The use of the Kinesio Taping (KT) method is widespread in sports, but current research on the ability of KT to alter foot biomechanics is limited. The aim of this study was to examine the acute effects of KT on walking plantar pressures. Kinesio Taping Functional Correction Technique was applied on the transverse arch of the foot. Twenty-two young healthy male adults, aged between 19 and 33 voluntarily participated in this study. Plantar pressures for three functional segments (forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot) were recorded during walking (with and without KT) by pedobarographic measurement using FDM 1.5 pressure measuring device. The results show that KT Functional Correction Technique has an effect in reducing walking plantar pressures. It was shown that maximal plantar pressures at the forefoot and hindfoot significantly (P < 0.05) decreased by 1.51 N/cm2 and 0.9 N/cm2 respectively, when KT was applied to the foot during walking. KT has the potential for primary and secondary prevention of pathological manifestations in the mentioned area, but also in the holistic postural context. Further research is needed to investigate clinical significance of KT.

Pregnant women, due to physiological changes in the upper respiratory tract and a special immune state, get sick even more often.The purpose of the article is to provide doctors with basic information about the features of the course and treatment of the most common diseases of the upper respiratory tract during pregnancy.Prerequisite for the development of nasal congestion syndrome during pregnancy is an imbalance in the autonomic regulation of vasoconstriction and vasodilation of the vessels of the nasal mucosa and secretion of the nasal glands, the predominance of parasympathetic influences. The most common nosological causes of nasal breathing disorders are allergic rhinitis, gestational (hormonal) rhinitis and acute rhinosinusitis.The pathogenetic mechanism of gestational rhinitis is estrogen-mediated inhibition of cholinesterase, resulting in cholinergic vasodilation and increased secretion of mucous glands. The increase in circulating plasma volume and extravasal transudation, which is also due to the effects of estrogen on the vascular wall, contribute to pregnancy. Treatment is symptomatic (local decongestants, herbal secretolytics, sea water).Allergic rhinitis is based on IgE-mediated inflammatory process of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. The most common causative allergens are plant pollen, spores of lower fungi, insect particles, animal epidermis, house dust mites. Treatment includes topical and systemic agents (glucocorticosteroids with low bioavailability, H1-histamine receptor blockers).Acute rhinosinusitis is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses that lasts up to 12 weeks. In pregnant women, the development of the disease and its prolonged course is facilitated by frequent swelling of the nasal mucosa. The main causative agent of GDS are viruses (approximately 80% of cases). Evidence-based treatment includes irrigation therapy (symptomatic treatment of all forms of GDS), modern phytonutrient therapy using standardized BNO 1016 extract (for viral and post-viral MS, safe during pregnancy), mometasone furoate (nasal spray), anesthesia . Antibacterial drugs are indicated only for the treatment of bacterial rhinosinusitis.Acute tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils with clinical symptoms that occur suddenly. Specific manifestations are sore throat (without acute shortness of breath), redness and swelling of the tonsils, often with layers, regional lymphadenitis; non-specific – fever, general weakness, malaise and pain in the joints and lower back. The clinical picture in pregnant women does not differ significantly. The severity of the disease and the probability of bacterial etiology is assessed on a special scale. Be sure to determine the presence of β-hemolytic group A streptococcus in the throat, depending on which antibacterial treatment is prescribed., Воспалительные заболевания верхних дыхательных путей чрезвычайно распространены, ежегодно ими болеет 6–15% здоровых людей. Беременные, в связи с физиологическими изменениями верхних дыхательных путей и особым иммунным состоянием, болеют еще чаще. Цель статьи – предоставить врачам базовые сведения об особенностях течения и лечения наиболее распространенных заболеваний верхних дыхательных путей в период беременности.Предпосылкой развития синдрома заложенности носа во время беременности является дисбаланс вегетативной регуляции процессов вазоконстрикции и вазодилатации сосудов слизистой оболочки носа и секреции носовых желез, преобладание парасимпатических влияний. Частыми нозологическими причинами нарушения носового дыхания является аллергический ринит, гестационный (гормональный) ринит и острый риносинусит.Патогенетический механизм гестационного ринита заключается в эстроген-опосредованном угнетении холинэстеразы, вследствие чего происходит холинергическая вазодилатация и усиление секреции слизистых оболочек желез. Определенный вклад вносит присущее беременности увеличение объема циркулирующей плазмы и экстравазальная транссудация, также обусловленная влиянием эстрогенов на сосудистую стенку. Лечение симптоматическое (местные деконгестанты, растительные секретолитики, морская вода).