FOREST management ,COPPICE forests ,TREE height ,ECOLOGICAL resilience ,DISTRIBUTION management - Abstract
Examining forest stand structures is crucial for effective forest management, as it provides essential insights into current conditions and informs future strategies. Coppice systems, a historic forest management practice with centuries of documented use across various regions, play a vital role in supporting unique flora and fauna, making them integral to conservation efforts. This study has two primary objectives: (i) to evaluate how various forest management approaches impact species composition and structural characteristics of forest stands, and (ii) to assess and compare diversity within these stands using a range of indices. In this research, two management systems in Iran's Arasbaran forests were compared: the traditional coppice system and the coppice-with-standard (CWS) stands system. Fieldwork was conducted in 24 sample plots for each management system, where quantitative indicators and biodiversity indices were employed to evaluate and compare stand characteristics. The findings revealed that the CWS system exhibited higher mean values for tree height, diameter at the breast height (DBH), and basal area compared to the coppice system. Coppice stands had a sprout clump density of 546 per hectare, primarily composed of Quercus macranthera, while the CWS stands had a combined tree and sprout clump density of 421 per hectare. Diversity assessments showed that species diversity, as measured by Pielou's index, was higher in the coppice system (1.42) than in the CWS system (1.01). However, species richness, represented by the Menhinik index, was lower in both systems, with values of 0.31 for the coppice system and 0.19 for the CWS system. These results suggest that the CWS system is more effective in promoting growth and stand development, whereas the coppice system may better support biodiversity. The findings have practical implications for forest managers and policymakers in Iran and other regions with similar forest ecosystems. For instance, if the objective is to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem resilience, the coppice system—with its higher diversity indices—may be the preferred choice. On the other hand, if the aim is to boost timber production while maintaining a baseline level of biodiversity, the CWS system could be more suitable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WAREHOUSES , *DIGITAL technology , *TRANSPORTATION - Abstract
Digital transformation is a comprehensive approach. The processes of transforming the enterprise functioning through the business procedures digitization and the automation of implementation and management of specialized software for internal and external interactions as part of the country’s digital ecosystem form the basis of the approach. In this regard, as well as in the conditions of ensuring import substitution against sanctions policy, the most pressing issue is the development of domestic software for managing the domestic enterprises at various levels and agro-industrial spheres (AIC). It is the production process of agricultural enterprises, to a greater extent than enterprises of other industries, that is influenced by various risks caused by climatic, technological, biological, etc. factors. The article examines the provision of automation of transport and warehouse operations when managing logistics processes at an agricultural enterprise through the development of special software. A block diagram of the control process automation is presented, taking into account the level hierarchy, the architecture of the process control automation system, individual elements of the developed software product (the algorithm of the program for controlling an automatic pallet stacker, the visualization system: the pushbutton screen for information support and the main screen of the operator's touch panel). A mathematical model for a program to lay non-standard workpieces (packages) on a pallet with the optimization of their placement has been generated. The calculation of the project implementation economic efficiency is suggested. The payback period is five months, provided the operator has got the necessary competence level. The article concludes that a similar management system can be implemented at various enterprises with warehouse space (industrial, agricultural, service industries, cargo transportation, etc.) in order to reduce risks (related to technological, manmade and human factors) during loading and unloading of packaged raw materials and products, and considered as innovative resource-saving technology as well as the part of import substitution and adaptation of software when managing logistics processes in the context of digital transformation. SOIL management , *SOIL quality , *SOIL profiles , *FARMS , *SOIL degradation - Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of management systems on soil quality in rangeland and agricultural lands (smallholder, total owner, and Binaloud Company) in Neyshabur plain, northeastern Iran. Twenty-one soil profiles were described and sampled. The weighted and additive soil quality indices (SQI) of surface soil and soil profile (0–100 cm) were calculated. The minimum data set (MDS) was determined using principal component analysis (PCA) and expert opinion (EO) methods. The land index (LI) for alfalfa was calculated using the FAO method. In all management systems, the EO-weighted SQI was the highest for surface soil and soil profile. The relationship between the EO-weighted SQI and alfalfa yield was the strongest in the total owner and Binaloud Company. The LI showed a better relationship with the alfalfa yield than the SQI. The SQI of soil profile provides more comprehensive information regarding the different soil management systems. The LI, which considers crop requirements, could be useful in comparing the soil quality for a specific plant. The lower soil quality in smallholder system is an early warning sign of soil degradation in the area. Furthermore, the SQI has sufficient capability to reveal the effects of the land exploitation systems on soil quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Modern realities indicate that improving the efficiency of management processes is impossible without the use of information and software that should be integrated into the management