Iron is an essential microelement for plant growth. After uptake from the soil, iron is chelated by ligands and translocated from roots to shoots for subsequent utilization. However, the number of ligands involved in iron chelation is unclear. In this study, we identified and demonstrated that GLU1, which encodes a ferredoxin-dependent glutamate synthase, was involved in iron homeostasis. First, the expression of GLU1 was strongly induced by iron deficiency condition. Second, lesion of GLU1 results in reduced transcription of many iron-deficiency-responsive genes in roots and shoots. The mutant plants revealed a decreased iron concentration in the shoots, and displayed severe leaf chlorosis under the condition of Fe limitation, compared to wild-type. Third, the product of GLU1, glutamate, could chelate iron in vivo and promote iron transportation. Last, we also found that supplementation of glutamate in the medium can alleviate cadmium toxicity in plants. Overall, our results provide evidence that GLU1 is involved in iron homeostasis through affecting glutamate synthesis under iron deficiency conditions in Arabidopsis.

Background and Aims Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR), functioning in the de novo synthesis of deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs), is crucial for DNA replication and cell cycle progression. In most plants, the large subunits of RNR have more than one homologous gene. However, the different functions of these homologous genes in plant development remain unknown. In this study, we obtained the mutants of two large subunits of RNR in tomato and studied their functions. Methods The mutant ylc1 was obtained by ethyl methyl sulfonate (EMS) treatment. Through map-based cloning, complementation and knock-out experiments, it was confirmed that YLC1 encodes a large subunit of RNR (SlRNRL1). The expression level of the genes related to cell cycle progression, chloroplast biogenesis and photosynthesis was assessed by RNA-sequencing. In addition, we knocked out SlRNRL2 (a SlRNRL1 homologue) using CRISPR-Cas9 technology in the tomato genome, and we down-regulated SlRNRL2 expression in the genetic background of slrnrl1-1 using a tobacco rattle virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) system. Key results The mutant slrnrl1 exhibited dwarf stature, chlorotic young leaves and smaller fruits. Physiological and transcriptomic analyses indicated that SlRNRL1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell cycle progression, chloroplast biogenesis and photosynthesis in tomato. The slrnrl2 mutant did not exhibit any visible phenotype. SlRNRL2 has a redundant function with SlRNRL1, and the double mutant slrnrl1slrnrl2 is lethal. Conclusions SlRNRL1 is essential for cell cycle progression, chloroplast biogenesis and photosynthesis. In addition, SlRNRL1 and SlRNRL2 possess redundant functions and at least one of these RNRLs is required for tomato survival, growth and development.

Grain yield in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a polygenic trait representing many developmental processes and their interactions with environment. Among them, tillering capacity is an important agronomic trait for plant architecture and grain yield, but the genetic basis of tiller formation in wheat remains largely unknown. In this study, we identified a tiller inhibition mutant (tin5) from ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) treated G1812 (Triticum urartu Thumanjan ex Gandilyan). A mapping population was constructed with tin5/G3146. Based on the sequence differences between G1812 and G3146, large InDels (≧5 bp) were selected and verified, and a skeleton physical map was constructed with genome-wide 168 polymorphic InDel markers. Genetic analysis revealed that the low-tiller phenotype was controlled by a single recessive locus, which we named TIN5. This locus was mapped to a 2.1-Mb region that contained 24 annotated genes in chromosome Tu7. Among these annotated genes, 16 genes expressed at the seedling stage, but only TuG1812G0700004539 showed a non-synonymous polymorphism between tin5 and WT. Our finding will facilitate its map-based cloning and pave the way for an in-depth analysis of the underlying genetic basis of tillering formation and regulation patterns.

As a successful anti-tumor drug target, the family of histone deacetylases (HDACs) is also a critical player in immune response, making the research of anti-inflammatory HDAC inhibitors an attractive new focus. In this report, triterpenoids nigranoic acid (NA) and manwuweizic acid (MA) were identified as HDAC inhibitors through docking-based virtual screening and enzymatic activity assay. A series of derivatives of NA and MA were synthesized and assessed for their biological effects. As a result, hydroxamic acid derivatives of NA and MA showed moderately increased activity for HDAC1/2/4/6 inhibition (the lowest IC50 against HDAC1 is 1.14 μM), with no activity against HDAC8. In J774A.1 macrophage, compound 1–3, 13 and 17–19 demonstrated inhibitory activity against lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and IL-1β production, without affecting cell viability. Compound 19 increased the histone acetylation level in J774A.1 cells, as well as inhibited IL-1β maturation and caspase-1 cleavage. These results indicated that compound 19 blocks the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, probably related to HDAC inhibition. This work provided a natural scaffold for developing low-cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory HDAC inhibitors, as well as a class of tool molecules for studying the relationship between HDACs and NLRP3 activation.

