Unter »Selbstführung« werden heute bei näherer Hinsicht zwei verschiedene Dinge verstanden: zum einen so etwas wie »Selbstoptimierung«, d. h. quantitative Leistungssteigerung, deren Ziele undiskutiert dem neoliberalen Denkmuster entnommen werden. Davon zu unterscheiden ist zum anderen eine Art von Selbstführung, bei der der Einzelne auch die Zielrichtung seines Handelns bewusst bestimmt (Selbstorientierung). Der unterschiedliche Charakter dieser beiden Arten der Selbstführung wird als Konsequenz einer Weichenstellung des europäischen Denkens im 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. zwischen der sokratischen und der sophistischen Denkrichtung erläutert. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden die beiden heute geltenden Auffassungen von »Selbstführung« differenziert und erörtert. Die Mehrzahl der Führungslehren scheint dem sophistischen Muster zu folgen; als Beispiel für das sokratische Denkmuster wird die Dialogische Führung/Dialogische Kultur vorgestellt, wie sie am Hardenberg Institut seit ca. 30 Jahren entwickelt wird.

Learning of complex auditory sequences such as music can be thought of as optimizing an internal model of regularities through unpredicted events (or “prediction errors”). We used dynamic causal modeling (DCM) and parametric empirical Bayes on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to identify modulation of effective brain connectivity that takes place during perceptual learning of complex tone patterns. Our approach differs from previous studies in two aspects. First, we used a complex oddball paradigm based on tone patterns as opposed to simple deviant tones. Second, the use of fMRI allowed us to identify cortical regions with high spatial accuracy. These regions served as empirical regions‐of‐interest for the analysis of effective connectivity. Deviant patterns induced an increased blood oxygenation level‐dependent response, compared to standards, in early auditory (Heschl's gyrus [HG]) and association auditory areas (planum temporale [PT]) bilaterally. Within this network, we found a left‐lateralized increase in feedforward connectivity from HG to PT during deviant responses and an increase in excitation within left HG. In contrast to previous findings, we did not find frontal activity, nor did we find modulations of backward connections in response to oddball sounds. Our results suggest that complex auditory prediction errors are encoded by changes in feedforward and intrinsic connections, confined to superior temporal gyrus., Perception of complex auditory stimuli requires the brain to update a model of its environment. Using dynamic causal modeling for functional magnetic resonance imaging during a melodic oddball paradigm, we show increased intrinsic connectivity within Heschl's gyrus (HG) and a concomitant increase in forward connectivity from HG to planum temporale in the left cerebral hemisphere. We did not find evidence of frontal activity. Our results are consistent with a predictive coding account of perceptual learning within the superior temporal gyrus.

As a consequence of the global financial crisis Germany experienced the deepest slowdown of its economy since World War II. However, given the sharp decrease of GDP the German labour market was quite stable compared to previous recessions when the labour market response was stronger. Therefore, there are empirical indications for temporary labour hoarding and it can be shown that the most significant factor for securing jobs was a reduction of working time. At the beginning of the crisis the conditions for short-time work became more attractive to firms. Therefore, non-subsidised forms of working time reductions or labour hoarding were complemented by public subsidies in the form of short-time work.

Mehr als eine Dekade nach Einführung der Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende im Jahr 2005 zieht das IAB erneut Bilanz. Der Bericht bündelt die Ergebnisse der Wirkungsforschung zur Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende aus den Jahren 2013 bis 2016 und bietet somit eine Gesamtschau der in diesem Zeitraum gewonnenen Erkenntnisse. Vorgestellt werden Befunde zu folgenden Themenkomplexen: - Struktur und Dynamik im Leistungsbezug - Beratung und Vermittlung in den Jobcentern - Wirkungen arbeitsmarktpolitischer Maßnahmen - Lebenslagen und soziale Teilhabe der Leistungsberechtigten - Gesamtwirtschaftliche Perspektiven auf die Grundsicherung Auf Basis dieser Forschungsergebnisse reflektieren die Autoren die bisherige Entwicklung der Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende und verweisen auf zukünftige Herausforderungen.

