Zaključna seminarska naloga se ukvarja z raziskovanjem motiva boja med vitezom in polžem kot pogostim pojavom v marginah srednjeveških rokopisov. Osrednje vprašanje, ki ga naloga raziskuje, je pomen motiva v kontekstu srednjeveške Anglije, natančneje Vzhodne Anglije oz. vzhodnoangleške šole iluminacije. Prvo poglavje se posveča marginalijam srednjeveških rokopisov nasploh: kje in kdaj se prvič pojavi marginalni okras ter kako se tekom stoletij razvija. Sledi raziskava pomena motiva polža kot samostojnega motiva znotraj umetnosti, ki se mu v 13. stoletju kot nasprotnik postavi vitez. V četrtem poglavju sta predstavljena zgodovina in razvoj vzhodnoangleške šole iluminacije, njen pomen in vpliv na nadaljnjo umetnost. V iskanju najverjetnejših možnih interpretacij motiva so nato izpostavljeni trije vzhodnoangleški rokopisi, znotraj katerih je motiv natančneje interpretiran. This bachelor thesis focuses on the research of the knight and snail combat motif, which is a common sight in the margins of medieval manuscripts. It researches the meaning and variations of the motif in the context of medieval England, especially Eastern England and East Anglian School of illumination. The first chapter explores the emergence of manuscript marginalia in general, when and where it first appeared and how it developed over time. What follows is the explanation of the snail as a motif in visual arts, followed up by the knight and snail combat motif, which appeared in the 13th century. In the fourth chapter the history and activity of the East Anglian School of illumination is presented, alongside its significance and influence in later art. To exemplify the different possible interpretations of the motif and the importance of the context, three manuscripts attributed to the East Anglian school of illumination are presented. The motif of the knight – snail combat is individually interpreted.

U prilogu se Barakovićeve marginalije analiziraju s obzirom na grafički izgled, s obzirom na sadržaj i s obzirom na funkciju, te se konstatira da svaki od tih aspekata ima stanovitu semantičku težinu. Upozorava se na okolnost da marginalije nisu raspoređene ravnomjerno, pase pretpostavlja da imaju i stanovitu kompozicijsku funkciju. Zaključuju se da je funkcija rubnih bilježaka dvojaka: s jedne strane, one su izrazito autorska gesta, kojom pisac upozorava na sebe kao tvorca teksta, a s druge strane, one povezuju 'Vilu Slovinku' s djelima hrvatske književnosti u kojima se također javljaju marginalije, prije svih s 'Juditom' i 'Planinama'.

Marginalijos – vienas įdomiausių knygos elementų tiek M. Daukšos Postilėje, tiek ir visose kitose senosiose knygose visame pasaulyje. Šiuo metu jų tyrimams skiriama vis daugiau dėmesio. Bakalauro darbe aptariamos marginalijų klasifikavimo galimybės, tyrimo istorija ir raida, tyrimo kryptys siejant teorinę medžiagą su darbo šaltiniu. Kadangi marginalijos Lietuvoje dar tik pradedamos tirti, darbas iš dalies skirtas supažindinimui su šiuo knygos elementu. Darbe analizuojamos Postilės pirmosios dalies marginalijos, skirstomos į tris pagrindines grupes: glosas, rubrikas ir scholijas. Pagal specialiai susidarytą marginalijų klasifikaciją šios grupės dar skirstomos į pogrupius pagal atliekamas funkcijas. Atlikus tyrimą, daroma išvada, kad marginalijos Daukšos Postilėje dažniausiai atlieka pagalbinę funkciją – nurodo, kas pasakojama tam tikroje pastraipoje, paaiškina kitos kalbos, neaiškios tarmės žodį, informuoja, iš kurio šaltinio yra cituojama. Kita marginalijų paskirtis – tai galimybė Postilės vertėjui M. Daukšai knygos paraštėse parodyti skaitytojui lietuvių kalbos grožį, jos žodyno turtingumą. Darbo priede pateikiama 120 įdomiausių marginalijų – glosų – pavyzdžių, kuriuose matomas tiesioginis ryšys su pagrindiniu tekstu. Marginalia are one of the most interesting elements of the book not only in Postilla by Mikalojus Daukša, but also in books worldwide. Currently, researches based on marginalija attract even more attention. Research of the final work contains theory of classification and development of similar researches. As this work is fresh in Lithuania, the goal of introducing marginalia should be considered too. Analyzed marginalia are divided into three main groups: glosses, rubrics and scholias. By special classification of marginalia of this book, groups are divided into subgroups. Analysis shows that marginalia in Postilla by M. Daukša help reader to understand the text easily. Other function of marginalia of this book is that the author can show the beauty and riches of his language. In the appendix of the work there are 120 most interesting examples of glosses, where the relation between text and marginalia is shown.

