5. Mechanisms of Coreopsis tinctoria Nutt in the Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy Based on Network Pharmacyology Analysis of its Active Ingredients.

Coreopsis tinctoria Nutt. (C. tinctoria Nutt.) can protect diabetic kidneys, but the mechanisms are unclear. This work is to investigate the potential mechanisms of C. tinctoria Nutt. in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy based on network pharmacology analysis of its active ingredients. Twelve small molecular compounds of C. tinctoria Nutt. and targets related to diabetic nephropathy were docked by Discovery Studio 3.0. DAVID database was used for GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis. Cytoscape 3.6.1 was used to construct active ingredient-target network. Cell viability was detected with MTT. Glucose consumption was analyzed with glucose oxidase method. Protein expression was measured with Western blot and immunofluorescence. Electron microscopy observed autophagosomes. The core active ingredients of C. tinctoria Nutt. included heriguard, flavanomarein, maritimein, and marein. Twenty-one core targets of the 43 potential targets were PYGM, TLR2, RAF1, PRKAA2, GPR119, INS, CSF2, TNF, IAPP, AKR1B1, GSK3B, SYK, NFKB2, ESR2, CDK2, FGFR1, HTRA1, AMY2A, CAMK4, GCK, and ABL2. These 21 core targets were significantly enriched in 50 signaling pathways. Thirtyfour signaling pathways were closely related to diabetic nephropathy, of which the top pathways were PI3K/AKT, insulin, and mTOR, and insulin resistance. The enriched GO terms included biological processes of protein phosphorylation, and the positive regulation of PI3K signaling and cytokine secretion; cellular components of cytosol, extracellular region, and extracellular space; and molecular function of protein kinase activity, ATP binding, and non-membrane spanning protein tyrosine kinase activity. In vitro experiments found that marein increased the expression of phosphorylated AKT/AKT in human renal glomerular endothelial cells of an insulin resistance model induced by high glucose, as well as increased and decreased, respectively, the levels of the microtubule-associated proteins, LC3 and P62. C. tinctoria Nutt. has many active ingredients, with main ingredients of heriguard, flavanomarein, maritimein, and marein, and may exert anti-diabetic nephropathy effect through various signaling pathways and targets. În context, protejarea mediului marin se realizează prin intermediul unor mecanisme şi instrumente juridice multilaterale şi regionale, care au drept scop coordonarea activităţii statelor în cadrul conferinţelor şi organismelor internaţionale ce au loc în scopul combaterii şi sancţionarii poluării mediului marin. Răspunderea juridică în materia poluării mediului marin va cădea în sarcina poluatorului, vinovat de deteriorarea factorilor de mediu, dar şi în sarcina oricărei persoane fizice sau juridice care, deşi nu produce poluarea mediului, prin faptele săvârşite încalcă legislaţia mediului. Răspunderea civilă sau răspunderea penală nu exclud răspunderea administrativă şi răspunderea disciplinară a membrilor echipajului unei nave, care prin funcţiile avute la bord, concură la realizarea siguranţei navigaţiei şi a navei. 8. Protected areas safeguard landbird populations in central coastal California: Evidence from long-term population trends.

Many bird populations have experienced population declines across North America over the past several decades. The establishment of protected areas has been used as a conservation action to maintain or help in the recovery of these populations; however, the effectiveness of protected areas in safeguarding bird populations within their borders from negative impacts to populations in surrounding unprotected areas has rarely been evaluated. Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of protected areas in the San Francisco Bay Area of California for landbirds. We conducted point count surveys along riparian corridors in coastal Marin County in protected areas, predominately national parks, and estimated the population growth rates for 14 species over 23 years. We compared these growth rates to North American Breeding Bird Survey growth rate estimates from the Coastal California and the Northern Pacific Rainforest Bird Conservation Regions, which comprise larger, regional populations. A safeguarding effect was detected for 9 of the 14 species. We expected an effect on species strongly associated with riparian vegetation, which has incurred significant loss and degradation in the region; however, we instead observed benefits to general riparian users that were at least as great as the benefits to strong riparian specialists. We also expected that populations of resident species might benefit more than migrants; however, we found strong support for a safeguarding effect for both groups. Species with increasing growth rates in coastal Marin County protected areas in comparison to regionally stable or decreasing populations demonstrate the potential for protected areas to not only maintain populations despite declines outside their boundaries but also to help them recover from current and previous losses. Continuing long-term monitoring and associated full life cycle research will help identify if and when other drivers (e.g., climate change) may weaken these safeguarding effects, or when additional conservation and management is warranted. This thesis investigates southern China as a part of dynamic and extensive interregional networks from the third to the first millennium BC and explores the changing roles of different southern regions within the interregional relationships. This was an important transitional period for southern China as it was the time when several prominent and farreaching innovations of technologies and material culture were made or adopted in the area. Four key sets of materials – rice, bronze, ceramics and jade – are examined with a World-system perspective to reveal interregional contacts in different directions and of different nature between southern China and a number of neighbouring regions. By stressing on local responses towards different technologies and material culture in different period, an alternative narrative to that stemmed from Chinese historiography is, therefore, suggested. Instead of being a passive and 'backward' periphery in the traditional sense, southern China presents diversification of material culture over time. Many of the mechanisms of transmission and circulation in the south are characterised by 'leaked' technologies and designs, as well as 'selective adoption' and local redevelopment of material culture.