Four new diterpenoids, rubellawus A-D (1-4), along with three known compounds, were isolated and identified from the flowers of Callicarpa rubella. Their structures were elucidated by various spectroscopic analysis. All the compounds were screened for their anti-inflammatory activity and 14α-hydroxyisopimaric acid and isopimaric acid showed significant NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitory activity with IC50 values of 7.02 and 3.99 μM.

The long non‑coding RNA (lncRNA) MCM3AP antisense 1 (MCM3AP‑AS1) has previously been shown to be a key regulator of multiple types of cancer; however whether it is important in the context of ovarian cancer (OC) is uncertain. The present study determined that MCM3AP‑AS1 expression in samples from patients with OC was significantly increased, and was associated with tumor stage, presence of lymph node metastases and poorer overall survival. The role of this lncRNA was investigated in vitro, and it was observed that knockdown of MCM3AP‑AS1 impaired OC cell proliferation, migration and colony formation. Similarly, it disrupted tumor growth in vivo. The present study further determined that MCM3AP‑AS1 was able to directly interact with microRNA (miRNA or miR)‑143‑3p as a competing endogenous (ce)RNA for this miRNA, thereby regulating the expression of transforming growth factor‑β‑activated kinase 1 (TAK1), a known target of miR‑143‑3p in OC. Consistent with this, inhibition of miR‑143‑3p was sufficient to partially reverse the effects of MCM3AP‑AS1‑knockdown, which inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of OC cells. Together, these results indicate that MCM3AP‑AS1 serves as an oncogenic lncRNA in OC by binding to miR‑143‑3p and thereby promoting TAK1 expression, and suggest that this lncRNA may be a possible target for therapy in OC.

Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR), functioning in the de novo synthesis of dNTPs, is crucial for DNA replication and cell cycle progression. However, the knowledge about the RNR in plants is still limited. In this study, we isolated ylc1 (young leaf chlorosis 1) mutant, which exhibited many development defects such as dwarf stature, chlorotic young leaf, and smaller fruits. Map-based cloning, complementation, and knocking-out experiments confirmed that YLC1 encodes a large subunit of RNR (SlRNRL1), an enzyme involved in the de novo biosynthesis of dNTPs. Physiological and transcriptomic analyses indicate that SlRNRL1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell cycle, chloroplast biogenesis, and photosynthesis in tomato. In addition, we knocked out SlRNRL2 (a SlRNRL1 homolog) using CRISPR-Cas9 technology in the tomato genome, and found that SlRNRL2, possessing a redundant function with SlRNRL1, played a weak role in the formation of RNR complex due to its low expression intensity. Genetic analysis reveals that SlRNRL1 and SlRNRL2 are essential for tomato growth and development as the double mutant slrnrl1slrnrl2 is lethal. This also implies that the de novo synthesis of dNTPs is required for seed development in tomato. Overall, our results provide a new insight for understanding the SlRNRL1 and SlRNRL2 functions and the mechanism of de novo biosynthesis of dNTPs in plants.

