The current study aimed to assess the influence of rootstocks (‘IAC 572’ and ‘IAC 766’) and potassium fertilization with different sources (KCl and K2SO4) and concentrations (0, 75, 150 and 300 kg ha-1 K2O) regarding to yield performance and grape quality of ‘Niagara Rosada’, as well as the variation of K availability in soil. Thus, yield components; physical characteristics of bunches and berries; chemical composition, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activity of grape berry; leaf K content; and variation of K availability in soil were evaluated in two consecutive seasons (2017 and 2018). Results showed no influence of rootstocks on yield performance of ‘Niagara Rosada’; however, grapevines grafted on to ‘IAC 766’ produced berries with higher concentration of total flavonoids and anthocyanins. Furthermore, KCl provided higher concentration of total flavonoids and anthocyanins compared to K2SO4. In general, potassium sources had similar effects on the variation of K availability in soil. Results indicated that there was small effect between K doses with regards to production and qualitative parameters. We therefore estimated a fertilization rate of 150 kg ha-1 K2O to maintain K concentration in soil after each production cycle

The objective of this study was to assess the content of bioactive compounds, organic acids and antioxidantcapacity of grape juices from Isabel Precoce, BRS Carmem, BRS Cora and IAC 138-22 Máximo varieties grown onthe 'IAC 766?and 'IAC 572?rootstocks under tropical conditions in Brazil. In general, the color attributes of the'Isabel Precoce' juice were inferior to those of the other juices due to their low anthocyanin content. In contrast,'IAC 138-22 Máximo' juices showed the highest content of most individual anthocyanins,flavonols,trans-re-sveratrol and total phenolic compounds, and thus, higher antioxidant capacity. Except for 'BRS Carmem', all thejuices presented higher sugar accumulation when 'IAC 766?was used. This rootstock also contributed to theaccumulation oft-resveratrol and most of individual anthocyanins in the 'IAC 138-22 Máximo' juices. The length of the main phenological stages was recorded within two production seasons. Total thermal demand was calculated using the degree-day concept. The berries' titratable acidity and soluble solids contents were determined during maturation. Results indicated that IAC 572 and IAC 766 rootstocks along with potassium fertilization had no influence on the phenological cycle or thermal demand of the Niagara Rosada grapevine. The production cycle lasted 144 to 148 days with thermal demands ranging from 1,465.2 to 1,615.1 degree-days. For better grape quality, i.e., with a balance between soluble solids and acidity levels, it is estimated that the grape harvest is carried out around 21 to 24 days after the veraison. The productive components (number of bunches, production per vine, yield, number of berries per bunch, fresh mass, length, and width of berries) and the grape must physicochemical composition (pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids, and maturation index) were determined after four consecutive harvest seasons. Results from analysis of variance and principal component analysis showed that Cabernet Franc and Syrah were generally more productive than the other ones. In addition to that, Cabernet Sauvignon presented the lowest production and the smallest grape berries of all. With regards to rootstocks, IAC 766 induced higher scions yield than 106-8 Mgt; besides that, IAC 766 had greater affinity with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which was observed by the increase in the number of bunches per vine, larger and heavier bunches, as well as higher soluble solids content and pH value than the ones in 106-8 Mgt. Furthermore, IAC 766 also induced higher soluble solids content and pH value for Cabernet Sauvignon. Results showed similar effects for Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, regardless of the rootstocks. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the best combination of rootstock and training system for 'Sauvignon Blanc', in Jundiai, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. To assess the data, a randomized block design in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme was used, that is, two rootstocks ('IAC 766 Campinas' and '106-8 Mgt') and two training systems (low and high espaliers), with four replications. The characteristics assessed were production, physicochemical analysis and concentration of bioactive compounds. With regard to the physicochemical composition of the grape must, the results indicated that the tested combinations are within the standard requirements for the winemaking industry; outcomes may change according to the rootstock used, i.e., an increase in production or an increase in the nutritional quality of the fruits. Nevertheless, '106-8 Mgt' rootstock showed great yield in both training systems, that is, an increase of up to 80%. Finally, 'Sauvignon Blanc' must be grafted on to 'IAC 766 Campinas' rootstock through a low espalier system to achieve a high content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids, and high antioxidant activity. