Abstract

The article reports on the $1.2 million loss of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) during its convention in Hawaii. Bret Marsh, AVMA Treasurer announced the deficit at the annual leadership conference. The cause of the shortfall was due to the costly and remote location, many exhibitors and veterinarians steered clear of the Hawaii show and the raising AVMA expenditures. Furthermore, the high cost of hotels and food compounded the expenses of the association.