The correspondence between the elderly Biagio Marin and the younger Claudio Magris shows the evolution of an intense relationship from both an emotional and an intellectual point of view. Their letters help us develop the biographies of two writers who occasionally disagreed on personal and cultural grounds. For the poet from Grado, who lost his son, the Germanist was a spiritual heir. However, his Weltanschauung still expressed the proactive values of a generation that had been born before WWI. By contrast, Magris’ own values reflected the crisis and anxieties of the twentieth century.

Increased availability of natural gas has boosted research and development efforts to further increase gas turbine performance. Performance has been increased remarkably and unit cost reduced due to achievements gained in improving thermodynamic cycles and cooling technologies. However, increased complexity in power industry regulations and fluctuations in fuel price have indicated that all the aforementioned improvements in gas turbine performance could not cope with the increased competition in the gas turbine industrial market. Innovation within the aero-derivative concept has enabled further significant improvement in the performance of industrial gas turbines. It allows a more beneficial approach than developing new designs of industrial gas turbines owing to reduced designing time and cost. Objectives in this project focus on developing a methodology of design and assessing aeroderivative gas turbine engines derived from a 130-seat aircraft engine. Developed methodology includes techno-economic and environmental assessment, conducted through further developments of models based on Techno-economic and Environmental Risk Assessment (TERA) philosophy, to be applied in further industrial applications. Tools used in this investigation include a significant literature research on the development of aero-derivative gas turbine technologies, including thermodynamic cycles and its land-based applications. Turbomatch is a homebased code developed in Cranfield University, used in calculating design point and predicting off-design performance of parent aero-engine and the aeroderivative engines developed. Excel and FORTRAN code are also used in calculating engine’s design parameters, and creating a model of life estimation Creep. Moreover, FORTRAN code is used for building emission and economic models for power generation and combined heat and power applications. Finally, MATLAP code is used in creating a small model for generating performance TXT files, and running marine integrated models platform. All models needed to develop the methodology have been created, and calculations of an engine’s performance and assessment were conducted based on this developed methodology. Sensible results are generated from the investigated methodology and they show acceptable designs of aero-derivative engines on different thermodynamic cycles. Based on the acceptable level of technology and material thermal barriers, all design and off-design performance limitations of new developed aero-derivative engines have been determined for a wide range of ambient conditions. Techno-economic and environmental assessment performed through implementing the developed aero-derivative engines on power generation and marine applications under different operating scenarios. Results of operating the engines on power generation and marine applications have been investigated and compared. It is observed that engines respond differently when operating under different environmental profiles, depending on the number of units engaged and their thermodynamic cycle as well as mechanical configurations. Also, the selected specific gas turbine engine can be the best economical choice for operating on determined scenario, while it cannot be when operating in different scenarios. Assessment of developed engines on the investigated application shows how the lowest specific cost (small engine size) can constitute important criteria in engine selection.

Daerah Aliran Bengawan Solo adalah daerah aliran sungai paling besar di Pulau Jawa dengan luas seluruh wilayah DAS, mulai dari hulu, tengah, hingga hilir mencapai 15.848,56 km2. Permasalahan banjir yang terjadi di Daerah Aliran Bengawan Solo, secara fisik, pada dasarnya terkait erat dengan kombinasi prosesproses geomorfologi yang bekerja pada seluruh wilayah DAS dan interaksinya dengan kondisi penggunaan lahan yang ada. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode interpretasi dan analisis bentuk lahan serta penutup lahan menggunakan data satelit penginderaan jauh. Data utama yang dipakai adalah Data Landsat7/ ETM+ tahun perekaman 20012002 dan DEM SRTM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan di wilayah Daerah Aliran Bengawan Solo telah terbentuk lima bentuk lahan utama, yaitu bentuk lahan denudasional (D), Fluvial (F), Marin (M), Karst atau solusional (K), struktural (S), bentuk lahan hasil kombinasi proses Fluvial dan Marin (FM) dan bentuk lahan buatan manusia (O). Bentuk lahan yang memiliki risiko paling tinggi terhadap banjir adalah dataran banjir, gosong sungai lengkung dalam, teras sungai erosional, meander terpenggal, saluran sungai, dataran aluvial pantai, delta, serta dataran lumpur. Daerahdaerah yang memiliki risiko banjir sangat tinggi sebagian besar merupakan daerah persawahan dan tambak.