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of rootstocks on grape production, quality and antioxidant capacity of ‘Niagara Rosada’ grape in two productive cycles. The work was developed in Jundiaí-SP, Brazil (26° 06’ S, 46° 55’ W and an average altitude of 745 m). The experimental design was in randomized blocks with subdivided plots, the plots being represented by the rootstocks and the subplots by the production cycles, with four replications, each consisting of 6 plants. The treatments consisted of a combination of ‘IAC 313 Tropical’, ‘IAC 572 Jales’, ‘IAC 571-6 Jundiaí’, ‘IAC 766 Campinas’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’ as rootstocks and ‘Niagara Rosada’ as graft, and the production cycles were 2013 and 2014. The number of bunches, production and productivity of the vines, the physical characteristics of bunches, berries and stalks and the physicochemical composition of the must (soluble solids content, titratable acidity, pH and the relation soluble solids/titratable acidity) were evaluated in production cycles of 2013 and 2014). The content of chlorophylls, anthocyanins, carotenoids, flavonoids and total phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of grapes were also evaluated in grape berries. The rootstocks did not influence the production and physical quality of ‘Niagara Rosada’ grapes. As for the chemical characteristics, rootstocks only had an effect on solids content, and ‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’ rootstocks promoted higher values of this characteristic. Likewise, the total phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of the grapes were not influenced by the studied rootstocks. The vines in 2013 presented higher production and better physical characteristics of the grapes, however, the soluble solids content in this cycle was lower than in 2014. Objetivou-se avaliar a influência de porta-enxertos na produção da videira, na qualidade e capacidade antioxidante da uva ‘Niagara Rosada’ em dois ciclos produtivos. O trabalho foi realizado em Jundiaí-SP, Brasil (26° 06’ S, 46° 55’ W e uma altitude média de 745m). O delineamento experimental foi de blocos causalizados em parcelas subdivididas, as parcelas foram representas pelos porta-enxertos e as subparcelas pelos ciclos de produção, com quatro repetições, constituídas de 6 plantas. Os tratamentos consistiram na combinação entre os porta-enxertos ‘IAC 313 Tropical’, ‘IAC 572 Jales’, ‘IAC 571-6 Jundiaí’, ‘IAC 766 Campinas’ e ‘106-8 Mgt’ e a variedade copa ‘Niagara Rosada’, e os ciclos produtivos de 2013 e 2014. O número de cachos, produção e produtividade das videiras, as características físicas de cachos, bagas e engaços e a composição físico-química do mosto (teor de sólidos solúveis, acidez titulável, pH e relação sólidos solúveis/acidez titulável) foram avaliados nos ciclos de produção de 2013 e 2014. Avaliou-se ainda nas bagas das uvas o conteúdo de clorofilas, antocianinas, carotenoides, flavonoides e compostos fenólicos totais e a atividade antioxidante. Os porta-enxertos não influenciaram a produção e a qualidade física da uva ‘Niagara Rosada’. Quanto as características químicas houve efeito dos porta-enxertos apenas no teor de sólidos solúveis, sendo que os porta-enxertos ‘IAC 766’ e ‘106-8 Mgt’ promoveram maiores valores dessa característica. Da mesma forma, os compostos fenólicos totais e a atividade antioxidante das uvas não foram influenciados pelos porta-enxertos estudados. As videiras, em 2013 apresentaram maior produção e melhores características físicas das uvas, no entanto, o teor de sólidos solúveis nesse ciclo foi inferior ao de 2014.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of phosphate fertilizer levels on production parameters and accumulation of dry matter, phosphorus, starch and resistant starch in green fruits. Four banana genotypes were cultivated under the same cultural practices, with varying levels of phosphate fertilizers during three production cycles. Bunches were harvested and evaluated for total fruit mass, average finger mass and yield. Fresh green fruit pulps were analyzed for dry matter, phosphorus, starch and resistant starch content. The results showed that the effects of phosphate fertilizer were genotype dependent and that the increase of P2O5 rates applied in banana fertilization promoted an increase in fruit production with higher levels of phosphorus, starch and resistant starch. This study aimed to assess the application effect of abscisic acid (S-ABA) on color, and total anthocyanin and phenolic compound contents of the ‘Niagara Rosada’ grapes. The experiment was carried out in a commercial vineyard located in Jales, SP, Brazil, during 2014/2015. The randomized block design was used with four treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of applying different concentrations of S-ABA: 0 mg L-1 (control); 400 mg L-1 of S-ABA at the beginning of maturation (BM); 400 mg L-1 of S-ABA in the BM + 200 mg L-1 25 days after the first application (25 DAFA) and 400 mg L-1 of S-ABA in IM + 400 mg L-1 at 25 DAFA. At harvest, the following variables were evaluated: luminosity (L*), saturation (C*), hue (h°) and color index (CIRG). The total anthocyanin content, as well the total phenolic compounds of berries were also determined. The application of 400 mg L-1 of S-ABA in the BM + 200 mg L-1 to 25 DAFA significantly increased the total anthocyanin content of the ‘Niagara Rosada’ grapes, improving the color of the berries as well. This study aimed to assess the rootstocks influence over total phenolic compound content, antioxidant activity and its correlation in different red and white grapes cultivars for wine production. This study conducted an experimental three-year-old vineyard, located in Jundiai, in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, from July 2013 to January 2014. Red and white grapes from Vitis vinifera L. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc), V. labrusca L. (Isabel and Bordo) and hybrid cultivars (IAC 138-22 Maximo, BRS Violeta, IAC 116-31 Rainha, IAC 21-14 Madalena and BRS Lorena) were grafted on IAC 766 and 106-8 Mgt rootstocks. Samples of grapes were collected and the total carotenoids, chlorophyll, anthocyanin, flavonoid, and phenolic content, and the in vitro antioxidant activity determined using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging method. The rootstocks effects on red grape were mainly observed on the anthocyanins content. The total polyphenols content and the grapes antioxidant activity was virtually not affected by the rootstocks, especially on grapes of BRS Violeta and IAC 138-22 Maximo kinds, which presented the highest content of this compost. Among the white grapes, the 106-8 Mgt rootstock favored the increase of total phenolic compounds content on grapes of Sauvignon Blanc, IAC 116-31 Rainha and IAC 21-14 Madalena kinds. Although the hybrid grapes of IAC 116-31 Rainha e IAC 21-14 Madalena kinds are white grapes, the total phenolic compounds content on them were higher than the ones found on the red grape Isabel. The length of the main phonological stages of the grapevine and its thermal demands were assessed during two growing seasons and expressed as days after pruning and degree-day sum, respectively. Grapevine yield and berry physicochemical characteristics were assessed during three crop seasons. 'Venus' phenological cycle and thermal demands, as well as the chemical characteristics of its grapes, varied with the climate conditions during the crop seasons. Low temperatures increased the grapevine cycle, and higher rainfall indices caused a decrease in the soluble solids of berries, as well as an increase in their titratable acidity. The 'IAC 766' and 'IAC 571-6' rootstocks promote a greater precocity to 'Venus' grapevines, and 'IAC 572' promotes a higher grapevine yield and better physicochemical characteristics of 'Venus' grapes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the phenology, yield and fruit physicochemical characteristics of four persimmon cultivars (Diospyros kaki L.) in Sao Paulo’s Midwest countryside, Brazil. The persimmon cultivars studied were ‘Pomelo’, ‘Rama Forte’, ‘Fuyu’ and ‘Rubi’. The main phenological phases of persimmons trees were evaluated. Despite significant differences between cultivars in the early and intermediate stages of the plants development such as branch development, full blossom and fruiting’s onset, the time required between the fruit’s pruning and harvesting was similar among the cultivars. It could be observed that only ‘Pomelo’ persimmon trees presented male flowers. However on ‘Rubi’, ‘Fuyu’ and ‘Rama Forte’ persimmons trees were found the largest number of female flowers, fruits fixation index and number of fruits per branch. Nevertheless, there were no differences among the cultivars regarding productivity, which could be due to the persimmon fruits physical characteristics. The fruits’ diameter growth behavior was evaluated and it was observed that all cases were defined as double sigmoidal, defined by three single phases. Regarding the chemical characteristics, there were no differences among the cultivars’ pH and soluble solids content; however, in general, the ‘Pomelo’ persimmon fruit presented less titratable acidity and a higher maturation index rating. In this study, a vineyard trellising system supported three years old vines at a density of 6536 plants ha-1. Therefore, evaluations consisted of three pruning seasons: two winter pruning (August 2011 and September 2012) and a summer pruning (January 2012). A complete randomized block design was conducted, subdivided into plots, with five replicates, the plots represented by 5 rootstocks and subplots by pruning seasons. We evaluated bunch number per plant; bunch, berry and rachis fresh mass; berries number per bunch; soluble solid, pH and titratable acidity content in the grape must. Results showed that 'Niagara Rosada' grafted onto 'IAC 572', presented the highest bunch mass (227g), rachis fresh mass (7.5g) and berries number per bunch (66); while 'IAC 313' rootstock performed the lowest values. Moreover, 'IAC 766' and '106-8 Mgt' rootstocks presented the highest soluble solid and titratable acidity content, due to these rootstock's precocity. Furthermore, the highest ratio between soluble solid and titratable acidity was found in 'Niagara Rosada' grafted onto 'IAC 313' and 'IAC 571-6' rootstock. A fração da área coberta pelo dossel (fc) tem sido empregada, em diferentes regiões, para a estimativa do coeficiente de cultivo (Kc) de videiras. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo estimar os valores de Kc de videiras destinadas à produção de uvas para elaboração de suco com base nos valores de fc, nas condições do noroeste paulista. As avaliações foram realizadas de agosto a novembro de 2016 no município de Votuporanga (SP), com as cultivares Isabel Precoce e BRS Carmem enxertadas sobre os porta-enxertos ‘IAC 572’ e ‘IAC 766’. As videiras foram conduzidas no sistema espaldeira e irrigadas por microaspersores. Os valores de fc foram obtidos ao longo do ciclo da cultura e correlacionados à soma térmica diária (ST) por meio de modelos de regressão. Os coeficientes de cultivo (Kc), foram obtidos em função da fc com base no modelo de Allen e Pereira (2009). Para a cultivar BRS Carmem, os valores de fc em função de ST cresceram de forma contínua, segundo um modelo quadrático, enquanto que, para a cultivar Isabel Precoce, os dados se ajustaram melhor ao modelo de Mitscherlich, apresentando um rápido crescimento inicial e se estabilizando após 500 °C dia, aproximadamente. Os valores médios estimados de Kc para as cultivares Isabel Precoce e BRS Carmem foram iguais a 0,81 e 0,74, respectivamente. O modelo empregado nas avaliações permite a realização de estimativas dos valores de Kc para diferentes condições de cultivo.

