Context: Decreased trunk neuromuscular control is a risk factor for both upper- and lower-extremity injuries, yet there are few reliable and valid clinical tests to identify deficits. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the reliability and known-groups validity of a novel clinical test, the seated trunk control test (STCT). Design: Cross-sectional reliability and known-groups validity study. Setting: Laboratory. Participants: 89 unique participants: 34 were 3 months postoperative anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and 55 healthy controls. Methods: For the STCT, participants sat on a balance board with their eyes closed for three 30-second trials while investigators counted balance errors. Intraclass correlations (ICCs) were used to assess interrater reliability (N = 20) and test–retest reliability (N = 40). To assess known-groups validity, independent t tests were used to compare STCT errors at 3 months post-ACLR with healthy matched controls (N = 34/group). Area under a receiver operating characteristic curve identified an optimal cutoff for distinguishing between groups. Results: The STCT had perfect interrater reliability (ICC2,3 = 1.00) and good test–retest reliability (ICC3,3 =.79; 95% confidence interval =.61–.89). The ACLR group made significantly more errors on the STCT (mean [SD] = 15.5 [5.4]) than controls (mean [SD] = 8.2 [4.1]; P <.001, Cohen d = 1.52). The STCT's ability to distinguish between groups was excellent (area under a ROC curve = 0.86). A cutoff of 12 errors maximized sensitivity (76%) and specificity (85%). Conclusions: The STCT is reliable between raters and across days. It also has excellent ability to distinguish between individuals with a recent ACLR and healthy matched controls, which provides initial evidence to suggest that the STCT may be clinically useful for identifying deficits in trunk neuromuscular control. Context: An easy-to-administer, function-based questionnaire to assess patients with various foot problems was required for a Greek-speaking population. This study aimed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the Quick Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (Quick-FAAM) into Greek and evaluate its reliability and validity. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Established international guidelines for the cross-cultural adaptation of questionnaires were followed. The face and content validity of the Greek version of the Quick-FAAM (Quick-FAAM-GR), as well as the internal consistency and test-retest reliability upon repeated administration after 5 days, were examined. In addition, the construct validity of the scale was examined via exploratory factor analysis as well as by testing for associations with the Manchester Foot Pain and Disability Index, the 12-item Short-Form Survey (version 2), and a functional balance assessment test--the Y-Balance Test. Results: Sixty participants (18 women) with self-reported chronic ankle instability symptoms, with a median (interquartile range) age of 27 (7.7) years, participated in the study. Half of the participants were included in the test-retest reliability study. The Quick-FAAM-GR demonstrated face and content validity. Excellent internal consistency (Cronbach a =.961) and intrarater test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient ICC[2,1] = .93) were demonstrated, with a comparable error margin to the original version (standard error of the measurement = 2.1, 95% minimum detectable change = 5.9). Associations of the Quick-FAAM-GR scores to other questionnaires ranged from weak to strong (Spearman rho), all being statistically significant (Manchester Foot Pain and Disability Index from -.26, P = .04, to -.67, P< .001, and 12-item Short-Form Survey, version 2, between .41 and .72, P<.001), and to the Y-Balance Test between lower-limb differences (-.35 to -.58, P< .001). The exploratory factor analysis confirmed the single- factor structure of this scale. No floor/ceiling effects were observed. Conclusions: The Greek Quick-FAAM has proven to be a valid and reliable tool for evaluating chronic ankle instability and can be used for clinical and research purposes in Greek- speaking individuals. This study aims to perform the cross-cultural adaptation to European Portuguese of the Composite Physical Function Scale and to assess its validity and reliability in a sample of community-dwelling older adults. The scale was translated into European Portuguese, back translated, and piloted in a sample of 16 representative individuals. Its validity and reliability were tested in an independent sample of 114 community-dwelling older adults (52 were tested twice to assess test–retest reliability). The results showed that the scale had good internal consistency (α =.90), construct validity (ρ =.71) and measurement error (78.8% agreement), and excellent test–retest reliability (κ =.98). However, a ceiling effect was found as 28% of the participants achieved the highest possible score. Although the scale has good measurement properties, the presence of ceiling effects is indicative that this tool is not able to distinguish higher levels of intrinsic capacity within community-dwelling older adults. Purpose: Systematic reviews evaluating and comparing the measurement properties of outcome measurement instruments (OMIs) play an important role in OMI selection. Earlier overviews of review quality (2007, 2014) evidenced substantial concerns with regards to alignment to scientific standards. This overview aimed to investigate whether the quality of recent systematic reviews of OMIs lives up to the current scientific standards. Methods: One hundred systematic reviews of OMIs published from June 1, 2021 onwards were randomly selected through a systematic literature search performed on March 17, 2022 in MEDLINE and EMBASE. The quality of systematic reviews was appraised by two independent reviewers. An updated data extraction form was informed by the earlier studies, and results were compared to these earlier studies' findings. Results: A quarter of the reviews had an unclear research question or aim, and in 22% of the reviews the search strategy did not match the aim. Half of the reviews had an incomprehensive search strategy, because relevant search terms were not included. In 63% of the reviews (compared to 41% in 2014 and 30% in 2007) a risk of bias assessment was conducted. In 73% of the reviews (some) measurement properties were evaluated (58% in 2014 and 55% in 2007). In 60% of the reviews the data were (partly) synthesized (42% in 2014 and 7% in 2007); evaluation of measurement properties and data syntheses was not conducted separately for subscales in the majority. Certainty assessments of the quality of the total body of evidence were conducted in only 33% of reviews (not assessed in 2014 and 2007). The majority (58%) did not make any recommendations on which OMI (not) to use. Conclusion: Despite clear improvements in risk of bias assessments, measurement property evaluation and data synthesis, specifying the research question, conducting the search strategy and performing a certainty assessment remain poor. Background: The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System® (PROMIS) Profile Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) consists of seven CATs and one single item measuring most relevant aspects of health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The aim of our study was to determine construct validity and floor and ceiling effects of the PROMIS Profile CAT in Dutch people with stroke. Methods: People with stroke receiving rehabilitation completed the PROMIS Profile CAT and the EuroQol-5 dimensions (EQ5D). Construct validity was evaluated with hypotheses testing based on expected correlations between the profile domains and the domains of the EQ5D. The proportion of participants with the lowest and highest scores were calculated for each profile domain to assess floor and ceiling effects. Results: 160 participants were included (median age 61 years, 41.9% female). For the PROMIS Profile domains Physical Function, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep Disturbance, Pain Interference, and Pain Intensity > 75% of the results met our hypotheses. For Fatigue and Ability to Participate in Social Roles and Activities only 60% of hypotheses were met. No floor or ceiling effects were found, with the exception of a floor effect for Pain Intensity which probably indicates that many participants had no pain. Conclusion: Most domains of the PROMIS Profile CAT showed sufficient construct validity and no problematic floor or ceiling effects in people with stroke. To determine the content validity of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) for assessing peak oxygen uptake (VO 2peak) in neuromuscular diseases (NMD). Baseline assessment of a randomized controlled trial. Academic hospital. Eighty-six adults (age: 58.0±13.9 y) with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (n=35), postpolio syndrome (n=26), or other NMD (n=25). Not applicable. Workload, gas exchange variables, heart rate, and ratings of perceived exertion were measured during CPET on a cycle ergometer, supervised by an experienced trained assessor. Muscle strength of the knee extensors was assessed isometrically with a fixed dynamometer. Criteria for confirming maximal cardiorespiratory effort during CPET were established during 3 consensus meetings of an expert group. The percentage of participants meeting these criteria was assessed to quantify content validity. The following criteria were established for maximal cardiorespiratory effort: a plateau in oxygen uptake (VO 2plateau) as the primary criterion, or 2 of 3 secondary criteria: (1) peak respiratory exchange ratio (RER peak) ≥1.10 (2), peak heart rate ≥85% of predicted maximal heart rate; and (3) peak rating of perceived exertion (RPE peak) ≥17 on the 6-20 Borg scale. These criteria were attained by 71 participants (83%). VO 2plateau , RER peak ≥1.10, peak heart rate ≥85%, and RPE peak ≥17 were attained by 31%, 73%, 69%, and 72% of the participants, respectively. Peak workload, VO 2peak , and knee extension muscle strength were significantly higher, and body mass index was lower (all P <.05), in participants with maximal cardiorespiratory effort than other participants. Most people with NMD achieved maximal cardiorespiratory effort during CPET. This study provides high quality evidence of sufficient content validity of VO 2peak as a maximal aerobic capacity measure. Objective: To perform a comparison of the measurement properties of two cancer-specific Multi-Attribute Utility Instruments (MAUIs), EORTC QLU-C10D and FACT-8D, in Chinese patients with hematologic malignancies (HM). Methods: We conducted a longitudinal study on patients with HM in China, using QLU-C10D and FACT-8D at baseline and follow-up (3–4 months from baseline). We assessed: (i) convergent validity using Spearman's rank correlation