In this study a cooling ejector cycle coupled to a compression heat pump is analyzed for simultaneous cooling and heating applications. In this work, the influence of the thermodynamic parameters and fluid nature on the performances of the hybrid system is studied. The results obtained show that this system presents interesting performances. The comparison of the system performances with hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) and natural fluids is made. Natural substances are becoming very promising for long term alternative for refrigeration purposes. In this paper, two natural refrigerants have been proposed and analyzed for a novel ejector expansion transcritical cascade refrigeration (NEETCR) system. Nitrous oxide (N 2 O) is used in the low temperature circuit (LTC) whereas carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) is used in the high temperature circuit (HTC) of the NEETCR system. The reject of refrigerant vapor heat in the HTC is carried out through the use of transcritical carbon dioxide Rankine cycle. This produces work, which will be used to reduce the consumption work of compressors and feed pump thereby resulting in the improvement of the energy efficiency of the whole system. The simulation results were obtained by a computer FORTRAN program, where REFPROP 9 database was used to get the refrigerant thermodynamic properties. The simulation results showed that the (NEETCR) system had higher coefficient of performance and higher system second law efficiency compared to the EETCR system. An enhancement more than 9% in the COP and exergy efficiency of NEETCR system was found in comparison with EETCR system, when the cooling capacity and operating conditions of the two systems were the same. The increase of COP of NEETCR system and its efficiency along with the reduction of power consumption make it more practical for the use in cooling applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the integration of parallel compression and a two-phase ejector in transcritical CO 2 refrigeration systems, aiming to improve efficiency and performance. This innovative approach bridges the gap between conventional approaches and explores new energy-saving potential. The study uses thermodynamic modeling, mathematical simulation, and in-depth analysis to look at energy and exergy performance in a new configuration for applications in the retail sector at medium evaporation temperatures. The work investigates thermodynamic phenomena in a novel cycle with steady-state conditions, low pressure differentials, and adiabatic efficiency. The model is validated against experimental and theoretical published data, revealing component-specific exergy destruction and key parameters. The novel cycle efficiently extracts heat at higher temperatures, outperforming conventional and parallel cycles. Exergetic efficiency surpasses the standard cycle, with gas cooler pressure and temperature dependence enhancing efficiency by 40%-45%. The distribution of exergy destruction percentages reveals efficiency determinants, emphasizing heat exchange optimization and ejector responsiveness in energy dissipation dynamics. The study investigates the coefficient of performance (COP) dependence on gas cooler pressure and temperature, revealing superior performance compared to conventional cycles. COP increases by 50% at 80 bars, indicating enhanced efficiency. The new cycle offers exceptional efficiency gains, with a COP enhancement of over 75% for evaporator temperature transitions.
