This cross-sectional study is based on the 2016 National Survey on the Dynamics of Relationships in Households in Mexico. It aims to identify the correlates of childrearing-related marital conflict in urban Mexico. The analysis sample consists of 7,544 heterosexual partnered women parenting preschoolers. Binomial logistic regression models were estimated to investigate factors associated with men's and women's annoyance regarding how their partners treat or educate their children, as perceived by women. The findings suggest that disputes over workload distribution, and possible power and control struggles underlie this type of conflict. Therefore, couples that enhance their communication skills, prioritize power-sharing within their relationship, and engage in an equitable division of childrearing and household responsibilities may benefit from a reduction in marital childrearing conflict. Background: Systematic review of research shows that infidelity and marital infidelity cause the most damage to the relationship between spouses and addition to marital conflicts, it can even destroy the relationship. Despite numerous studies on the treatment of marital infidelity, there is a research gap regarding the efficacy of schema therapy based on mindfulness on the emotional reactivity and internal shame of betrayed women. Aims: The present study was conducted with the aim of the efficacy of schema therapy based on mindfulness on the emotion reactivity and internal shame of betrayed women. Methods: The method of the present research was practical in terms of purpose and semiexperimental in terms of method, pre-test-post-test with control group and three-month follow-up. The statistical population of this research included all women who needed psychological services in the second half of 2022 due to their husband's infidelity in the city of Bandar Abbas. Among all psychological and counseling service centers in Bandar Abbas city, 30 women who had referred to ten centers due to infidelity of their husbands were selected by the available sampling method and were randomly replaced in the experimental group and the control group. To collect data, emotional reactivity questionnaires (Knock et al. 2008) and internal shame (Cook, 1993) were used. The participants of the experimental group received 10 sessions of mindfulness-based schema therapy based on Van Vrieskwijck et al. (2015). Also, the data were analyzed by variance analysis with repeated measurements using SPSS-22 software. Results: The findings showed that schema therapy based on mindfulness was effective on the emotional reaction and internal shame of betrayed women. (p< 0.01). Also, the findings showed that this intervention had the greatest impact on internal shame. Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it can be argued that schema therapy based on mindfulness is effective on the emotional reaction and internal shame of betrayed women, and this therapeutic intervention can be used to moderate the emotional reaction and internal shame of betrayed women in counseling centers. Objective: Guided by the emotional security theory and tripartite model of children's emotion regulation (e.g., Davies & Cummings, 1994; Morris et al., 2007), this study examined the indirect influence of both adolescent and parent reported interparental conflict on the concurrent link between parent and adolescent emotion regulation. Background: There is strong empirical evidence of a direct link between parent and offspring emotion regulation. However, very little is known about how interparental conflict might serve as a mechanism linking parent and adolescent emotion regulation. Method: The sample consisted of 70 parents and their adolescent children (Mage = 14.59, SD = 1.44). Both parents and adolescents self‐reported on levels of interparental conflict and their own emotion regulation difficulties through Qualtrics software. Results: Findings from a structural equation model indicated that parental emotion dysregulation was associated with higher levels of self‐ and adolescent‐reported interparental conflict. However, only adolescent‐reported interparental conflict was associated with adolescent emotion dysregulation, which further emerged as a significant indirect effect. Post hoc analyses indicated that conflict frequency may drive the parent–child emotion regulation link. Conclusion: These results highlight interparental conflict as a potential mechanism in the parent–child emotion regulation link and also emphasize the importance of considering children's reports of interparental conflict. This article explores the complex issue of disharmony within religious marriages, focusing on Jewish approaches to divorce. Contrasting Jewish divorce mediation with other religions' approaches to marital conflict, this article examines two Judaic models: one viewing divorce as a severe remedy permissible only under certain circumstances, and the other allowing for divorce when a marriage is irreparably broken. The author highlights the positive Jewish commandment to peacefully divorce, discussing how mediation integrates compassion and justice, in line with Jewish legal and ethical traditions. This work emphasizes the benefits of community-based divorce mediation, including lower costs, shorter timelines, and increased communal acceptance. Jewish divorce mediation, the author argues, is particularly effective in maintaining child-centeredness and co-parenting relationships post-divorce. This article calls for a broader adoption of Jewish divorce mediation through charitable organizations to effectuate Jewish family values and provide amicable resolutions within the Jewish community. This paper examines Moroccan marital discourse as portrayed in popular culture, specifically jokes that circulate orally and online. Our analysis focuses on fifty jokes related to husbands, wives, and marriage. We employed content analysis for the entire dataset and critical discourse analysis (CDA) using Van Dijk's 'socio-cognitive' method for a subset of jokes. The study reveals prevalent stereotypes and societal views on husbands and wives, with a special emphasis on the role of women in Moroccan marriages. These views represent shared ideologies, influencing how individuals in society think, speak, act, and interact. The humour reflects marital conflicts, infidelity, and misogyny as commonplace. Several jokes normalise violence and animosity toward wives. The selected jokes predominantly depict women as passive, insecure, nagging, and reliant on their husbands, who are the primary breadwinners. Women's contributions to the family are typically limited to motherhood and cooking, and their concerns are shown to be trivial. Negative portrayals of wives, a prevalence of jokes in which females are engaged in infidelity, and reinforcement of traditional gender roles demonstrates a societal concern with regulating the female body and maintaining patriarchy. Research Findings: This study aims to examine the latent profiles of parents' mediation and their predictors, as well as links between different profiles and children's problematic media use. A total of 1415 children aged 3–6 years (47.8% boys) and their paired parents were recruited in Shanghai, China and surveyed demographic information, parents' mediation practice and marital