In order to discover and develop the new HIV-1 NNRTIs, a series of 5-alkyl-6-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-ylalkyl)-2-mercaptopyrimidin-4(3H)-ones was synthesized and screened for their in vitro cytotoxicity against HIV-1. Most of the compounds we synthetized showed high activity against wild-type HIV-1 strain (IIIB) while IC50 values are in the range of 0.06–12.95 μM. Among them, the most active HIV-1 inhibitor was compound 6-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-5-ethyl-2-((2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxoethyl)thio)pyrimidin-4(3H)-one (5b), which exhibited similar HIV-1 inhibitory potency (IC50 = 0.06 μM, CC50 = 96.23 μM) compared with nevirapine (IC50 = 0.04 μM, CC50 >200 μM) and most of compounds exhibited submicromolar IC50 values indicating they were specific RT inhibitors. The compounds 5b, 6-(benzo[d] [1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-5-ethyl-2-((2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxoethyl)thio)pyrimidin-4(3H)-one (5c) and 4-(2-((4-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-5-ethyl-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl)thio)acetyl)phenylbenzo[d][1,3]dioxole-5-carboxylate (5r) were selected for further study. It was found that all of them had little toxicity to peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC), and had a good inhibitory effect on the replication of HIV-1 protease inhibitor resistant strains, fusion inhibitor resistant strains and nucleosides reverse transcriptase inhibitor resistant strains, as well as on clinical isolates. Besides, compound 5b and 5c showed inhibition of HIV-1 RT RNA-dependent DNA polymerization activity and DNA-dependent DNA polymerization activity, while compound 5r only showed inhibition of HIV DNA-dependent DNA polymerization activity, which was different from classical reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Our study which offered the preliminary structure-activity relationships and modeling studies of these new compounds has provided the valuable avenues for future molecular optimization.

In order to discover and develop the new RSK kinase inhibitor, 50 pyridyl biaryl derivatives were designed and synthesized with LJH685 as the lead compound and their anti-tumor ability was tested. The results showed that the ability of 7d compound to inhibit the phosphorylation of YB-1 was comparable to that of LJH685. Among them, after preliminary screening, compound 7d showed good activity in inhibiting cell proliferation. Therefore, we took 7d as an example and performed molecular docking analysis on it. Judging from the overlapping combination diagram with LJH685, the results have verified that compound 7d has a similar skeleton to LJH685 and has a similar docking effect with RSK. Therefore, compound 7d is in line with the RSK inhibitor we designed and could be developed to a promising anti-tumor drug in the future.

Fe and Zn are essential micronutrients for plant growth, and the interrelationship regarding their homeostasis is very complicated. In this study, we identified a FIT-binding protein (FBP) using the yeast two-hybrid system. The C-terminus of FBP binds to the bHLH domain of FIT, abolishing the DNA-binding capacity of FIT. Knockout of FBP results in an enhanced expression of NAS genes and a higher nicotianamine content, and the fbp mutant exhibits tolerance to excessive Zn. Physiological analyses reveal that the mutant fbp retains a larger amount of Zn in roots and transfers a greater proportion of Fe to shoots than that in wild type under Zn-excessive stress. As FBP is expressed in the root stele, the negative regulation caused by sequestration of FIT is restricted to this tissue, whereas other FIT-regulated genes, such as IRT1 and FRO2, which mainly expressed in root epidermis, do not show transcriptional upregulation in the fbp mutant. As an antagonistic partner, FBP offers a new approach to spatially fine-tune the expression of genes controlled by FIT. In conclusion, our findings provide a new insight to understand the interrelationship of Fe and Zn homeostasis in plants.

Lactobacillus strains are used for their probiotic effects and fermentation properties. The colonization of 16 Lactobacillus strains was determined based on animal experimentation and Real-Time Quantitative PCR. Strains expressed varied amounts of colonization in the mouse gut environment, the best was shown by L. plantarum CCFM737 and L. casei CCFM736, followed by other L. plantarum and L. casei strains. L. plantarum CCFM737 and L. casei CCFM736 both colonized at a significant level for at least 2 wk. L. plantarum and L. casei showed the best biological properties, including gastrointestinal tolerance, antimicrobial activity, use of oligosaccharides, tolerance of gastrointestinal juices and adhesive properties, especially the antimicrobial properties. A significant correlation between colonization of L. plantarum and L. casei and biological properties was observed.

Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi is an important medicinal plant used worldwide. Information about the genome of this species is important for scientists studying the metabolic pathways that synthesise the bioactive compounds in this plant. Here, we report a draft reference genome sequence for S. baicalensis obtained by a combination of Illumina and PacBio sequencing, which was assembled using 10 X Genomics and Hi-C technologies. We assembled 386.63 Mb of the 408.14 Mb genome, amounting to about 94.73% of the total genome size, and the sequences were anchored onto 9 pseudochromosomes with a super-N50 of 33.2 Mb. The reference genome sequence of S. baicalensis offers an important foundation for understanding the biosynthetic pathways for bioactive compounds in this medicinal plant and for its improvement through molecular breeding.