17. Technical requirements for mooring goods in the Swedish Navy

The objective of this thesis is to generate and enhance technical specifications for mooring equipment designated for the Swedish Navy, as commissioned by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. The technical specifications will primarily emphasize the capacity to endure various load scenarios imposed by the Swedish Defence on the mooring equipment. This technical report constitutes a preliminary investigation in collecting technical requirements where the mechanical characteristics will be of focus. The investigation assessed the elasticity characteristics of mooring ropes, considering their dependence on length and loading rate. As the mooring ropes are exposed to large forces and environmental circumstances, this study focused on investigating the impact of a used and worn rope, with the conclusive finding that the worn rope exhibited a substantial decline in its strength characteristics. The thesis work will examine the different load cases, encompassing both slow and shock loadings, with the result that Young's modulus does depend on the loading rate and that the magnitude of damping in the rope holds notable significance. The mooring goods must also endure extreme conditions without failing prematurely while still conforming to the performance requirements of the personnel handling the ropes. Therefore, a study is included regarding how much impact the weather conditions may have on the mooring ropes and which parameters are important. The thesis also outlines the importance of considering similar handling standards for new mooring goods, given the expectation of future procurement. It is crucial to avoid certain mistakes during handling, which can severely damage personnel and equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the new mooring ropes meet the current handling standards to maintain safety and avoid costly accidents. This report emphasizes the significance of adhering to proper handling standards in procuring and deploying mooring goods f, Syftet med detta arbete är att utveckla samt förbättra de tekniska specifikationer som FMV idag besitter angående de tampar \& förtöjningsgods som är avsedda för den svenska flottan, på uppdrag av Försvarets Materielverk, FMV. Denna rapport är en förstudie för samlandet av tekniska krav där fokuset främst ligger på de mekaniska egenskaperna ur ett hållfasthetsmässigt perspektiv. Undersökningen bedömde elasticitetsegenskaperna hos förtöjningsrep med hänsyn till deras beroende av längd och belastningshastighet. Eftersom dessa förtöjningsrep utsätts av diverse stora krafter och miljöförhållanden så undersöktes även vilken påverkan detta har på repen. Detta undersöktes genom att jämföra ett nytt mot ett gammalt och slitet rep. Båda av samma modell och tillverkare. Denna jämförelse ledde till slutsatsen att det använda repet besatt en betydande nedgång i samtliga sina egenskaper ur ett förtöjningsperspektiv. Avhandlingen kommer undersöka repens, främst amfibiebataljonens, olika belastningssituationer, inklusive både långsamma och plötsliga belastningar för att utvärdera de olika lastfallen de kan tänkas utsättas för. Detta resulterade i att elasticitetsmodulen verkar ha ett beroende av lastningshastigheten och visar på viskoelastiska egenskaper samt att dämpningsfaktorn har en betydande storlek hos tampen. Förtöjningsutrustningen måste även klara en rad olika miljöförhållanden utan att plötsligt ge vika, samtidigt som de uppfyller prestandakraven hos besättningen. Därför följer även en utredning kring hur mycket väderförhållandena kan påverka repen samt vilka parametrar som är viktiga att ta hänsyn till. Rapporten syftar även till att betona vikten av standardisering för ny förtöjningsutrustning med tanke på eventuell framtida upphandling. Det kan vara avgörande att undvika misstag vid hantering, vilket kan resultera i skador på besättning och utrustning. Abstract The Albian sediments of the Transdanubian Range in Hungary were deposited in non-marine to fully-marine environments. The studied sections revealed diverse benthic ostracod faunas with moderately-preserved specimens. Forty-six taxa are identified and Cypridea zalanyii n. sp. is newly described. The detailed palaeoecological study of these ostracod faunas provided an opportunity to distinguish eight assemblages. The assemblages include limnic, brackish lagoon, shallow marine, reef and low oxygenated semi-enclosed basin environments in the Northern Tethys region we investigated. Richard Krebs (1905-1951), alias Jan Valtin, a été un marin communiste et syndiqué allemand. Son récit, Sans patrie, ni frontières, qu’il présente comme une autobiographie, est paru aux États-Unis en janvier 1941. Différents éléments constituant la trame du livre ne concordent pas avec l’objectivité historique. Dans cette autobiographie romancée, Valtin s’octroie une vie d’exception qui le dégage de l’anonymat du simple militant. Quel fut le rôle politique réel de Richard Krebs ? À la lecture des sources et des analyses qui ont été faites sur cet ouvrage, on remarque que Krebs mêla à sa propre expérience au sein de l’Internationale des gens de la mer (ISH), syndicat dirigé par le Profintern, des colportages et récits trouvés dans les journaux de l’époque ou des histoires entendues. L’exagération, qui est présente tout au long du récit, est-elle une forme narrative ou la transformation du narrateur en héros ? L’ouvrage de Jan Valtin doit être compris comme celui d’un marin allemand pris dans la tourmente de l’Allemagne des années vingt et trente. Son ascension et ses responsabilités sont à mettre en parallèle avec la création, le 3 octobre 1930, de l’Internationale des marins et dockers (IMD en français), à Hambourg. De communiste convaincu, Richard Krebs devint un agent de la Gestapo tandis que sombrait, avec l’avènement du régime nazi, l’Allemagne comme centre opérationnel du mouvement communiste mondial.