conflict, and children's media use problems. Latent profile analyses, tests of variance, and logistic regression analyses were used for data analysis. The results indicated that: (1) four potential profiles of mediation were yielded: mother-dominated mediation, father-dominated mediation, coordinated high-level mediation, and coordinated low-level mediation; (2) there were significant associations between children's age, fathers' age, parents' educational backgrounds and marital conflict with mediation profiles; and (3) the likelihood of children experiencing problematic media use was lowest in the consistent high-level group, followed by the mother-dominated and the father-dominated group, and highest in the consistent low-level group. Practice or Policy: These findings imply that parents' digital parenting patterns are influenced by multiple factors, and that parents who are older, have less education, have older children, and experience more marital conflict should be given more support and assistance to improve parents' child-rearing and child development. In this study we examined types of marriages among contemporary married women. The relationships between marriage types and marital quality were explored. Data were taken from the Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD) (N=1,128). Using latent class analysis (LCA) to develop a typology of marriages, we found four types: (a) Institutional, (b) Companionate, (c) Institutional companionate, and (d) Negotiate. The marriage types of married women showed generational differences and were related to personal resources and family development stages. The findings show that the types of marriages are significantly related to both marital satisfaction and marital conflict. The Institutional companionate model of marriage, women who embraced traditional norms about marriage and gender equality of housework division enjoyed high-quality marriages. Marriages organized according to institutional norms experienced lower levels of marital quality. The results are discussed from a culture-informed perspective on marital typologies. AbstractThis study examines a hypothetical model underlying the relationship between perceived warmth from mothers and fathers and marital quality. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and a multistep path test were used to examine the hypothetical model. 482 (361 women, 121 men, Mage = 35.06 years, SD = 9.79) married individuals in Turkey participated in the study. SEM and path analyses showed a good fit for the hypothetical model of the study. Positive conflict resolution skills mediated the link between trait emotional intelligence and marital quality. Although attempts have been made to untangle the possible mechanisms underlying the relationship between marital conflict and life satisfaction, the number of studies examining the possible intervening mechanisms is still limited. Therefore, guided by the self‐determination theory, this study aimed to examine the mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction in the relationship between marital conflict and life satisfaction using a dyadic analysis method. The sample consisted of 235 female (Mage = 44.58, SD = 5.69) and male (Mage = 47.90, SD = 5.77) pairs. The Actor–Partner Interdependence Model Extended to Mediation (APIMeM) was used to examine the within and between pathways in the stated relations. Findings demonstrated actor and partner effects between need satisfaction and life satisfaction; however, females' need satisfaction was only marginally associated positively with their male partners' life satisfaction. Moreover, while males' need satisfaction was negatively related to both their own and their partners' marital conflict, females' need satisfaction was only negatively related to their marital conflict. Finally, for all pathways in the model, males' need satisfaction was supported as a full mediator between marital conflict and life satisfaction. Females' need satisfaction, on the other hand, significantly mediated the relationship between their own marital conflict and life satisfaction. The findings provide insights by elucidating the interplay between these variables in dyadic relationships and highlighting the critical importance of need satisfaction in overcoming marital challenges and enhancing partners' overall life satisfaction. Background: Self-compassion refers to the degree of compassion one feels towards oneself in response to shortcomings or failures, and it is linked with reduced anxiety and increased life satisfaction. Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of various psychological therapies in influencing levels of self-compassion, forgiveness, and marital conflict among married women. However, there is a research gap in the area of solution-focused single-session therapy and psychological issues affecting married women, who constitute a significant segment of society. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of solution-focused single-session therapy on levels of self-compassion, forgiveness, and marital conflict among married women. Methods: This was an applied research using a single-subject experimental design, specifically the Multiple Baseline Across Subjects (ABA) design. The research population comprised all married women experiencing marital conflicts in Tehran in the year 2023. Participants were recruited voluntarily through announcements. After applying screening criteria, five individuals were selected and underwent baseline, intervention, and follow-up phases. Participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale (Neff, 2003), the Interpersonal Forgiveness Scale (Paleari et al., 2009), and the Marital Conflict Questionnaire (Senaie et al., 2008). Results: The results of this study indicated that solution-focused single-session therapy led to a significant increase in the average percentage of improvement in self-compassion and forgiveness, as well as a decrease in the average percentage of improvement in marital conflict among married women at a significance level of 0.05. Conclusion: The changes in the average percentage of improvement observed with solution-focused single-session therapy suggest that this intervention can lead to immediate improvements in self-compassion, forgiveness, and marital conflict among married women. Frequent and unresolved conflict is a significant relationship risk factor for divorce, but it has also been shown that religion strengthens marriages, specifically in ways that give direction and motivation for couples in resolving marital conflict or other marital hardships. Thus, a study of how successful religious couples resolve conflict is pertinent in helping us better understand how to strengthen marriages and families. Our qualitative study of 113 highly religious women of diverse faiths and races found that women’s perceived relationship or connection with God reportedly impacted conflict resolution and coping with marital hardship. Results suggest greater reconciliation and unity with the women’s husbands through couple and relational processes, but more often through personal and psychological processes. We found that religious involvement led women to resources that strengthened their marriage. Resources discussed include (a) prayer, (b) scripture study, and (c) involvement