Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common complication after Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG). Despite advanced treatment methods, primary prevention is crucial. Many factors have been investigated as markers for AF, but further research is required. CABG is currently superior to Primary Coronary Intervention (PCI) in some cases due to Left Anterior Descending Artery (LAD)- Internal Thoracic Artery (ITA) anastomosis. However, graft choice for non-LAD vessels is still controversial. Our study compared the incidence of arrhythmia between patients with single ITA or bilateral ITA (BITA). Methods The study included 84 isolated CABG patients. The patients were divided into two groups: single ITA and BITA. Patients who developed AF were recorded and compared. Results 73.8%(n = 62) of the patients were male and 26.2%(n = 22) were female. While single ITA was used in 48.8%(n = 41) of the patients, BITA was used in 51.2%(n = 43). AF was detected in 15.5%(n = 13) of the patients. AF was observed in 5(12.2%) patients in the single ITA group and 8(18.6%) in the BITA group. 76.9%(n = 10) of the patients with AF rhythm had Diabetes Mellitus (DM)(p = 0.011). Biphasic P wave, length of P wave duration, and total Morpholog-Voltage-P Wave ECG (MVP ECG) score height were statistically significantly different. Conclusions The development of AF was similar in both groups. The presence of DM, high blood glucose levels, and ECG findings can detect a predisposition to postoperative AF. MVP ECG risk score is effective as an AF marker and can be used in surgical patient groups.

Abstract Prosthetic valve thrombosis (PVT) in aortic valve and its complication coronary embolism is a very rare condition. Diagnosis and treatment process is challenging. We present a young patient with acute myocardial infarction who underwent mechanical aortic valve replacement (AVR) operation one month earlier. Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed and it was succesful. Transeasophageal ecocardiography (TEE) was performed. Thrombus was seen on the mechanical aortic valve and thrombolytic therapy was initiated. Control TEE was performed and there was no signs of thrombi. The patient was discharged healthfully with anticoagulant and antiaggregan.

Son yıllarda bilim insanları tarafından bir anlam oluşturma aracı olarak sıklıkla kullanılan metaforlar, insanların geçmiş bilgi birikimi ve deneyimleri ile geliştirdikleri etiketlerle gerçekliği nasıl inşa ettiklerini anlamaya yaramaktadır. Bu araştırma, Jandarma subay adayları ile subayların düşünce derinliklerinde “Jandarma” kavramını nasıl algıladıklarını metaforlar yoluyla belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. İncelenen olgu kişiler tarafından deneyimlenmiş olması nedeniyle bir nitel araştırma yöntemi olan olgu bilim yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Jandarma ve Sahil Güvenlik Fakültesinde lisans eğitimine devam eden 177 subay adayı öğrenci ile çeşitli birimlerde görev yapan 158 subay oluşturmaktadır. Yarı yapılandırılmış bir soru formu kullanılarak metaforlar ve açıklamaları elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen ham veriler içerik analizi tekniği ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın güvenilirlik değeri %93 olarak bulunmuştur. “Jandarma” kavramına ilişkin olarak Jandarma subay adayları tarafından 101’i farklı toplam 155 geçerli metafor üretilmiştir. Metafordan en çok yinelenenler; “aile”, “baba”, “su”, “anne”, “kurt”, “güneş”, “ilaç” ve “köprü” metaforlarıdır. Subaylar ise 84’ü farklı toplam 139 geçerli metafor üretmiştir. Subaylar tarafından en çok yinelenenler; “baba”, “kadife eldiven giymiş demir yumruk”, “anne” ve “İsviçre çakısı” metaforlarıdır. Geliştirilen metaforlar ortak özellikleri dikkate alınarak 15 farklı kavramsal kategori altında toplanmıştır. Her iki grupta da “jandarmanın gerekliliği” ve “koruyucu olması” kategorileri ilk sırada vurgulanmaktadır.

Objective: To investigate the cognitive state, psychological problems such as depression and anxiety, and pain in the musculoskeletal system among young adults with post-COVID-19 (long COVID) syndrome. Methods: This descriptive study included 361 students studying at the Vocational School of Health Services of Bingöl University in Turkey. Data were collected using the Socio-Demographic Information form, the Beck's Depression Inventory, the Cognitive Appraisal Scale, and the Visual Analogue Scale for pain. Results: Compared to those without COVID-19, the mean depression score, cognitive appraisal score, and mean Visual Analogue Scale score of the young adults with COVID-19 were significantly higher. There was no significant difference in pain assessment at rest between those with COVID-19 and those without COVID-19. Conclusions: Young adults with COVID-19 are more depressed, their cognitive functions are more easily negatively affected, and experience more pain during exercise.

