Background: This study was designed to determine and compare the effect of low level laser therapy and strong surge faradic current on trapezius spasm. Material And Methods: Group A consisted of 15 subjects who received Low Level Laser Therapy and Group B consisted of 15 subjects who received Strong Surge Faradic current. On the 1st and 5th day Numerical pain rating scale (NPRS) was taken to measure pain intensity, Hubbard's "Tenderness grading scale" was used for assessment of soft tissue tenderness and Cervical side flexion and rotation range of motion was measured using universal goniometer. Result: The t-value for NPRS, tenderness, cervical side flexion and rotation were 12.52, 11.05, - 7.28 and -8.76 respectively. So, there was significant difference in all the outcome measures between Group A and Group B at level of significance p=0.00. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated that LLLT and SSF current both the interventions are effective for treatment of trapezius spasm. But SSF current is more effective than LLLT in improving cervical rotation range of motion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Muscle strength measurement is a key component of physiotherapists' assessment and is frequently used as an outcome measure. A pressure biofeedback unit can be potentially used as a tool to assess hip isometric muscle strength. Objectives: This study was designed to establish normative adductor squeeze test (AST) values in runners and investigate strength of adductor muscles during the performance of the thigh adductor squeeze test at 0°, 45°, and 90° of hip flexion. Material And Methods: A total of 51 healthy runners aged 23-27 years participated. Each participant performed 3 trials of the thigh adductor squeeze test in the three positions at 0°, 45°, and 90° of hip flexion. Pressure biofeedback unit was used to assess the strength of hip adductor muscles. Strength of the adductors was measured as the maximum pressure that was achieved by the subject from 10 mm Hg. Result: Mean strength is 103.05 ± 23.05 mmHg at 0° hip flexion, 141.03 ± 24.31 mmHg at 45° hip flexion and 134.86 ± 22.83 mmHg at 90° hip flexion position. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that the 45° of hip flexion test position is the optimal thigh adductor squeeze test position. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sclerosing mucoepidermoid carcinoma (SMEC) is a distinct but an uncommon salivary gland neoplasm with only 19 cases reported in English literature till date. Densely collagenous sclerotic stroma, resemblance to other benign lesions and rarity of this tumour often makes the diagnosis of SMEC challenging. Here we report a case of SMEC in a 73-year old female patient suffering from filariasis. Clinical, radiological, fine needle aspiration biopsy, gross and histopathological features are discussed with detailed review of literature and probable pathogenesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