system. Therefore, the article explores the importance of this integration in the context of globalized markets, emphasizing its role in increasing competitiveness, introducing innovations and making operational and strategic decisions. It is noted that the main advantages of integration are: increased management efficiency through automation of routine tasks, increased control over own operations; improved coordination between departments through the use of a single database, simplification of information exchange and promotion of more effective cooperation; informed decision-making through access to real-time data; reduction of costs for personnel, paper and other resources; gaining competitive advantages in such areas as marketing, sales, production and logistics. It is emphasized that the information support of international enterprises has moved to a new level, where information has not only become an information resource, but also performs important functions in management. By using advanced analytics and business intelligence tools, international companies can gain strategic insights for further development, identify market trends, and make informed operational decisions that meet their current and global goals. The existing unified software of the leading ERP-systems vendors that can be used in the management of an enterprise, in particular, an international company, is analyzed. Given that the changing conditions of enterprise functioning require an individual approach and the creation of a custom-made product, a comparative characterization of unified and individual software products is carried out. An example of individual software products that take into account the specifics of certain enterprises is the software developed with the participation of the authors for enterprises in the water transport and insurance industries. With a view to optimizing the process of using information and software in the management of an international enterprise, the authors propose an appropriate mechanism. For its successful implementation, it is necessary to take into account that the integration of information technology is a complex process that requires careful planning and implementation, in particular, the factor of financing and staff training. As modern international businesses continue to evolve and adapt to change, the use of information and software is becoming a critical success factor. High-tech management solutions allow companies to respond effectively to global market challenges and remain competitive in an ever-changing business environment.

The Russian economy is currently lagging behind developed nations in terms of innovation, which necessitates adopting relevant approaches to managing socio-economic systems to keep them competitive and ensure their sustainable develop ment. Large corporations have significant resource potential and social power, which makes it relevant to improve management of their entrepreneurial activity that stimulates innovation development. The paper aims to judge the quality of entrepreneurial management systems at large corporations and evaluate their innovation performance. Corporate governance theory and man agement theory constitute the methodological framework of the study. The research methods used are qualitative, regression and comparative analysis. The empirical data are obtained from 160 corporations included in 2023 RAEX-600 Ranking and rep resenting 21 industrial sectors, as well as data from the RF Federal State Statistics Service and the All-Russia data system on com panies and business “For Honest Business” for the period of 2010–2022. The study identifies 19 elements of the entrepreneurial management system at large corporations, e.g., the presence of an R&D center, startup support, commitment to open innovation, a corporate venture fund, etc., and assesses how intensively they are used across industries. As for the innovation performance of the system under review, no statistical relationship was observed between performance indicators of many corporations and the volume of shipped innovative products. Thus, the research reveals that entrepreneurial management systems at a large number of corporations lack innovation performance, which requires further research into their quality.

The development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) infrastructure is one of the priority areas of managerial thought in the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Commercial use of high-latitude caravan routes in the waters of the NSR should significantly change the situation with the organization of logistical maritime flows around the Eurasian continent. Ensuring uninterrupted traffic along with fulfilment of the conditions of urgency of delivery and cargo safety form the category of stability of the NSR functioning. Its northern part runs exclusively in domestic seas, and ensuring regular vessel traffic is Russia’s priority task in the competition for transporting cargo from east to west (and back) by sea. The movement of ships along the NSR falls directly under the authority of the management of Rosatom State Corporation, while the management of the infrastructure that ensures the continuous movement of transport along the NSR is carried out collegially. At the same time, such an important aspect as the management of the infrastructure complex supporting the movement of container ships with transit cargo has been assigned to three components of a single management entity: the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, and Rosatom Corporation, without clearly defining the boundaries of responsibility for interdepartmental management decisions. To date, this approach has already caused a series of organizational and technical difficulties. The aim of the study is to identify the rational organization of the infrastructure of the management subject, allowing to ensure the sustainability of the movement of passenger and cargo ships throughout the water area of the NSR; it is based on such scientific methods as induction, systematization, grouping Key results of the work may be in demand both in the course of scientific research in the field of infrastructure development in the regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, and in the framework of improving the existing management system of aviation infrastructure of these territories.