test (r) with EQ-5D-5L; (ii) clinical-groups validity by differentiating cancer stages, overall health assessment (OHA), Eastern Cancer Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, and mental health status. We also examined clinical validity with effect size (ES) and relative efficiency (RE); (iii) responsiveness to changes in patient self-perception using receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves and area under the curves (AUC); and (iv) agreement using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and visualized with Bland-Altman plot. Results: Among the 308 patients with HM at baseline, 131 completed the follow-up survey. Agreement between the two measures was high (ICC = 0.76). Both measures were highly correlated with EQ-5D-5 L and significantly differentiated (p < 0.001) among groups categorized by cancer stage, OHA performance status, and mental health. ESs for QLU-C10D were numerically higher for cancer stage, OHA, and performance status (ES = 0.53–1.49), whereas ES was higher for FACT-8D and mental health status (ES = 1.35). Responsiveness was higher for QLU-C10D (AUC = 0.84) compared to FACT-8D (AUC = 0.78). Conclusion: Both QLU-C10D and FACT-8D are valid cancer-specific MAUIs for evaluating patients with HM. Background: The prevalence of Occupational Burnout is high among healthcare professionals (HCP). Hence, it is crucial to have robust measures for ascertaining burnout in this population. The Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure is a prevalent tool used in the diagnosis of burnout, and in the delivery planning of mental health services. The 14-item Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure (SMBM) was developed after a methodological revision of the 22-item Shirom-Melamed Burnout Questionnaire (SMBQ). Studies on the psychometric properties of the SMBM and SMBQ exist, but there remains a need for thorough evaluation to assess the methodological quality of individual studies. To address this gap, this systematic review aimed to critically appraise the measurement properties of the different versions of the Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure/Questionnaire (SMBM/Q) used among healthcare professionals. Methodology: Four databases (PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO, and Scopus) were searched for studies on the psychometric properties of all versions of the SMBM/Q among HCP. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist. Evidence supporting the measurement properties (EMP) of the SMBM was synthesized using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Results: Our final pool consisted of five research articles. One study on the 12-item SMBM was included to estimate content validity, two studies reported on the 14-item SMBM, while the other two employed the 22-item version. Interestingly, each study used the SMBM in a different language, namely English/Hebrew, Chinese, French, Serbian, and Swedish. Structural validity, internal consistency, and construct validity are the SMBM's most assessed measurement properties. The Hebrew and French versions demonstrated high levels of structural validity and internal consistency, and the remaining reports on validity demonstrated low levels due to methodological flaws. Conclusions: Per COSMIN guidelines, the SMBM should not be utilized for clinical purposes due to insufficient content validity, but has promising potential with ongoing research. Engaging critical stakeholders for concept elicitation will ensure the relevance, comprehensiveness, and comprehensibility of the PRO items. Likewise, establishing an MIC will allow capturing change over time, which will benefit longitudinal experimental studies. Background: This study evaluates the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of persons with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) by using EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 and compares the measurement properties of the two instruments. Method: DLBCL patients were identified via a patient group and were surveyed using web-based questionnaires. Demographic information, socioeconomic status (SES), clinical characteristics, and EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 responses were collected and statistically described. The association between the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 dimensions were analyzed using the Spearman's correlation coefficient, whereas the correlation of the utility scores was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The agreement between the responses of the two instruments were examined using a Bland–Altman (B-A) plot. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to compare the utility scores across subgroups in different clinical states (a t-test was used if there were two subgroups). In addition, the graded response model (GRM) was used to describe the discrimination ability and difficulty characteristics of the dimensions in the two instruments. Results: In total, 582 valid responses were collected, among which 477 respondents were associated with initial-treatment and 105 respondents were relapsed/refractory (RR) patients. The mean (standard deviation [SD]) EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 utility scores of the DLBCL patients were 0.828 (0.222) and 0.641 (0.220), respectively. The correlation between the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 dimensions ranged from 0.299 to 0.680, and the correlation between their utility scores was 0.787. The B-A plot demonstrated an acceptable but not strong agreement between EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 utility scores. The GRM model results indicated that all dimensions of each instrument were highly discriminating overall, but EQ-5D-5L had suboptimal discriminative power among patients with good health. Conclusion: Both the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 showed valid properties to assess the HRQoL of DLBCL patients. However, utility scores derived from the two instruments had substantial difference, thereby prohibiting the interchangeable use of utilities from the two instruments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Medication Treatment Satisfaction (M-TS) from the patients' perspective is important for comprehensively evaluating the effect of medicines. The extent to which current patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for M-TS are valid, reliable, responsive, and interpretable remains unclear. To assess the measurement properties of existing PROMs for M-TS and to highlight research gaps. Methods: Using PubMed, Embase (Ovid), Cochrane library (Ovid), IPA (Ovid), PsycINFO, Patient-Reported Outcome and Quality of Life Questionnaires biomedical databases, and four Chinese databases, we performed a systematic search for studies addressing the development and validation of PROMs for M-TS. Based on the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) guideline, pairs of reviewers independently assessed the measurement properties of the PROMs and rated the quality of evidence on the measurement properties of each PROM. Results: This review identified 69 PROMs for M-TS in 114 studies (four generic, 32 disease-specific, and 33 drug-specific) of which 60 were intended for adults. All provided limited or no information regarding interpretability. Most demonstrated appropriate construct validity including convergent validity (39/69) and discriminative or known-groups validity (40/69) (high to moderate quality of evidence). Only a few provided evidence of sufficient content validity (8/69), structural validity (13/69), and internal consistency (11/69). Of 38 PROMs reporting test–retest reliability, results in 24 provided evidence of satisfactory test–retest reliability (18 with high to moderate, 6 with low to very low quality of evidence). Few PROMs reported responsiveness (16/69). Two generic PROMs (Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication initial Version 1.4, TSQM-1.4; Treatment Satisfaction with Medicines Questionnaire, SATMED-Q) and one drug-specific PROM (Insulin Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire, ITSQ) demonstrated both satisfactory validity and reliability. Conclusions: Most existing PROMs for M-TS require further exploration of measurement properties. Objective: The Generic Version of China Health Related Outcomes Measures (CHROME‐G) was a new preference‐based health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument designed specifically for the Chinese population. This study aimed to validate and compare measurement properties of CHROME‐G with EuroQol‐5 Dimensions‐5 Levels (EQ‐5D‐5L), Short Form‐6 Dimensions version 2 (SF‐6Dv2), and Diabetes‐Specific Quality of Life (DSQL) scales among the elderly Chinese population with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A representative sample population was recruited across the country. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Hypotheses testing including convergent validity and known‐groups validity were evaluated using Spearman's rank correlation and effect sizes, respectively. Sensitivity was examined using relative efficiency and receiver operating characteristic curve. Results: A total of 131 individuals with type 2 diabetes (54.20% male; mean age 69.03 years) were enrolled. Cronbach's alpha was 0.94 for DSQL, 0.93 for CHROME‐G, 0.87 for EQ‐5D‐5L, and 0.88 for SF‐6Dv2. For the convergent validity of CHROME‐G, 24/29 (82.76%) correlations met the predefined hypotheses, with Spearman's rank correlation coefficients ranging from 0.51 to 0.96. Among the different health subgroups, the effect sizes for CHROME‐G, DSQL, EQ‐5D‐5L, and SF‐6Dv2 were 0.19–1.26, 0.36–1.62, 0.22–1.06, and 0.49–0.87, respectively. CHROME‐G, DSQL, and SF‐6Dv2 had higher efficiency compared with EQ‐5D‐5L in detecting differences in self‐reported health status, with relative efficiency of 3.18 and 1.76, 4.38 and 6.52, and 1.56 and 2.09, respectively. Conclusions: CHROME‐G demonstrates relatively good measurement properties compared with EQ‐5D‐5L and SF‐6Dv2 for measuring the HRQoL among the elderly Chinese population with type 2 diabetes. Background: Identifying the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) contributes to the ability to determine the efficacy of physiotherapy interventions and make good clinical decisions. