The microeconomic research about private expenditures on educational goods and services shows that the variation in investment levels reflects differences in income, socio-demographic characteristics, and the average number of household members. There are few studies in Latin America, however, that also explore the income elasticity of educational demand. This article addresses this important gap in Mexico, using data from the 2020 National Survey of Household Income and Expenditures. By means of Engel curves and tobit regression analysis, this article outlines the values assigned to education according to family traits. In particular, the results show that, as we focus on economically wealthier households, education is no longer a superior good, without becoming a necessity good. In addition, the data show evidence of gender differences that are opposite to those pointed out in the peer-reviewed literature., La investigación microeconómica sobre el gasto privado en bienes y servicios educativos muestra que la variación en los niveles de inversión corresponde a diferencias en el ingreso, características sociodemográficas y al número de miembros de los hogares. Sin embargo, son escasos los estudios al respecto en América Latina, en los que además se explore la elasticidad del ingreso en la demanda educativa. Este trabajo aborda esta brecha en México, utilizando datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares de 2020. A través de curvas de Engel y análisis de regresión tobit, el trabajo expone los valores asignados a la educación según rasgos familiares. Concretamente, los resultados muestran que, al acercarnos a hogares económicamente más ricos, la educación deja de ser un bien superior, sin llegar a ser un bien de necesidad. Adicionalmente, los resultados muestran evidencia de sesgos de género opuestos a aquellos apuntados en la literatura especializada.

[Purpose] Plakophilin 1 (PKP1) is well-known as an important component of the desmosome, a cell structure specialized in spot-like cell-to-cell adhesion. Although desmosomes have generally been associated with tumor suppressor functions, we recently found that PKP1 is recurrently overexpressed in squamous cell lung cancer (SqCLC) to exert an oncogenic role by enhancing the translation of MYC (c-Myc), a major oncogene. In this study, we aim to further characterize the functional relationship between PKP1 and MYC., [Methods] To determine the functional relationship between PKP1 and MYC, we performed correlation analyses between PKP1 and MYC mRNA expression levels, gain/loss of function models, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and promoter mutagenesis followed by luciferase assays., [Results] We found a significant correlation between the mRNA levels of MYC and PKP1 in SqCLC primary tumor samples. In addition, we found that MYC is a direct transcription factor of PKP1 and binds to specific sequences within its promoter. In agreement with this, we found that MYC knockdown reduced PKP1 protein expression in different SqCLC models, which may explain the PKP1-MYC correlation that we found. Conversely, we found that PKP1 knockdown reduced MYC protein expression, while PKP1 overexpression enhanced MYC expression in these models., [Conclusions] Based on these results, we propose a feedforward functional relationship in which PKP1 enhances MYC translation in conjunction with the translation initiation complex by binding to the 5’-UTR of MYC mRNA, whereas MYC promotes PKP1 transcription by binding to its promoter. These results suggest that PKP1 may serve as a therapeutic target for SqCLC.

In the context of primary education, the inclusion of children with learning difficulties has become a topic of great relevance and concern. In this sense, the aim of the research is to analyze the effect of the implementation of traditional physical education games on the socio-psycho-motor inclusion of children with learning difficulties in primary education. Methodologically, it was a quantitative, correlational, experimental study that used a simple random sample of 471 students from a primary education in Puno, which caters to schoolchildren with learning disabilities. For the data collection, an estimation scale type questionnaire was applied, with Likert type answers. The results of the pretest in both groups are shown in initiated, in 56.17% for the control group and 55.08 in the experimental group; after the intervention, it was appreciated that in the control group 14.47% obtained the qualification of achieved, while the experimental group was evidenced in 57.63%, the latter with a significance of 0.00 in the chi-square test, which allowed validating that there is a significant association between the use of traditional physical education games and the improvement of socio-psychomotor inclusion., En el contexto de la educación primaria, la inclusión de niños con dificultades de aprendizaje se ha convertido en un tema de gran relevancia. En este sentido, el objetivo de la investigación es analizar el efecto de la implementación de los juegos tradicionales de educación física en la inclusión sociopsicomotriz de los niños con dificultades de aprendizaje en la educación primaria. Metodológicamente, se trató de un estudio cuantitativo, correlacional, experimental, que empleó una muestra aleatoria simple de 471 estudiantes de una educación primaria de Puno, que atiende a escolares con problemas de aprendizaje. Para la recolección de datos, se aplicó un cuestionario tipo escala de estimación, con respuestas tipo Likert. Los resultados del pretest en ambos grupos se muestran en iniciado, en 56.17% para el grupo control y 55.08 en el grupo experimental; posterior a la intervención, se apreció que en el grupo control el 14.47% obtuvo la calificación de logrado, mientras que el grupo experimental se evidenció en 57.63%, este último con una significancia de 0.00 en la prueba de chi cuadrado, lo que permitió validar que hay una asociación significativa entre el uso de juegos tradicionales de educación física y la mejora de la inclusión sociopsicomotriz.

Currently, there has been an upturn in the growth of academic production as a consequence of the evolution of scientific literature on team sports. The aim of the study was to develop a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production on the most practiced team sports, contained in the Scopus database between 2002 and 2022. It was based on a descriptive and quantitative bibliometric analysis. The following combinations of terms were used in the search equations: Sport AND Collective, Soccer, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, obtaining a total of 561 documents. The results show an increase in the number of academic papers published between 2016 and 2022 with a total of 420 documents (74.9%), most of these papers (92.7%) are scientific articles and more than half (61%) are studies in social sciences, medicine, sports and psychology, with Spain (15.9%) and Brazil (11.8%) being the main sources of scientific production. It is concluded that the bibliometric study contributes substantially to the scientific community by providing data on the most practiced team sports worldwide, which can facilitate future studies aimed at modeling and better characterizing the behavior, skills and abilities of individuals in team sports., Actualmente se ha producido un repunte en el crecimiento de la producción académica como consecuencia de la evolución de la literatura científica en torno a los deportes colectivos. El estudio tuvo como objetivo desarrollar un análisis bibliométrico de la producción científica sobre los deportes colectivos más practicados, contenida en la base de datos Scopus entre los años 2002 y 2022. Se fundamentó en un análisis bibliométrico descriptivo y cuantitativo. En las ecuaciones de búsqueda se utilizaron las siguientes combinaciones de términos: Sport AND Collective, Soccer, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, obteniendo un total de 561 documentos. Los resultados muestran un aumento del número de trabajos académicos publicados entre 2016 y 2022 con un total de 420 documentos (74.9%), la mayoría de estos trabajos (92.7%) son artículos científicos y más de la mitad (61%) son estudios en ciencias sociales, medicina, deportes y psicología, siendo España (15.9%) y Brasil (11.8%) las principales fuentes de producción científica. Se concluye que el estudio bibliométrico contribuye sustancialmente a la comunidad científica aportando datos sobre los deportes colectivos más practicados a nivel mundial, que pueden facilitar futuros estudios dirigidos a modelar y caracterizar mejor el comportamiento, habilidades y capacidades de los individuos en el deporte en equipo.
