Background: Women, compared to men, have been more involved in caregiving activities than men. For this reason, the purpose of this article is to assess the transformations in care work during the coronavirus pandemic based on a review of the scientific literature. Methods: This objective is developed by systematizing the findings of 64 research studies that, from the social sciences and women's studies, address care work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: Housework is assigned to women by its very nature, irrespective of the country to which they belong. Conclusions: The research concludes that inequity in the distribution of care work during the crisis is greater for women than for men because of gender, race and class power relations.