Prosjektleder Mats Walday Overvåkingsprogrammet for Ytre Oslofjord har fokus på å fremskaffe informasjon om miljøtilstanden med hensyn til eutrofiering, blant annet hos organismesamfunn på bunnen. I 2021 ble det gjennomført undersøkelser av flora og fauna på hardbunn. Det ble foretatt rammeundersøkelser på 4 stasjoner, fjæresoneundersøkelser på 13 stasjoner og undersøkelser av nedre voksegrense for utvalgte makroalger på 8 stasjoner. Beregning av nedre voksegrenseindeksen ga «svært god» økologisk tilstand på en stasjon, «god» tilstand på tre stasjoner, «moderat» tilstand på to stasjoner og «dårlig» tilstand på to stasjoner. Det ble registrert totalt 68 taxa/arter ved rammeundersøkelsene og 81 taxa/arter ved fjæresoneundersøkelsene.

Nel 1946 Giani Stuparich, con il supporto dell’élite culturale cittadina, fondò a Trieste il Circolo della Cultura e delle Arti, per diffondere una cultura capace di orientare e superare le tensioni di quel difficile dopoguerra. Tra i tanti scrittori chiamati a tenere delle conferenze ci fu Pier Paolo Pasolini, che fin dal 1951 aveva cominciato a seguire la produzione di alcuni poeti giuliani, dei “dialettali” Virgilio Giotti e Biagio Marin oltre che, ovviamente, di Umberto Saba, di cui ammirava la “finta semplicità” linguistica. Tra i protagonisti della poesia triestina del Novecento le interazioni culturali ed amicali erano iniziate nei lontani anni fiorentini della «Voce», e continuarono variamente in seguito, mentre i loro profili critici, anche successivi, prendevano consistenza anche grazie a quelle letture del giovane Pasolini, destinato a diventare uno dei più importanti influencer della letteratura italiana contemporanea.

Im Rahmen des Meeresbiologischen Praktikums in der Forschungsstation Kristineberg (Schweden) im Sommer 2004 haben wir untersucht, ob die marinen Gastropodenarten Hydrobia ulvae und Littorina littorea Futterpräferenzen aufweisen. In Laborversuchen wurden beiden Arten unterschiedliche Kombinationen der Pflanzen Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium rubrum und Zostera marina angeboten. H. ulvae zeigte eine deutliche Präferenz für C. rubrum. Bei L. littorea konnte keine Präferenz festgestellt werden. Quantitative Beobachtungen im Freiland ergaben, daß verschiedene Größenklassen von L. littorea unterschiedliche Pflanzen bevorzugen. Adulte L. littorea traten auf F. vesiculosus, und F. serratus auf. Juvenile Exemplare von L. littorea hingegen fanden sich auf Laminaria saccharina, Sargassum muticum, Ceramium rubrum, Enteromorpha flexuosa und Zostera marina.

