In this study, imo 24plus (1-2) AIZE examinations were compared with previous Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA) 30-2 (SITA standard) examinations within the same patient.Patients and methods: imo examinations (either head-mounted [i-H] or fixed [i-F] type) were performed in patients with glaucoma or suspected glaucoma who had already experienced HFA five or more times. Measurement time and correlations of mean deviation (MD) and visual field index (VFI) values were compared between groups for HFA, i-H, i-F, and imo total (i-T). Fixation loss (FL), false-positive (FP), and false-negative (FN) detection rates were compared. The percentage of binocular random single-eye tests under possible non-occlusion conditions using imo was determined. Mann–Whitney U test was performed, and Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient was calculated.Results: The inclusion period was July to December 2016. Among 273 subjects (543 eyes), 147 (292 eyes) were tested with i-H type and 126 (251 eyes) with i-F type. Mean MD values for HFA and i-T were −6.1±7.8 and −6.2±7.1 dB, respectively. Mean measurement times for HFA, i-H, i-F, and i-T were 15.23±2.07, 10.47±2.11, 11.04±2.31, and 10.54±2.19 minutes, respectively (P0.81 for HFA vs i-H and i-F.. FP and FN detection rates were significantly higher with i-T than HFA; there was no significant difference in FL. Binocular random single-eye tests were possible in 85% of cases.Conclusion: imo reduced measurement time by 30.8%. imo VFI and MD values were highly correlated with HFA. As i-F and i-H types produced similar results, imo can be used in accordance with the patient’s situation. Patients with macular diseases often complain of metamorphopsia in addition to decreased visual acuity and visual field defects. Amsler chart has been the conventional method to detect metamorphopsia qualitatively. However, it cannot evaluate visual acuity and the visual field quantitatively. In 1999, we developed a new metamorphopsia chart, M-CHARTS(R), which can evaluate metamorphopsia easily and quantitatively. The clinical application of MCHARTS(R) has enabled quick and easy diagnosis of metamorphopsia in patients with various macular diseases. Moreover, it also helps in determining the therapeutic regimen and following up, and provides a new assessment of visual functions in patients with metamorphopsia.

[Abstract] MIRAgel is a hydrogel implant introduced as a scleral buckling material in 1979.' It is no longer used because of late complications involvingits extrusion and intrusion. We report the MR imaging findings in two patients who developed late complications.

Norio Okamoto, Chota Matsumoto, Yoshikazu Shimomura Department of Ophthalmology, Kinki University Faculty of Medicine, Osakasayama City, Osaka, Japan Background: There are some cases that reported central retinal vein occlusion accompanied by ciliary artery occlusion, however, combined branch retinal artery and vein occlusion is a rare condition that has been infrequently reported. We describe in this report one case of retinal vein occlusion and branch retinal artery occlusion occurring simultaneously.Case presentation: A 50 year-old woman presented with acute visual loss in her right eye. Fundus photography showed retinal ischemia and tortuous, dilated retinal veins in the right eye. With early phase fluorescein angiography, retinal arteries revealed areas absent of branches. Late phase fluorescein angiography demonstrated that areas absent of branches were still present.Conclusion: It is a rare case of branch retinal artery and vein occlusion. We report the findings of spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) at the fixation point in a case of bilateral macular coloboma.Case report: The subject is a4-year-old boy. He visited our hospital at age1year and4months for the evaluation of strabismus. The fundus examination of both eyes showed round-shaped sharply-demarcated atrophic lesions involving the macula with large choroidal vessels and bared sclera at the base. Immunologic tests including toxoplasmosis, rubella, varicella, herpes virus, and human T-cell leukemia virus were all negative. At age4years and1month, cycloplegic refraction showed insignificant refractive errors and his best corrected visual acuity was0.6 bilaterally. The SD-OCT showed a crater-like depression accompanying atrophic neurosensory retina, and the absence of retinal pigment epithelium and choroid. Examination of the fixation behavior by visuscope showed steady fixation with an area0.5° nasal to the nasal edge of the atrophic lesion bilaterally. The SD-OCT findings at fixation area showed remaining normal retinal structures involving inner segment-outer segment (IS/OS) junction line.Conclusion: The findings of SD-OCT have been shown to be useful in the diagnosis of macular coloboma. In the fixation point, the structure of retina and choroid were well preserved.Keywords: pediatric macular disease, macular structure, strabismus