in a faith community. Introduction: Marital satisfaction is a key indicator of the strength and effectiveness of the family system. The health of a family relies on the presence of a nurturing and evolving relationship; thus, marital satisfaction is essential for establishing a healthy and stable marriage. The present study was conducted to identify the factors that affect marital satisfaction.Method: The present study employed a qualitative, data-driven approach. The study population consisted of premarital counseling specialists who had been professionally active in Tehran in 2021 and had a minimum of five years of counseling experience. A total of 20 specialists participated in the present study. Participants were selected using purposive and accessible sampling methods. The primary tool used in the current study was semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the interviews was conducted using a categorization (coding) method.Results: Data analysis resulted in the identification of 25 open codes, 6 central codes, and a selected code of "marital satisfaction and a healthy, stable marriage." The analysis of the findings revealed that various factors contribute to marital satisfaction. Personality traits serve as reinforcing factors, while satisfying basic needs and strengthening communication skills act as enhancing factors. The results of the study indicate that personality traits—such as emotional stability, high self-confidence, responsibility, flexibility, and moral conscience—along with the fulfillment of basic needs (including the need for love and respect, personal growth, recognition, deep sexual relationships, and physical affection) and the enhancement of communication skills (such as conversational abilities, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, empathy, and stress management) significantly contribute to marital satisfaction. The outcomes of the study have been observed at three levels: individual (mental health), couple (adaptation, relationship stability, and reduction of psychological stress), and social (prevention of emotional and legal divorce).Discussion and conclusion: Identifying the factors that enhance and promote marital satisfaction provides valuable insights for counselors and psychologists. This knowledge can assist them in guiding individuals seeking marriage counseling, fostering stable marriages, and mitigating potential harms, as suggested by experts in the Iranian context.

In this study, we examined self–other agreement in married couples to examine the association between their perceptions of self and other psychological problems and dyadic adjustment. We also postulated that dyadic adjustment would moderate self–other agreement ratings on low- and high-visibility traits of psychological problems. Using a cross-informant assessment design, 101 married dyads in three marital groups (non-clinical, transplant, and divorcing dyads) provided reciprocal self and other ratings for psychological problems. Self–other agreement indices were quantified using self–other differences scores and Pearson r, qualifying (Q) correlations. The self–other agreement models yielded significant differences in dyadic adjustment across couple types. Couples that demonstrated moderate to elevated levels of self–other agreement for psychological problems had higher levels of dyadic adjustment. Differences in self–other psychological problem ratings were robust predictors of dyadic maladjustment and poor relational quality. Dyadic adjustment was found to moderate self–other agreement for psychological problems, especially for wives' appraisals and husbands' attunement to wives' low-visibility problems. The findings validate the impact of self–other agreement in models of relationship conflict and adjustment. Wive's other views tended to have large effect sizes in dyadic adjustment. Parental burnout is a significant risk factor in the degree of preschool children's screen media use, alongside marital conflict and parental smartphone dependence. However, the interactions between parental burnout and these risk factors in influencing preschool children's screen media use remain unclear. The study used network analysis to explore the intercorrelations between parental burnout, marital conflict, and parental smartphone dependence, as well as to compare the intercorrelations between high-risk and low-risk subgroups of screen media use, consisting of 758 preschool children who completed parent-report questionnaires. Results emphasized the central roles of the emotional exhaustion dimension in the network, as it exhibited higher strength and betweenness centrality. Additionally, the study also identified a higher correlation between marital conflict, parental smartphone dependence, and emotional exhaustion in parental burnout. Notably, the findings found no differences in the network structure between the high-risk and low-risk subgroups. These findings highlight the significance of addressing parental emotional exhaustion, marital conflict, and parental smartphone dependence in influencing children's screen media use. The implementation of targeted interventions, focusing on specific nodes within the network, has the potential to enhance the efficacy of interventions aimed at reducing excessive screen media use in preschool children. AbstractIn the current study, the authors aimed to investigate the post-traumatic growth (PTG) among infertile women who experience conflicts with their spouses, and the role of personal coping strategies in mitigating such influences. A total of 267 infertile female patients were recruited from a reproductive medical center in China. OLS regressions with moderation effects of coping strategies were conducted. Our results showed that coping strategies had the main influence on infertile women’s PTG, and minimizing and avoiding marital conflicts had a particularly negative effect on PTG when infertile women adopted greater maladaptive coping strategies. This study examined the associations of child behavioral problems with parental adjustment and whether family processes mediated such associations. Cross-sectional data were collected from the fathers, mothers, and class teachers of 186 kindergarten-aged children with special educational needs from Hong Kong, China (mean age = 61.6 months, and 136 of them were boys). Using questionnaires, parents reported their children's behavioral problems and their own adjustment and family processes. Meanwhile, class teachers rated children's behavioral problems. Multigroup analyses supported a mediation model that was invariant across fathers and mothers. Controlling for child and family demographic information, child behavioral problems were linked positively to parental depression and negatively to parental life satisfaction. Moreover, the link of child behavioral problems with parental depression was fully mediated by family economic pressures, marital conflict, and parent–child conflict, whereas the link of child behavioral problems with parental life satisfaction was fully mediated by family economic pressures and marital conflict. Theoretically, our findings pointed to the importance of considering multiple family processes in understanding the relationship between child characteristics and parental well-being among families with