This study was carried out to determine the species belonging to the order Hymenoptera in organic cherry (Prunus avium L.) orchards in Artuklu and Yeşilli districts of Mardin province, Turkey. The study was carried out in 6 orchards once a week between May and October 2017. The wine fattening trap method was used for the collection of insect species. As a result of the study, 6 species and 3 subspecies from 5 families belonging to the superfamilies Apoidea and Vespoidea (Hymenoptera) were determined. These are Vespula germanica (Fabricius, 1793), Polistes bucharensis Erichson, 1849, Eustenancistrocerus amadanensis amadanensis (de Saussure, 1856), Euodynerus disconotatus disconotatus (Lichtenstein, 1884) from Vespidae, Halictus sp. and Lasioglossum sp. from Halictidae, Osmia caerulescens (Linnaeus, 1758) from Megachilidae, Andrena sp. from Andrenidae and Apis mellifera (Linnaeus, 1758) from Apidae. It was determined that A. mellifera and V. germanica were more common and intense than other species. In addition, 5 of the identified species are the first record for Mardin province fauna.

Özümseme kapasitesi işletmelerin yeni bir bilginin değerinin farkına varabilmesi, onu özümseyip işletme amaçlarına yönlendirebilmesini ifade etmektedir. İşletmelerin yeni bilgiyi kavramasını, özümsemesini ve kullanmasını sağlayan özümseme kapasitesi işletmenin performansı üzerinde etkili bir unsur olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Bu noktada bu çalışmada “işletmelerin özümseme kapasitelerinin işletme performansı üzerinde etkisi var mıdır?” temel araştırma sorusuna yanıt aranmaktadır. Çalışma, Isparta-Burdur Bölgesi KOBİ’lerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlgili KOBİ’lerde yönetici düzeyinde çalışan 218 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. İlgili kişilere yönelik anket tekniği kullanılmıştır. Yazında bu yöndeki çalışmalar daha çok büyük işletmelerde gerçekleştirilmiş dolayısıyla üretilen sonuçlar ve öneriler de bu yönde değer bulmuştur. Ancak bu çalışma KOBİ’lerde gerçekleşmesi dolayısıyla yazına özgün bir değer katabilir ve pratik uygulamaya yönelik yararlı fikriler sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

Resumo Fundamento: Os efeitos benéficos do elabela no sistema cardiovascular foram demonstrados em estudos. Objetivo: Comparar os níveis séricos de elabela de pacientes com oclusão total crônica (OTC) com pacientes controle com artérias coronárias normais e investigar se há correlação com o desenvolvimento colateral. Métodos: Estudo transversal e prospectivo. O estudo incluiu cinquenta pacientes (28,0% mulheres, idade média 61,6±7,3 anos) com OTC em pelo menos um vaso coronário e 50 pacientes (38% mulheres, idade média 60,7±6,38 anos) com artérias coronárias normais. Os pacientes do grupo OTC foram divididos em dois grupos: Rentrop 0–1, composto por pacientes com fraco desenvolvimento colateral e Rentrop 2–3, composto por pacientes com bom desenvolvimento colateral. Além da idade, sexo, características demográficas e exames laboratoriais de rotina dos pacientes, foram medidos os níveis de elabela. The Anticoagulation and Risk Factors in Atrial Fibrillation (ATRIA score is a validated risk score to predict bleeding risk in atrial fibrillation (AF), but its predictive value in predicting bleeding after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) or non-STEMI (NSTEMI) patients receiving antithrombotic therapy is unknown. Our aim was to investigate the predictive performance of the ATRIA bleeding score in STEMI and NSTEMI patients in comparison to the CRUSADE (Can Rapid risk stratification of Unstable angina patients Suppress ADverse outcomes with Early implementation of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Guidelines) and ACUITY-HORIZONS (Acute Catheterization and Urgent Intervention Triage strategY-Harmonizing Outcomes with Revascularization and Stents in Acute Myocardial Infarction) bleeding scores. Aim: We aimed to evaluate the awareness of pneumococcal vaccination (PCV13, PPSV23) in general cardiology outpatient clinics and impact of physicians’ recommendations on vaccination rates. Methods: This was a multicenter, observational, prospective cohort study. Patients over the age of 18 from 40 hospitals in different regions of Turkey who applied to the cardiology outpatient clinic between September 2022 and August 2021 participated. The vaccination rates were calculated within three months of follow-up from the admitting of the patient to cardiology clinics. Results: The 403 (18.2%) patients with previous pneumococcal vaccination were excluded from the study. The mean age of study population (n = 1808) was 61.9 ± 12.1 years and 55.4% were male. The 58.7% had coronary artery disease, hypertension (74.1%) was the most common risk factor, and 32.7% of the patients had never been vaccinated although they had information about vaccination before. The main differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated patients were related to education level and ejection fraction. The physicians’ recommendations were positively correlated with vaccination intention and behavior in our participants. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a significant correlation between vaccination and female sex [OR = 1.55 (95% CI = 1.25–1.92), p < 0.001], higher education level [OR = 1.49 (95% CI = 1.15–1.92), p = 0.002] patients’ knowledge [OR = 1.93 (95% CI = 1.56–2.40), p < 0.001], and their physician’s recommendation [OR = 5.12 (95% CI = 1.92–13.68), p = 0.001]. Conclusion: To increase adult immunization rates, especially among those with or at risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), it is essential to understand each of these factors. Even if during COVID-19 pandemic, there is an increased awareness about vaccination, the vaccine acceptance level is not enough, still. Further studies and interventions are needed to improve public vaccination rates.