Marginalijos yra svarbus pagalbinis knygos struktūros elementas, ypač reikšmingas knygos istorijos tyrimui. Tiriant spausdintines marginalijas, daugiausia dėmesio skiriama seniesiems tekstams, nes būtent juose tokių įrašų daugiausia ir aptinkama. Darbe analizuojamos Mikalojaus Daukšos „Postilės“ pirmosios dalies marginalijos skirstomos į tris pagrindines grupes: glosas, rubrikas ir scholijas. Pagal specialiai susidarytą marginalijų klasifikaciją šios grupės dar skirstomos į pogrupius pagal atliekamas funkcijas. Atlikus tyrimą, daroma išvada, kad Mikalojaus Daukšos „Postilės“ marginalijos dažniausiai atlieka pagalbinę funkciją – nurodo, kas pasakojama konkrečioje pastraipoje, paaiškina kitos kalbos žodį, informuoja, iš kokio šaltinio cituojama, padeda skaitytojui nepasimesti tekste, sekti pasakojimo eigą ir įvykių chronologiją. Kita marginalijų paskirtis – tai galimybė „Postilės“ vertėjui Mikalojui Daukšai knygos paraštėse parodyti skaitytojui lietuvių kalbos grožį, jos žodyno turtingumą ir įvairumą, žodžių gausumą. Vėlesnio laikotarpio knygų leidyboje spausdintinių marginalijų buvo palaipsniui atsisakoma, kol galiausiai jų visai neliko. Marginalijų išnykimas aiškintinas įvairiomis priežastimis: glosos tapo nereikalingos įsitvirtinus bendrinei kalbai, rubrikų atsisakyta, nes jos, bėgant laikui ir tobulėjant spausdinimo galimybėms, modifikavosi į dabar įprastus knygų skyrių ir poskyrių pavadinimus, scholijos tiesiog persikėlė į knygų išnašas. Marginalia is an important auxiliary structural element of a book, especially important for the research into of the history of the book. The paper analyses marginalia of the first part of Mikalojus Daukša's Postilla; they are divided into three major groups: glosses, rubrics, and scholia. According to the specially designed classification of marginalia, these groups are further subdivided into subgroups based on the functions they perform. The research has shown that marginalia in Mikalojus Daukša's Postilla most often perform an auxiliary function - they indicate what is narrated in a concrete paragraph, explain a foreign word, inform about the source of the quotation, and help the reader not to get lost in the text, to follow the line of the story and the chronology of the events. Another function of marginalia is an opportunity for the translator of Postilla, Mikalojus Daukša, to demonstrate in the margins the beauty of the Lithuanian language, the richness and variety of its vocabulary and the wealth of words to the reader. In publishing books in the later period, printed marginalia were gradually abandoned, until they have disappeared completely. Their disappearance can be explained by various reasons: glosses became unnecessary with the establishment of the literary language; rubrics became extinct because with the passage of time and development in printing capabilities they evolved into the present-day titles of chapters and sections of books, while scholia simply moved to the notes and footnotes

