This research investigates the synergistic relationship between sustainability and financial prosperity in businesses, specifically focusing on the impact of consumers on profit growth in Kosovo and Albania. The study aims to understand consumers’ perceptions of their purchases, the factors influencing their choice of businesses, and the types of businesses that effectively support consumers in these countries. Data were collected through a survey completed by 200 consumers and 200 businesses. The analysis, utilizing multivariate analysis of variance, descriptive analysis, and reliability analysis with SPSS, reveals that consumers significantly influence the sustainability of business profit growth. Moving forward, it is recommended that businesses prioritize offering reasonable prices, quality products/services, easy access to products/services, clear information about products/services, and convenient locations. The research has profound implications for businesses, consumers, and countries and suggests the need for further exploration of the impact of consumers on profit growth in diverse contexts.

The influence of the realization of economic value determined by the cost of equity capital and borrowed capital is in the permanent attention of shareholders and all participants in the financial exercise of an enterprise. Shareholders are directly interested in the value creation mechanism as the remuneration they expect for the capital invested and the risk assumed. The strategic object of increasing the performance of the organization and implicitly of the newly created value satisfies the immediate interest of the managers and of the other employees, constituting the guarantee of maintaining the jobs. Salary packages often also include clauses regarding obtaining a remuneration from the company's profit or participating in its share capital. At the level of the national economy, value creation means the efficient use of the national economic potential and on this basis the increase of the gross domestic product that contributes to the increase of social welfare

In this perspective article, we describe the vital need for a well-organized cancer registry in Romania, where lung cancer prevalence and mortality rates are alarmingly high. We discuss contributing factors such as increased use of chest X-rays and CT scans during the COVID-19 pandemic and delayed diagnoses due to limited medical care access. With the nation’s characteristically limited access to healthcare, it is plausible that the surge in acute imaging for COVID-19 has inadvertently resulted in a higher detection rate of lung cancer. This inadvertent early detection underscores the vital need for a well-organized cancer registry in Romania, where lung cancer prevalence and mortality rates are alarmingly high. Although impactful, these factors are not the primary causes of the high lung cancer cases in the country. We provide an overview of current options and propose future perspectives for epidemiological monitoring of lung cancer patients in Romania, aiming to enhance patient care, bolster research, and promote data-driven policy-making. While our primary focus is establishing a national registry for lung cancer, we address challenges, considerations, and best practices applicable to all cancer types. Through our proposed strategies and recommendations, we aim to contribute to the development and improvement of a comprehensive national cancer registry system in Romania.

There have been relatively few studies revealing a decreased platelet count in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Although this hematological abnormality is not as well documented as renal anemia, platelet functions are altered in the uremic environment and there is an increased risk of bleeding. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the administration of platelet concentrate in CKD based on how patient prognosis was influenced by platelet transfusion therapy. The study monitored 104 patients with CKD and thrombocytopenia who received platelet transfusion during their hospitalization in the period from 2015 to 2021. The complete blood cell count, serum urea and creatinine, and inflammatory status were tested upon admission. The number of transfused platelet units were considered for each patient. A Kruskal–Wallis H test showed that for one transfused platelet unit, the distribution of the number of platelets (×103/µL) was the same across the categories of associated diagnoses, which was seen as possible risk factors for thrombocytopenia, including liver cirrhosis and urosepsis. With a single exception, all patients exceeded the critical threshold of 20 × 103/µL and 14 patients remained under 50 × 103/µL. Even though our patients exceeded the critical threshold of platelet numbers, in patients with multiple comorbidities, severe, uncontrolled hemorrhages could not be prevented in 4.83% of cases.