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate the MCID for 6-minute walking distance (6MWD) among inpatients with subacute cardiac disease using multiple anchor-based methods. Methods: This study was a secondary data analysis using only data from a multicenter longitudinal observational study in which 6MWD was measured at two time points. Based on the changes in 6MWD between baseline measurement and follow-up approximately 1 week after baseline measurement, the global rating of change scales (GRCs) of patients and physiotherapists, anchor method receiver operator operating characteristic curves, predictive models, and adjusted models were used to calculate the MCID. Results: Participants comprised 35 patients. Mean (standard deviation) 6MWD was 228.9 m (121.1 m) at baseline and 270.1 m (125.0 m) at follow-up. MCID for each GRC was 27.5–35.6 m for patients and 32.5–38.6 m for physiotherapists. Conclusion: The MCID in 6MWD in patients with subacute cardiovascular disease is 27.5–38.6 m. Purpose: To identify utility-based patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for assessing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention programs (CR) and appraise existing evidence on their measurement properties. Secondly, to link their items to the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health (ICF) and the International Consortium of Health Outcome Measures (ICHOM) domains for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Methods: Eight databases were searched. The review followed the COSMIN and JBI guidelines for measurement properties systematic reviews and PRISMA 2020 reporting guidelines. Non-experimental and observational empirical studies of patients ≥ 18 years of age with CVD undergoing CR and assessed quality of life (QoL) or HRQoL using utility-based PROMs or one accompanied by health state utilities were included. Results: Nine PROMs were identified with evidence on measurement properties for three measures: the German translations of SF-12, EQ-5D-5L, and MacNew heart disease HRQoL questionnaire. There was moderate quality evidence for responsiveness and hypothesis testing of the SF-12 and EQ-5D-5L, and high-quality evidence for responsiveness and hypothesis testing for the MacNew. All items of SF-12 and EQ-5D were linked to ICF categories, but four items of the MacNew were not classified or defined. All the PROM domains were mapped onto similar constructs from the ICHOM global sets. Conclusion: Three utility-based PROMs validated in CR were identified: the German versions of the EQ-5D and SF-12 and the MacNew questionnaire. Objective: This study was to evaluate measurement properties of the Chinese version of the Brief Inventory of Perceived Stress (BIPS-C) and confirm possible solutions for measuring the constructs underlying perceived stress. Methods: A total of 1356 community residents enrolled and were randomly split into two halves. The first half was used to explore the underlying constructs of the BIPS-C by exploratory graph analysis (EGA) and the second half was used to compare and confirm the constructs by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results: The EGA identified a one-factor model of the BIPS-C with an accuracy of 99.3%. One-factor, three-factor, second-order, and bifactor models were compared by CFAs. The bifactor model with one general and three specific factors was found to be the most adequate [comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.990; Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.979; root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.058] and was superior to the other models. The related bifactor indices showed a stronger existence of the general factor. The bifactor model of the BIPS-C also showed adequate internal consistency with McDonald's omega and omega subscales ranging from moderate to strong (0.677–0.869). Purpose: Although comprehensive and widespread guidelines on how to conduct systematic reviews of outcome measurement instruments (OMIs) exist, for example from the COSMIN (COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments) initiative, key information is often missing in published reports. This article describes the development of an extension of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guideline: PRISMA-COSMIN for OMIs 2024. Methods: The development process followed the Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research (EQUATOR) guidelines and included a literature search, expert consultations, a Delphi study, a hybrid workgroup meeting, pilot testing, and an end-of-project meeting, with integrated patient/public involvement. Results: From the literature and expert consultation, 49 potentially relevant reporting items were identified. Round 1 of the Delphi study was completed by 103 panelists, whereas round 2 and 3 were completed by 78 panelists. After 3 rounds, agreement (≥ 67%) on inclusion and wording was reached for 44 items. Eleven items without consensus for inclusion and/or wording were discussed at a workgroup meeting attended by 24 participants. Chronic neck pain has a significant impact on the patient's quality of life. Specific outcome measures like Copenhagen Neck Functional Disability Index (CNFDI), Neck Bournemouth questionnaire (NBQ), and Spine Functional Index (SFI) are reliable and valid measures that have been used for comprehensively evaluating neck-related disabilities. However, responsiveness has not yet been investigated. The aim of this study was to examine the responsiveness and clinically meaningful changes of the CNFDI, NBQ, and SFI for Persian patients with chronic neck pain. Prospective recruitment of 145 patients with chronic neck pain was conducted. Participants completed the Persian versions of CNFDI, NBQ, and SFI at baseline and after 4 weeks of physical therapy. Also, the Global Rating of Change Scale (GRCS) was completed in the post-intervention assessment. The Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve and correlational analysis were used for evaluating the responsiveness. In addition, the Minimal Clinically Important Change (MCIC) was determined. All selected outcome measures revealed an area under the curve of 0.96. The MCICs of 10, 7, and 10 points were found for the CNFDI, NBQ, and SFI, respectively. The results showed an excellent Gamma correlation coefficient of the CNFDI (γ = 0.98), NBQ (γ = 0.99), and SFI (γ = 0.99) with the GRCS. The Persian versions of the CNFDI, NBQ, and SFI have acceptable responsiveness properties for evaluating the changes in health status in patients with chronic neck pain following physical therapy interventions. To evaluate the concurrent validity and test–retest reliability of common movement, strength, and balance tests using portable uniaxial dual force plates. Repeated measures cross-sectional study. Sixteen healthy individuals participated in two testing sessions, where they performed 12 different movement, strength, and balance tests. Vertical ground reaction force and centre of pressure data were collected using the VALD ForceDecks simultaneously with ground-embedded laboratory force plates. Concurrent validity was assessed using root mean square error for raw time-series data and Bland–Altman plots for discrete metrics. Test–retest reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients and minimal detectable changes. ForceDecks recorded vertical ground reaction forces and center of pressure with high accuracy compared to laboratory force plates. The mean bias between systems was negligible (<2 N or 0.1 mm), with small limits of agreement (<5 N or 1 mm). Overall, 530/674 (79%) showed good or excellent validity (<10% difference) and 611/773 (79%) had good or excellent reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient >0.75). ForceDecks reliability was similar to laboratory force plates (<0.07 intraclass correlation coefficient median difference for all metrics). Portable uniaxial force plates record highly accurate vertical ground reaction forces and center of pressure during a range of movement, strength, and balance tests. The VALD ForcDecks are a valid and reliable alternative to laboratory force plates when strict standardized testing and data analysis procedures are followed. Abstract Objective To perform a comparison of the measurement properties of two cancer-specific Multi-Attribute Utility Instruments (MAUIs), EORTC QLU-C10D and FACT-8D, in Chinese patients with hematologic malignancies (HM). Methods We conducted a longitudinal study on patients with HM in China, using QLU-C10D and FACT-8D at baseline and follow-up (3–4 months from baseline). We assessed: (i) convergent validity using Spearman’s rank correlation test (r) with EQ-5D-5L; (ii) clinical-groups validity by differentiating cancer stages, overall health assessment (OHA), Eastern Cancer Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, and mental health status. We also examined clinical validity with effect size (ES) and relative efficiency (RE); (iii) responsiveness to changes in patient self-perception using receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves and area under the curves (AUC); and (iv) agreement using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and visualized with Bland-Altman plot. Background The assessment of psychological resilience can facilitate an understanding of how patients utilize internal and external resources to adapt to adversities, traumas, significant life stressors, and disease treatment. At present, the unity of self-reported scales for assessing the psychological resilience of cancer patients remains controversial. Furthermore, it lacks the integration and standardized evaluation of scale measurement properties, and the selection of evaluation tools lacks evidence-based evidence. Objective To systematically assess the measurement properties of a psychological resilience evaluation tool for cancer patients and critically examine the study's methodological quality, therefore to provide a reference for healthcare professionals in selecting a high-quality assessment tool. Methods A systematic search of databases like PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, CNKI, VIP, CBM, and Wanfang Data was conducted for literature related to the evaluation of the measurement properties of the Cancer Psychological Resilience Scale. The search was done within the time frame of the database's creation to 2023-02-14. All identified articles were rated by two independent assessors following the COSMIN guidelines. Results Thirteen studies were included, and among the nine cancer psychological resilience tools were the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10), the Resilience Scale Specific to Cancer (RS-SC), the 10-item Resilience Scale Specific to Cancer (RS-SC-10), the 14-item Resilience Scale (RS-14), the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS), the SV-RES Resilience Scale (SV-RES), the Ego-Resiliency Scale (ER89-R12), the Pain Resilience Scale (PRS), and the Shift and Persist Questionnaire. All scales—aside from the RS-SC-10, which suggested a "C" because of its poor cross-cultural validity—were rated "B" because of their ambiguous content validity and differing levels of evidence. Conclusion This systematic review provides an overview of psychological resilience assessment tools used in cancer patients. The RS-SC stands out as being one of the most robust instruments for measuring psychological resilience in patients. Evidence needs to be generated and used in the clinical setting.