Music has always played a central role in human culture. The question of how musical sounds can have such profound emotional and rewarding effects has been a topic of interest throughout generations. At a fundamental level, listening to music involves tracking a series of sound events over time. Because humans are experts in pattern recognition, temporal predictions are constantly generated, creating a sense of anticipation. We summarize how complex cognitive abilities and cortical processes integrate with fundamental subcortical reward and motivation systems in the brain to give rise to musical pleasure. This work builds on previous theoretical models that emphasize the role of prediction in music appreciation by integrating these ideas with recent neuroscientific evidence.

Seit Anfang der 90er Jahre hat sich die Zusammensetzung der Erwerbsformen stark verändert. Vollzeitnahe, unbefristete Beschäftigungsverhältnisse ohne Zwischenschaltung einer Zeitarbeitsagentur haben in den letzten beiden Dekaden absolut und relativ an Bedeutung verloren. Atypische Erwerbsformen wie Teilzeitbeschäftigung, befristete Beschäftigung, Leiharbeit oder auch Ein-Personen-Selbstständige legten dagegen kräftig zu. Atypische Erwerbsformen treten bei Frauen besonders häufig auf und sind im tertiären Sektor stark verbreitet. Den Veränderungen liegt auch ein längerfristiger Trend zugrunde, der bereits deutlich vor den Hartz-Reformen einsetzte. Shift-Share-Analysen zeigen, dass der Wandel weniger aus strukturellen Veränderungen der Erwerbsarbeit wie der wachsenden Beschäftigung von Frauen oder auch den Arbeitsplatzzuwächsen im Dienstleistungssektor resultiert. Vielmehr gibt es Hinweise auf Verhaltensänderungen, für die institutionelle Faktoren, Marktmacht sowie veränderte Präferenzen und Bedürfnisse von Arbeitgebern und Arbeitnehmern verantwortlich sein dürften. Angesichts der schwierigen Gemengelage verbietet sich jedoch eine pauschale Beurteilung des Wandels, zumal sich auch hinter einzelnen Erwerbsformen ein hohes Maß an Heterogenität verbirgt.

Angesichts der Dimension der jungsten Wirtschaftskrise hielt sich der deutsche Arbeitsmarkt in einem erstaunlich stabilen Zustand. Eine mogliche Ursache ist ein Arbeitskraftehorten, also die betriebliche Strategie, das Beschaftigungsniveau nicht sofort an einen Ruckgang der Produktnachfrage anzupassen. Der Beitrag zeigt auf Basis von aggregierten Daten und Betriebsinformationen, dass Arbeitskraftehorten wahrend der Krise eine besondere Rolle spielte. Zudem wird untersucht, inwieweit Kurzarbeit das Halten der Arbeitnehmer erleichtert hat. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Kurzarbeit auch von Betrieben genutzt wurde, die nicht unter einer Unterauslastung ihrer Kapazitaten litten. Um Mitnahmeeffekte zu vermeiden, sollte der Staat Wege finden, Kurzarbeit zielgerichteter einzusetzen oder funktionale Aquivalente wie flexiblere Arbeitszeitmodelle fordern. The employment situation of older workers in Germany used to be poor. However, in recent years it has improved considerably. Germany has shifted its policies to strengthen the labor market performance of older workers. Policy has focused on less early exits of older workers and far-reaching institutional changes concerning public pension schemes and unemployment benefit systems. A better overall development of the labor market and an increased labor force participation of women contributed to the more favorable employment situation of older workers. Nevertheless, we still observe severe problems for certain groups of older workers. The older workers are and the lower their skill level is the weaker is their labor market integration. If older persons are already unemployed they will experience severe difficulties to (re-)enter the labor market. In order to become actually a country for old workers the issue of employability needs much more attention. Such a strategy relies on continuous skill improvement as well as a healthy environment and does not only address older workers but also younger workers facing a prolonged working life.