children with special educational needs. Practically, our findings highlighted the possible utility of equipping fathers and mothers of children with special educational needs with skills to reduce children's problem behaviors, cope with financial hardship, and manage marital and parent–child conflict. Public Policy Relevance Statement: This study demonstrated that, for both fathers and mothers of children with special educational needs, the negative association of child behavioral problems with parental well-being was mediated by multiple family processes, including family economic pressures, marital conflict, and parent–child conflict. Therefore, practitioners and policymakers may consider helping both fathers and mothers reduce children's misbehaviors, manage financial hardship, and deal with family conflict. Background: The global surge in refugee populations has sparked considerable apprehension regarding their mental health. This study explores the symptom profile and associated factors among refugee patients admitted to Okasha Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University, hospitals between 2018 and 2021. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted utilizing the medical records of refugee patients admitted to Okasha Institute of Psychiatry between 2018 and 2021. Data collection encompassed socio-demographic characteristics, diagnoses, reported stressors, and specific symptom profiles. Results: The study involved 36 refugee patients, averaging 26.7 years, predominantly female (61.1%), and predominantly of Sudanese origin (45.9%). Prevalent diagnoses included bipolar disorder (36.8%), schizophrenia (26.3%), and major depressive disorder (13.2%). A diverse array of stressors emerged, with immigration-related issues ranking highest (21.2%). Other noteworthy stressors comprised marital conflicts (15.2%) and house-related difficulties (15.2%). Conclusion: This study highlighted the prevalence of severe mental illnesses, varied stressors, and distinct symptom profiles in refugees with psychiatric admissions and underscored the imperative for culturally sensitive and trauma-informed mental health services. In China, the emotional needs in marriage and love among contemporary female college students are gradually increasing. These emotional needs profoundly influence their future choices in marriage, love, and family life. Therefore, exploring the antecedent variables and boundary effects of emotional needs in marriage and love is of great significance. This study utilized a questionnaire method to survey 450 female college students in a specific region of China. It focused on the relationship between parental marital conflict and female college students' emotional needs in marriage and love, particularly examining the mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction and the moderating role of feminist identity. The results indicated that: (1) Perception of parental marital conflict negatively predicts female college students' emotional needs in marriage and love; (2) Basic psychological need satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between perception of parental marital conflict and female college students' emotional needs in marriage and love; (3) Feminist identity significantly moderates the second half of the mediation model. Specifically, for female college students with a high level of feminist identity, the positive predictive effect of basic psychological need satisfaction on emotional needs in marriage and love is weaker. This means that female college students with a high level of feminist identity can maintain higher levels of emotional needs in marriage and love despite perceiving more parental marital conflicts, even when their basic psychological need satisfaction is lower. Purpose: The Love Together, Parent Together (L2P2) program is a brief, online couple's intervention designed to prevent relationship deterioration by targeting maladaptive psychological processes. Methods: The current study used a parallel-group randomized controlled trial of L2P2 to examine its feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness. One-hundred forty couples with young children (< 6 years old) were randomly assigned to L2P2 or a control group. In three writing sessions over nine weeks, all couples completed fact-based summaries about recent conflicts; the L2P2 group also responded to three writing prompts eliciting conflict reappraisal. Participants completed baseline, post-intervention, and 1- and 3-month follow-up assessments. Results: Goals related to feasibility and acceptability were met. In addition, the control group, but not the L2P2 group, showed deteriorating relationship quality from baseline to post-intervention. Objective: Various studies have examined the multiple factors through which couples' attachment styles can play a role in creating marital conflicts. In the present study, the mediating role of interpersonal mindfulness is investigated as a factor that may explain part of the role of anxious-insecure attachment style in creating marital conflicts among couples. Methods and Materials: In this correlational-descriptive study, a total of 402 couples who visited counseling centers in Tehran in 2023 were selected using convenience sampling. They responded to the Interpersonal Mindfulness Scale (Pratscher et al., 2019), the Revised Experiences in Close Relationships Questionnaire (Fraley et al., 2000), and the Kansas Marital Conflict Scale (Eggman et al., 1985). Data analysis was done using structural equation modeling. Findings: Findings indicated that anxious-insecure attachment style affects marital conflict both directly and indirectly through interpersonal mindfulness. Additionally, anxious-insecure attachment style and interpersonal mindfulness explain 20% and 16% of the variance in marital conflict, respectively. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicated that interpersonal mindfulness mediates the relationship between anxious-insecure attachment style and marital conflicts among couples. Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Paradox Timetable Cure (PTC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Matrix (ACTM), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) on differentiation and emotional self-regulation in women experiencing marital conflicts. Methods: The research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up stages. The study sample consisted of 60 women with marital conflicts, selected through purposive sampling from an initial group of 154. The participants were randomly assigned to four groups: PTC, MACT, EFT, and a control group, each containing 15 members. The intervention included ten 90-minute sessions for each therapy group, while the control group received no treatment. Data were collected using the Differentiation of Self Inventory and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc tests were used for data analysis. Findings: The results indicated significant improvements in differentiation and emotional self-regulation across all three therapeutic approaches compared to the control group. ACTM and EFT were found to be slightly more effective than PTC in enhancing differentiation and emotional self-regulation (MACT and EFT p = .000, PTC p = .004 in differentiation; ACTM and EFT p = .000, PTC