Aim: To examine the association between plasma levels of β-2 microglobulin (β-2M), a protein previously associated with atherosclerosis, and the presence of coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP). Material and Methods: 124 subjects who admitted to cardiology outpatient clinic with chest pain and directed to coronary angiography were investigated. Sixty-six of them had healthy coronary arteries and the others coronary slow flow. Venous blood samples were obtained to determine β-2M levels. Gastric cancer comprises 10% of all cancers in the world and is rarely seen before the age of 30. Different genetic interactions or molecular changes like e-cadherin, P16, APC, c-erb B2, c-met, ras, or c-myc have been described in the pathogenesis of the disease. MiRNAs play critical roles in various biological processes such as cell proliferation, cell differentiation, apoptosis, repairing of DNA damage, angiogenesis, stress response, and stem cell division. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between miRNA gene expressions and gastric cancer. Method: Sixty-four patients with gastric cancer diagnosed consecutively in our pathology laboratory and 30 consecutive participants with normal gastric tissue, as a control group, were included in our study between 2011 and 2013. Total miRNAs were obtained by using genomic miRNA extraction kit (QIAGEN Sample & Assay Technologies, Hilden, Germany) after the samples had been deparaffinized. MiR-21, 107, 141, 150, 192, 202, 218, 331 gene expressions were evaluated by using real time-PCR (RT-PCR) from the whole miRNA. Results: MiR-331 was downregulated in the stage 2 patients and the rest of the miRNAs were significantly upregulated (p < 0.001). All miRNAs were significantly upregulated in the stage 3a patients (p < 0.001). In the antrum localized tumors, miR-107, -150, -202, -218, and -331 were significantly upregulated, whereas miR-21, -192 were statistically downregulated (p < 0.05). In the cardia localized tumors, miR-21 (p > 0.05) was downregulated and miR-107, -150, -202, -218, and -331 were upregulated (p < 0.05) Different gene expressions of miRNAs according to the different localizations of gastric cancer and different stages suggest that it can be tumor marker to predict the stage and localization of gastric cancer. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether low thiol levels are associated with peri-procedural factors during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) upon admission with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), and the prognostic value at 6-month follow-up. Methods: A total of 241 consecutive acute STEMI patients who underwent pPCI and a control group of 67 individuals with a normal coronary angiography were enrolled in the study. Results: While age, contrast-induced nephropathy, N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), stent length, and creatinine were related to native thiol, NT-proBNP, contrast-induced nephropathy, and creatinine were related to total thiol. NT-proBNP was also related to the disulphide level. The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and the levels of native thiol, total thiol, low-density lipoprotein, and serum albumin were found to be independent predictors of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) during 6 months of follow-up. Conclusion: Initial lower native thiol, total thiol, LVEF, LDL, and serum albumin may be used to identify patients with an increased long-term risk of unfavorable cardiac events in case of STEMI.

Background and objective: We aimed to investigate biochemical factors affecting coronary collateral circulation development in an elderly population aged 75 years and over. Material and methods: The study group consisted of patients with a prior coronary angiography for stable coronary artery disease (CAD). Patients with total occlusion of at least one vessel were included in the study. Enrolled patients were divided into two groups, good collateral (GC; n = 73) and bad collateral (BC; n = 55), in accordance with the Cohen-Rentop’s classification system. Results: In comparison to the GC group, bilirubin levels were significantly lower (p < 0.001), and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels were significantly higher in the BC group (p = 0.026). Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were significantly lower in the BC group when compared to the GC group (p = 0.002 and p < 0.001, respectively). Backward elimination stepwise logistic regression analysis identified bilirubin and FPG as variables that strongly predicted the presence of a well-developed coronary collateral circulation and a poorly developed coronary collateral circulation, respectively. Conclusion: Bilirubin and FPG were seemed as the most important factors affecting coronary collateral circulation development in patients with stable CAD who were older than 75 years.

In this study we describe the methodology used to identify and validate a set of expert-defined fraction subtraction related attributes. These attributes are expected to be mastered by 6th grade students toward proficiency. This research argues and demonstrates that state standards guiding subject instruction plays an important role in identification of the domain related fundamental attributes. This study also illustrates throughout implementation of cognitive diagnosis model framework, which is used to extract diagnostic information about students' specific strengths and weaknesses. Resumo Fundamento Os enxertos de veias safenas (EVS) são frequentemente usados em pacientes submetidos a cirurgia de revascularização do miocárdio (CRM). Objetivos Avaliar as relações entre índices aterogênicos e estenose de EVS. Métodos: No total, 534 pacientes (27,7% mulheres, com idade média de 65±8,4 anos) submetidos a CRM e angiografia coronariana eletiva foram incluídos no estudo.
