This paper deals with the study of induction motor drive speed control by various speed controller with sensor less technique. The several newly proposed inverter and converter is also included in the paper and studied. The merits and demerits of the different converters and inverters with different control strategy are compared. The sources also matter in used of any applications, therefore the hybrid renewable energy resource is used for the continuous power transformation. The sensor less technique reduces the sensors which reduce the entire cost of the system and bulkiness of the system. The controllers are used to generate the pulses for either inverters or converters. Based on the switching pulses for the inverter and converter the speed can be varied and controlled. Every controller has the capability to do that work but the job has to done inefficient way. The controllers suffer from the constraints such as fast response, accuracy, and settling time under nonlinear load condition as well as fast dynamic input change conditions. This paper includes the survey on induction motor speed control with comparison of different control strategies with various converters and inverters topologies.

Little attention has been paid to the integration of Distributed Gen-erators or DGs and capacitor banks in radial distribution system to meetthe increased electricity demand and to improve the technical aspectslike power loss reduction, voltage profile improvement, etc. Such im-provements involve major concerns such as finding the optimal sizing ofDGs and capacitor banks and their locations. This article presents the ap-plication of two new optimization algorithms: Firefly Algorithm (FFA)and Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA) to solve the optimal place-ment of both DG and fixed capacitor banks, in order to reduce the powerloss and improve voltage profile of distribution system. A detailed per-formance analysis is carried out on 33-bus and 69-bus radial distributionsystem to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms andthe results are compared with the Genetic Algorithm/Particle SwarmOptimization (GA/ PSO), Imperial Competitive Algorithm/ Genetic Al-gorithm (ICA/ GA) and Analytical approaches available in the literature.

In many industrial applications, the varying speed of the motor drives has become essential for the fast dynamic load conditions. Therefore, the detailed analysis of Field Oriented Control (FOC) with the sensor-less technique of induction motor is proposed where the reference speed is obtained from the MRAS speed observer, and fuzzy, ANN based controllers control the speed. The FOC not only control the magnitude but also provides the phasor control. The FOC is one of the sensors less technique. The sensor-less invokes the process of estimating the speed; the proposed MRAS speed observer achieves it. The MRAS speed observer gets the inputs such as current and voltage and then it converts to flux to reference speed. The FOC control the torque and flux components independently, and the flux component is obtained by the current. The fuzzy-based control technique is utilized for the control of the speed of the induction motor. In addition to this paper compares the results of fuzzy, and ANN based speed control methods, the results include the settling time, peak overshoot, ripples and accuracy of the speed. The results have been compared in the virtual environment by the MATLAB tool.

In this paper, two new algorithms are implemented to solve optimal placement of capacitors in radial distribution systems in two ways that is, optimal placement of fixed size of capacitor banks (Variable Locations Fixed Capacitor banks-VLFQ) and optimal sizing and placement of capacitors (Variable Locations Variable sizing of Capacitors-VLVQ) for real power loss minimization and network savings maximization. The two bio-inspired algorithms Bat Algorithm (BA) and Cuckoo Search (CS): search for all possible locations in the system along with the different sizes of capacitors, in which the optimal sizes of capacitor are chosen to be standard sizes that are available in the market. To check the feasibility, the proposed algorithms are applied on standard 34 and 85 bus radial distribution systems. And the results are compared with results of other methods like Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Harmonic Search (HS), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO) and Plant Growth Simulation Algorithm (PGSA), as available in the literature. The proposed approaches are capable of producing high-quality solutions with good performance of convergence. The entire simulation has been developed in MATLAB R2010a software.

This paper presents application of new optimization algorithm; Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA) to solve the optimal placement of both DG and fixed capacitor banks in order to reduce the power loss and improve voltage profile of distribution system. A detailed performance analysis is carried out on 33-bus and 69-bus radial distribution system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and the results are compared with the GA/PSO, ICA/GA and Analytical approach which are available in the literature.