Abstract Background This study evaluates the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of persons with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) by using EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 and compares the measurement properties of the two instruments. Method DLBCL patients were identified via a patient group and were surveyed using web-based questionnaires. Demographic information, socioeconomic status (SES), clinical characteristics, and EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 responses were collected and statistically described. The association between the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 dimensions were analyzed using the Spearman's correlation coefficient, whereas the correlation of the utility scores was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The agreement between the responses of the two instruments were examined using a Bland–Altman (B-A) plot. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to compare the utility scores across subgroups in different clinical states (a t-test was used if there were two subgroups). In addition, the graded response model (GRM) was used to describe the discrimination ability and difficulty characteristics of the dimensions in the two instruments. Results In total, 582 valid responses were collected, among which 477 respondents were associated with initial-treatment and 105 respondents were relapsed/refractory (RR) patients. The mean (standard deviation [SD]) EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 utility scores of the DLBCL patients were 0.828 (0.222) and 0.641 (0.220), respectively. The correlation between the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 dimensions ranged from 0.299 to 0.680, and the correlation between their utility scores was 0.787. The B-A plot demonstrated an acceptable but not strong agreement between EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 utility scores. The GRM model results indicated that all dimensions of each instrument were highly discriminating overall, but EQ-5D-5L had suboptimal discriminative power among patients with good health. Conclusion Both the EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv2 showed valid properties to assess the HRQoL of DLBCL patients. However, utility scores derived from the two instruments had substantial difference, thereby prohibiting the interchangeable use of utilities from the two instruments.

Abstract Background The prevalence of Occupational Burnout is high among healthcare professionals (HCP). Hence, it is crucial to have robust measures for ascertaining burnout in this population. The Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure is a prevalent tool used in the diagnosis of burnout, and in the delivery planning of mental health services. The 14-item Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure (SMBM) was developed after a methodological revision of the 22-item Shirom-Melamed Burnout Questionnaire (SMBQ). Studies on the psychometric properties of the SMBM and SMBQ exist, but there remains a need for thorough evaluation to assess the methodological quality of individual studies. To address this gap, this systematic review aimed to critically appraise the measurement properties of the different versions of the Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure/Questionnaire (SMBM/Q) used among healthcare professionals. Methodology Four databases (PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO, and Scopus) were searched for studies on the psychometric properties of all versions of the SMBM/Q among HCP. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist. Evidence supporting the measurement properties (EMP) of the SMBM was synthesized using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Results Our final pool consisted of five research articles. One study on the 12-item SMBM was included to estimate content validity, two studies reported on the 14-item SMBM, while the other two employed the 22-item version. Interestingly, each study used the SMBM in a different language, namely English/Hebrew, Chinese, French, Serbian, and Swedish. Structural validity, internal consistency, and construct validity are the SMBM’s most assessed measurement properties. The Hebrew and French versions demonstrated high levels of structural validity and internal consistency, and the remaining reports on validity demonstrated low levels due to methodological flaws. Conclusions Per COSMIN guidelines, the SMBM should not be utilized for clinical purposes due to insufficient content validity, but has promising potential with ongoing research. Engaging critical stakeholders for concept elicitation will ensure the relevance, comprehensiveness, and comprehensibility of the PRO items. Likewise, establishing an MIC will allow capturing change over time, which will benefit longitudinal experimental studies. Abstract Background Medication Treatment Satisfaction (M-TS) from the patients’ perspective is important for comprehensively evaluating the effect of medicines. The extent to which current patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for M-TS are valid, reliable, responsive, and interpretable remains unclear. To assess the measurement properties of existing PROMs for M-TS and to highlight research gaps. Methods Using PubMed, Embase (Ovid), Cochrane library (Ovid), IPA (Ovid), PsycINFO, Patient-Reported Outcome and Quality of Life Questionnaires biomedical databases, and four Chinese databases, we performed a systematic search for studies addressing the development and validation of PROMs for M-TS. Based on the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) guideline, pairs of reviewers independently assessed the measurement properties of the PROMs and rated the quality of evidence on the measurement properties of each PROM. Results This review identified 69 PROMs for M-TS in 114 studies (four generic, 32 disease-specific, and 33 drug-specific) of which 60 were intended for adults. All provided limited or no information regarding interpretability. Most demonstrated appropriate construct validity including convergent validity (39/69) and discriminative or known-groups validity (40/69) (high to moderate quality of evidence). Only a few provided evidence of sufficient content validity (8/69), structural validity (13/69), and internal consistency (11/69). Of 38 PROMs reporting test–retest reliability, results in 24 provided evidence of satisfactory test–retest reliability (18 with high to moderate, 6 with low to very low quality of evidence). Few PROMs reported responsiveness (16/69). Two generic PROMs (Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication initial Version 1.4, TSQM-1.4; Treatment Satisfaction with Medicines Questionnaire, SATMED-Q) and one drug-specific PROM (Insulin Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire, ITSQ) demonstrated both satisfactory validity and reliability. Conclusions Most existing PROMs for M-TS require further exploration of measurement properties. Reporting guidelines are needed to enhance the reporting quality of the development and validation of PROMs for M-TS.

