A macrocellular nanocomposite scaffold of crosslinked poly(e-caprolactone) was made by conducting a ring-opening polymerization of an emulsifier-free Pickering high internal phase emulsion (HIPE). The Pickering HIPE formulation, stabilized using hydrophobically modified silica nanoparticles (mSiNPs), showed extraordinary stability up to a temperature of polymerization as high as 120 °C. The nanocomposite scaffolds demonstrated high porosity and a liquid uptake capacity of up to ∼23 g g−1. The scaffolds decorated with mSiNPs were mechanically robust and showed high resiliency under cyclic compression tests.

Background: Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit, mainly affecting face and frequently followed by scarring. It is the most common skin disease in an urban dermatology clinic in India. Adult acne is more common in women and may be a marker of hyperandrogenism.The present study was carried out to study the clinical profile of acne vulgaris in semiurban patients.Methods: The study was conducted for 1 year on all eligible patients of acne vulgaris attending dermatology OPD of a hospital catering to semiurban patients. Data including grade of acne, markers of androgenicity and post-acne scarring was collected. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS 15 software.Results: Frequency of acne vulgaris patients in the dermatology OPD was 2.8% with 429 acne patients out of 15,322 new patients. Female to male ratio was 1.44:1. The mean age of onset in males was 16.24 and in females, 14.84 years. Grade 2 acne (66%) was commonest followed by grade 3 (5.1%) and grade 4 (3.7%). Associated conditions seen were seborrhea (60.8%), alopecia (18.9%), acanthosis (4.9%) and PCOD (2.3%). Markers of androgenicity were more frequently seen in grade 2 acne which was statistically significant. Atrophic scars were commonest including icepick scars (80.2%), rolling scars (67.4%) and box scars (57.8%). Conclusions: In our study females had an earlier onset and closed comedones were the most common acne lesion. Grade 2 acne vulgaris formed majority of patients. Grade 4 acne vulgaris was more common in males.

in this work we have implemented and discussed the performance evaluation of Least Significant Bit (LSB) and Least Significant Digit (LSD) on various formats of multimedia data. We have shown the performance variation on different formats for which these two techniques have been applied to hide the messages. Implementation of both the algorithms has been done to explore the security and distortion level in different formats. The present study is aimed at evaluating the genotype frequency of detoxifying genes such as GSTM1, GSTT1 and NQO1 in Maharastrian population of central India. The study revealed about 64.6% of GSTM1-positive and 35.4% GSTM1-null population. GSTT1-positive genotype was found to be 87.5% and GSTT1-null showed 12.5%. The NQO1 genotype of Maharastrian population showed 52.3% of C/C, 42.48% C/T and 5.18% T/T. The NQO1 of this population does not deviate from the expected Hardy−Weinberg equilibrium. The genotype frequencies GSTM1 and GSTT1 of the population when compared with other ethnic groups of Asia and Caucasians show distinct nature of Maharastrian population from other Asian and Caucasian population.