CONSTRUCTION industry accidents , *ACCIDENT prevention , *LEARNING Management System , *BUILDING sites , *CONSTRUCTION management - Abstract
The significance of accident prevention in the construction industry has been consistently emphasized. Despite the research into various preventive methodologies, their application in actual construction sites still needs to be improved. Therefore, it is necessary to develop accident prevention methodologies and make improvements so that practitioners can utilize them in actual construction sites. This study sets out to propose methods for accident prevention using construction accident data and to develop a system that construction practitioners can easily utilize. Firstly, a methodology was developed to assess the risk of construction sites by considering site-specific characteristics through actual construction accident data. This led to the identification of five principal risk factors (i.e., construction type, facility type, ordering organization, construction cost, and safety management plan), and the results of risk assessment for different site classifications were derived by combining these factors. Then, machine-learning models were developed to predict accident-causing objects, accident types, and injury-death using four algorithms: random forest, light gradient boosting model, eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and categorical boosting. As a result, XGBoost demonstrated the most outstanding predictive performance, with averaged F1 scores of 0.839, 0.749, and 0.977, respectively. A web-based prototype was also developed to deploy the proposed methods, confirming the practical utility of the accident prevention strategies outlined in this research. These findings have the potential to improve the efficacy of site management by enabling proactive identification of high-risk areas, thereby promoting more effective accident prevention initiatives. To address the challenges of effectively managing and professionally utilizing massive geospatial data in the railway surveying process, this paper presented an automated management and publishing method based on the ERDAS APOLLO spatial GIS engine. By integrating the characteristics of data at various stages of railway surveying, a standardized process for data organization, storage, processing, and sharing was established. A method for collecting and verifying railway geospatial metadata was developed, enabling rapid data entry and attribute acquisition for railway geospatial information. A system architecture with separate data, service, and application layers was designed in a B/ S (Browser/ Server) mode for the distribution and display of multi-source geospatial information. Utilizing Asp. Net, Vue. js, and the Cesium mapping framework. A railway multi-source geospatial data management system was developed in a front-end and backend separated architecture, achieving unified data management and shared application. A survey project with a total data volume exceeding 600 GB was selected as a case study to verify the system's capabilities in data management, checking, verification, and visualization. The research indicates that the automated data management and service publishing process significantly reduce the costs associated with data storage, processing, and maintenance. The integrated map and attribute approach enhances the efficiency of data retrieval and increases the value of data utilization, effectively serving the application needs of the railway design profession for geospatial information data. Effective assessment and management of groundwater quality are essential for safeguarding the integrity of freshwater resources. Cooch Behar Municipality of West Bengal has been chosen for the present study due to its reliance primarily on groundwater for drinking water. The study focuses on assessing groundwater quality in the study area, a planned city with a long history of urbanization. The primary objective is to analyze various parameters relevant to drinking water and compute the Water Quality Index (WQI) with the residents' perception. Forty water samples were collected from Cooch Behar Municipality's Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, encompassing all 20 wards. Each ward provided one sample from a Deep Tube Well (DTW) and a Shallow Tube Well (STW). EC, Fe, TH, Mn, pH, TDS, Turbidity, Ca, and Mg levels were determined using standard instruments and methods, and analyzed geospatial techniques and statistical methods were employed. Results revealed concerning levels of manganese (Mn) and total hardness (TH), exceeding permissible limits in 82.5% and 75% of samples, respectively. While some parameters remained within acceptable limits, computed WQI values ranged from 63.28 to 162.67, indicating significant overall water quality concerns. Alarmingly, 45% of samples were unsuitable for drinking, with an additional 40% classified as very poor. Notably, demographic factors such as household income and education level correlated with perceptions of poor water quality. Policy implications suggest the urgent need for a well‐structured management system to address these findings and ensure safe drinking water for residents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, two companies that produce foods associated with potential risks of cross-contamination (gluten-free foods and frozen pastry, respectively) and are certified according to international voluntary FS standards, such