31. Mikroplasters miljöpåverkningar i Sverige : En granskning över de marina ekosystemen och hur olika arter påverkas av mikroplaster

I denna rapport får läsaren en övergripande bild över hur mikroplaster påverkar de internationella och svenska marina ekosystemen med en fördjupning på fem olika marina djurarter (torsk, sill, räkor, musslor och plankton). Vid framtagande av fakta och information kommer källor från olika relevanta vetenskapliga artiklar, rapporter samt myndigheter användas. På grund av att medvetenheten om mikroplaster i marina miljöer har ökat markant under de senaste 40 åren, har nya miljöproblem upptäckts av utsläppen. Många olika djur i näringskedjan påverkas negativt av mikroplastutsläppen genom exempelvis beteendeförändringar, svält, förgiftning, näringsbrist och andra problem i matsmältningssystemen. Mikroplasterna leder möjligtvis till bioackumulation, men inte biomagnifikation i näringskedjorna i de marina ekosystemen. För att minska mängden mikroplasterkan bland annat Sverige byta ut plastpellets på konstgräsanläggningar, använda filter vid tvättning, använda hållbara däck och göra starkare vägar, använda sediment på bottnen vid dammar, använda galler, filter och slam i vattenreningsverk, granska mikroplaster i jord och minska slamgödsel, samla upp skräp vid kuster och i havsbottnen, samt inte använda mikroplaster i kosmetiska produkter.

Le métier de marin embarqué expose à des contraintes diverses, qui nécessitent de posséder des capacités de résilience et un potentiel d’adaptation importants, c’est pourquoi les candidats à l’engagement dans la Marine nationale bénéficient d’un processus de sélection dans lequel est intégrée une évaluation psychologique. L’auteur, après avoir présenté l’École des mousses, expose la notion d’aptitude médicale dans les armées ainsi que les caractéristiques des troubles de l’adaptation à la vie embarquée. Il mesure auprès de la population des marins anciens mousses le nombre d’inaptitudes médicales pour raison psychologique ou psychiatrique. Il en détermine aussi les motifs, recherche d’éventuels facteurs de risque de désadaptation à la vie embarquée, et apprécie la prédictivité des entretiens psychologiques de sélection. Pour cela, il réalise une étude rétrospective descriptive portant sur les dossiers médicaux et livrets psychologiques de marins issus de l’École des mousses ayant intégré entre 2009 et 2019 et pour lesquels a été statuée une inaptitude médicale pour motif psychologique ou psychiatrique. Il en déduit les éléments saillants qui selon lui seraient susceptibles de représenter des facteurs de risque. L’auteur discute enfin de l’intérêt d’une étude similaire à plus grande échelle concernant les marins issus de l’École des mousses ayant rompu leur lien avec l’institution, laquelle permettrait d’évaluer l’importance de ces troubles de l’adaptation avec plus de puissance. À la fin du Moyen Âge, Valence est devenue un des premiers ports de la Méditerranée. Ce livre retrace les étapes de cette ascension du début du xve siècle, jusqu’à la crise finale de la société médiévale Valencienne. Les navires, les équipages, le monde interlope du port sont minutieusement reconstitués, à côté des parties plus techniques concernant l’organisation et les modalités du trafic maritime. Ce milieu des gens de mer est replacé dans le contexte plus large d’une société médiévale. Les activités maritimes ne sont que l’aboutissement d’une production terrestre, réalisée à Valence même et outre-mer, en Italie et au Maghreb. Le monde paysan, la société fragmentée des artisans, les milieux des négociants et des spéculateurs, le clergé et les nobles sont ressuscités dans la troisième partie, grâce à un dépouillement approfondi des archives d’État et des collections notariales de Valence, de Madrid, de Lisbonne et de Rome. On assiste ici à l’évolution des mentalités et des idéologies des divers états de la société, au fur et à mesure que les conditions de la vie matérielle se modifient. Le jeu des interactions devient encore plus complexe du fait de l’existence de minorités importantes. Les musulmans constituent le lien avec le passé arabe, les juifs et les « corners » sont partout présents, alors que les Allemands, les Italiens complètent ce tableau cosmopolite, auquel ne manquent pas les Français, les Bretons, les Flamands, les Anglais, ni les Grecs et les autres Levantins. Portrait d’une cité avec ses réussites et ses échecs, ce livre est aussi l’étude du fonctionnement d’une société médiévale dans un milieu marchand.