The yield components (number of bunches and yield per vine, as well as productivity) and the physicochemical characteristics of the bunches and berries of the eight scion-rootstock combinations were evaluated in three seasons. All data were subjected to analysis of variance and principal components analysis. The varieties ‘Isabel Precoce’ ‘BRS Cora’ and IAC 138 22 ‘Máximo’ produced high fruit yield, with the number of bunches and yield per vine similar to one another and superior to those of ‘BRS Carmem’. Significant differences occurred among varieties in the physicochemical grape characteristics. ‘Isabel Precoce’ and ‘BRS Carmem’ grapes had balanced levels of sugar and acid content, and ‘BRS Cora’ presented large bunches and berries, reaching high soluble solids content despite the high acidity. IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’ grape also had large bunches but small berries and limited potential in the accumulation of sugars. The ‘IAC 766’ rootstock resulted in the best performance across all four varieties evaluated, showing maximum results in terms of fruit yield and physicochemical quality attributes of grapes. As mudas de Kunquat ‘Nagami’ ( Fortunella sp.), enxertadas sobre Limoeiro ‘Cravo’ ( Citrus limonia Osbeck) foram adquiridas de um viveiro comercial de citros, localizado no municipio de Jacuba-SP, com 30 dias apos a enxertia. Aos 60 dias apos a enxertia, quando as mudas de Kunquat ‘Nagami’ atingiriam altura media de 40 cm e 22 folhas, foram realizadas quatro aplicacoes do bioestimulante Stimulate ® nas seguintes concentracoes: 0, 50, 100, 150 e 200 mL L -1 de solucao. Realizaram-se avaliacoes no crescimento das mudas aos 7, 14 e 21 dias apos a ultima aplicacao de Stimulate ® . Avaliaram-se as variaveis: altura da planta, numero de folhas, massa fresca e seca da parte aerea, massa fresca e seca da raiz, comprimento da raiz principal, diâmetro do caule do porta-enxerto e do caule da copa, area foliar e o indice relativo de clorofila. Obteve-se, com a dose de 200 mL de Stimulate ® L -1 , aumento na altura da planta, no numero de folhas, no comprimento da raiz e no diâmetro da copa das mudas de Kunquat ‘Nagami’. EFFECT OF STIMULATE ® ON GROWTH OF ‘NAGAMI’ KUNQUAT SEEDLINGS 2 ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Stimulate ® on growth of ‘ Nagami’ Kunquat seedlings in a greenhouse at the Horticulture Department in the College of Agricultural Sciences, UNESP. The seedlings of ‘Nagami’ Kunquat ( Fortunella sp) grafted onto ‘Rangpur’ lime ( Citrus limonia Osbeck) were from a commercial seedling nursery of citrus in Jacuba city-SP and were at 30 days after grafting. At 60 days after grafting, when the seedlings reached 40 cm mean height and 22 leaves, a total of four applications of Stimulate ® plant growth regulator were performed in the following concentrations: 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mL L -1 of solution. Seedling growth evaluations were performed at 7, 14 and 21 days after the last Stimulate ® application. The following variables were evaluated: plant height, number of leaves, above ground fresh and dry matter, fresh and dry matter of roots, length of roots, diameter of the rootstock and canopy stems, leaf area and the relative chlorophyll index. The application of 200 mL Stimulate ® L -1 in ‘Nagami’ Kunquat seedlings led to an increase in plant height, number of leaves, root length and stem diameter of canopies. It has been demonstrated that rootstocks can influence grape characteristics, but there are few data in literature about the rootstocks influence in the wine characteristics, especially in wines elaborated with Vitis labrusca or hybrid grapes. This study evaluated the influence of ‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’ rootstocks on the physicochemical characteristics of ‘Bordô’, ‘Isabel’ and ‘IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’ musts and wines. The musts were evaluated for pH, soluble solids, total acidity and soluble solids/acidity ratio. The wines were evaluated for density, alcohol content; total, volatile and fixed acidity; pH, dry extract, reducing sugars, reduced dry extract, alcohol in weight/reduced dry extract; free and total sulfur dioxide; anthocyanins, polyphenols index (I 280); polyphenols and total flavonoids and antioxidant activity. The ‘Bordô’, ‘Isabel’ and IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’ musts had low soluble solids for winemaking. The ‘106-8 Mgt’ rootstock promoted higher dry extract content and reduced dry extract in Bordô wine, and lower total and fixed acidity in IAC 138-22 Máximo wine. In Isabel wine, higher pH was promoted by the ‘IAC 766’ rootstock. Aside from low total acidity of the Bordô wine, all the physicochemical characteristics of the wines studied are in accordance with Brazilian law. There was no effect of rootstocks in the phenolics content and antioxidant activity of wines. RESUMO Tem sido demostrado que os porta-enxertos podem influenciar as características da uva, no entanto, há poucos dados na literatura sobre o efeito dos porta-enxertos nas características dos vinhos, especialmente quando elaborados com uvas Vitis labrusca ou híbridas. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a influência de porta-enxertos nas características físico-químicas dos mostos e vinhos Bordô, Isabel e IAC 138-22 Máximo. Foram utilizadas uvas ‘Bordô’, ‘Isabel’ e IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’, enxertadas sobre os porta-enxertos ‘IAC 766’ e ‘106-8 Mgt’. Os mostos foram avaliados pelo pH, sólidos solúveis, acidez total e relação sólidos solúveis/acidez. Nos vinhos, avaliou-se: densidade, teor alcoólico, acidez total, volátil e fixa; pH, extrato seco, açúcares redutores, extrato seco reduzido, álcool em peso/extrato seco reduzido; dióxido de enxofre livre e total; antocianinas, índice de polifenóis (I 280); polifenóis e flavonoides totais e atividade antioxidante. Os mostos das uvas ‘Bordô’, ‘Isabel’ e IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’ apresentaram baixos teores de sólidos solúveis para vinificação. O porta-enxerto ‘106-8 Mgt’ promoveu maior teor de extrato seco e extrato seco reduzido no vinho Bordô, e menor acidez total e fixa no vinho IAC 138-22 Máximo. No vinho Isabel, maior pH foi promovido pelo porta-enxerto ‘IAC 766’. Com exceção da baixa acidez total do vinho Bordô, todas as características físico-químicas dos vinhos estudados estão de acordo com a legislação brasileira. Red grapes varieties (‘Isabel’, ‘Bordô’, ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’ and ‘BRS Violeta’) and white grapes varieties (‘IAC 116-31 Rainha’, ‘IAC 21-14 Madalena’ and ‘BRS Lorena’) were grafted on two rootstocks (‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’) and therefore assessed during cultivation. The 14 scion-rootstock combinations were analysed during four consecutive harvests (from 2011 to 2014) for yield components (number of bunches, yield per vine, and productivity) and physicochemical traits of bunches and berries (fresh mass, length and width of bunchs, berries and rachis, soluble solids content, pH, titratable acidity and maturity index of grape must). Results showed that ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’ was the most productive hybrid, but also presented low soluble solids content and high titratable acidity. Regarding to white grapes varieties, ‘BRS Lorena’ performed the highest yield associated with high sugar content in grapes. Rootstocks influenced some grapevine traits, but with variations among the grape varieties. In general, in terms of yield and physicochemical characteristics of the grapes, the cultivars ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’, ‘BRS Lorena’ and ‘Bordô’ presented better results grafted on ‘IAC 766’. In contrast, ‘Isabel’ and ‘IAC 116-31 Rainha’ were better combined with the ‘106-8 Mgt’. The ‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’ resulted in similar performances in ‘BRS Violeta’ and ‘IAC 21-14 Madalena’, for that reason, both rootstocks may be recommended for these varieties. A avaliação de genótipos de bananeira, durante ciclos sucessivos de produção em diferentes ecossistemas, é essencial não só ao programa de melhoramento genético, mas, também, para indicar cultivares promissores para o sistema produtivo local. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento e a produção da bananeira 'Thap Maeo' (AAB), no Vale do São Francisco, durante o primeiro e o segundo ciclos de produção (da colheita da planta-mãe à colheita da planta-filha) e os atributos de qualidade de seus frutos. As mudas de 'Thap Maeo' foram produzidas pelo processo de cultura de tecidos e transplantadas ao campo aos seis meses de idade, em espaçamento 3,0 m x 3,0 m. As características avaliadas foram: ciclos de produção; em cada ciclo, a altura de planta, o perímetro do pseudocaule, o número de folhas por planta, o número de dias entre plantio e colheita, a massa da matéria fresca do cacho, o número de pencas e de frutos por cacho, a massa da matéria fresca da segunda penca; número, comprimento e diâmetro de frutos da segunda penca, relação polpa/casca, firmeza, pH, sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT) e relação SS/AT. A bananeira 'Thap Maeo' apresentou, no segundo ciclo, maior crescimento, melhor desempenho dos caracteres que expressam a produção e qualidade dos frutos em pós-colheita.