p = .001 in emotional self-regulation). Conclusion: All three therapeutic approaches--PTC, MACT, and EFT--were effective in improving differentiation and emotional self-regulation in women with marital conflicts. However, ACTM and EFT demonstrated marginally higher effectiveness compared to PTC. These findings suggest the utility of these therapies in clinical settings for addressing marital conflicts. Objective: The objective of the present study was to predict marital satisfaction in married women based on cognitive emotion regulation strategies with the mediating role of resilience. Methods: This descriptive-correlational study employed a structural equation modeling approach. The statistical population included all married women experiencing marital conflict who visited clinics and counseling centers in District 5 of Tehran in 2021. From this population, 250 women were selected using a non-random, convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the Sanaei Marital Conflict Questionnaire (1998), the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale (1981), the Garnefski and Kraaij Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2006), and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (2003). The data were analyzed using correlation tests and structural equation modeling. Findings: The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between cognitive emotion regulation strategies and resilience with marital satisfaction (P < 0.01). The findings supported the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation strategies and marital satisfaction in married women experiencing marital conflict (P < 0.01). Additionally, the modified model showed a good fit. Conclusion: The results demonstrated that resilience and cognitive emotion regulation strategies play an important role in marital satisfaction. Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of forgiveness therapy on psychological distress and psychological flexibility in women with marital conflicts. Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental, with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population included all women with marital conflicts who referred to health centers in District 3 of Tehran in 2022. The sample consisted of 30 women who scored lower in psychological flexibility and distress tolerance. They were selected through non-random voluntary sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Data were collected using the Distress Tolerance Scale by Simons and Gaher (2005) and the Psychological Flexibility Questionnaire by Dennis and Vander Wal (2010) in both pre-test and post-test stages. The session content was prepared according to the forgiveness therapy model by Enright and Fitzgibbons (2015). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and covariance analysis. Findings: The results of the covariance analysis indicated that the mean scores of psychological distress and psychological flexibility and their components in the experimental group significantly decreased compared to the control group (P = 0.05). This study explored variations in women’s experiences within the family-work system by different earning patterns: where men outearn women, both spouses earn equally, or women outearn men. This examination was conducted in three major ethnic communities in Israel: Jews in the general population, ultra-Orthodox Jews, and Arabs. The analysis focused on three dimensions of the family-work system: behavioral (perceived family and work time), cognitive (assessment of family-work conflict), and affective (marital satisfaction). In all three communities, women who outearned their spouses tended to dedicate more hours to paid work and less to family and household responsibilities. However, based on women’s perceptions, men allocated the same number of hours to family responsibilities, irrespective of their ethnicity or earning patterns. In the Arab community, women earning the same or more than their spouses experienced heightened work-family conflict compared to those with different earning patterns in their community. Finally, ultra-Orthodox women reported the highest levels of marital satisfaction, regardless of earning pattern. The Kashmir conflict over the years has produced a new class of women known as half-widows—wives of disappeared men. Half-widows are differentially affected by conflict due to their relationship with men. This article aims to explore the heterogeneity of the experiences of half-widows. The husband's disappearance not only resulted in their ambiguous marital status but also had a ripple effect on other aspects of life. Therefore, using a socio-ecological approach, this study appropriates Pauline Boss's Ambiguous Loss Theory to understand and analyze the multifaceted vulnerabilities of half-widows. Based on fieldwork in Kashmir, this study argues that the multifaceted vulnerabilities and everyday challenges form complex emotions and conflicting roles and responsibilities due to the half-widow's ambiguous marital status. The disappeared husband's physical absence and psychological presence push the half-widows into a state of flux between the past and present. As a result, half-widows find themselves grappling with socio-economic hardships and psychological distress, exacerbating their unresolved grief and feelings of hopelessness. By highlighting these critical human rights issues, we aim to offer a nuanced perspective on the everyday struggles encountered by half-widows, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of their lived experiences. This study investigates the correlation between household chaos and maternal depression.Methods: This study adopted a cross-sectional design and used the Confusion, Hubbub, and Order Scale, Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Parent-Child Relationship Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory to assess 1947 mothers of children in seven kindergartens in Shanghai, China.Results: The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between household chaos, marital conflict, and maternal depression. Marital conflict also showed a significantly positively correlated with maternal depression. Marital conflict mediates the relationship between household chaos and maternal depression. Parent-child relationships moderated the direct effect of household chaos on maternal depression. When parent-child relationships were low, household chaos had a greater predictive effect on maternal depression. Conversely, when parent-child relationships were high, the predictive effect of household chaos on maternal depression was reduced.Conclusion: This study reveals that parent-child relationships play a protective role in the impact of household chaos on maternal depression. Introduction: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a form of depression that affects new mothers within the first year after childbirth. PPD can negatively impact both the mother’s quality of life and the child’s development. Untreated PPD can lead to adverse outcomes, such as infant growth retardation, poor child survival, impaired development, and undernutrition. The burden of PPD is a significant public health concern, with a global prevalence increase of 18.4% from 2005 to 2015. Early detection and intervention of PPD can mitigate