Communicating performance and the impact of sustainability by a company only makes sense if it leads to a positive evolution of it by increasing its value in the global capital market, the interest and trust of stakeholders and the transparency of information considered relevant, reputation in the market. Responsibility builds trust between companies and stakeholders. Trust strengthens the validity of the relationship. Stakeholder involvement is essential, GRI supports the involvement of stakeholders in companies and how they provide information on issues they are interested in assessing a company’s performance. The paper highlights that GRI standards can be an important benchmark for both companies and investors, and integrated reporting can be a catalyst for transparent, sustainabilityoriented reporting in Romanian companies. The research shows that the most important thing is not the report itself, but how companies use the information and observations that come out of the report and how it can be made different for both the companies and the stakeholders.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent joint condition causing pain and disability, especially in the elderly. Currently, OA diagnosis relies on clinical data and imaging, but recent interest in metabolomics suggests that early biochemical changes in biofluids, particularly synovial fluid (SF), could enable an earlier diagnosis and understanding of the disease. Methods: In this regard, we conducted a lipidomics study in 33 plasma and SF samples from OA patients and 20 OA-free controls to assess the diagnostic value of various lipid metabolites, using UHPLC-QTOF-ESI+MS. Results: In plasma samples, 25 metabolites had area-under-the-curve (AUC) values higher than 0.9, suggesting a very good diagnostic potential for phosphatidic acid PA (16:0/16:0), PA (34:0), phosphatidylethanolamine PE (34:2), glucosylceramide, phosphatidylcholine PC (32:1), and other metabolites while in SF 20, metabolites had AUC values higher than 0.8, the vast majority belonging to lipid metabolism as well. Conclusions: Although the results align with the previous literature, larger cohort studies are necessary to confirm the diagnostic value of the lipid metabolites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Schatzker type II fractures usually need to be grafted. Autograft bone from the iliac crest represents the gold standard, but it comes with high rates of morbidity on the donor side. Sticky bone is one of the regenerative therapies that aims to find new solutions to treat bone defects and to overcome the limitation of conventional options regarding bone grafts, due to their content in growth factors, which offer osteo-induction and osteo-conduction properties. Notably, regenerative dentistry has been at the forefront of applying these products in bone regeneration, demonstrating that PRF produces a highly promising "sticky bone" when combined with bone chips. To the best of our knowledge, this grafting technique has not been used in the orthopedic field to date. Methods: The subject was a 53-year-old woman with a Schatzker type II tibial plateau fracture, for which a new autologous bone grafting technique, i.e., sticky bone, was used for the treatment of the fracture. Results: This case reports the effectiveness of sticky bone as autologous bone graft used in Shatzker type II tibial plateau fracture. As an indispensable component of regenerative medicine, it seems to be an ideal biologic graft with a fibrin-rich structure that provides effective treatment in impressed tibial plateau fractures. The 2014 Surgeon General's Report on smoking and health concluded that changing cigarette designs have caused an increase in lung adenocarcinomas, implicating cigarette filter ventilation that lowers smoking machine tar yields. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) now has the authority to regulate cigarette design if doing so would improve public health. To support a potential regulatory action, two weight-of-evidence reviews were applied for causally relating filter ventilation to lung adenocarcinoma. Published scientific literature (3284 citations) and internal tobacco company documents contributed to causation analysis evidence blocks and the identification of research gaps. Filter ventilation was adopted in the mid-1960s and was initially equated with making a cigarette safer. Since then, lung adenocarcinoma rates paradoxically increased relative to other lung cancer subtypes. Filter ventilation 1) alters tobacco combustion, increasing smoke toxicants; 2) allows for elasticity of use so that smokers inhale more smoke to maintain their nicotine intake; and 3) causes a false perception of lower health risk from "lighter" smoke. Seemingly not supportive of a causal relationship is that human exposure biomarker studies indicate no reduction in exposure, but these do not measure exposure in the lung or utilize known biomarkers of harm. Altered puffing and inhalation may make smoke available to lung cells prone to adenocarcinomas. The analysis strongly suggests that filter ventilation has contributed to the rise in lung adenocarcinomas among smokers. Thus, the FDA should consider regulating its use, up to and including a ban. Herein, we propose a research agenda to support such an effort.

This article presents the influence of the evolution of the oil price on the international markets on the strategies of companies whose main activity is the manufacture of oil equipment for the Romanian oil industry. As a tool for economists and specialists in the oil industry, such a study helps to develop economic strategies and management decisions based on forecasts of oil price developments. Based on statistical data for the annual oil price on international markets and the turnover of the oil companies, an analysis was proposed which showed that the trends in the mathematical models are similar, which highlights that economic activities in the oil sector are sensitive to the evolution of oil price. Management strategies are based on anticipating changes in the corporate environment, assessing the company’s internal potential and making the necessary changes to bring it in line with the economy, its mission, and the objectives set to ensure its survival and continuity. These views make it possible to analyse and forecast oil prices; upward trends will encourage companies to design and develop strategies that include investments to expand production capacity, and downward trends will synergistically lead to downsizing strategies. Variations in company production will generate an economic, social, and environmental impact in the countries where they operate.

Ceramic protective coatings, primarily composed of spinel (MgAl2O4), magnesia (MgO), and trimagnesium phosphate (Mg3(PO4)2), were produced on magnesium AZ63 alloy through Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) in mixed sodium phosphate/aluminate electrolytes with varying aluminate concentrations and constant processing time. The morpho-structural and compositional characteristics of the coatings were studied using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Their functional mechanical and anti-corrosive properties were assessed through tribological testing, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and potentiodynamic bias tests. The findings indicated that the samples processed through PEO exhibited significantly enhanced properties compared to the AZ63 magnesium alloy. The best tribological properties were observed for the lowest aluminate concentration. Optimum corrosion resistance properties were obtained for coatings produced in a mixed electrolyte of 10 g/L sodium phosphate and 20 g/L sodium aluminate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study we aim to approach the Dashboard from an innovative perspective with emphasis on the way of elaboration and implementation in the performance management of the mining and energy organization. In the foundation of our study we use key performance indicators and key risk indicators designed in charts, maps and dashboards, to allow the company to focus on the most important value-generating activities for the organization. The result of our study consists of the projection of the information provided by the dashboard on a single screen in a clear way, to be understood by stakeholders as a basis for evaluating and measuring the performance of the company, understanding the organizational units and the business processes in order to correctly identify and punctual of the managerial decisions implemented in correlation with the economic results obtained by the entity.

The research is particularly useful to the management of the company as it has an appropriate tool in evaluating a multicriterial investment project. The multicriterial approach structures and combines the various assessments that are considered in the decision-making process for selecting the optimal variant of several possible alternatives, the treatment applied to each of them conditional on the choice of the final decision. The opportunity to choose this approach in the efficient selection of the most feasible alternative within an investment project is an undeniable premise of organizational development, given the existence of a competitive market which is continuous dynamic.

Digitization has significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery. As robots offer service companies new opportunities to serve their customers innovatively, the service industry is eager to experiment with their use. Analysis in this article shows in which areas of application service companies can integrate robots into customer interaction, for which tasks they are suitable, and which design features need to be considered. The results highlight that digitization facilitates real-time monitoring and evaluation of service performance, enabling service providers to promptly identify and address issues. In this study we propose further research on the issue of cost calculation and determination of the production cost of coal in the organization under review. This study uses the traditional approach in order to determine the unit cost per ton of coal mined, highlighting the spending structure so as to render an accurate and timely management organization method, in order to adopt the required measures. The research ends by establishing the differences between budgeted costs and the realized ones and analysis of the causes that led to the planned budget overrun.