Aim:Fructus aurantii (FA) is widely used in clinic as an expectorant and digestant herb in traditional Chinese medicine and proven to have a variety of pharmacological functions. FA is close to grapefruit either by botanical taxonomy or by their same components (flavonoids, etc.) and grapefruit has been proven to cause drug-drug interaction when co-administrated with CYP3A4 substrates. Besides, FA contains many compounds, such as flavonoids, which have been reported to impact the expressions of CYP450. However, the effect of FA on CYP450, whose change may affect drug safety and clinical efficacy attributed to drug-drug interaction, still remains unknown. Methods: The protein, mRNA expression and enzyme activity of CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 in rat were determined by Western Blotting, RT-PCR method, the cocktail method, respectively, after orally administration of FA in succession for 7 days. CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 mRNA expression were investigated in HepG2 cells following FA-medicated serum incubation for 24 h. Results: In rat, compared to the control group, CYP1A2, CYP3A4 protein, and mRNA expression were significantly induced consistent with the corresponding CYP activities; the protein expression of CYP2E1 was significantly upregulated, while the corresponding mRNA expression and enzyme activity showed no significant change. In HepG2 cells, compared to the control group, the mRNA expression of CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 was up-regulated statistically while CYP2E1 mRNA expression was not significantly induced or inhibited. Conclusion: FA may be a potential slight inducer of CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 and is unlikely to impact CYP2E1 until clinical researches are conducted.

Three-dimensional (3D) cell encapsulation in hydrogel provides superb methods to investigate the biochemical cues in directing cellular fate and behaviors outside the organism, the primary step of which is to establish suitable "blank platform" to mimic and simplify native ECM microenvironment. In this study, zwitterionic starch-based "clickable" hydrogels were fabricated via a "copper- and light- free" Michael-type "thiol-ene" addition reaction between acylated-modified sulfobetaine-derived starch (SB-ST-A) and dithiol-functionalized poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-SH). By incorporating antifouling SB-ST and PEG, the hydrogel system would be excellently protected from nontarget protein adsorption to act as a "blank platform". The hydrogels could rapidly gel under physiological conditions in less than 7 min. Dynamic rheology experiments suggested the stiffness of the hydrogel was close to the native tissues, and the mechanical properties as well as the gelation times and swelling behaviors could be easily tuned by varying the precursor proportions. The protein and cell adhesion assays demonstrated that the hydrogel surface could effectively resist nonspecific protein and cell adhesion. The degradation study in vitro confirmed that the hydrogel was biodegradable. A549 cells encapsulated in the hydrogel maintained high viability (up to 93%) and started to proliferate in number and extend in morphology after 2 days' culture. These results indicated the hydrogel presented here could be a potential candidate as "blank platform" for 3D cell encapsulation and biochemical cues induced cellular behavior investigation in vitro.

In this paper, the salinity domestication and mechanism of nitrite nitrogen removal ofAcinetobacter lwoffiiwere studied.The results showed that the optimum domestication salinityof the bacteria was 0.5% NaCl. It was speculated that the bacteria might have both oxidase andreductase, transform the nitrite nitrogen into ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen, and then usethem to synthesis the body protein. It also found that high concentrations of sodium nitrite hadinhibition effect on the bacteria growth.

A bacteria strain for efficiently removing nitrite nitrogen was isolated and purified from sediment in shrimp pond, and the morphology of bacteria was observed using scanning electron microscopy, and the homology analysisof 16SrDNA sequence of the strain was conducted. The results showed that the strain was identified as Acinetobacter baumanii according to the morphological characteristics, physiological and biochemical characteristics and 16SrDNA sequence analysis. The isolated strain had a high heterotrophic nitrification function, the removal rate of nitrite nitrogen reached 97.17% after 12 h.