the severity and chronicity of symptoms. Aims: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of PPD among mothers in an urban area of Kolkata and identify any influencing factors. Materials and Methods: The study utilized a cross-sectional design, surveying 189 mothers within the postpartum period of 6 weeks to 1 year. Edinburg Postnatal Depression Scale was used to identify possible PPD. Results: About 29% of the women had probable PPD, 19% had possible depression, and 15% had no depression. Factors associated with depression included low birth weight and primiparity, while financial independence served as a protective factor. Multinomial regression analysis revealed that low-birth-weight babies, marital conflict, lack of support at home, and primiparity had higher odds of depression, whereas financial independence was a protective factor. Age was not statistically significant. Conclusion: A high prevalence of PPD and significant associations with factors emphasized the importance of screening all mothers for PPD, providing medical care and counselling, and ensuring acceptance and support from partners, family, and society.

Background: Filicide, the act of a parent or parental figure killing their child, has been reported in various African countries. However, there is a lack of comprehensive reviews on the prevalence and associated factors of filicide across the African continent, which is characterized by diverse cultural beliefs and practices. This review aims to examine the prevalence and risk factors of filicide in Africa. Methods: This review included studies on filicide in Africa, identified through searches in various databases (PubMed, Scopus, Africa Journal Online, and Google Scholar) using relevant keywords. The Mendeley reference manager was used to organize all identified articles and remove duplicate entries. A two-round screening process was conducted by two independent reviewers, with the final set of articles selected through mutual agreement. The quality of the studies was then assessed. Results: Out of the 107 retrieved articles, only 15 were included in the review. These studies revealed diverse prevalence rates: 3.7% of total homicides, 1.38% of deaths from family violence, and 13.02% for autopsied children. Various potential risk factors for filicide were identified, including unwanted pregnancies, marital conflicts, family disputes and violence, low socio-economic status, mental health issues in perpetrators, and mental, physical, or neurological vulnerabilities in victims. Cultural beliefs were also recognized as contributing factors to filicide. Conclusion: Filicide is a complex and multi-dimensional issue influenced by various individual, familial, and societal factors. Drug abuse is a social issue that impacts not only the addicts but also the family system. Within the family system, the individuals most affected by drug addiction are the wives. Based on previous studies conducted in Western countries, the impacts of drug addiction on wives include economic strain, marital conflict, and issues related to mental well-being. Furthermore, a review of past studies indicates that there is a lack of research focusing specifically on the wives of drug addicts in the context of Malaysia. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to identify the levels of economic strain, marital conflict, and mental well-being among the wives of B40 drug addicts in Malaysia. The study sample was selected using purposive sampling, involving 132 respondents. The instruments used were the Economic Strain Scale, The Marital Conflict Subscale from the Braiker-Kelly Partnership Questionnaire, and the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS). The data obtained were analyzed descriptively using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 27. The findings of the study indicate that the majority of respondents experience moderate levels of economic pressure, marital conflict, and mental well-being. These findings provide an initial understanding for researchers and psychological practitioners in Malaysia to conduct further studies and develop appropriate interventions specifically for the wives of B40 drug addicts in Malaysia. Objectives: The purpose of this research was to investigate how fathers’ individual characteristics and the quality of their marital relationships influence co-parenting. Previous research on fathers’ perceptions of coparenting has been relatively under-explored. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the direct impact of fathers’ family-of-origin experiences on co-parenting and to examine the indirect effects mediated by marital conflict and fathers’ psychological well-being. Methods: Data were collected from a sample of 250 fathers with preschool-aged children (aged 3 to 5). Fathers completed comprehensive questionnaires assessing their family-of-origin experiences, levels of marital conflict, psychological well-being, and perceptions of co-parenting. Results: The findings revealed several significant relationships. Firstly, fathers’ family-of-origin experiences had a notable direct impact on co-parenting. Secondly, these experiences indirectly influenced co-parenting through the pathway of marital conflict. Thirdly, fathers’ family-of-origin experiences indirectly affected coparenting through their psychological well-being. Additionally, fathers’ family-of-origin experiences had an indirect impact on co-parenting through sequential pathways involving marital conflict and psychological well-being. Specifically, stronger positive experiences from fathers' family-of-origin were associated with reduced levels of perceived marital conflict, leading to enhanced psychological well-being and more positive perceptions of co-parenting. Conclusion: This study enhances our understanding of the factors influencing co-parenting from the perspective of fathers. The results highlight the importance of interventions aimed at improving fathers’ perceptions of co-parenting, emphasizing reflection on family-of-origin experiences, resolution of marital conflicts, and enhancement of psychological well-being through targeted interventions. Background: Marital conflict and disputes involve many issues to be settled between the couples like finance, health, assets, children, postdivorce securities, etc. The traumatic experiences of separation affect their mental health and the future of their children. Not being conscious of their legal rights and court procedures leads to long court litigation, causing distress and trauma to the couples. Aim: The aim of the article is to find out the level of psycholegal awareness among couples in conflict, approaching forums like police and courts, and to find the difference between the two groups. Materials and Methods: A sample of 30 couples each from court and noncourt forums was taken. The demographic details were taken and a psycholegal checklist was administered. It is a cross-sectional study and exploratory research design was applied. Results: There was a significant difference in legal awareness of couples opting for redressal in the court and those opting for counseling in noncourt resolution centers. The effectiveness of Gottman's Systemic Cognitive Couple Therapy on marital conflicts, communication patterns, and alexithymia in couples with