The article discusses the author's experience of escaping the Japanese occupation in Hong Kong in 1942. The author disguised as a Philippine citizen following an order from a Japanese superior that all captives in a hotel where they are confined except Germans, Italians, Swiss, Portuguese and Filipinos will be going to Stanley Prison. Despite granting him a temporary freedom, Japanese officers kept investigating his identity. He had received help from Chinese guerillas for a payment of $25,000.