A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, non-spore-forming bacterium, designated MLS-26-JM13-11T, was isolated from potato stems, collected in Guyuan County, Hebei Province, China. Strain MLS-26-JM13-11T could grow at 10–39 °C (optimum, 30 °C), pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.2) and in the presence of 0–4.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.0 % w/v). Phylogenetic analysis, based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, revealed that strain MLS-26-JM13-11T formed a stable clade with Sphingobacterium bambusae IBFC2009T and Sphingobacterium griseoflavum SCU-B140T, with the 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities ranging from 95.9 % to 97.0 %. The major cellular fatty acids comprised iso-C15 : 0 (36.9 %), summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c, 34.0 %), C16 : 0 (3.0 %) and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (13.4 %). Strain MLS-26-JM13-11T contained sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, six unknown lipids, one unknown aminolipid, four unknown polarlipids and two unknown aminophospholipids. The isoprenoid quinone was MK-7. The DNA G+C content was 42.6 mol%. Furthermore, the average nucleotide identity and in silico estimated DNA–DNA reassociation values among MLS-26-JM13-11T and S. bambusae KCTC 22814T were in all cases below the respective threshold for species differentiation. On the basis of phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic evidence, strain MLS-26-JM13-11T (=ACCC 60057T=JCM 32274T) represents a novel species within the genus Sphingobacterium , for which the name Sphingobacterium solani sp. nov. is proposed.

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels have gained comprehensive attention in the biomedical area. However, their resistance to cell adhesion is a drawback for applications such as tissue engineering. Besides, the controllability of the porous structure of PVA-based hydrogels during lyophilization needs to be further improved. Herein, we prepared PVA–carrageenan (CAR) composite hydrogels as tissue engineering scaffolds using the freeze–thaw technique. The hydrogels were found to possess deformation resistance, preserving their shape during the lyophilization process without shrinkage. Besides, ATDC5 cells showed good adherence and proliferation activity on the composite hydrogels. In addition, the PVA–CAR composite hydrogels possess good hemocompatibility and did not cause any adverse effects in the inflammatory response from RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. Overall, the results obtained indicate that the PVA–CAR composite hydrogels show potential applications in the field of tissue engineering based on their good structural stability, excellent biocompatibility and mild fabrication process.

Plants have evolved sophisticated genetic networks to regulate iron (Fe) homeostasis for their survival. Several classes of plant hormones including jasmonic acid (JA) have been shown to be involved in regulating the expression of iron uptake and/or deficiency-responsive genes in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms by which JA regulates iron uptake remain unclear. In this study, we found that JA negatively modulates iron uptake by downregulating the expression of FIT (bHLH29), bHLH38, bHLH39, bHLH100, and bHLH101 and promoting the degradation of FIT protein, a key regulator of iron uptake in Arabidopsis. We further demonstrated that the subgroup IVa bHLH proteins, bHLH18, bHLH19, bHLH20, and bHLH25, are novel interactors of FIT, which promote JA-induced FIT protein degradation. These four IVa bHLHs function redundantly to antagonize the activity of the Ib bHLHs (such as bHLH38) in regulating FIT protein stability under iron deficiency. The four IVa bHLH genes are primarily expressed in roots, and are inducible by JA treatment. Moreover, we found that MYC2 and JAR1, two critical components of the JA signaling pathway, play critical roles in mediating JA suppression of the expression of FIT and Ib bHLH genes, whereas they differentially modulate the expression of bHLH18, bHLH19, bHLH20, and bHLH25 to regulate FIT accumulation under iron deficiency. Taken together, these results indicate that by transcriptionally regulating the expression of different sets of bHLH genes JA signaling promotes FIT degradation, resulting in reduced expression of iron-uptake genes, IRT1 and FRO2, and increased sensitivity to iron deficiency. Our data suggest that there is a multilayered inhibition of iron-deficiency response in the presence JA in Arabidopsis.

DNA microarray technique can detect tens of thousands of genes activity in cells and has been widely used in clinical diagnosis. However, microarray data has the characteristics of high dimension and small samples, moreover many irrelevant and redundant genes also decrease performance of classification algorithm. Feature gene selection is an effective method to solve this problem. This paper proposes a hybrid feature gene selection method. Firstly, a lot of irrelevant genes from original data were eliminated by using reliefF algorithm, and the candidate feature genes subset is obtained; Secondly, Fuzzy neighborhood rough set with information entropy which deals directly with continuous data is proposed to reduce redundant genes among genes subset above. Here, differential evolution algorithm is used to optimize radius before reduction by using fuzzy neighborhood rough set, because radius of neighborhood greatly affects reduction performance. The simulation results on six microarray datasets indicate that our method can obtain higher classification accuracy by using as few genes as possible, especially feature genes selected are important for understanding microarray data and identifying the pathogenic genes. The results demonstrated that this method is effective and efficient for feature genes selection.