marital conflict was examined. Methods and Materials: This study utilized an applied and quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up, accompanied by a control group. The statistical population of this study included all couples who referred to counseling clinics in District 1 of Tehran from June to September 2023. Among them, 30 couples were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The interventions included seven sessions of Gottman's Systemic Cognitive Couple Therapy (2008) administered to the experimental group. Data were collected using the Christensen and Sullaway (1984) Communication Patterns Questionnaire, the Bagby, Parker, and Taylor (1994) Alexithymia Scale, and the Barati and Sanai (1996) Marital Conflict Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and SPSS-22 software. Findings: The results of data analysis indicated that systemic cognitive couple therapy was effective on marital conflicts (F=40.30, P<0.001), communication patterns (F=13.53, P<0.001), and alexithymia (F=3.59, P=0.036) in couples with marital conflict (P<0.01). Conclusion: It can be concluded that couple therapy can be utilized to improve marital conflicts, communication patterns, and alexithymia in couples experiencing marital conflict. • Studies of marital quality and health have targeted conflict as the key mechanism. • As conflict declines over time, partner distress may grow more central. • Recent work has linked partner distress to proinflammatory reactivity. • This study was the first to compare reactivity to partner distress and conflict. • Proinflammatory gene expression rose further with partner distress than conflict. Marital quality shares ties to inflammatory conditions like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. For decades, research has focused on marital conflict as a primary mechanism given its potential to trigger inflammatory responses. However, longitudinal evidence suggests that marital conflict declines over time, and little attention has been paid to the inflammatory aftermath of other types of marital exchanges. A spouse's emotional distress is an important but overlooked marital context, as partners are exposed to each other's upsetting emotions throughout adulthood. To directly compare reactivity in proinflammatory gene expression to these two marital stressors and to examine differences by age and marital satisfaction, 203 community adults ages 25–90 (N = 102 couples) provided blood samples and rated their negative mood before and after they 1) watched their partner relive an upsetting personal memory and, in a separate visit 1–2 weeks later, 2) discussed a conflictual topic in their relationship. Controlling for age, sex, race/ethnicity, BMI, alcohol use, smoking, and comorbidities, increases in proinflammatory gene expression were significantly larger after the partner's upsetting disclosure than after marital conflict (B = 0.073, SE = 0.031, p =.018). This pattern paralleled emotional reactivity to the tasks, wherein negative mood rose more in response to the partner's disclosure than to marital conflict (B = 4.305, SE = 1.468, p =.004). In sum, proinflammatory and mood reactivity to spousal distress exceeded reactivity to marital conflict, a well-established marital stressor. Findings reveal spousal distress as a novel mechanism that may link marriage to inflammation-related diseases, and even pose risks for both happy and unhappy couples across adulthood. This study tested children's emotion recognition as a mediator of associations between their exposure to hostile and cooperative interparental conflict and their internalizing and externalizing symptoms. From 2018 to 2022, 238 mothers, their partners, and preschool children (Mage = 4.38, 52% female; 68% White; 18% Black; 14% Multiracial or another race; and 16% Latinx) participated in three annual measurement occasions. Path analyses indicated that Wave 1 observations of hostile interparental conflict predicted residualized increases in children's emotion recognition accuracy (i.e., angry, sad, and happy) at Wave 2 (β =.27). Wave 2 emotion recognition, in turn, predicted residualized decreases in children's internalizing symptoms at Wave 3 (β = −.22). In Mexico social dynamics are changing toward less traditional arrangements. With a qualitative interview study, we explore the link between marital conflict and mothers' ability to foster healthy dietary habits. Sample consisted of 21 middle-class cohabitating mothers of preschoolers. Results suggests that marital conflict leads women to experiences of tension, ambivalence, or inaction on fostering healthy eating habits. Parents' mismatch in gender beliefs, food preferences, time orientation, and risk aversion play a role in creating disagreements. Objective: This study aimed to examine associations between mothers' COVID‐19 stress, marital conflict, and parenting, focusing on mothers raising children ages 3–5. Specifically, we examined the potentially protective role of mothers' social capital for parenting behaviors. Background: Despite numerous studies reporting the negative impacts of mothers' stress on marital relationships and parenting behaviors, little is known about how mothers' stress due to COVID‐19 is associated with marital conflict and parenting behaviors. Method: We collected data from 306 mothers in South Korea in 2021 during the early stages of the COVID‐19 pandemic. Results: We found that marital conflict significantly mediated the relationship between mothers' COVID‐19 stress and positive parenting behaviors. The moderating effect of social capital was not significant in the negative relationship between COVID‐19 stress and positive parenting behaviors but was significant in the negative relationship between marital conflict and positive parenting behaviors. Further analysis showed a significant negative relationship between marital conflict and positive parenting only when the level of social capital was equal to the mean value or higher, and the relationship was stronger with higher levels of social capital. Conclusion: The findings show that mothers' stress due to COVID‐19 can be associated with increased marital conflict and decreased parental functioning. Implications: The significant moderating effect of social capital in the relationship between marital conflict and positive parenting behaviors highlights the need to examine social capital's role in the COVID‐19 pandemic. Objective: This study aims to model the structural equations of emotional divorce based on dark personality traits and conflict resolution styles with the mediation of marital conflicts. Methods and Materials: The research method was descriptive-correlational based on structural equations. The statistical population included all married women aged 25-50 years at Islamic Azad University (Yadegar-e-Imam, Abolfatoh Razi (Mothers), and Tehran North campuses) in the first half of 2021, selected online due to the COVID-19 pandemic using convenience sampling. The research instruments included the Emotional Divorce Questionnaire (Gottman, 1994), the Dark Triad Personality Questionnaire (Johnson & Webster, 2010), Rahim's Conflict Resolution Styles (Rahim, 1983), and the Marital Conflict Questionnaire (Sanaei, 1996). Data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software. Findings: The results