Purpose: To examine the construct validity and reliability of 2 single items for fatigue and recovery in dancers. The construct validity was assessed using reference instruments: the fatigue items of the Brunel Mood Scale (BRUMS) and the Short Recovery and Stress Scale (SRSS). A secondary aim was to explore the respondent interpretation of these 2 items using a concept identification approach. Methods: Two hundred forty-three (N = 243) dancers completed single-item fatigue and recovery (unipolar and bipolar), BRUMS, and SRSS once for construct validity. For reliability, 49 dancers completed the questionnaires twice, 1 week apart. Using a concept identification approach, 49 dancers were also asked comprehension and interpretation of fatigue and recovery. Results: The fatigue item correlated with SRSS stress items (rs =.37–.51) and BRUMs fatigue items (rs =.63–.66). The recovery item was only partially confirmed in terms of construct validity, when using the SRSS recovery items as reference (rs =.39–.43). Reliability was confirmed for the single items of fatigue (κ =.77–.78) and recovery (κ =.71–.78). Main responses for the concept of fatigue were tiredness (34.7%), muscle soreness (17.3%), and energy (13.0%). Main responses for the concept of recovery were muscle soreness (43.0%), tiredness (27.9%), and fatigue (24.0%). Conclusion: We provide preliminary confirmation of the validity and reliability of the single item fatigue in dancers. The recovery item was only partially confirmed in terms of construct validity, when using the SRSS recovery items as reference, but did display acceptable reliability and agreement. Abstract Objective To evaluate and compare the measurement properties and consistency between the Chinese versions of EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L among Chinese adolescent populations aged 15–17 years. Methods Chinese adolescents aged 15–17 studying in high school were recruited through online survey. Social-demographic characteristics and self-reported EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L responses were collected in the survey. The consistency of responses between the two measures was assessed using redistribution property, and the consistency of utility values was assessed by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Convergent validity and known-group validity were examined using Spearman’s rank correlation, F-test and effect sizes, respectively. Sensitivity was compared using relative efficiency (RE). Results 762 respondents (48.8% male; age 15–17 years;) were recruited. The EQ-5D-3L showed a more severe ceiling effect than EQ-5D-Y-3L (78.2% vs. 66.0%). Respondents reported higher proportions of having problems in four dimensions using the EQ-5D-Y-3L than using the EQ-5D-3L. The consistency of corresponding dimensions between the two measures was relatively good, while non-negligible proportions of inconsistency were observed in “pain/discomfort” (11.4%) and “anxiety/depression” (15.7%) dimensions. Abstract Background The Sleep Condition Indicator (SCI), an insomnia measurement tool based on the updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) criteria with sound psychometric properties when applied in various populations, was evaluated here among healthcare students longitudinally, to demonstrate its measurement properties and invariance in this particularly high-risk population. Methods Healthcare students of a Chinese university were recruited into this two-wave longitudinal study, completing the simplified Chinese version of the SCI (SCI-SC), Chinese Regularity, Satisfaction, Alertness, Timing, Efficiency, Duration (RU_SATED-C) scale, Chinese Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4-C), and sociodemographic variables questionnaire (Q-SV) between September and November 2022. Structural validity, measurement invariance (MI), convergent and discriminant validity, internal consistency, and test–retest reliability of the SCI-SC were examined. Subgroups of gender, age, home location, part-time job, physical exercise, and stress-coping strategy were surveyed twice to test cross-sectional and longitudinal MI. Results We identified 343 valid responses (62.9% female, mean age = 19.650 ± 1.414 years) with a time interval of seven days. The two-factor structure was considered satisfactory (comparative fit index = 0.953–0.989, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.931–0.984, root means square error of approximation = 0.040–0.092, standardized root mean square residual = 0.039–0.054), which mostly endorsed strict invariance except for part-time job subgroups, hence establishing longitudinal invariance. Abstract Background Reflecting people with diabetes’ self-management activities is often required in both research and clinical practice. This study evaluated the measurement properties of the Portuguese version of the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire-Revised (DSMQ-R) on a sample of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods Translation and cultural adaptation were conducted according to guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation and validation of healthcare measurement instruments. A cross-sectional study was performed including 365 people with T2DM in primary care. Reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity were analyzed. Results The total scale of the translated DSMQ-R revealed sufficient internal consistency (alpha = 0.82), and most of the subscales performed adequately. The exploratory factor structure was robust, and confirmatory analysis showed a good model fit with the scale structure of the original scale. The scale scores correlated with the participants’ last HbA1c estimates, supporting convergent validity, and convergence was confirmed by the adequate average variance extracted. Conclusions The Portuguese version of the DSMQ-R is a reliable and valid tool for gauging self-management behaviors in people with T2DM and their relationship with glycemic values.

Abstract Purpose Although comprehensive and widespread guidelines on how to conduct systematic reviews of outcome measurement instruments (OMIs) exist, for example from the COSMIN (COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments) initiative, key information is often missing in published reports. This article describes the development of an extension of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guideline: PRISMA-COSMIN for OMIs 2024. Methods The development process followed the Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research (EQUATOR) guidelines and included a literature search, expert consultations, a Delphi study, a hybrid workgroup meeting, pilot testing, and an end-of-project meeting, with integrated patient/public involvement. Results From the literature and expert consultation, 49 potentially relevant reporting items were identified. Round 1 of the Delphi study was completed by 103 panelists, whereas round 2 and 3 were completed by 78 panelists. After 3 rounds, agreement (≥67%) on inclusion and wording was reached for 44 items. Eleven items without consensus for inclusion and/or wording were discussed at a workgroup meeting attended by 24 participants. Abstract Objective The objective of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the EQ-5D-Y-3 L, Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement System 25-item version profile v2.0 (PROMIS-25), and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ version 4.0 Generic Core Scale (PedsQL 4.0) in Chinese pediatric patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Methods The data used in this study were obtained via a web-based cross-sectional survey. Parents of pediatric patients with SMA completed the proxy-reported EQ-5D-Y-3 L, PedsQL 4.0, and PROMIS-25 measures. Information about socioeconomic and health status was also obtained. The ceiling and floor effects, factorial structure, convergent validity, and known-group validity of the three measures were assessed. Results Three hundred and sixty-three parents of children aged from 5 to 12 completed the questionnaires. Strong floor effects were observed for the physical function components of the PROMIS-25 (41.3%) and PedsQL 4.0 (67.8%). For EQ-5D-Y-3 L, 84.6% of the respondents reported having “a lot of” problems with the dimensions “walking” and “looking after myself.” Minimal ceiling or floor effects were observed for the EQ-5D-Y-3 L index value. The confirmatory factor analysis supported a six-factor structure for the PROMIS-25, but did not support a four-factor structure for the PedsQL 4.0. All hypothesized correlations of the dimensions among the three measures were confirmed, with coefficients ranging from 0.28 to 0.68. Analysis of variance showed that EQ-5D-Y-3 L demonstrated better known-group validity than the other two measures in 14 out of 16 comparisons. Conclusions The EQ-5D-Y-3 L showed better discriminant power than the other two measures. The physical health dimensions of all three measures showed the significant floor effects. These findings provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of these measures at capturing and quantifying the impact of SMA on patients’ health-related quality of life.

Abstract Background Measuring treatment burden is important for the effective management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) care. The purpose of this systematic review was to identify the most robust approach for measuring treatment burden in people with T2DM based on existing evidence. Methods Articles from seven databases were retrieved. Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies examining treatment burden in adults with T2DM and/or reporting relevant experiences were included. A convergent segregated approach with a mixed-methods design of systematic review was employed, creating a measurement framework in a narrative review for consistent critical appraisal. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. The measurement properties of the instruments were evaluated using the Consensus based Standards for selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results A total of 21,584 records were screened, and 26 articles were included, comprising 11 quantitative, 11 qualitative, and 4 mixed-methods studies. A thematic analysis of qualitative data extracted from the included articles summarised a measurement framework encompassing seven core and six associated measurements. The core measurements, including financial, medication, administrative, lifestyle, healthcare, time/travel, and medical information burdens, directly reflect the constructs pertinent to the treatment burden of T2DM. In contrast, the associated measurement themes do not directly reflect the burdens or are less substantiated by current evidence. The results of the COSMIN checklist evaluation demonstrated that the Patient Experience with Treatment and Self-management (PETS), Treatment Burden Questionnaire (TBQ), and Multimorbidity Treatment Burden Questionnaire (MTBQ) have robust instrument development processes. These three instruments, with the highest total counts combining the number of themes covered and "positive" ratings in COSMIN evaluation, were in the top tertile stratification, demonstrating superior applicability for measuring T2DM treatment burden. Conclusions This systematic review provides evidence for the currently superior option of measuring treatment burden in people with T2DM. It also revealed that most current research was conducted in well-resourced institutions, potentially overlooking variability in under-resourced settings.