Obwohl sich die Beschaftigungssituation Alterer in den letzten Jahren weiter verbessert hat, gelten altere Arbeitslose noch immer als schwer vermittelbar. Verschiedene arbeitsmarktpolitische Instrumente sollen die Wiedereingliederungschancen dieses Personenkreises verbessern. Die Forderung mit der Entgeltsicherung fur Arbeitslose uber 50 Jahre ist daran geknupft, dass diese eine Tatigkeit aufnehmen, die geringer als ihr letzter Job entlohnt ist. Die Entgeltsicherung gleicht dann einen Teil des entstehenden Lohnverlustes aus. Das Kombilohn-Instrument zielt damit auf Personen, die prinzipiell vermittelbar waren, deren Anspruchslohn aufgrund eines relativ hohen Verdienstes in ihrer letzten Beschaftigung aber uber dem am Markt zu erzielenden Lohn liegt. Die Entgeltsicherung ist derzeit befristet in den Kanon der arbeitsmarktpolitischen Instrumente aufgenommen. Sie befindet sich gewissermasen noch in der "Probezeit" und steht im Kontext der anstehenden Instrumentenreform auf dem Prufstand. Dieser Beitrag ordnet die Entgeltsicherung in den arbeitsmarktpolitischen Instrumentenkasten ein, diskutiert Grunde fur ihre derzeit geringe Nutzung und zeigt mogliche Weiterentwicklungen auf.

Zusammenfassung Im September 2009 gab es in Deutschland knapp 1,4 Millionen erwerbstatige Hilfebedurftige, die gleichzeitig ein Erwerbseinkommen und Leistungen der Grundsicherung nach dem Sozialgesetzbuch II (SGB II) beziehen. Aktuell wird im politischen Raum diskutiert, ob man durch eine Veranderung der Hinzuverdienstregeln im SGB II Anreize fur eine Arbeitsaufnahme erhohen und damit eine starkere Arbeitsmarktintegration erreichen kann. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschaftigt sich ausgehend vom Status Quo mit verschiedenen politisch machbaren Variationen der Hinzuverdienstregeln. Die Analysen basieren auf dem IABMikrosimulationsmodell und umfassen Arbeitsmarktwirkungen sowie fiskalische Effekte. Die Berechnungen zeigen, dass die Arbeitsangebotseffekte der Regelanderungen eher gering sind. Den heterogenen Problemlagen in der Grundsicherung kann man nicht allein mit einer Reform der Hinzuverdienstregeln begegnen. Structural genes of phospholipid biosynthesis in the yeast S. cerevisiae are activated by the heterodimeric transcription factor Ino2 + Ino4, binding to ICRE (inositol/choline-responsive element) promoter motifs. In the presence of phospholipid precursors inositol and choline, Ino2-dependent activation is inhibited by the Opi1 repressor which interacts with Ino2. In this work, we systematically investigated the importance of regulatory mechanisms possibly affecting ICRE-dependent gene expression. Autoregulatory expression of INO2, INO4 and OPI1 was abolished by promoter exchange experiments, showing that autoregulation of regulators contributes to the degree of differential gene expression but is not responsible for it. Using GFP fusion proteins, Ino2 and Ino4 were found to localize to the nucleus under conditions of repression and derepression. Interestingly, nuclear localization of Ino2 required a functional INO4 gene. Targeting of a lexA-Ino2 fusion to a heterologous promoter containing lexA operator motifs revealed a constitutive gene activation which was not influenced by phospholipid precursors. We could show that Ino2-dependent activation of a lexA-Ino4 fusion is affected by inositol and choline. Since gene activation required interaction of Ino2 and Ino4 mediated by their helix-loop-helix domains, formation/dissociation of the heterodimer must be considered as an important step of target gene regulation.

Dialogische Fuhrung veranlagt die Zusammenarbeit unter mundigen Menschen im Rahmen einer umfassenden Unternehmenskultur. Deren zentrale Merkmale: Jeder einzelne Mitarbeiter wird als eigenstandige Personlichkeit ernst genommen und unterstutzt. Die je eigene Arbeit wird mit Blick auf das Ganze gestaltet. Die Originalitat der Einzelnen wird geschatzt und gefordert. Das Handeln der Mitwirkenden beruht auf eigener Initiative und Verantwortung im Hinblick auf das Ganze.