As mudas foram produzidas pelo processo de cultura de tecidos, na Biofábrica de Cruz das Almas, BA, e transplantadas para o campo com seis meses de idade, cultivadas no espaçamento 3 x 3 m. Foram avaliados os ciclos de produção (em dias) e, em cada ciclo, a altura das plantas, o perímetro do pseudocaule e o número de folhas adultas. Quanto à produção, foram avaliadas as seguintes características: massa da matéria fresca do cacho; número de pencas e de frutos por cacho; massa da matéria fresca da 2ª penca; número, comprimento e diâmetro de frutos da 2ª penca; relação polpa/casca; firmeza; pH; sólidos solúveis (SS); acidez titulável (AT) e a relação SS/AT. Verificou-se diferença significativa para a maioria das variáveis analisadas: o segundo ciclo de produção da bananeira 'Prata Anã' foi menor do que o primeiro, sendo que, no segundo ciclo, ocorreram tendências de maior crescimento e de melhor desempenho dos caracteres que expressam a produção e a qualidade física dos frutos. Evaluation of the behavior of banana genotypes in different ecosystems is essential in a breeding program, making it crucial for the production system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth behavior of banana 'Prata Anã' (AAB) in the 1st and 2nd cycles of production and fruit physical-chemical attributes in the sub- middle region of the São Francisco River Valley. The seedlings were produced by tissue culture in a Biofactory in Cruz das Almas - BA and transplanted to the field after six months, in a spacing of 3 x 3 m. It was evaluated the production cycles (in days) and in each cycle, plant height, pseudostem perimeter and the number of mature leaves. The following characteristicsof production were evaluated: bunch fresh mass, number of cluster and fruits per bunch; fresh mass of the 2nd cluster, number, length and diameter of fruits in the 2nd cluster; pulp/skin ratio; firmness, pH, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA) and SS/TA ratio. There was significant difference for most variables: the second production cycle of banana 'Prata Anã' was shorter than the first, on the second cycle occurred trends of increased growth and better performance of the characters that express production and fruit physical quality.

RESUMO A avaliação de genótipos tetraploides, oriundos de cruzamentos entre cultivares comerciais triploides e diploides, melhorados ou selvagens, tem sido feita visando a solucionar os problemas tradicionais dos cultivares tipo Prata, como a susceptibilidade à pragas e doenças. Objetivou-se avaliar a produção e a qualidade de frutos de bananeiras ‘Pacovan Ken’ e do genótipo PA94-01, durante o primeiro e o segundo ciclos de produção, no Submédio do Vale do São Francisco. As mudas foram produzidas pelo processo de cultura de tecidos e transplantadas para o campo com seis meses de idade, tendo sido cultivadas no espaçamento de 3 m x 3 m. Nos dois ciclos foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis: número de dias entre plantio e colheita, altura de planta, perímetro do pseudocaule, número de folhas adultas, massa fresca do cacho, número de pencas e de frutos por cacho, massa fresca da segunda penca, número, comprimento e diâmetro de frutos da segunda penca, relação polpa/casca, firmeza, pH, sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT) e relação SS/AT. O genótipo PA94-01 apresentou plantas mais vigorosas e com melhores características produtivas nos dois ciclos de produção. Todavia a duração do ciclo e as características físicas e químicas de frutos foram semelhantes às dos frutos da ‘Pacovan Ken’.