Straipsnyje nagrinėjama marginalijų samprata, apibrėžtis ir tyrimų istoriografija. Siekiama nustatyti marginalijų šaltiniotyrinės bazės susiformavimą ir vykdomų tyrimų kryptis. Išskiriamos trys marginalijų apibrėžtys: kodikologinė, poligrafinė ir „pogamybinė“. Kodikologiškai ir poligrafiškai marginalijos apibrėžiamos kaip knygos gamybos metu atsiradę, funkcinę prigimtį turintys pagalbiniai informaciniai įrašai, tekstai ir ženklai, esantys už knygos pagrindinio teksto. „Pogamybinis“ požiūris telkiasi prie neapibrėžto turinio marginalijų, kurios atsirado funkcionuojant knygai visuomenėje. Marginalijų šaltiniotyrinė bazė pradėjo formuotis XIX a. pradžioje Didžiojoje Britanijoje, o Lietuvoje XX a. 6-ajame dešimtmetyje. Šaltiniotyra daugiausia nuveikė pirminio fiksavimo srityje, žinias apie marginalijas iš pradžių žymėta korteliniuose kataloguose, vėliau senųjų spaudinių ir elektroniniuose kataloguose. Dalis jų publikuota nuorašais ir faksimilėmis. Istoriškai susiformavo trys pagrindinės marginalijų tyrimų kryptys: filologinė, istorinė ir knygotyrinė (suvokiant knygos istoriją kaip jos dalį). Šiuo metu didžiausią įdirbį tiriant marginalijas yra pasiekę Didžiosios Britanijos, JAV ir Rusijos mokslininkai. Marginalijos pasitelkiamos poligrafijos, kodikologijos, skaitymo istorijos, knygos kultūros ir knygos meno tyrimams. Three definitions of marginalia are distinguished: codicological, polygraphic, and "postmanufaturing". Codicologically and polygraphically marginalia are defined as additional information records which appear during the book production process. Marginalia are texts and signs (and miniatures) of a functional nature, which are usually placed behind the main text of the book. The "postmanufacturing" attitude focuses on the marginalia which have an indefinite content and which appear in the process of book functioning in society. The development of marginalia scientific studies started at the beginning of the 19th century in Great Britain, meanwhile in Lithuania it started in the sixth decade of the 20th century. In the source studies, most has been achieved in the field of initial fixing. Information about marginalia was first recorded in card catalogues, later in old prints and electronic catalogues. Half of them are published as duplicates and facsimiles. Historically, three main marginalia research trends have formed: philological, historical and book science (perceiving book history as its part). Currently, the largest work in investigating marginalia is done by researchers from Great Britain, the USA and Russia. Marginalia are invoked in the investigation of polygraphy, codicology, reading history, book culture and book art. In Lithuania, more researches in history of reading, book culture, book art, records and sign history are conducted. Historiography development possibilities are intended for the research of library, bookbindery, book trade history and biographistic study.

Straipsnyje susitelkiama į marginalinę rašto sklaidą, į periferinius tekstus, įrašus ar pastabas, siekiama įžvelgti ir rekonstruoti juose išlikusį informacijos klodą apie senosios Lietuvos mintijimo ir savivokos apraiškas, neiškeltas iki politikos, pasaulėžiūros ar pasaulėvokos lygmens. Šios istorinės nuotrupos įgalina pažvelgti į praeities kasdienybės dvasią, geriau suvokti "karališkojo nuogumo" realybę ir atskleisti savivokos bei saviraiškos formavimosi aspektus. Analizuojami tekstai pagal jų lokaciją skirstomi į dvi grupes: pirmiausia - tai spausdintuose leidiniuose esantys personaliniai, instituciniai ar anoniminiai įrašai, su spaudiniais susiję priklausomybės arba komentavimo ryšiais. Taip pat įrašai, nesusiję su konkrečiu tekstu ar knyga. Beveik visi straipsnyje cituojami šiai grupei priklausantys įrašai paimti iš spaudinių, saugomų Kauno apskrities viešosios bibliotekos fonde. Didžioji jų dalis čia pateko iš Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto bibliotekos. Antrą grupę sudaro proginiai bei dedikaciniai įrašai ar tekstai, dažniausiai esantys specialiuose rankraštiniuose albumuose - namų ar draugų knygose. Publikuojami šios grupės tekstai paimti iš Krokuvos Cartoryskių bibliotekoje saugomo rankraščio Pamiętnik przyjaciół Andrzeja Lubienieckiego ir privačiame N. ir S. Lūžių archyve esančio Jono Zenkevičiaus albumo. Absoliuti šių įrašų dauguma yra pasirašyti tekstai, tačiau esama ir anoniminių. Kalbos požiūriu pateikiama medžiaga atspindi senosios Lietuvos raštijos realybę: įrašai lotynų, lenkų, lietuvių, rusų kalbomis. Aptariami tekstai - dalis jų datuota - yra rašyti XVI-XIX amžiais. The present article focuses on the dissemination of glossing, marginal texts, inscriptions and notes with the aim to discern and reconstruct the information layer displaying the phenomena of the ancient Lithuanian self-perception that was not raised to the level of politics, world outlook and world conception. The texts are divided into two groups according to their localization. The first group comprises personal, institutional or anonymous records in publications, related to the latter by dependency or comments. Records that are not connected with a specific text or book are also included. Almost all the records that belong to this group and are quoted in the article are taken from the printings kept in the Kaunas Public Library. The second group is comprised of occasional or dedicatory records or texts most often found in special handwritten albums – guest or friends' memory books. The published texts of this group are taken from the manuscript (Rkp. 1403) Pamiætnik przyjaciół Andrzeja Lubicnieckiego, kept in Czartoryski Library in Krakow as well as from Jonas Zenkevičius album in Neringa and Sigitas Luzys' private archive. The majority of the texts are signed, though there are also anonymous ones. The language of the material presented reflects the reality of the ancient Lithuanian writing – the records are in Latin, Polish, Lithuanian and Russian. The texts discussed (some of them are dated) were written in the 14th - 19th centuries.