Im Rahmen der Europäischen Beschäftigungsstrategie tauschen sich die öffentlichen Arbeitsverwaltungen der Mitgliedsstaaten der Europäischen Union regelmäßig über spezifische Aspekte der Arbeitsvermittlung aus, um voneinander zu lernen. So zeigen etwa Praxiserfahrungen aus anderen europäischen Ländern, wie öffentliche Arbeitsverwaltungen die Integrationschancen von Arbeitslosen durch eine geeignete Ansprache der Arbeitgeber verbessern können.

Summary In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, genes involved in phospholipid biosynthesis are activated by ICRE (inositol/choline-responsive element) up-stream motifs and the corresponding heterodimeric binding factor, Ino2 + Ino4. Both Ino2 and Ino4 contain basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) domains required for ICRE binding, whereas transcriptional activation is mediated exclusively by Ino2. In this work, we describe a molecular analysis of functional minimal domains responsible for specific DNA recognition and transcriptional activation (TAD1 and TAD2). We also define the importance of individual amino acids within the more important activation domain TAD1. Random mutagenesis at five amino acid positions showed the importance of acidic as well as hydrophobic residues within this minimal TAD. We also investigated the contribution of known general transcription factors and co-activators for Ino2-dependent gene activation. Although an ada5 single mutant and a gal11 paf1 double mutant were severely affected, a partial reduction in activation was found for gcn5 and srb2. Ino2 interacts physically with the basal transcription factor Sua7 (TFIIB of yeast). Interestingly, interaction is mediated by the HLH dimerization domain of Ino2 and by two non-overlapping domains within Sua7. Thus, Sua7 may compete with Ino4 for binding to the Ino2 activator, creating the possibility of positive and negative influence of Sua7 on ICRE-dependent gene expression.

Das Institut fur Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB) ist die Forschungseinrichtung der Bundesagentur fur Arbeit. Es betreibt multidisziplinare empirische Arbeitsmarktforschung auf der Grundlage zweier gesetzlicher Auftrage und berat auf dieser Basis Politik, Praxis und Fachoffentlichkeit. Das IAB arbeitet wissenschaftlich unabhangig und nimmt in seiner Themensetzung Impulse sowohl aus der Forschungsgemeinschaft als auch aus Politik und operativer Praxis auf. Zentrale Forschungsthemen des IAB sind beispielsweise Prognosen, die Evaluation der Arbeitsmarktpolitik, regionale und internationale Analysen genauso wie die arbeitsmarktbezogene Bildungs-, Sozial- und Betriebsforschung.

At the beginning of the project, the access and exchange of data within the European scientific community was highly fragmented and the diffusion of information among laboratories was not sufficient. The outcome of an inquiry performed among partner laboratories at the beginning of SERIES showed that data storage in an unstructured way was the common approach in most of the cases. Naturally, access to and elaboration of the data was restricted only to the local users, a fact leading to a very low impact of the results on practice because of their limited dissemination and the difficulties in collaboration among researchers. SERIES (Networking Activity NA1) aimed, among others, at overcoming this state by establishing a culture of preservation of data in a structured way and by facilitating data exchange and collaboration with the broader research community. A structured database in which data are stored according to a commonly agreed Exchange Data Format has been implemented at the SERIES laboratory sites; tools for the management and automatic data import have been developed to facilitate data supply from participating laboratories. The data stored in the local databases are then made publically accessible to external users by means of a Data Access Portal, hosted in the University of Patras. The elements of the so-called SERIES virtual database are here described.

Ältere Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer bleiben heute im Schnitt deutlich länger in Beschäftigung als noch vor wenigen Jahren. Dennoch erreicht nach wie vor nur ein kleiner Teil aus einer Beschäftigung heraus das gesetzliche Renteneintrittsalter. Zudem tun sich ältere Arbeitslose noch immer schwer, wieder einen neuen Job zu finden.

