.48%) and heptadecane (2.43%). It is concluded that methanolic extract of P. alba flowers has the potential to control both fungal as well as bacterial growth.

Series of experiments were conducted to identify the possible antifungal components of Chenopodium album leaves for the management of a highly destructive soil-borne fungal pathogen Sclerotium rolfsii. A 4% methanolic extract caused up to 82% reduction in biomass of the target organism. This extract was partitioned using solvents of variable polarities, and the obtained subfractions were evaluated for their activity against S. rolfsii. The best antifungal activity was detected for the ethyl acetate subfraction (60–74%) followed by n-hexane (51–69%), n-butanol (50–60%), chloroform (20–40%) while the aqueous sub-fraction had the lowest activity (9–35%) as detected by the decrease in biomass of the pathogen. Ethyl acetate and n-hexane sub-fractions were analyzed for their chemical constituents by GC–MS technique. Literature survey showed that among the identified compounds kitazin P, imidazole-4-carboxylic acid, 2-fluoro-1-methoxymethyl-, ethyl ester and 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ester, (Z,Z,Z)- had antifungal activities against other fungal species and could be responsible for control of S. rolfsii by methanolic extract in the present study.

Diversity climate and job crafting are a few of the supportive managerial strategies that can be applied to cultivate the innovative capacity of nurses. Objective Aim for the current study is to: (a) examine the role of diversity climate in cultivating innovative work behavior of nurses directly; and (b) indirectly through job crafting. Sugarcane Bagasse can be used as an adsorbent both under natural conditions and modified by chemical activation using sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Activation of sugarcane bagasse with NaOH was carried out at variations of 5:1, 10:1, and 20:1 (w/w). The absorption ability of bagasse adsorbent to methylene blue solution was carried out with the parameters of variation of contact time (60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes), adsorbate concentration (20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 ppm) and temperature (30, 40, 50, and 60 oC). The adsorbent's characterization included determining the functional groups using FTIR, morphology, and mass of elements using SEM-EDX, and determining the surface area and volume of adsorbent pores using the BET methods. The highest adsorption percentage results were found in the NASB10:1 adsorbent at 99.50%. The optimum conditions for the NASB10:1 adsorbent are with a contact time of 120 minutes, an adsorbate concentration of 50 ppm, and a temperature of 30 oC or 303 K. The NASB10:1 adsorbent has the highest surface area compared to other adsorbents, namely 2.803 m2/g so that it can perform the maximum absorption of methylene blue.

Alzheimer's is a neurodegenerative disease caused by the destruction and death of brain neurons resulting in memory loss, impaired thinking ability, and in certain behavioral changes. Alzheimer disease is a major cause of dementia and eventually death all around the world. Early diagnosis of the disease is crucial which can help the victims to maintain their level of independence for comparatively longer time and live a best life possible. For early detection of Alzheimer's disease, we are proposing a novel approach based on fusion of multiple types of features including hemodynamic, volumetric and textural features of the brain. Our approach uses non-invasive fMRI with ensemble of classifiers, for the classification of the normal controls and the Alzheimer patients. For performance evaluation, ten-fold cross validation is used. Individual feature sets and fusion of features have been investigated with ensemble classifiers for successful classification of Alzheimer's patients from normal controls. It is observed that fusion of features resulted in improved results for accuracy, specificity and sensitivity.

Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (AC) is a genetic disease characterized by fibro-fatty replacement of either ventricles in isolation or in combination. It may cause tachyarrhythmias to sudden cardiac death, especially in young adult. When ventricular tachycardia (VT) is the principal manifestation then the condition is termed as arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD). Here we present a case of ARVD in a 36 years old hypertensive male who presented with sudden onset of chest tightness, palpitations, breathing difficulty, dizziness for 20 minutes. In emergency department his electrocardiogram (ECG) showed sustained VT. After 200 joule DC cardioversion he was reverted to sinus rhythm, then resting ECG showed T-wave inversion (TWI) in V1-V3 along with epsilon wave. His echocardiogram also revealed dilated right ventricle (RV) along with hypertrabeculation, RV wall motion abnormality and low RV ejection fraction (EF), his coronaries were normal on coronary angiogram (CAG). He was discharged from the hospital after Implantable Cardioverter Defibrilator (ICD) implantation with beta-blocker and advised to restrict excessive physical activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigates the role of smart tourism technology (STT) attributes (accessibility, informativeness, interactivity, and personalisation) in creating a positive STT experience, influencing tourists' intentions to revisit, thus benefiting the image of a heritage site. A conceptual model was developed by formulating key reasoning from the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) and flow theory. Four hundred samples were collected from four national heritage sites in India to test the model. The results indicated that the STT role is critical in developing tourists' STT experience and revisit intention, with STT attributes representing the central route of elaboration tending to play a stronger role. This study discusses results across age (old/young) and gender (male/female) with theoretical implications that could also contribute meaningful insights to marketers, government bodies, and corporations involved in tourism development. Importantly, the emergence of STT and the dimensions of the heritage site image are discussed from a sustainability perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kinesin and dynein are motor proteins that move in opposite directions along microtubules. In this study, we examine the consequences of having kinesin and dynein (ciliary outer arm or cytoplasmic) bound to glass surfaces interacting with the same microtubule in vitro. Although one might expect a balance of opposing forces to produce little or no net movement, we find instead that microtubules move unidirectionally for several microns (corresponding to hundreds of ATPase cycles by a motor) but continually switch between kinesin-directed and dynein-directed transport. The velocities in the plus-end (0.2-0.3 microns/s) and minus-end (3.5-4 microns/s) directions were approximately half those produced by kinesin (0.5 microns/s) and ciliary dynein (6.7 microns/s) alone, indicating that the motors not contributing to movement can interact with and impose a drag upon the microtubule. By comparing two dyneins with different duty ratios (percentage of time spent in a strongly bound state during the ATPase cycle) and varying the nucleotide conditions, we show that the microtubule attachment times of the two opposing motors as well as their relative numbers determine which motor predominates in this assay. Together, these findings are consistent with a model in which kinesin-induced movement of a microtubule induces a negative strain in attached dyneins which causes them to dissociate before entering a force-generating state (and vice versa); reversals in the direction of transport may require the temporary dissociation of the transporting motor from the microtubule. The bidirectional movements described here are also remarkably similar to the back-and-forth movements of chromosomes during mitosis and membrane vesicles in fibroblasts. These results suggest that the underlying mechanical properties of motor proteins, at least in part, may be responsible for reversals in microtubule-based transport observed in cells.

The substrate specificities of dynein, kinesin, and myosin substrate turnover activity and cytoskeletal filament-driven translocation were examined using 15 ATP analogues. The dyneins were more selective in their substrate utilization than bovine brain kinesin or muscle heavy meromyosin, and even different types of dyneins, such as 14S and 22S dynein from Tetrahymena cilia and the beta-heavy chain-containing particle from the outer-arm dynein of sea urchin flagella, could be distinguished by their substrate specificities. Although bovine brain kinesin and muscle heavy meromyosin both exhibited broad substrate specificities, kinesin-induced microtubule translocation varied over a 50-fold range in speed among the various substrates, whereas heavy meromyosin-induced actin translocation varied only by fourfold. With both kinesin and heavy meromyosin, the relative velocities of filament translocation did not correlate well with the relative filament-activated substrate turnover rates. Furthermore, some ATP analogues that did not support the filament translocation exhibited filament-activated substrate turnover rates. Filament-activated substrate turnover and power production, therefore, appear to become uncoupled with certain substrates. In conclusion, the substrate specificities and coupling to motility are distinct for different types of molecular motor proteins. Such nucleotide "fingerprints" of enzymatic activities of motor proteins may prove useful as a tool for identifying what type of motor is involved in powering a motility-related event that can be reconstituted in vitro.