Revised version of 7302-2018 / M-1120 This programme examines the levels, trends and effects of contaminants in biota along the coast of Norway. The 2017-investigation included analyses of 93 different contaminants or biological effect parameters in five species (blue mussel, dogwhelk, common periwinkle, cod and the common eider). The contaminants include metals (Hg, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Ag, As, Ni, Cr and Co), tributyltin (TBT), organochlorines (e.g. PCBs, DDT), PAHs, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), perfluorinated alkylated substances (PFAS) as well as contaminants that have recently received much attention such as hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDs), chlorinated paraffins (SCCP, MCCP), bisphenol A (BPA), tetrabrombisphenol A (TBBPA), alkyphenols and siloxanes. Biological effects parameters included VDSI, OH-pyrene metabolites, ALA-D and EROD. In the report, 30 representative substances or parameters were chosen for analyses of 809 time series (last 10 years). Of these there were statistically significant trends in 193 cases: 83 were downwards and 35 upwards. The dominance of downward trends indicated that contamination is decreasing for the measured substances. The downwards trends for TBT-concentrations and effect parameter (VDSI) confirmed that the legislation banning the use of TBT has been effective. Of the 2017-medians (last year) for all 809 time series, there were 262 cases that could be classified against EQS, of which 157 (59.9 %) were below the EQS and 105 (40.1 %) were above the EQS. All of the 2017-medians from the 809 time series could be classified using a provisional high reference concentrations (PROREF). Of these 578 were below PROREF and 231 exceeded PROREF: 148 by a factor of less than two, 61 by a factor between two and five, 13 by a factor between five and 10, seven by a factor between 10 and 20, and two by a factor greater than 20. Some cases warrant special concern, such as high concentrations of several organic contaminants in cod liver from the Inner Oslofjord. High concentrations of DDE in mussels from the Sørfjord were related to earlier use of DDT as pesticide in orchards along the fjord. The influence of fish length on contaminant concentration was examined. Results of analyses of stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen are presented to investigate the role of food origin and trophic levels for observed contaminant concentrations. Revised version of 7200-2017 / M-856 This programme examines the levels, trends and effects of contaminants in biota along the coast of Norway. The 2016- investigation included analyses of 104 different contaminants or biological effect parameters in five types of samples (blue mussel, dog whelk, common periwinkle and cod). The contaminants include metals (Hg, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Ag, As, Ni, Cr and Co), tributyltin (TBT), organochlorines (e.g. PCBs, DDT), PAHs, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), perfluorinated alkylated substances (PFAS) as well as contaminants that have recently received much attention such as hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDs), chlorinated paraffins (SCCP, MCCP), phosphorus flame retardants (PFRs), bisphenol A (BPA), tetrabrombisphenol A (TBBPA) and alkyphenols. Biological effects parameters included VDSI, OH-pyrene metabolites, ALA-D and EROD. In the report, 30 representative substances or parameters were chosen for analyses of 800 time series (last 10 years). Of these there were statistically significant trends in 135 cases: 107 were downwards and 28 upwards. The dominance of downward trends indicated that contamination is decreasing for the measured substances. The downwards trends for TBT-concentrations and effect parameter (VDSI) confirmed that the legislation banning the use of TBT has been effective. Of the 2016-medians for all 800 time series, there were 403 cases that could be classified against EQS, of which 254 (63 %) were below the EQS and 149 (37 %) were above the EQS. I denna rapport får läsaren en övergripande bild över hur mikroplaster påverkar de internationella och svenska marina ekosystemen med en fördjupning på fem olika marina djurarter (torsk, sill, räkor, musslor och plankton). Vid framtagande av fakta och information kommer källor från olika relevanta vetenskapliga artiklar, rapporter samt myndigheter användas. På grund av att medvetenheten om mikroplaster i marina miljöer har ökat markant under de senaste 40 åren, har nya miljöproblem upptäckts av utsläppen. Många olika djur i näringskedjan påverkas negativt av mikroplastutsläppen genom exempelvis beteendeförändringar, svält, förgiftning, näringsbrist och andra problem i matsmältningssystemen. Mikroplasterna leder möjligtvis till bioackumulation, men inte biomagnifikation i näringskedjorna i de marina ekosystemen. För att minska mängden mikroplasterkan bland annat Sverige byta ut plastpellets på konstgräsanläggningar, använda filter vid tvättning, använda hållbara däck och göra starkare vägar, använda sediment på bottnen vid dammar, använda galler, filter och slam i vattenreningsverk, granska mikroplaster i jord och minska slamgödsel, samla upp skräp vid kuster och i havsbottnen, samt inte använda mikroplaster i kosmetiska produkter.