This paper describes the research carried out in the European Commission co-funded project LEMCOTEC (Low Emission Core Engine Technology), which is aiming at a significant increase of the engine overall pressure ratio. The technical work is split in four technical sub-projects on ultra-high pressure ratio compressors, lean combustion and fuel injection, structures and thermal management and engine performance assessment. The technology will be developed at subsystem and component level and validated in test rigs up to TRL5. The developed technologies will be assessed using three generic study engines (i.e. regional turbofan, mid-size open rotor, and large turbofan) representing about 90% of the expected future commercial aero-engine market. Two additional study engines from the previous NEWAC project will be used for comparison. These are based on intercooled and intercooled-recuperated future engine concepts. The compressor work is targeting efficiency, stability margin and flow capacity by improved aerodynamic design. High-pressure and intermediate-pressure compressors are addressed. The mechanical and thermo-mechanical functions, including the variable-stator-systems, will be improved. Axial-centrifugal compressors with impeller and centrifugal diffuser are under investigation too. Three lean burn fuel injection systems are developed to match the technology to the corresponding engine pressure levels. These are the PERM (Partially Evaporating Rapid Mixing), the MSFI (Multiple Staged Fuel Injection) and the advanced LDI (Lean Direct Injection) combustion systems. The air flow and combustion systems are investigated. The fuel control systems are adapted to the requirements of the ultra-high pressure engines with lean fuel injection. Combustor-turbine interaction will be investigated. A fuel system analysis will be performed using CFD methods. Improved structural design and thermal management is required to reduce the losses and to reduce component weight. The application of new materials and manufacturing processes, including welding and casting aspects, will be investigated. The aim is to reduce the cooling air requirements and improve turbine aerodynamics to support the high-pressure engine cycles. The final objective is to have innovative ultra-high pressure-ratio core-engine technologies successfully validated at subsystem and component level. Increasing the thermal efficiency of the engine cycles relative to year 2000 in-service engines with OPR of up to 70 (at max. condition) is an enabler and key lever of the core-engine technologies to achieve and even exceed the ACARE 2020 targets on CO2, NOx and other pollutant emissions: • 20 to 30 % CO2 reduction at the engine level, exceeding both, the ACARE 15 to 20% CO2 reduction target for the engine and subsequently the overall 50% committed CO2 and the fuel burn reduction target on system level (including the contributions from operations and airframe improvements), • 65 to 70 % NOx reduction at the engine level (CAEP/2) to attain and exceed the ACARE objective of 80% overall NOx reduction (including the contributions from both, operational efficiency and airframe improvement), reduction of other emissions (CO, UHC and smoke/particulates) and • Reduction of the propulsion system weight (engine including nacelle without pylon).

Structural genes of phospholipid biosynthesis in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae are transcriptionally co-regulated by ICRE (inositol/choline-responsive element) promoter motifs. Gene activation by an ICRE is mediated by binding of the Ino2/Ino4 transcription factor, whereas repression in the presence of high concentrations of inositol and choline (IC) requires an intact Opi1 repressor. However, the mechanism of specific repression and the functional interplay among these regulators remained unclear from previous work. Using in vivo as well as in vitro interaction assays, we show binding of the pleiotropic repressor Sin3 to the pathway-specific regulator Opi1. The paired amphipathic helix 1 (PAH1) within Sin3 and OSID (Opi1-Sin3 interaction domain) in the N-terminus of Opi1 were mapped as contact sites. The regulatory significance of the Opi1-Sin3 interaction was shown by the obvious deregulation of an ICRE-dependent reporter gene in a sin3 mutant. Opi1 also interacts with a newly identified functional domain of the transcriptional activator Ino2 (RID, repressor interaction domain). These results define the molecular composition of the transcription complex mediating control of ICRE-dependent genes and allow a hypothesis on the flow of regulatory information in response to phospholipid precursors.

Mit der Einführung der Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende im Jahr 2005 erhielt das IAB den gesetzlichen Auftrag, dessen Wirkungen regelmäßig und zeitnah zu untersuchen. Das IAB erforscht nicht nur die Wirkungen der Grundsicherung auf den Arbeitsmarkt, sondern auch der en Effekte für die soziale und kulturelle Teilhabe der Betroffenen.