Pruning guava trees at different times is an important management tool that allows year-long staggering of fruit production. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the phenological characteristics, yield and fruit quality of the 'Paluma' guava tree at different pruning times in Botucatu, SP. The study used a completely randomized design with four treatments, four replicates and a useful experimental plot plant. The treatments consisted of four different pruning times, August 27, September 11, September 26 and October 11. The following phenological phases were evaluated: branch establishment, flowering, early fruiting, fruit ripening and harvesting. It was determined the number of flower buds, fixed fruits and fixation index fruit were determined. The fruit growth curve was obtained by measuring the transverse and longitudinal diameter. At the time of harvest, the number of fruits per plant, yield and productivity were measured. In the harvested fruits, the fresh mass, the transverse and longitudinal diameter, the flesh and core thickness, the flesh and core mass, soluble solids, titratable acidity and pH were determined. The 'Paluma' guava trees pruned in August showed higher phenological stage durations than the other pruning times; however, those pruned in early September showed higher fixation index fruit, fruit yield and better physical characteristics. The guava trees pruned in August showed lower titratable acidity values and higher soluble solids/titratable acidity ratio. RESUMO A poda da goiabeira em diferentes épocas é uma importante prática de manejo que permite a produção escalonada dos frutos ao longo do ano. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar as características fenológicas, produtivas e de qualidade de frutos da goiabeira 'Paluma' em função de diferentes épocas de poda em Botucatu, SP. Foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos, quatro repetições e uma planta útil por parcela experimental. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro diferentes épocas de poda de goiabeiras 'Paluma', sendo elas: 27 de agosto, 11 de setembro, 26 de setembro e 11 de outubro. Foram avaliadas as seguintes fases fenológicas: estabelecimento de ramos, florescimento, início da frutificação, maturação dos frutos e colheita. Foi determinado o número de botões florais, número de frutos fixados e o índice de pegamento de frutos. A curva de crescimento de frutos foi obtida através da medição semanal do diâmetro transversal e longitudinal dos frutos. Na ocasião da colheita foi avaliado o número de frutos por planta, a produção e a produtividade. Nos frutos colhidos determinou-se a massa fresca; diâmetro transversal, longitudinal e sua relação; espessura do mesocarpo - polpa, e do endocarpo - miolo; massa de polpa e miolo e suas relações; teor de sólidos solúveis, acidez titulável e sua relação e pH. As goiabeiras 'Paluma' podadas no mês de agosto apresentaram maior duração das fases fenológicas que as demais épocas de poda, no entanto juntamente com aquelas podadas no início de setembro apresentaram maiores índice de pegamento de frutos e produção e melhores características físicas dos frutos. As goiabeiras podadas em agosto apresentaram ainda, menores valores de acidez titulável e maiores valores na relação sólidos solúveis/acidez titulável.

Isotopic analyses and chromatographic analysis (phenolic compounds and biogenic amines), can be applied to investigate the functional and nutritional quality in different grape juices and wines. These beverages when produced exclusively from grapes contain bioactive compounds. In this way, the isotopic analysis, as well as the determination of phenolic compounds and biogenic amines were performed with the aim of verify the functional quality of juices and wines produced with Vitis vinifera and Vitis labrusca grapes. The samples that were analyzed consisted of four whole juices, two nectars, two V. vinifera wines, and two V. labrusca wines. Regarding the isotopic analyses, only one nectar, among the beverages studied, presented the addition of sugar from C4 plants. Wines from V. vinifera showed the highest content of biogenic amines and phenols; whereas, the highest content of anthocyanins were found in V. labrusca. The levels of biogenic amines and phenolic compounds were variable between samples, and recommendations for consumers should be made considering several conditions, such as physiological state, age, consumption, among others. Anthocyanins and biogenic amines, as well as isotopic analyses, can be applied as tools to measure the quality of grape derived beverages.

Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar a produção e a qualidade de frutos, em pós-colheita, das bananeiras 'Maravilha' e 'Preciosa', no primeiro e segundo ciclo de produção, cultivadas no Submédio do Vale do São Francisco. As mudas, produzidas por cultura de tecidos, foram transplantadas para o campo com seis meses de idade, cultivadas no espaçamento de 3 x 3 m. Nos dois ciclos avaliados, para todas as características, foi adotado o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com dois tratamentos (cultivares), dez repetições e duas plantas úteis por parcela, com bordadura externa ao ensaio. Foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis: ciclo de produção (dias entre plantio e colheita), altura de planta, perímetro do pseudocaule, número de folhas adultas, massa da matéria fresca do cacho, número de pencas e de frutos por cacho, massa da matéria fresca da segunda penca; número, comprimento e diâmetro de frutos da segunda penca, relação polpa/casca, firmeza, pH, teor de sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT) e relação SS/AT. ABSTRACT The characterization and evaluation of new genotypes bananas is an important step both for breeding programs and for nomination to producers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield and fruit quality post-harvest of 'Maravilha' and 'Preciosa' bananas in the first and second production cycles, grown in Sub-middle São Francisco Valley. The seedlings produced by tissue culture, were transplanted to the field after six month old, cultivated in the spacing of 3 x 3 m. Both two cycles, for all characteristics was adopted a completely randomized design with two treatments (cultivars), 10 replicates and two plants per plot, with external borders test. The following variables were evaluated: production cycle (days between planting and harvesting), plant height, pseudostem perimeter, number of adult leaves, bunch fresh mass, number of cluster and fruits per bunch, fresh mass of the second cluster; number, length and diameter of fruits of the second cluster, pulp/skin ratio, firmness, pH, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA) and SS/TA ratio. The 'Maravilha' banana showed plant and yield characteristics superior to 'Preciosa' banana; in the physical and chemical characteristics, the 'Preciosa' banana had fruit with higher sugar content, however, smaller size; and for other characteristics, the two cultivars showed behavior similar to each other in the first and second production cycles. O mosto das uvas foi avaliado quanto ao pH, sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez total (AT) e relação SS/AT. No vinho, realizaram-se as seguintes análises físico-químicas: densidade, teor alcoólico; acidez total, volátil e fixa; pH; extrato seco; açúcares redutores; extrato seco reduzido; álcool em peso/extrato seco reduzido; dióxido de enxofre livre e total; índice de polifenóis totais (I 280), polifenóis totais, flavonoides; e atividade antioxidante. In wine, the following physicochemical analyses were performed: density, alcohol content; total, volatile, and fixed acidity; pH; dry extract; reducing sugars; reduced dry extract; alcohol in weight/reduced dry extract; free and total sulfur dioxide; total polyphenol index (I 280); total polyphenols; flavonoids; and antioxidant activity. Must characteristics of 'IAC 21-14 Madalena' were not affected by rootstocks; however, the 'IAC 766 Campinas' rootstock promoted higher SS/TA in 'IAC 116-31 Rainha' must and lower SS/TA in 'BRS Lorena' must. The 'IAC 766 Campinas' and '106-8 Mgt Ripária do Traviú' rootstocks influenced pH and alcohol content of 'IAC 116-31 Rainha' wine, the dry extract of 'IAC 21-14 Madalena' wine, and the fixed acidity of 'BRS Lorena' wine. There was no influence of the rootstocks on the phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of wines.