Abstract Background Movement smoothness is a potential kinematic biomarker of upper extremity (UE) movement quality and recovery after stroke; however, the measurement properties of available smoothness metrics have been poorly assessed in this group. We aimed to measure the reliability, responsiveness and construct validity of several smoothness metrics. Methods This ancillary study of the REM-AVC trial included 31 participants with hemiparesis in the subacute phase of stroke (median time since stroke: 38 days). Assessments performed at inclusion (Day 0, D0) and at the end of a rehabilitation program (Day 30, D30) included the UE Fugl Meyer Assessment (UE-FMA), the Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), and 3D motion analysis of the UE during three reach-to-point movements at a self-selected speed to a target located in front at shoulder height and at 90% of arm length. Four smoothness metrics were computed: a frequency domain smoothness metric, spectral arc length metric (SPARC); and three temporal domain smoothness metrics (TDSM): log dimensionless jerk (LDLJ); number of submovements (nSUB); and normalized average rectified jerk (NARJ). Results At D30, large clinical and kinematic improvements were observed. Only SPARC and LDLJ had an excellent reliability (intra-class correlation > 0.9) and a low measurement error (coefficient of variation 0.8) and not to changes in movement straightness (non-significant correlations). Objective: To evaluate and compare the measurement properties and consistency between the Chinese versions of EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L among Chinese adolescent populations aged 15–17 years. Methods: Chinese adolescents aged 15–17 studying in high school were recruited through online survey. Social-demographic characteristics and self-reported EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L responses were collected in the survey. The consistency of responses between the two measures was assessed using redistribution property, and the consistency of utility values was assessed by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Convergent validity and known-group validity were examined using Spearman's rank correlation, F-test and effect sizes, respectively. Sensitivity was compared using relative efficiency (RE). Results: 762 respondents (48.8% male; age 15–17 years;) were recruited. The EQ-5D-3L showed a more severe ceiling effect than EQ-5D-Y-3L (78.2% vs. 66.0%). Respondents reported higher proportions of having problems in four dimensions using the EQ-5D-Y-3L than using the EQ-5D-3L. The consistency of corresponding dimensions between the two measures was relatively good, while non-negligible proportions of inconsistency were observed in "pain/discomfort" (11.4%) and "anxiety/depression" (15.7%) dimensions. The ICC of the utility values between the EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L was 0.852 (p < 0.001). The Spearman's rank correlation (range: 0.385–0.620) indicated an acceptable convergent validity between the correlative dimensions of the EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L. The EQ-5D-Y-3L had a higher efficiency than the EQ-5D-3L at detecting differences across EQ VAS subgroups (ES = 1.793 for EQ-5D-3L, ES = 1.920 for EQ-5D-Y-3L). Mixed results were observed in sensitivity. Conclusions: Both the EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-Y-3L are demonstrated to be valid and generally consistent for measuring HRQoL among adolescents aged 15–17 years in China. Respondents reported higher proportions of having problems using the EQ-5D-Y-3L than using the EQ-5D-3L. Background: Reflecting people with diabetes' self-management activities is often required in both research and clinical practice. This study evaluated the measurement properties of the Portuguese version of the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire-Revised (DSMQ-R) on a sample of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: Translation and cultural adaptation were conducted according to guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation and validation of healthcare measurement instruments. A cross-sectional study was performed including 365 people with T2DM in primary care. Reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity were analyzed. Results: The total scale of the translated DSMQ-R revealed sufficient internal consistency (alpha = 0.82), and most of the subscales performed adequately. The exploratory factor structure was robust, and confirmatory analysis showed a good model fit with the scale structure of the original scale. The scale scores correlated with the participants' last HbA1c estimates, supporting convergent validity, and convergence was confirmed by the adequate average variance extracted. Conclusions: The Portuguese version of the DSMQ-R is a reliable and valid tool for gauging self-management behaviors in people with T2DM and their relationship with glycemic values. Background: The Sleep Condition Indicator (SCI), an insomnia measurement tool based on the updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) criteria with sound psychometric properties when applied in various populations, was evaluated here among healthcare students longitudinally, to demonstrate its measurement properties and invariance in this particularly high-risk population. Methods: Healthcare students of a Chinese university were recruited into this two-wave longitudinal study, completing the simplified Chinese version of the SCI (SCI-SC), Chinese Regularity, Satisfaction, Alertness, Timing, Efficiency, Duration (RU_SATED-C) scale, Chinese Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4-C), and sociodemographic variables questionnaire (Q-SV) between September and November 2022. Structural validity, measurement invariance (MI), convergent and discriminant validity, internal consistency, and test–retest reliability of the SCI-SC were examined. Subgroups of gender, age, home location, part-time job, physical exercise, and stress-coping strategy were surveyed twice to test cross-sectional and longitudinal MI. Results: We identified 343 valid responses (62.9% female, mean age = 19.650 ± 1.414 years) with a time interval of seven days. The two-factor structure was considered satisfactory (comparative fit index = 0.953–0.989, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.931–0.984, root means square error of approximation = 0.040–0.092, standardized root mean square residual = 0.039–0.054), which mostly endorsed strict invariance except for part-time job subgroups, hence establishing longitudinal invariance. The SCI-SC presented acceptable convergent validity with the RU_SATED-C scale (r ≥ 0.500), discriminant validity with the PHQ-4-C (0.300 ≤ r < 0.500), internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.811–0.835, McDonald's omega = 0.805–0.832), and test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.829). Conclusion: The SCI-SC is an appropriate screening instrument available for assessing insomnia symptoms among healthcare students, and the promising measurement properties provide additional evidence about validity and reliability for detecting insomnia in healthcare students. Background: Maximal respiratory pressure is used to assess the inspiratory and expiratory muscles strength by using maximal inspiratory pressure (PImax ) and maximal expiratory pressure (PEmax). This study aimed to summarize and evaluate the reliability and validity of maximal respiratory pressure measurements. Methods: This systematic review followed the Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) recommendations and was reported by using the PRISMA checklist. Studies published before March 2023 were searched in PubMed and EMBASE databases. Results: A total of 642 studies were identified by using the online search strategy and manual search (602 and 40, respectively). Twenty-three studies were included. The level of evidence for test-retest reliability was moderate for PImax and PEmax (intraclass correlation coefficient > 0.70 for both), inter-rater reliability was low for PImax and very low for PEmax (intraclass correlation coefficient > 0.70 for both), and the measurement error was very low for PImax and PEmax. In addition, concurrent validity presented a high level of evidence for PImax and PEmax (r > 0.80). Conclusions: Only concurrent validity of maximal respiratory pressure measured with the manometers evaluated in this review presented a high level of evidence. The quality of clinical studies by using maximal respiratory pressure would be improved if more high-quality studies on measurement properties, by following well established guidelines and the COSMIN initiative, were available. The Leg Activity Measure is the only self-report measure that has been published to date that takes into account both the influence on quality of life and passive and active function in the literature. The purpose is to examine the translation, cross-cultural adaptation validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Leg Activity Measure (Tr-LegA). Neurological patients (n = 52) with lower limb spasticity (aged 47.09 ± 14.74 years) were enrolled. The study consisted of two stages. At the first stage, the scale was translated into Turkish and culturally adapted. Validity and reliability analyses were conducted at the second stage. Construct validity was evaluated by exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI), Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) were used for convergent validity. The reproducibility (test-retest reliability) was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Furthermore, the standard error of measurement (SEM) was calculated. EFA suggested one factor for the Passive Function and two factors for the Active Function and Impact on Quality of Life Scales (QoL). Tr-LegA Passive and Active Function Scales were correlated with the total RMI, NHP, and FIM (p < 0.05). Tr-LegA Impact on Quality of Life