Under the laboratory conditions, the effect of temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, 30°C) on growth and biochemical composition of Sargassum muticum was studied, the results showed that: the optimum growth temperature of S.muticum was 15 °C in the range of 10-30 °C; the contents of chlorophyll a, carotenoid, soluble protein, soluble sugar and brown algae polyphenols were the highest at the temperature of 25 °C, it was speculated that these components appeared compensatory increase duo to the high temperature stress. The contents of these biochemical components were the lowest at 30 °C.

Under laboratory conditions, the absorption law of three kinds of nutrients by three species of algae was investigated, the results showed that: the concentration of nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen and activated phosphate in the culture medium reduced with the extension of time. Enteromorpha intestinalis,Sargassum fusiforme and Sargassum thunbergii showed the highest uptake for nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen and activated phosphate, respectively;S. fusiforme, E. intestinalis and S. fusiforme showed the lowest uptake for nitrate nitrogen,ammonium nitrogen and activated phosphate, respectively. It illustrated that macroalgae could effectively reduce nutrients from the surrounding water.

The effect of salinity (10,20,30,40,50) on the growth and biochemical composition of Sargassum thunbergii and Gracilaria verrucosa were investigated under the laboratory conditions, the results showed that: specific growth rate and chlorophyll a of Sargassum thunbergii and Gracilaria verrucosa were first increased and then decreased with the increase of salinity, the carotenoids content of Sargassum thunbergii in 10 salinity group and Gracilaria verrucosa in 40 salinity group were the maximum respectively. After comprehensive analysis, in the 10-50 salinity range, The optimal salinity for the growth of G.verrucosa and S. thunbergii were 20 and 30 respectively.

Allelopathic effect of Sargassum fusiforme on growth of Karenia mikimotoi was studied, the results showed that: fresh tissue and dry powder of S. fusiforme had a good inhibitory effect on the K. mikimotoi growth, and enhanced with the increase of mass concentration.The concentration dependence relationship was existed between S. fusiforme and K. mikimotoi. Aqueous extract of S. fusiforme had a promoting effect on K. mikimotoi at low concentration, and showed obvious inhibition at high concentration, in the 1.6 g/L of extract group, K. mikimotoi died on day 8. It illustrated that the inhibition of S. fusiforme on K. mikimotoi was implemented mainly by its soluble components.

Purification and antioxidation of glycosaminoglycan from Patinopecten yessoensis waste were studied. The results showed that the glycosaminoglycan contained characteristic functional groups like-OH(3424cm-1), -COO-(1653cm-1) and-NH(1567cm-1), -SO2(1414 cm-1), C-O-C(sugar ring,1044cm-1),, and it had good ability of scavenging DPPH free radicals and reducibility as well as metal chelating.

A new spectrofluorometric method was developed for determination of coenzyme II. We studied the interactions between balofloxacin–terbium(III) complex and coenzyme II by using ultraviolet–visible absorption and fluorescence spectra. While balofloxacin–terbium(III) was used as a fluorescence probe, under the optimum conditions, coenzyme II could remarkably enhance the fluorescence intensity of the balofloxacin–terbium(III) complex at λ = 545 nm, and the enhanced fluorescence intensity was in proportion to the concentration of coenzyme II. Optimum conditions for the determination of coenzyme II were also investigated. The dynamic range for the determination of coenzyme II was 6.0 × 10−8 to 6.0 × 10−6 mol L−1, and the detection limit (3σ/k) was 3.5 × 10−8 mol L−1. A new spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of trace amounts of coenzyme A using enoxacin–Tb3+ as a fluorescent probe. In the presence of periodic acid (H5IO6), coenzyme A could remarkably enhance the fluorescence intensity of the Tb3+–enoxacin complex at 545 nm at pH 5.4. The optimal conditions for the determination of coenzyme A were also investigated. This method could be successfully applied to assess coenzyme A in injection and biological samples. Moreover, the enhancement mechanism of the fluorescence intensity of the coenzyme A–Tb3+–enoxacin system in the presence of H5IO6 was also discussed.