В основе аллергического ринита лежит IgE-опосредованный воспалительный процесс слизистой оболочки полости носа и околоносовых пазух. Чаще всего причинными аллергенами являются пыльца растений, споры низших грибов, частицы насекомых, эпидермис животных, клещи домашней пыли. Лечение включает топические и системные средства (глюкокортикостероиды с низкой биодоступностью, блокаторы Н1-рецепторов).Острый риносинусит – воспаление слизистой оболочки носа и околоносовых синусов, что продолжается до 12 нед. У беременных развитию болезни и ее затяжному течению способствует частый отек слизистой оболочки носа. Основным возбудителем ГРС являются вирусы (около 80% случаев). Лечение, основанное на доказательствах, включает ирригационную терапию (симптоматическое лечение всех форм ГРС), современную фитониринговую терапию с использованием стандартизированного экстракта BNO 1016 (при вирусном и поствирусном РС, безопасна во время беременности), мометазона фуроат (в форме назального спрея), обезболивающие. Антибактериальные препараты показаны только для лечения бактериального синусита.Острый тонзиллит – воспаление миндалин с клинической симптоматикой, возникает внезапно. Специфическими проявлениями являются боль в горле (без острой одышки), гиперемия и отек миндалин, нередко с наслоениями, регионарный лимфаденит; неспецифическими – лихорадка, общая слабость, недомогание и боль в суставах и пояснице. Клиническая картина у беременных существенно не отличается. Тяжесть болезни и вероятность бактериальной этиологии оценивают по специальной шкале. Вагітні, у зв’язку з фізіологічними змінами верхніх дихальних шляхів та особливим імунним станом, хворіють ще частіше.Мета статті – надати лікарям базові відомості про особливості перебігу та лікування найпоширеніших захворювань верхніх дихальних шляхів у період вагітності.Передумовою розвитку синдрому закладеності носа під час вагітності є дисбаланс вегетативної регуляції процесів вазоконстрикції та вазодилатації судин слизової оболонки носа і секреції носових залоз, переважання парасимпатичних впливів. Лікування включає топічні і системні засоби (глюкокортикостероїди з низькою біодоступністю, блокатори Н1-гістамінових рецепторів).Гострий риносинусит – запалення слизової оболонки носа та приносових синусів, що триває до 12 тиж. У вагітних розвиткові хвороби та її затяжному перебігу сприяє частий набряк слизової оболонки носа. Основним збудником ГРС є віруси (приблизно 80% випадків). Лікування, яке базується на доказах, включає іригаційну терапію (симптоматичне лікування усіх форм ГРС), сучасну фітонірингову терапію з використанням стандартизованого екстракту BNO 1016 (при вірусному та поствірусному РС, безпечна під час вагітності), мометазону фуроат (у формі назального спрея), знеболювальні. Клінічна картина у вагітних суттєво не відрізняється. Тяжкість хвороби та імовірність бактеріальної етіології оцінюють за спеціальною шкалою. Обов’язково визначають наявність у горлі β-гемолітичного стрептококу групи А, залежно від чого призначають антибактеріальне лікування.

Aim: The presented study reports a quantitative gait analysis and different adaptive strategies evaluation on 12 male adults, war trauma transtibial (TT) amputees, fitted with prostheses. Methods: Gait analysis included kinematics (joint mobility variables) prosthetic and healthy legs in 12 TT amputees and 12 able-bodied persons/individuals. Skeletal muscles are the generators of active force and therefore the actuators in the locomotor system. Muscle tissue, namely, is characterized by properties like excitability, conductivity, elasticity and above all contractility, enabling the muscle the role of actuator. When researching muscle and muscular system it is important to explore the relation between the muscle's structure and function. We have pursued a study along these lines by providing morphohistochemical analysis of human muscle biceps brachii and electromyography (EMG) and dynamometry measurements of actively contracting muscle. Plotting the histograms of occurence of fiber diameters, at the scale of 3 micro meters (um) resolution, reveals that in younger persons the biceps brachii specimen for ATP-ase activity at pH 4.3 show a greater frequency of type II fibers with a diameter from 91 to 106 um, while type I fibers have the highest frequency of occurence at diameters ranging from 22 to 28 um. In older individuals the type II fibers are smaller with the highest frequency of fibers with diameters ranging from 61 to 79 um ; the type I fibers are larger, with the highest frequency of fibers with diameters ranging from 58 to 76 um. Despite significantly different levels of maximum isometric force developed by our subjects - corresponding to their physical abilities - in all cases analyzed a proportionality between measured force and smoothed EMG values may be observed. The current level of scientific knowledge suggests with high probability, the existence, in subjects manifesting higher isometric force gradients, of a higher proportion of type II fibers characterized by higher contraction strength.
