The estimation of a postmortem interval (PMI) is particularly important for forensic investigations. The aim of this study was to assess the succession of bacterial communities associated with the decomposition of mouse cadavers and determine the most important biomarker taxa for estimating PMIs. High-throughput sequencing was used to investigate the bacterial communities of gravesoil samples with different PMIs, and a random forest model was used to identify biomarker taxa. Redundancy analysis was used to determine the significance of environmental factors that were related to bacterial communities. Our data showed that the relative abundance of Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes showed an increasing trend during decomposition, but that of Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria and Chloroflexi decreased. At the genus level, Pseudomonas was the most abundant bacterial group, showing a trend similar to that of Proteobacteria. Soil temperature, total nitrogen, NH4+-N and NO3−-N levels were significantly related to the relative abundance of bacterial communities. Random forest models could predict PMIs with a mean absolute error of 1.27 days within 36 days of decomposition and identified 18 important biomarker taxa, such as Sphingobacterium, Solirubrobacter and Pseudomonas. Our results highlighted that microbiome data combined with machine learning algorithms could provide accurate models for predicting PMIs in forensic science and provide a better understanding of decomposition processes. Microbial degradation of keratin-containing wastes is an eco-friendly and low-cost approach to recycle agricultural byproducts. Bacillus licheniformis has been previously reported as a highly effective feather-degrading bacterium. The aim of the present study was to screen a higher keratinase-yielding mutant by ultraviolet (UV) mutagenesis, assess the effect of hydrolysate on the growth of Chinese cabbage and reveal the changes in the mutant genome. After UV mutagenesis, the UV25-4 mutant was identified as the most efficient mutant. Compared with the ZSZ6 strain, the UV25-4 strain increased the feather degradation rate and the maximum keratinase activity by 25.6% and 110.9%, respectively (p < 0.05). The differences were also reflected in the release of total nitrogen and amino acids in the hydrolysates (p < 0.05). The hydrolysate of UV25-4 significantly increased the growth and quality of Chinese cabbage in terms of plant height, dry weight, vitamin C, soluble sugar and protein levels (p < 0.05). The comparative genomics analysis detected 49 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and 19 insertion deletions. The present findings indicated that UV mutagenesis is an effective strategy to obtain efficient feather-degrading strains and that feather hydrolysates may be used as amendments to enhance the growth and quality of vegetables. • Feather degradation efficiency of Bacillus licheniformis was improved by UV mutagenesis. • Hydrolysate of strain UV25-4 improved the growth and quality of Chinese cabbage. • UV radiation induced the change of 49 single nucleotide polymorphisms and 19 insertion deletions. A Gram-stain-negative, non-spore-forming and strictly aerobic bacterial strain, designated R-7 T , was isolated from river sediment in Wuxi, Jiangsu, PR China. Cells (1.6-3.8 µm long and 0.6-0.8 µm wide) were slightly curved to straight rods and motile by means of a polar flagellum. The strain grew optimally on Reasoner's 2A medium at 30 °C, pH 7.0 and with 1.0% (w/v) NaCl. Strain R-7 T exhibited closest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities to Dongia mobilis CGMCC 1.7660 T (95.4%), D. rigui 04SU4-P T (94.6%) and D. soli D78 T (93.8%). The phylogenetic trees based on genomic and 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain R-7 T was clustered in the genus Dongia . The obtained average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between R-7 T and the three type strains of the genus Dongia were 73.4, 72.8 and 72.4% and 19.5, 19.0 and 18.7%, respectively. The major respiratory quinone was Q-10. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, three unidentified aminolipids, two unidentified aminophospholipids and nine unidentified polar lipids. The major cellular fatty acids (>5% of the total) were cyclo-C 19 : 0  ω 8 c , C 16 : 0 and C 16 : 0 2-OH. The DNA G+C content was 65.5 mol%. On the basis of the evidence presented in this study, strain R-7 T represents a novel species of the genus Dongia , for which the name Dongia sedimenti sp. nov. is proposed, with strain R-7 T (=KCTC 8082 T =MCCC 1K08805 T ) as the type strain.