as the British Retail Council Global Standard (BRC) and the International Featured Standards Food Version (IFS), were investigated to assess: (a) if the assessment of FS culture's pillars can uncover unexpected critical areas; (b) if the scores of the FS culture's pillars are related to personal traits, namely, age, seniority in the company and locus of control orientation, i.e., the beliefs that an event is the result of external factors (luck, destiny or superior beings), or the result of internal factors (human behavior). Questionnaires for the survey and the scoring system applied were selected from the literature. Results showed that all food handlers had an optimistic bias, which paradoxically could be the consequence of the rigorous application of hygienic procedures. The younger food handlers had significantly (p < 0.05) lower commitment than the older ones. Moreover, the segment of food handlers having an external locus orientation demonstrated weaker normative beliefs than those having an internal locus of control orientation. Results showed that the FS culture survey, which is related to the shared FS culture, could disclose unknown weakness in third-party certified companies, even if the well implemented principles of voluntary FS standards are aligned with the FS-culture pillars. Moreover, the segmentation of food handlers according to their age and the locus of control assessment could provide additional information on the individual orientation toward FS behavior. Hence these tools could assist the leaders in the management of the dynamic nature of human capital. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to COVID-19, the need for online education has increased worldwide, prompting students to shift from traditional learning methods to online platforms as guided by higher education departments. Higher learning institutes are focused on developing constructive online learning platforms. This research aims to measure students’ academic performance on an online learning platform – Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) – using machine learning techniques. Moodle LMS, a popular free and open-source system, has seen significant growth since the COVID-19 lockdown. Many researchers have analyzed student performance in online learning, yet there remains a need to predict academic outcomes effectively. In this study, data were collected from a higher learning institute in Tamil Nadu, and linear regression was applied to predict students' final course outcomes. The analysis, based on students' activity in Moodle LMS across both theory and laboratory courses, helps faculty identify students at risk of failing and adjust instructional methods and assignments accordingly. This approach aims to reduce failure rates by providing timely warnings and encouraging students to improve their engagement with LMS resources.

Today's business environment infers organizational competitiveness that encourages organizations to adopt standardized systems that facilitate effective business management. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) promote economic growth and equitable development; however, few works offer approaches that include the dynamics and resource constraints of SMEs. Hence, this paper proposes a method for integrating management systems in SMEs that articulates the continuous management cycle of Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA), with a four-phase implementation sequence: (1) Direction, (2) Structuration, (3) Application, (4) Evaluation and Improvement. It also discusses how SMEs can integrate their management systems with the knowledge necessary to reduce or mitigate risks arising from the organization's interactions with its stakeholders. This research advances the proposal of a practical sequence for building and implementing the integrated management system and presents the key strategic, operational and human factors as an innovative element to facilitate the understanding, implementation, evaluation and improvement of the IMS in SMEs.

Requirements of the international standard ISO 45001:2018 were analysed to identify the need for monitoring, measuring and analysing the functioning of the occupational health and safety management system. This analysis has made it clear that the effectiveness of the development and implementation of the occupational health and safety management system depends on the assessment methodology. The study focused on existing studies and publications on the assessment of processes, including those related to occupational safety, assessment methods or qualitative methods, and statistical methods used for assessment. As a result, the topic has been proven relevant, and the goal of the article was determined: to study the possibility of using qualimetric methods for evaluating the labour safety management system. A survey was conducted among workers at a machine-building enterprise to evaluate the occupational health and safety management system. Verbal scales were proposed to process the study results as they allow quantitative ratings to be obtained on the coded scale of the desirability function. The study result is a technique for obtaining a quantitative assessment of the occupational health and safety management system. This technique is universal and can be applied to any enterprise. It can also be used to make managerial decisions regarding the improvement of the occupational health and safety management system.

