Background Children are the most vulnerable group to diseases. Thus, it’s critical to evaluate parents’ or guardians’ willingness to vaccinate their children. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and predictors of pediatric COVID-19 vaccination in Iran and its relationship with trust in the Primary Health Care (PHC) system. Method A cross-sectional online survey of 549 Iranian parents was conducted between January and March 2023. This study collected data from all provinces of Iran using a questionnaire shared on Google Forms and various social media platforms. After considering various background factors, we used a multivariable logistic regression model. This model explored how trust in the PHC system and parent-related and child-related factors were related to parents’ vaccine uptake for their children. Results Of 549 parents aged between 19 and 67 years (median=38 years), 65.2% (358) were female. The prevalence of vaccine uptake among parents was 46.8%. After adjusting for background features, child’s age (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 0.81, 95% CI 0.71–0.91), vaccine doses (1-dose: AOR 14.72, 95% CI 6.44–33.65, 2-dose: AOR 32.54, 95% CI 15.22–69.57), child’s disease (AOR 5.31, 95% CI 2.19–12.85), and trust in PHC (AOR 1.01, 95% CI 1.00–1.02) were associated with parental uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine. Conclusions The fndings of this study suggest that the child’s age, vaccine doses received, diseases, and trust in PHC are signifcant predictors of parental uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine for children in Iran. Background and Aim: Noise pollution is one of the urban problems that can affect the exposed individuals’ cognitive function. This study set to investigate the impact of traffic noise on drivers’ cognitive variables including perceptual capacity, speed of perception, and divided attention concerning the role of individual orientation and neuroticism. Methods: This study recruited 35 male student participants. The Eysenck personality questionnaire was used to evaluate the participants’ personalities (neuroticism and extroversion). Participants were then exposed to traffic noise, and the Adaptive Tachistoscopic Traffic Perception Test (ATTPT) was performed to assess their capacity and speed of perception. The Peripheral Perception Test (PPT) was also conducted to evaluate the divided attention using the Vienna test system software. Results: Introverted and stable individuals had better performance in perceptual capacity and speed of perception tasks after exposure to traffic noise. However, these effects were not observed in extrovert and unstable individuals. This study also showed no significant alterations in variables in extroverted (introverted/extroverted) subjects with neuroticism (unstable/stable) concerning divided attention tasks after traffic noise exposure. Conclusion: This study showed that divided attention in extrovert individuals with neuroticism was not influenced by traffic noise exposure. But perceptual capacity and perception speed was influenced by traffic noise in introverts and unstable subjects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Self-burning is one way that some people choose to commit suicide, and it has been seen in many nations. This problem is considered as an uncommon method in developed countries and a common method of suicide in developing countries. The present study aimed to identify the factors associated with self-burning among Iranian women in reproductive age. This case-control study was conducted among 228 (57 cases and 171 controls) women in reproductive age from the Imam Khomeini Hospital of Ilam. A self-report questionnaire was used to determine factors associated with self-burning, including job status, domestic violence, mental health status, education levels, smoking and alcohol use, forced marriage, socioeconomic status, drug history, and family history of self-burning. Data analysis was performed using simple and multiple logistic regression to control the effects of possible confounders. There was a significant positive association between self-burning and being unemployed and a housewife. Also, the presence of self-burning was increasingly associated with high domestic violence and having history of forced marriage and decreasingly associated with post-diploma education level and a high socioeconomic level. It is recommended that health and social policy makers pay attention to the social and economic aspects that cause self-burning in women to prevent this problem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background Socioeconomic status, especially during childhood, is known as one of the key factors affecting health. This study's objective was to investigate the association between childhood socioeconomic and mental health status in adulthood. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 2062 employees of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Depression, stress and anxiety were measured using the validated DASS-42 questionnaire. A self-rated question was used to assess childhood socioeconomic status. Other variables including age, sex, marital status, and also wealth index, were measured. Linear regression models were used to analyze the data. Results 24.6% of men and 33.8% of women had degrees of depression (mild, moderate, severe or very severe). 32.9% of men and 29.4% of women had mild, moderate, severe or very severe anxiety. 36.3% of men and 45.2% of women also exhibited mild, moderate, severe or very severe stress. Results showed after adjusting for the current socioeconomic status, childhood socioeconomic status has a relationship with the mental health of individuals. Conclusion People with a suboptimal childhood socioeconomic status seem to be a high-risk group for depression, stress and anxiety in adulthood. Background and Objective: The number of road accidents and casualties is considerably high in Iran. In addition, car headlights, especially on two-way roads, cause glare in the eyes of oncoming drivers. This study aimed to determine the level of discomfort caused by the glare of car headlights and the effects of some variables on creating discomfort glare. Materials and Methods: The illuminance of the driver's eye was measured using luxmeter, and the severity of discomfort glare caused by the car's headlights was determined using the Schmidt-Clausen and Bindels model, the lateral and longitudinal distance between the two vehicles, and the background luminance of the road surface. Results: In the low beam mode of the cars, luxmeter failed to record any illuminance from 100 to 50 meters distance. In the high beam mode, the discomfort glare gradually increased by the reduction of the longitudinal distance between two vehicles from the distance of 100 meters. Increase in the level of discomfort glare for Samand, Pride Saba GTX, Pride 131SL, Renault Megan, and Peugeot Pars cars continued up to 30, 20, and 10 meters, and up to 10 and 20 meters in the case of Peugeot 405 car depending on the background luminance, respectively. The level of discomfort glare reduced from these intervals onwards. Conclusion: The discomfort glare can be affected by changes and adjustments made in the side distance between vehicles, direction and height of car headlights, as well as voltage and type of headlight lamp and can be reduced by changes in road design and vehicle headlights.