Objectives: This study aimed to summarize the most effective evidence on nonpharmacological interventions for the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster in lung cancer patients and to provide evidence-based management methods for clinical team and lung cancer patients., Methods: Guided by the "6S" pyramid model, we retrieved evidence on fatigue, pain, and sleep disturbance management from relevant websites and databases, and unpublished gray literature was also searched. The time frame of the search ranged from database establishment to September 30, 2023. Two researchers independently evaluated the literature quality using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) for guidelines, and the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews II (AMSTAR II) for systematic reviews. Two people independently extracted and summarized the evidence according to the first principle of high-quality evidence and newly published evidence. The included evidence was graded by the JBI Evidence Pre-Grading System., Results: A total of 52,238 articles were retrieved, of which 60 articles, including 18 guidelines, 18 JBI best practice recommendations, one Up To Date clinical practice, and 23 systematic reviews, were included. Overall, 49 pieces of evidence from six dimensions-screening, assessment, management, education, referral, and follow-up-were summarized. Forty-three pieces of evidence were level 1, three pieces of evidence were level 4, and three pieces of evidence were level 5., Conclusions: The best 49 pieces of evidence on nonpharmacological interventions for the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster in lung cancer patients were summarized in this study, and these nonpharmacological interventions are scientific and comprehensive., Implications for Nursing Practice: This study can provide guidance for clinical team to improve the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster management. A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated LG-2 T , was isolated from sludge collected at a pesticide-manufacturing factory in Jiangsu Province, PR China. Cells of strain LG-2 T were strictly aerobic, non-motile and spherical. Growth was observed at 15-42 °C (optimum, 30 °C), pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and 0-3.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.0 %). LG-2 T showed 95.5-96.9 % 16S rRNA sequence similarity to type strains in the genera Pusillimonas , Bordetella , Parapusillimonas , Candidimonas and Paracandidimonas of the family Alcaligenaceae . The phylogenomic tree indicated that strain LG-2 T was clustered in the family Alcaligenaceae and formed a clade with Paracandidimonas soli IMT-305 T , while the phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain LG-2 T formed a distinct clade within the family Alcaligenaceae . The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values between LG-2 T and its closely related type strains in the genera Pusillimonas , Bordetella , Parapusillimonas , Candidimonas and Paracandidimonas were 70.8-75.3, 18.9-23.7 and 59.6 %-69.3 %, respectively. The major cellular fatty acids were C 16 : 0 , C 17 : 0 cyclo, summed feature 3 (C 16 : 1  ω7 c and/or C 16 : 1  ω6 c ), summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1  ω7 c and/or C 18 : 1  ω6 c ) and summed feature 2 (C 12 : 0 aldehyde and/or unknown 10.928). The predominant menaquinone was Q-8. The polar lipid profile consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, two aminophospholipids, three aminolipids and nine unknown polar lipids. The genome size of strain LG-2 T was 3.2 Mb and the DNA G+C content was 63.4 mol%. On the basis of the phenotypic, phylogenetic and genomic results from this study, strain LG-2 T represents a novel species of a new genus in the family Alcaligenaceae , for which the name Yanghanlia caeni gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed, with strain LG-2 T (=KCTC 8084 T = CCTCC AB 2023123 T ) as the type strain.

A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated as R-40 T , was isolated from sediment of the Mulong river in Mianyang city, Sichuan province, PR China. The cells of strain R-40 T were aerobic non-motile and formed translucent white colonies on R2A agar. Growth occurred at 15-37 °C (optimum 30 °C), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum 7.0) and salinities of 0-3.0 % (w/v, optimum 0 %). R-40 T showed 95.2-96.6 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities with the type strains of species of the genera Oxalicibacterium , Herminiimonas , Lacisediminimonas , Paucimonas, Herbaspirillum and Noviherbaspirillum in the family Oxalobacteraceae . The results of phylogenetic analysis based on genome sequences indicated that the strain was clustered with type strains of species of the genera Oxalicibacterium and Herminiimonas in the family Oxalobacteraceae but formed a distinct lineage. The average nucleotide identity (ANI), digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) and average amino acid identity (AAI) values between R-40 T and type strains of species of the genera Oxalicibacterium , Herminiimonas , Lacisediminimonas , Paucimonas, Herbaspirillum and Noviherbaspirillum ranged from 69.3 to 74.1 %, from 18.2 to 21.4 % and from 60.1 to 67.4 %, respectively. The major cellular fatty acids were C 16 : 0 , C 17 : 0 cyclo and summed feature 3 (C 16 : 1 ω7 c and/or C 16 : 1 ω6 c ). The major quinone was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8). The polar lipid profile consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phospholipid and small amounts of glycophospholipids. The genome size of R-40 T was 5.1 Mbp with 54.0 % DNA G+C content. On the basis of the evidence presented in this study, strain R-40 T represents a novel species of a novel genus in the family Oxalobacteraceae , for which the name Keguizhuia sedimenti gen. nov., sp. nov. (type strain R-40 T =MCCC 1K08818 T =KCTC 8137 T ) is proposed.

Objective: To study the diurnal variation of net photosynthetic rate (P(n)) and main influencing factors in different types of Pueraria thomsonii, aimed at providing the theoretical basis for breeding the fine varieties of P. thomsonii suitable for the local light condition., Method: Diurnal variations of photosynthesis in leaves of different types of P. thomsonii were determined with the Li-6400 Portable Photosynthesis System., Result: (1) Diurnal variation of P(n), transpiration Rate (T(r)), stomatal conductance (G(s)) in leaves of six varieties of P. thomsonii showed unimodal curve and asymmetric bimodal curve. Diurnal variation of water use efficiency (WUE), intercellular CO2 concentration (C(i)) showed single valley curve. Diurnal variation curve of stomatal limitation value (L(s)) was single peak and S-type. (2) P(n) in leaves of six varieties of P. thomsonii was positively correlated with photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), air temperature (T(a)), G(s), and negatively correlated with air relative humidity (RH), C(i), P(n) of all varieties were very significantly correlated with PAR, G(s)., Conclusion: Diurnal variations of photosynthesis in leaves of different types of P. thomsonii show significant difference. Jiuding, Chuanyu, Gange, Dijin No. 1 planted in Ya'an overcome "midday depression" phenomenon. Hechuan has the greatest photosynthetic potential, suitable for planting in forest understory and intercropping with high stalk to avoid the strong flashes. Planted in long-day region was beneficial to its growth. CO2 use efficiency of Geboshi No. 11 and Dijin No. 1 were significantly higher than that of the others. The accumulation efficiency of organics can be increased in cultivation management by fertilizing CO2.