Scale was correlated with the RMI and NHP (p < 0.05). Tr-LegA Passive Function Scale (ICC = 0.997), Tr-LegA Active Function Scale (ICC = 0.996), and Tr-LegA Impact on Quality of Life Scale (ICC = 0.976) had good reliability. Only Passive Function Scale had a significant floor effect (25%). Purpose: Healthcare providers' (HCPs) readiness to respond to intimate partner violence (IPV) is crucial for early detection and management of patients experiencing IPV. This systematic review aims to identify currently available tools for assessing HCPs' readiness to respond to IPV, evaluate their measurement properties, and summarize the quality of evidence to facilitate the selection of appropriate instrument. Methods: A systematic search was performed in PubMed, CINAHL, Ovid, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library from inception to October 2022, supplemented by hand searching and gray literature searches. Two authors independently screened studies based on predefined criteria and completed data extraction. The Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) checklist was used for methodological quality assessment. Results: Of 34 studies included in this review, nine measurement tools were identified for the evaluation of measurement properties and overall quality ratings. Internal consistency (31 studies), content validity (29 studies), and structural validity (21 studies) were the most reported psychometric properties. The Physician Readiness to Manage Intimate Partner Violence Survey (PREMIS) tool is the most widely used instrument for assessing HCPs' readiness to respond to IPV, with moderate to high evidence for sound psychometric quality. Conclusions: The identified tools vary in psychometric properties depending on the assessment's context, target population, and study setting. The PREMIS is the most cross-culturally adapted instrument across various countries and is promising for assessing HCPs' readiness to respond to IPV. Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the EQ-5D-Y-3 L, Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement System 25-item version profile v2.0 (PROMIS-25), and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ version 4.0 Generic Core Scale (PedsQL 4.0) in Chinese pediatric patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Methods: The data used in this study were obtained via a web-based cross-sectional survey. Parents of pediatric patients with SMA completed the proxy-reported EQ-5D-Y-3 L, PedsQL 4.0, and PROMIS-25 measures. Information about socioeconomic and health status was also obtained. The ceiling and floor effects, factorial structure, convergent validity, and known-group validity of the three measures were assessed. Results: Three hundred and sixty-three parents of children aged from 5 to 12 completed the questionnaires. Strong floor effects were observed for the physical function components of the PROMIS-25 (41.3%) and PedsQL 4.0 (67.8%). For EQ-5D-Y-3 L, 84.6% of the respondents reported having "a lot of" problems with the dimensions "walking" and "looking after myself." Minimal ceiling or floor effects were observed for the EQ-5D-Y-3 L index value. The confirmatory factor analysis supported a six-factor structure for the PROMIS-25, but did not support a four-factor structure for the PedsQL 4.0. All hypothesized correlations of the dimensions among the three measures were confirmed, with coefficients ranging from 0.28 to 0.68. Analysis of variance showed that EQ-5D-Y-3 L demonstrated better known-group validity than the other two measures in 14 out of 16 comparisons. Conclusions: The EQ-5D-Y-3 L showed better discriminant power than the other two measures. The physical health dimensions of all three measures showed the significant floor effects. Ninety-two functionally stable patients with respiratory, gastrointestinal, or post-surgical conditions participated. Participants completed the BBT versions in a random order. BBT concurrent criterion validity was evaluated using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), Sit-to-Stand (STS) test, and Functional Status Score (FSS).The participants were 51 ± 17 years old, 60% female, and 66% with clinical conditions. All participants completed the BBT versions without adverse events. Test–retest reliability was good–excellent (intraclass correlation coefficient >0.87) for all BBT versions, with acceptable agreement parameters and minimal detectable changes. The time-limited versions of the BBT might be affected by a ceiling effect. Floor effects were minimal for all BBT versions. Background: Measuring treatment burden is important for the effective management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) care. The purpose of this systematic review was to identify the most robust approach for measuring treatment burden in people with T2DM based on existing evidence. Methods: Articles from seven databases were retrieved. Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies examining treatment burden in adults with T2DM and/or reporting relevant experiences were included. A convergent segregated approach with a mixed-methods design of systematic review was employed, creating a measurement framework in a narrative review for consistent critical appraisal. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. The measurement properties of the instruments were evaluated using the Consensus based Standards for selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results: A total of 21,584 records were screened, and 26 articles were included, comprising 11 quantitative, 11 qualitative, and 4 mixed-methods studies. A thematic analysis of qualitative data extracted from the included articles summarised a measurement framework encompassing seven core and six associated measurements. The core measurements, including financial, medication, administrative, lifestyle, healthcare, time/travel, and medical information burdens, directly reflect the constructs pertinent to the treatment burden of T2DM. In contrast, the associated measurement themes do not directly reflect the burdens or are less substantiated by current evidence. The results of the COSMIN checklist evaluation demonstrated that the Patient Experience with Treatment and Self-management (PETS), Treatment Burden Questionnaire (TBQ), and Multimorbidity Treatment Burden Questionnaire (MTBQ) have robust instrument development processes. These three instruments, with the highest total counts combining the number of themes covered and "positive" ratings in COSMIN evaluation, were in the top tertile stratification, demonstrating superior applicability for measuring T2DM treatment burden. Conclusions: This systematic review provides evidence for the currently superior option of measuring treatment burden in people with T2DM. Cognitive reserve explains the differences in the susceptibility to cognitive impairment related to brain aging, pathology, or insult. Given that cognitive reserve has important implications for the cognitive health of typically and pathologically aging older adults, research needs to identify valid and reliable instruments for measuring cognitive reserve. However, the measurement properties of current cognitive reserve instruments used in older adults have not been evaluated according to the most up-to-date COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health status Measurement INstruments (COSMIN). This systematic review aimed to critically appraise, compare, and summarize the quality of the measurement properties of all existing cognitive reserve instruments for older adults. A systematic literature search was performed to identify relevant studies published up to December 2021, which was conducted by three of four researchers using 13 electronic databases and snowballing method. The COSMIN was used to assess the methodological quality of the studies and the quality of measurement properties. Out of the 11,338 retrieved studies, only seven studies that concerned five instruments were eventually included. The methodological quality of one-fourth of the included studies was doubtful and three-seventh was very good, while only four measurement properties from two instruments were supported by high-quality evidence. Overall, current studies and evidence for selecting cognitive reserve instruments suitable for older adults were insufficient. All included instruments have the potential to be recommended, while none of the identified cognitive reserve instruments for older adults appears to be generally superior to the others. Therefore, further studies are recommended to validate the measurement properties of existing cognitive reserve instruments for older adults, especially the content validity as guided by COSMIN. Conclusions: Responsiveness and construct validity of TDSM were hindered by movement duration and/or noise-sensitivity. Based on the present results and concordant literature, we recommend using SPARC rather than TDSM in reaching movements of uncontrolled duration in individuals with spastic paresis after stroke. We aimed to identify Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) that assess disability in children and adolescents with low back pain (LBP), analyzing their adherence to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) biopsychosocial model; and to describe the measurement properties of these PROMs. We searched Pubmed, Embase and CINAHL databases. The review included searches up to March 2022. Meaningful concepts of the PROMs were linked to ICF domains, and we manually searched for the measurement properties of each included PROM. We included 23 studies, of which eight PROMs were analyzed. We retrieved 182 concepts in total. Activities was the domain with the highest number of linked concepts, whereas personal factors had no linked concepts. The modified Hannover Functional Ability Questionnaire (mHFAQ) and the Micheli Functional Scale (MFS) had measurement properties tested in children and adolescents, but had no information about