Straipsnyje pagrindžiamas nagrinėjamo objekto - tarpukario Lietuvos politikų portretų - marginalumas. Kartu parodoma, kad šių kūrinių analizė leidžia nustatyti kai kuriuos būdingus tarpukario Lietuvos oficialiojo stiliaus bruožus. Remiantis charakteringais pavyzdžiais aptariama politikų paveikslų interpretacija, dailininkų taikytos išraiškos priemonės. Pagrindžiama išvada apie palyginti liberalų požiūrį į oficialų stilių, kurį liudytų pakantumas psichologinio portreto tradicijai bei tolerantiškas požiūris į modernios stilistikos taikymą, negausūs "vadizmo" pavyzdžiai dailės kūriniuose. Įrodoma, kad Lietuvos oficialiajame stiliuje įsivyravusias neotradicionalizmo tendencijas daugiau lėmė bendrieji monumentalumo reikalavimai bei Europos meninių tendencijų poveikis, nes aukščiausieji valdžios atstovai neturėjo ypatingų estetinių prioritetų. This article opens with the arguments supporting the marginality of the object under research, i.e. the portraits of Lithuanian politicians produced in the interwar years. At the same time, it is shown that the analysis of these artworks allows establishing certain typical traits of the Lithuanian official style of the interwar period. On the basis of the most typical examples, it is demonstrated how the portraits of politicians were interpreted and what means of expression were adopted by the artists. The article shows that in the 1920s portraiture was dominated by the neoromantic approach, which had its roots in the national rebirth movement of the early 20th century. It further reveals the anachronicity and naivety of the neo-romantic symbolism that became apparent in the artistic life of the 1920s. The article concludes that due to their idealistic nature and intimacy the neo-romantic portraits of politicians did not suit representative purposes. Meanwhile, with the growing strength of the state, the representation motives were gaining increasing importance and forming the need of official portrait. The art of the 1930s exhibited a variety and abundance of politicians' portraits. At that time, a number of symbolically neutral realistic portraits and modern pieces were produced. Neo-academist examples served representation purposes. In specific cases, certain manifestations of personality cult became apparent. However, at the same time the portraits of Lithuanian politicians displayed a variety of styles. The dominance of neo-traditional features in the official style was determined largely by the general requirements of monumentality as well as by the tendencies in European art, as the top state officials did not have any specific aesthetic preferences.

Prikazan je glagoljski zapis popa Šimuna Grebla o jednoj epidemiji koja je harala 1512 u Buzetu. U hrvatskom glagoljskom Novakovom misalu iz 1368. godine na fol.269b nalazi se kratak zapis popa Šimuna Grebla iz 1512. godine koji govori o "moriji", nakon čega slijedi oracij za mrtve posvećen sv. Grguru. Na temelju povijesnih, književnih i medicinskih istraživanja zaključeno je da pojam "morija" podrazumijeva epidemiju kuge koja se pojavila u ročkome kraju početkom 16. stoljeća. U prilog ovoj tvrdnji je i marginalni podatak za istu godinu nepoznatoga autora koji prvi put spominje i termin "kuga". Važnost ovoga zapisa je u tome što jasno pokazuje ulogu dragocjene i dobro čuvane knjige, misala kneza Novaka, koja postaje komunikacijski medij tužnih događanja koja se zvanično nisu bilježila.