To address the complexities of national park management within China, this study investigated the evolutionary game between central and local governments in the context of Sanjiangyuan National Park, to explore strategic behavior and goal displacement issues. This research dissected the interplay and strategy evolution between governmental levels, considering the diverse interests, policy interpretations, and resource allocations that often lead to strategic misalignments. Employing an evolutionary game theory framework, we integrated a literature review and numerical simulations to delineate the dynamics of central–local governmental interactions. Our results underscore the pivotal role of strategic alignment in ensuring ecological conservation and socioeconomic development. The findings reveal that under certain conditions, characterized by minimization of rent-seeking behavior, cost-effective management, and risk mitigation, an evolutionarily stable strategy promoting optimal park management can emerge. This study concludes that a cooperative framework, underpinned by aligned incentives and strategic coherence between governmental levels, is critical for sustainable management of national parks. It contributes to understanding of governance models in national parks, offers insights into policy formulation and implementation within the ongoing environmental reform initiatives in China, reveals the behavioral strategies within national park management systems, and supports policy recommendations for enhancing governance quality and management efficiency. Illegal construction is not only a hot issue of growing concern to urban residents but also a key problem in daily urban management, which negatively impacts social harmony. This study focuses on the governance of illegal land use and construction (two violations) in urban areas. It addresses the technical challenges of hidden and diverse forms of "two violations", easy recurrence, limited discovery channels, and difficult data collection. It also addresses the issues of weak business connectivity, poor standardization, difficult-to-use land after dismantling, and low utilization rate in the governance of "two violations". In this study, we designed a closed-loop process for urban land spatial governance of "classification, demolition, land vacation, and utilization", studied technologies such as integrated collection and intelligent identification of "star-sky-land network", and coordinated on-site verification of internal and external industries. A spatial governance platform was developed, fundamentally changing the discovery, identification, monitoring, verification, and service modes in the original "two violations" governance work. Background and Objectives: The effectiveness of a quality management system consistent with the ISO 9001 standard depends on how quality objectives are established and pursued. The aims of this article are to identify quality objectives in selected certified organizations providing medical services, assess their compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, and determine factors influencing such objectives. Methods: The first theoretical part of the article is based on a systematic literature review. The empirical part contains an analysis of documentation related to quality management systems and conducted audits. The data were collected during 42 quality management system audits conducted in 16 health care organizations in the years 2015-2020. Uncategorized interviews were conducted with quality management system representatives. The data were verified by interviews with 6 management system auditors having at least 15 years’ experience in auditing health care organizations. The assessment of the methodological correctness is based on the ISO 9001:2015 standard criteria. Results: The most frequently formulated quality objectives include improving customer satisfaction, task-based objectives related to planned works, improvements, and development of new medical services. The quality objectives fulfill the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard. However, they are not ambitious. The most significant factors influencing the processes of goal setting are economic (financial incentives, available resources for modernization), social (community needs), and managerial (the scope of performed analyses, the quality of the audit process, and the calculation of necessary effort). Conclusions: Health care organizations need to pursue more ambitious objectives, intensify the use of performed medical analyses, and integrate quality objectives into management remuneration systems. Context. Information systems for inventory management are used to forecast, manage, coordinate, and monitor the resources needed to move goods smoothly, in a timely, cost-effective, and reliable manner. The more efficiently the system works, the better results a company can achieve. A common problem with existing performance measurement methods is the difficulty of interpreting the relationship between performance indicators and the factors that influence them. Objective. The purpose of the study is to describe a method for evaluating the effectiveness of information systems, which allows to establish a link between performance indicators and factors that influenced these indicators. Method. A set of indicators characterizing the effective operation of inventory management information systems is proposed. The rules for quantifying the factors that influence the performance indicators are proposed. The factors arise during events that affect the change in order, delivery, balance, target inventory level, parameters of the forecasting algorithm, etc. The proposed method performs an iterative distribution of the quantitative value of factors among performance indicators and thus establishes the relationship between performance indicators and factors. Results. The implementation of the proposed method in the software was carried out and calculations were made on actual data. Conclusions. The calculations carried out on the basis of the method have demonstrated the dependence of performance indicators on factors. The use of the method allows identifying the reasons for the decrease in efficiency and making the company’s management more efficient. Prospect for further research may be to detail the factors, optimize software implementations, and use the method in inventory management information systems in various areas of activity.