O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da incorporação de resíduo de sisal ao substrato comercial sobre a emergência e a qualidade de mudas de jiló e brócolis. Os experimentos foram realizados em casa de vegetação com sombrite 50% no Departamento de Tecnologia e Ciências Sociais da UNEB, em Juazeiro, BA, utilizando-se sementes comerciais de jiló e brócolis. Nas duas espécies, os tratamentos consistiram na incorporação de diferentes porcentagens de resíduo de sisal (RSL) ao substrato comercial Tropstrato®. Foi incorporado: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 e 80% do RSL ao substrato comercial. Determinou-se o índice de velocidade e a porcentagem de emergência das plântulas, e aos 26 dias após a semeadura foram determinadas as seguintes características: comprimento de raiz e da parte aérea, diâmetro do colo, número de folhas, volume de raízes e massa seca da parte aérea e de raízes. O resíduo de sisal pode ser incorporado ao substrato comercial Tropstrato® na formação de mudas de jiló e brócolis sem interferir na sua qualidade, sendo mais indicada a incorporação 50% do resíduo de sisal ao substrato comercial.Sisal residue incorporated into the commercial substrate in the formation of eggplant and broccoli seedlingsAbstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sisal residue incorporation the commercial substrate on the emergency and the quality of eggplant and broccoli seedlings. The experiments were performed in a greenhouse with 50% shade at Department of Technology and Social Sciences of UNEB, in Juazeiro, BA, using commercial seeds of eggplant and broccoli. In both species, the treatments consisted of the incorporation of different sisal residue percentages (SLR) the commercial substrate Tropstrato®. Was incorporated: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 80% of SLR at the commercial substrate. Determined the speed index and the percentage of seedling emergence and at 26 days after sowing were determined the following characteristics: length of root and shoot, stem diameter, number of leaves, root volume and dry weight of shoots and roots. The sisal residue can be incorporated into the commercial substrate Tropstrato® at the formation of eggplant and broccoli seedlings without impinging on the quality, 50% incorporation of more appropriate sisal residue the commercial substrate.

A fração da área coberta pelo dossel (fc) tem sido empregada, em diferentes regiões, para a estimativa do coeficiente de cultivo (Kc) de videiras. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo estimar os valores de Kc de videiras destinadas à produção de uvas para elaboração de suco com base nos valores de fc, nas condições do noroeste paulista. As avaliações foram realizadas de agosto a novembro de 2016 no município de Votuporanga (SP), com as cultivares Isabel Precoce e BRS Carmem enxertadas sobre os porta-enxertos ?IAC 572? e ?IAC 766?. As videiras foram conduzidas no sistema espaldeira e irrigadas por microaspersores. Os valores de fc foram obtidos ao longo do ciclo da cultura e correlacionados à soma térmica diária (ST) por meio de modelos de regressão. Os coeficientes de cultivo (Kc), foram obtidos em função da fc com base no modelo de Allen e Pereira (2009). Para a cultivar BRS Carmem, os valores de fc em função de ST cresceram de forma contínua, segundo um modelo quadrático, enquanto que, para a cultivar Isabel Precoce, os dados se ajustaram melhor ao modelo de Mitscherlich, apresentando um rápido crescimento inicial e se estabilizando após 500 °C dia, aproximadamente. Os valores médios estimados de Kc para as cultivares Isabel Precoce e BRS Carmem foram iguais a 0,81 e 0,74, respectivamente. O modelo empregado nas avaliações permite a realização de estimativas dos valores de Kc para diferentes condições de cultivo. Made available in DSpace on 2017-09-21T00:12:11Z (GMT).
