IntroductionThe role of fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in early breast cancer treated with preoperative systemic therapy (PST) is not yet established in clinical practice. PET parameters have aroused great interest in the recent years, as non-invasive dynamic biological markers for predicting response to PST.MethodsIn this retrospective study, we included 141 patients with stage II-III breast cancer who underwent surgery after PST. Using ROC analysis, we set optimal cutoff of FDG-PET/CT parameters predictive for pathological complete response (pCR). We investigated the correlation between FDG-PET/CT parameters and pCR, median disease-free survival (DFS), and median overall survival (mOS).ResultsAt multivariable analysis, baseline SUVmax (high vs low: OR 9.00, CI 1.85 – 61.9, p=0.012) and Delta SUVmax (high vs low: OR 9.64, CI 1.84, 69.2, p=0.012) were significantly associated with pCR rates. Interestingly, we found that a combined analysis of the metabolic parameter Delta SUVmax with the volume-based parameter Delta MTV, may help to identify patients with pCR, especially in the subgroup of hormone receptor positive breast cancer. Delta SUVmax was also an independent predictive marker for both mDFS (high vs low: HR 0.17, 95%CI 0.05-0.58, p=0.004) and mOS (high vs. low: HR 0.19, 95%CI 0.04-0.95, p=0.029).DiscussionOur results suggest that Delta SUVmax may predict survival of early BC patients treated with PST.

Um dos grandes desafios na engenharia é a implantação de obras sobre solos com baixa resistência, o solo mole, por exemplo, possui uma característica de baixa resistência, e, por estar sujeito a prolongados recalques merece um estudo criterioso. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a estabilidade de um aterro sobre um trecho de solo mole e, a partir disto indicar medidas para o aumento do fator de segurança do aterro sobre o qual será construído uma rodovia, e, propor melhorias nas condições do solo em relação ao aceleramento de recalque. Primeiramente, com dados dos parâmetros de resistência fornecidos de um perfil de solo mole, foi possível verificar o fator de segurança através do software Slide. Percebeu-se que o solo do aterro, nas condições normais e sem tratamento, obteve um fator de segurança de 0,70, ou seja, menor do que o aceitável em norma, desse modo foi necessária a colocação de bermas de equilíbrio de 12 metros de largura e 1,5 metros de altura e a aplicação de geogrelhas com capacidade de 400 kPa, aumentando o fator de segurança para 1,3. Com relação a análise de recalque verificou-se a necessidade de acelerá-lo, a solução se deu pela colocação de 155.028 metros de drenos em um trecho de 350 metros de rodovia.

O desenvolvimento das cidades no Brasil tem tornado intensivo nos últimos decênios e assim solicitando medidas de organização territorial e corretivas. Uma significativa ferramenta da Engenharia é o mapeamento geotécnico, pois está a ser empregada pelos gestores municipais para que o zoneamento urbano possa ser efetuado de modo consciente e planejado, dirigindo a expansão urbana para áreas seguras e com infraestrutura adequada. Este artigo apresenta uma análise geológica e pedológica do Munícipio de Gaspar (SC) para a formação de um mapeamento geotécnico preliminar, dando ênfase a área de construção do novo anel rodoviário no contorno sul, aonde será construída uma nova rodovia. O estudo resultou na construção de um mapeamento geotécnico com base em um mapeamento geológico e pedológico, e aplicação do SIG ArcGis10. Realizou uma análise das unidades geológicas e pedológicas a partir de 8 mapas fornecidos pelo IBGE, após o cruzamento dos temas geologia, pedologia foi obtido o Mapa Preliminar de Unidades Geotécnicas com unidades as quais foram definidas de acordo com suas características. O objetivo deste mapa, bem como o objetivo do trabalho é colaborar para a organização do território para futuras gerações em termos de vivência e infraestrutura.

Aflatoxins (AF) can be cumulative in fish tissues and can influence weight, length, feed intake and survival depending on the species. The aim of this work is to measure performance and aflatoxin levels in tissues of matrinxã (Brycon cephalus) fish chronically exposed to aflatoxin. Aflatoxin was incorporated into fish diets at the following levels: Control Feed + 0 μg AFB1 kg-1; A. Feed + 10 μg AFB1 kg-1; B. Feed + 20 μg AFB1 kg-1; C. Feed + 50 μg AFB1 kg-1. It was used one tank per treatment, each one with 150 juvenile fish, and three replicates within each tank were used for sampling, that was carried out monthly over a period of six months. Aflatoxin was quantified by HPLC in fish liver and muscle after clean up using immunoaffinity columns. Performance was evaluated by using weight, length, consumption and survival rate. Muscle and liver aflatoxin levels were below the limit of detection in all control samples. Aflatoxins B2, G1 and G2 were not detected in any tissues. Traces (values between limits of detection and quantification) of AFB1 were observed in liver tissue in treatment A from day 30 through 90, reaching 0.32 μg AFB1 kg-1 at 150 days of exposure. Treatment B presented traces up to day 60 and had, with a maximum level of 0.39 μg AFB1 kg-1 at 150 days of exposure. Treatment C had aflatoxin residues after day 30, with values ranging from 0.17 to 0.61 μg AFB1 kg-1 during exposure. Muscle samples only had traces of AFB1 in all treatments.