of structural equation modeling indicated that the proposed model fits the empirical data (RMSEA = 0.063). There was a significant relationship between Machiavellianism and emotional divorce (β = 0.173), and between constructive style (β = -0.556) and non-constructive style (β = 0.26) with marital conflicts. The indirect path coefficient of narcissistic traits (P = 0.007), constructive (P = 0.011) and non-constructive conflict resolution styles (P = 0.005) with the dependent variable emotional divorce through the mediating variable of marital conflicts was significant. However, the mediating role of marital conflicts in the relationship between antisocial traits (P = 0.798) and Machiavellianism (P = 0.877) with emotional divorce was not confirmed. Conclusion: Dark personality traits and constructive conflict resolution styles can indirectly affect emotional divorce by influencing marital conflicts, in addition to their direct effect. Problematic social media use (PSMU) has been recognized as a growing concern among adolescents. This study aimed to estimate the cumulative effects of multi-contextual risk factor on PSMU using a cumulative risk model, while also considering potential sex differences. In this study, a sample of 446 Chinese adolescents (47.09% males; Mage = 13.31; SD = 1.21) were recruited as participants. Self-reported questionnaires were used to collect data from the participants at two separate intervals over the span of one year. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to determine the combined impact of multi-contextual risk factors at Time 1 on PSMU at Time 2. Results revealed that parent-adolescent conflict, low future orientation, academic stress, externalizing problems, and SMU intensity were significant risk factors for PSMU, and there is a cumulative risk effect of these factors on PSMU. Moreover, there was significant moderating effect of gender in the relation between the cumulative impact of risk factors at Time 1 and PSMU at Time 2. As the number of risk factors increased, the mean scores of PSMU at Time 2 in females increased significantly faster than the mean scores of PSMU at Time 2 in males. The current findings will provide valuable insights into identifying adolescents who are at risk and assist in the effective implementation of comprehensive preventive measures and interventions aimed at addressing PSMU among adolescents. Caring relationships among families and providers are at the heart of high-quality early care and education (ECE). This study examines relationships between parents and providers in a nationally representative sample of infants and toddlers and their families (N = 527) enrolled in the two-generation Early Head Start (EHS) program in the U.S. EHS' primary services include home visiting and center-based early education, taking a whole family approach to provide comprehensive services within caring and trusting relationships. Using weighted lagged regression models, we found that parent and provider reports of their positive relationships with one another at age 2 years were related to some child and family outcomes at the end of their EHS experience at age 3 years. Providers who reported better relationships with parents rated children as having lower behavior problems and enhanced social competence, language comprehension, language production, and home environments. Parents who reported better relationships with providers also reported lower parenting stress and family conflict. Findings suggest that caring relationships between providers and parents are a key part of high-quality ECE within an environment dedicated to an ethic of care not just for children, but for the whole family. This study examined longitudinal dyadic and within‐partner associations among self‐esteem, subjective happiness, and marital conflict in married couples, with a possible moderating role of wives' employment status. Data were analyzed from the Panel Study on Korean Children, nationwide longitudinal data. The study sample included 1668 married couples (N = 3336 participants) where both partners provided separate data annually across three waves. Husbands' and wives' mean ages at T1 were 39.3 and 36.8 years, respectively. For both partners, self‐esteem and subjective happiness were related bidirectionally at an individual level. Wives' marital conflict was linked to husbands' subsequent marital conflict and vice versa. Wives played a greater role in their husbands' self‐esteem than vice versa. Findings suggest that wives tend to be their husband's substantial source of perceived psychological well‐being than the reverse; however, the benefit of psychological well‐being is likely to be lower for husbands of stay‐at‐home wives. Objective: Marital burnout is one of the factors related to the marital conflicts, so the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of systemic family therapy on marital conflicts and marital burnout in couples. Methods: The ongoing study adopted a semi-experimental research design consisting of pre)test and post-test measurements with a control group. The target population for this investigation comprised married women seeking assistance at the counseling center in the second educational district of Baharestan in 2023. Following specific eligibility criteria, 30 married women were selected randomly and divided into two groups: 15 individuals in the control group and 15 individuals in the experimental group. The research instruments utilized were Sanai Zaker's Marital Conflict Questionnaire (2000) and the Couple Burnout Measure (CBM) (Pines, 1996). Results: Data analysis involved the application of multivariate and univariate analysis of covariance to examine the hypotheses using SPSS version 22 software. The findings indicated that the implementation of family therapy proved to be efficacious in diminishing marital conflicts and burnout among married women. The present study aimed to translate and validate the Romantic Partner Conflict Scale (RPCS) in Pakistani Married Couples. Forward-Backward Method was applied for translations into Urdu to establish conceptual equivalence and cultural relevance. A sample of 300 married couples was collected for construct validation of RPCS established through Confirmatory Factor Analysis with SEM with the confirmed factors of Compromise, Domination, Submission, Separation, Avoidance, and Interactional Reactivity (total of 37 items, 2 items were deleted). All subscales showed good internal consistency and composite reliabilities. Moreover, testing for measurement invariances across husbands and wives further confirmed the factor structure for dimensions of RPCS. Finally, further associations revealed that constructive conflict strategies of Compromise and Avoidance were positively associated with positive relational variables such as internal marital locus of control, constructive communication, marital quality, and intimacy, but were negatively correlated with demand-withdraw patterns, associations for destructive conflict strategies of Interactional Reactivity and Domination with these relational variables were revealed contrary to the constructive strategies. The present study revealed Separation and Submission as mixed strategies as they were positively associated with majority of positive and negative relational variables.