construct validity. Although most of the identified PROMs had broad coverage of their concepts in the ICF, only two PROMs had measurement properties tested in the population of interest in this review, in which the mHFAQ presented wide coverage in relation to the ICF. Further studies are needed to investigate content validity of these PROMs. This review adds evidence to the area of musculoskeletal disorders in children and adolescents, which is still underexplored. Valid adult Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) have been used to assess disability in children and adolescents with low back pain. However, it is recommended to use PROMs that are tested and valid for evaluation of the population of interest. The 41-item Quality of Life Questionnaire of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis (QUALEFFO-41) is a widely used and freely available patient-reported outcome measure (PROM). However, data on its reliability, validity, and responsiveness remain unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to systematically review the measurement properties of the QUALEFFO-41. A systematic search of MEDLINE, EBSCOhost, and Cochrane Library from their inception up to December 2022 was performed. Data were extracted, and the methodological quality of each measurement property was evaluated according to the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) guidelines. The evidence of the measurement properties was rated against the updated criteria for good measurement properties, and the quality of evidence was graded using the modified GRADE approach. A total of 99 articles were identified, of which eight studies were included in the review. The QUALEFFO-41 is categorized as B as it demonstrated moderate quality evidence for sufficient content validity, moderate-to-high quality evidence for sufficient hypothesis testing for construct validity (except for the social function domain for convergent validity), and very low-quality evidence for sufficient responsiveness. For structural validity and internal consistency, only the domains of pain and general health perception were sufficient with low-quality evidence. For reliability, only the domain of physical function was sufficient with low-quality evidence. None of the studies reported measurement error, cross-cultural validity, and criterion validity. The QUALEFFO-41 may be a promising, valid, and reliable PROM to assess HRQoL in osteoporosis patients with vertebral fractures. However, future studies must focus on good methodological quality to strengthen the evidence of measurement properties, especially on structural validity, reliability, responsiveness, and cross-cultural validity. The systematic review evaluated the measurement properties of the QUALEFFO-41 questionnaire for assessing Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in osteoporosis patients. The review found moderate-to-high-quality evidence for construct validity but limited evidence for responsiveness and other properties. Future studies should focus on strengthening the evidence, particularly for structural validity, reliability, responsiveness, and cross-cultural validity. Abstract Purpose To translate and cross-culturally adapt the Spine Functional Index (SFI) into Brazilian Portuguese (SFI-Br) in individuals with musculoskeletal spine disorders. Methods Participants (n=194) answered the Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire for General Pain (RMDQ-g), and SFI-25 incorporating the SFI-10. Structural validity, from confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), used comparative fit index (CFI), Tucker-Lewis index (TLI), root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA), and chi-square/degrees of freedom (DF). The best structure was considered from the lower values of the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC). Construct and criterion validity used Spearman’s correlation coefficient (rho). Internal consistency used Cronbach’s alpha, reliability used intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC2,1), with ceiling and floor effects determined. Error used the standard error of the measurement (SEM) and minimal detectable change, 90% level (MDC90). Results Adequate fit indices demonstrated an unequivocal one-factor structure only for the SFI-10 (chi-square/DF 0.90, RMSEA 0.30). Test-retest reliability (ICC2,1=0.826) and internal consistency (alpha=0.864) were high. No ceiling or floor effects were observed, and error was satisfactory (SEM=9.08%, MDC90=25.15%). Conclusion The SFI Brazilian version was successfully produced with the 10-item version showing an unequivocal one-factor structure, high construct and criterion validity, reliability, internal consistency, and satisfactory error. Further research on responsiveness is required.

Abstract Background Despite a number of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine candidates being tested in clinical trials, disease-specific, self-reported instruments assessing symptom severity of RSV infection from the perspective of adult patients are still needed. The RSV Infection, Intensity and Impact Questionnaire (RSV-iiiQ) was adapted from the Influenza Intensity and Impact Questionnaire (FluiiQ™). This study evaluated some measurement properties of the RSV-iiiQ. Methods Data were collected in a web-based survey over two consecutive days. Participants completed the RSV-iiiQ, the Patient Global Impression of Severity, Sheehan Disability Scale, Patient Global Impression of Change, EQ-5D-5L, and a demographic questionnaire. Test-retest reliability, internal consistency, construct validity, and responsiveness of the RSV-iiiQ scales were assessed. Results 111 adults with RSV were enrolled and self-reported a variety of symptoms across the range of disease severity via a web-based platform. The RSV-iiiQ scales demonstrated satisfactory test-retest reliability, construct validity, and discriminating ability. One-factor confirmatory factor analyses confirmed that each of the four scales was sufficiently unidimensional, and internal consistencies indicated that the computation of RSV-iiiQ scale scores was plausible. Correlation-based analyses provided support for the construct validity of the RSV-iiiQ scores, and known groups analyses supported discriminating ability. Estimates of responsiveness of the scale scores were also satisfactory. Conclusions RSV infection is highly symptomatic and causes significant disease burden, and self-report instruments assessing symptom severity and impact are important for evaluation of new treatments. This study describes the preliminary psychometric properties of the RSV-iiiQ and indicates this tool may be useful for the assessment of the severity of symptoms and impact of acute RSV infection in adults. The findings also indicated two items, Runny nose and Ear pain, may be unnecessary and should be revisited using item response theory analysis with a larger sample size.

Background: As physical function and physical activity are often compromised among children and adolescents undergoing acute cancer treatment, psychometrically robust and feasible assessment tools are needed. The aim of this study is to evaluate the construct validity, responsiveness and feasibility of one physical activity assessment tool (Fitbit Inspire); and six physical function assessment tools (Movement ABC-2, Timed Up and Go, 30-s Chair Stand, Timed Rise from the Floor, Timed Up and Down Stairs, 6-min Walk Test) for children undergoing acute cancer treatment. Methods: A prospectively-registered, mixed methods, single-group study evaluated measurement properties against a priori hypothesis using Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health status Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) framework. Feasibility was assessed quantitively (a priori thresholds), and qualitatively (semi-structured interviews, focus-groups). Results: Twenty children/adolescents (median age 13 ​± ​5 years, various cancer diagnoses), 20 parents and 16 clinicians participated. Fitbit was feasible to assess daily steps only, had evidence of construct validity, tendency to overestimate step count and adequate evidence of responsiveness (compared to Actigraph). The 30-s Chair stand, 6-min Walk Test and Timed Up and Go were feasible and showed evidence of construct validity and responsiveness. To maximise feasibility, consideration of timing and intent of assessment are crucial. Conclusion: Fitbit has limitations as a physical activity assessment tool. The 30-s Chair Stand, 6-min Walk Test and Timed Up and Go were feasible to use and showed favourable measurement properties to assess physical function.

For cardiopulmonary exercise testing, the ten seconds with the higher average of the peak oxygen uptake obtained within the last 30 seconds were considered; for six-minute walk test and incremental shuttle walk test, the longer distance; and for the Glittre-ADL test, the shorter time spent. Concurrent validity was assessed using different regression models based on the best adjustment of the data.Twenty-two patients with IPF were assessed, aged: 68 ± 8.1 years, 13 male. Patients presented a peak oxygen uptake of 16.5 ± 3.6 mL.kg−1.min1, achieving a distance of 512.6 ± 102.8 meters in the six-minute walk test and 415.7 ± 125.1 meters in incremental shuttle walk test. The walking distance in the six-minute walk test and the incremental shuttle walk test explained, respectively, 64% and 56% peak oxygen uptake variance observed in the cardiopulmonary exercise testing (R2 = 0.64,p < .001; R2 = 0.56,p < .001). The time spent in the Glittre-ADL test was 233.4 ± 88.7 seconds and explained 47% of the peak oxygen uptake variance observed in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (R2 = 0.47,p = .001).The six-minute walk test, incremental shuttle walk test, and Glittre-ADL test were considered valid tests to explain the peak oxygen uptake variance obtained by the cardiopulmonary exercise testing in patients with IPF.
